New family-friendly venue, Sobar

Run by local charity Double Impact, Sobar is Nottingham’s first and only alcohol-free café and entertainment venue and was recently recommended in the Evening Post as Nottingham’s ‘Best for Children’ venue. As well as a delicious children’s menu, there is a great Kids’ Corner with games and toys, plenty of space for buggies, proper (clean) highchairs and breastfeeding is welcome. The venue also hosts regular family, music, comedy, and art events. Located just off the Old Market Square on Friar Lane, it’s a great place to escape the throngs and re-fuel. 22 Friar Lane, Nottingham, NG1 6DQ 0115 824 0364 www.sobar-nottingham.co.uk www.doubleimpact.org.uk Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SobarNottingham Twitter: @sobarnottm

New management at Coteswood House

Heart-warmingly, through the dedication of staff and parents, after facing closure in April 2014, Coteswood House opened its doors in September under new management, with the same head teacher and new facilities. Established in 1937 and well known for its small class sizes, the children enjoy a nurturing family-like environment and lots of individual attention. Mrs Anne Whitworth, loved by the children, and who started at Coteswood over 25 years ago said “We treat every child in our class as someone else’s whole world. I’m delighted to have the backing of a strong management team that wish to keep the ‘Coteswood House’ way and also enhance our provision. Already we have a growing range of after school activities which are proving very popular. ” Head Teacher: Mrs Anne Whitworth Tel: 0115 967 6551 Email: info@CoteswoodHouse.co.uk Website: www.CoteswoodHouseSchool.co.uk

“My children are delighted to no longer be sharing a room, it makes such a difference to them having their own space” This is a comment we hear from our customers over and over again. As families grow or siblings who are sharing get older it becomes more important for you all to have your own space. Many families don’t want the hassle of moving, so instead we help them maximise the potential of their existing home. By converting your loft, garage or having an extension we can create an extra bedroom, play room or bathroom and really make a difference to your everyday life.

@Home Childcare Training Academy Provides Home-Grown Childcare Service Families in need of extra help with caring for young children can now benefit from a Parents’ Help service through @Home Childcare Training Academy. The service is aimed at parents on maternity/paternity leave who, when they return to work, would like their children to benefit from personal 1-2-1 care and attention from home childcare. The parents’ helper is a trainee home childcarer (nanny) who will work alongside parents whilst undertaking professional Early Years training. The trainee has specialist mentor/tutor to provide guidance, support and training. Director, Yvette Oliver-Mighten is excited about the new service. “Our Childcare Academy is our way of growing a home childcare workforce by providing pathway training and career opportunities for people genuinely interested in a career in Early Years. Parent helpers will progress onto sole charge home childcarers who will provide quality, affordable childcare to families, from all income brackets, in need of flexible childcare.”

Dagfa School ~ Adding Value! The world is a place of wonder and beauty. There are amazing opportunities that await discovery by curious minds, and it is essential that this curiosity is encouraged at school. At Dagfa, we work hard to add value to all aspects of our pupils’ development. The exam results speak for themselves, with the number of A and A* grades increasing from a predicted 3.5% to an amazing 24% in the 2014 GCSE results. Also, every pupil in the school comes together on a Wednesday afternoon for 2 hours of Enrichment. In this session the pupils explore exciting opportunities and discover new activities, or gain qualifications and experience in useful areas, with choices such as: self-defence, business strategy, dance, debating, nature conservation, croquet, outdoor pursuits, rock climbing, 1st Aid and even try to break world records!
