True Faith I could vividly remember how God allowed me to experience a tough situation and how I passed with flying colors. There was a time when I hit rock bottom on my finances. Even when business was ongoing, money was scarce and my savings was almost depleted. I was put to an extreme test when I was invited to give a life testimony in a community. As if adding insult to injury, my car was low in gasoline just enough to go to the venue. Good thing, I was given a stipend after my sharing. I ended up in the adoration chapel that night praying and thanking the Lord despite the ordeal I was in. Miracle of all miracles, the next morning I received a call from a client telling me that the initial payment for their office uniforms amounting to half a million pesos was ready for pick up. I didn’t know what “true faith” and complete “trust” was all about until I was down to nothing and God was up for something!

Be Blessed, ADRIAN PANGANIBAN

Do you have a weakness? I have a terrible memory. I forget everything — from appointments to client schedules, even anniversaries and birthdays. This has led to a major fight with my ex-girlfriend, now my wife, several years back. After that, I have found creative ways to deal with my situation. I set up multiple, repeating alarms and schedule messages as reminders. I am happy that this was able to compensate for my weakness.

One thing is true, everybody has a weakness, whether due to their behavior or due to trials and

unpleasant experiences such as losing someone and being heartbroken.

For me and most that I know, this can be sometimes difficult because we have to deal with our

weaknesses. I love it that even Jesus says something about this. 2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. I believe we must not deny our weakness, instead we must embrace it. We need to accept that it is a given. What will keep us secure is knowing that Jesus will be there to help us out. In today’s talk we will learn that we can be a great leader even when we have a weakness. Have a blessed and empowering Feast! In Christ, JOHN BEN RODRIGUEZ

Personal Reflection and Group Shar ing HOW LEADERSHIP IS A SACRIFICE

As you lead, how can you grow more aware of your own brokenness, and your desperate need for God’s mercy?

Talk 3 - Limp Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? 3 Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. 4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith. Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. 7 Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits. 8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” (Mark 6:1-11 NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV)

BLESSING BLOG

Serving God in My Youth As told to Juliann Silva Eduardo “EJ” Licos, 17 years old, shares how his rebellious disposition changed when he attended The Feast. Being the sixth child in a family of eight, I was always being compared to my older siblings. I grew up with hatred and grudge about my situation, my family, and even to myself. I wished I was a different person. It seemed as if no one was listening to me. I rebelled. My language was a stream of invective. I often involved myself into fights and retaliated to whatever my parents told me. The pressure and comparison cultivated a negative mindset. Frustrated, I resorted to self-harm and entertained suicidal thoughts at 10 years old. I felt useless to my family and as a person. God’s Saving Grace During those darkest moments, I also felt God’s strong presence and saving grace. I’d hear a whisper every time those thoughts came to me: “Kapag ba namatay ka magagawa mo yung mga gusto mo para sa family mo?” This never failed to bring me back to reality. I love my Using Dance as Worship

family. I have dreams. And I want to continue to live for them.

It was at that time when my family discovered The Feast through my father’s employer who invited us to attend one of the sessions of Bro. Bo Sanchez in PICC. Through the Feast community, I gained more patience and felt God’s unconditional love, which completely changed me. Attending The Feast strengthened my relationship with God. I felt His loving guidance not only to me but to all the members of my family. Through the talk series, the prayer community provides guidance to both parents and children. They provide practical tips and I do my best to apply the learnings in my daily life. Dancing for the Lord The Feast was definitely a happy place for me so when I was invited to serve for the then new Feast in SM Sucat, I joined. My family supported and encouraged me all throughout. I started serving in the dance ministry seven years ago. From The Feast SM Sucat to Star Theater to Aliw Theater to Bay Area and now at Robinsons Ermita, I continued to worship the Lord my dancing. Though it meant long, weekly travels from Imus, Cavite to Ermita, Manila, it did not deter my passion for service. Dancing and teaching the kids through the ministry is my way of giving back to Him. “Gusto kong turuan sila sumayaw para sa susunod sila na ang magtuturo sa iba pang bata para mas lalo lumapit ang mga kabataan sa Panginoon.” I am thankful to all the members of the dance ministry who continued to guide and support me in my journey: Tita Jeng, Aliah, Lycha, Jim, Mark, Kc, Jilliane, Dads Rm, Kuya moon, Ate Ivy, Ate Arhnie, Kuya Kiko, Gio, Yuri, Patricia, Alex, Pia and all others. Growing Up at The Feast

EJ with the Feast Ermita, formerly Feast A1 Dance Ministry

I am a teenager now and I am more than grateful to God. I have learned to give importance to the people in my life whom He has blessed me with. It has strengthened the bond in the family. We understand each other better and resolve whatever problems we have. There is no more room for suicidal thoughts or rebellious behavior. There are still life’s difficulties, and at times, I struggle. But whenever I remember that moment when God was crucified, I feel inspired to choose love more and be selfless.

RECAP FROM LAST SUNDAY

Talk 2 - Lose

WASH SOME FEET

HOW LEADERSHIP IS A SACRIFICE

The Book of John focuses on Jesus washing the disciples’ feet during the Last Supper. A Jesus-follower is a foot-washer. Whose feet are you washing this week? Who are the people you will serve?” Based on Adam Grant’s book, Give and Take, there are three kinds of people in this world: Taker. Gives and expects to receive more than what he has given. Matcher. Wants to receive equally as what he has given. Giver. Gives without expecting anything in return. Life is not a sprint but a marathon. Takers win in the 10-meter dash but Givers win the marathon.

MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

Serve with Your Scars ONE day, I was cruising the coast of California. (Sorry, I alliterate by habit. It’s the disease of preachers who’ve been speaking for too long. I’ll do it four times in this tiny essay.) I visited a friend who was in a drug rehab. The guy running the center was an amiable African American. He shared to me his story: “I took drugs for 12 years and I have been sober for 19. I now help younger guys get off this poison.” “Your brokenness blesses the brothers,” I said. “Being an ex-addict helps you help them,” I added. “Absolutely,” he said. “Because no one can bullsh*t me. I know when these dudes are lying. Because I had done it. And worse.” I’m reminded of a truth I’ve been preaching for some years now: In your scars is a ministry waiting to be born. Because God will use you in your brokenness. Today, you’ll learn to lead with a limp. Have an awesome Feast! May your dreams come true, BO SANCHEZ
