Out with the old and in with the new! This will be our final newsletter edition in this format. The Directors have decided to implement new initiatives and communication methods for the estate residents, which those of you in the Community WhatsApp group have already experienced. We hope
you will enjoy the shorter, more community-oriented articles and updates directly from the Board of Directors and Management in the future.
Business from Home Enterprises
We have emailed all homeowners requesting them that they, or their tenants, operating home-based
businesses must apply for compliance. Please contact the office to obtain the policy document and necessary application details.
Municipal Evaluations
Homeowners have also received an email with comprehensive information on how to check the value of their properties. If you wish to contest the valuation of your property, please submit your objection to the City of Ekurhuleni before 25 June 2025.
Refuse collection is every Monday, including public holidays, except for Christmas. Please place your bins out on the morning of collection and bring them back in the same day. Ensure that your refuse bins are stored out of view from the street.

Blue Gill Homeowners’ Association: Welcoming Our New Directors
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of three new directors to serve on the Blue Gill Homeowners’ Association (BGHOA) Board. In accordance with Article 14.4 of our Memorandum of Incorporation, these appointments will remain valid until the next Annual General Meeting, at which time the appointed directors will vacate their posts but will be eligible for election should they choose to stand.
We are delighted to introduce:
Theo Strydom - Director: Community Engagement, Communication, and the Dam Theo joined our community nearly three years ago, fulfilling a long-held dream of living in Blue Gill after admiring our estate while growing up in kempton Park. With 26 years of experience in the
Hardware Industry, specialising in the wholesale distribution of locks, keys, key machines, and door hardware, Theo brings valuable expertise to our Board. “For me, safety is paramount, and Blue Gill provides a secure environment where families can thrive,” Theo shares. He, his wife Nicole, and their children JT and Cheree particularly enjoy the safe, outdoor atmosphere that allows children to play freely.
In his role overseeing the Dams and Communication portfolios, Theo is passionate about enhancing and maintaining property values within our community. He encourages all residents to actively participate in estate programmes and activities, believing that collaboration strengthens communication and helps achieve collective goals.
Frederick Smit - Director: Maintenance
Frederick, a resident of Blue Gill for 24 years, brings with him 35 years of experience in the Logistics and Commercial Vehicle Industry. He currently holds the position of Sales Director. His extensive management background and strong financial acumen, combined with his passion for the environment, make him an ideal addition to our Board. Frederick was initially attracted to Blue Gill for its safety and natural beauty. “I feel a sense of tranquillity the minute I drive through the booms at the Waterfront,” he notes. An avid
runner who enjoys exploring our community, he also shares a love for 1970s cars with several fellow residents.
With a keen eye for maintenance and cleanliness, Frederick is particularly focused on improving our ageing infrastructure and creating a safe, beautiful environment for children. He also represents the Waterfront area and looks forward to giving back to the community that has provided him and his family - including their Scottish Terrier, rescue Schnauzer, and cat Lewis - so many wonderful years.
Theo Stone - Director: Security
With 13 years in our community and 32 years of experience as a Director/Owner in the Marketing and Hospitality sectors, Theo Stone brings strong communication skills and leadership to his role overseeing Security.
Like many residents, Theo was drawn to Blue Gill for its security and natural environment. His passion for international marlin fishing reflects his love of tranquil spaces, while his professional experience has honed his attention to detail and problem-prevention skills - qualities that serve him well in his security portfolio. Theo’s hands-on experience with
security measures is particularly valuable. “I hope to add value to the security and cost value to the residents,” he explains, emphasising his belief in addressing issues properly the first time. An animal lover, Theo supports multiple charities and sponsors the training of one guide dog annually through the Guide Dog Association of South Africa.
Looking Forward
The Board extends a warm welcome to these three directors and wishes them every success in their new roles. We believe their combined expertise, community spirit, and fresh perspectives will benefit all Blue Gill residents. We encourage you to introduce yourself when you see them around the estate!
Security Report
We are pleased to report that there have been no significant security breaches on the estate in the past two months. However, teenagers were caught playing “ding-dong-ditch,” and several of our dam lights were vandalised.
Additionally, some residents’ private property was damaged. While we all had our mischievous moments as children, we ask that you remind your children to respect the estate’s property, as well as the privacy and peace of other residents.
Remember: your children are your responsibility.
