Дорогі читачі!

Нарешті прийшов час, коли єврочемпіонат для українців став реальним та дуже близьким. Тепер Євро, а точніше абсолютно всі його об’єкти, можна побачити на власні очі та відчути на дотик: аеропорти, дороги, стадіони, готелі та гуртожитки чекають на гостей чемпіонату. З травня 2012 року Україна повністю готова до старту футбольних змагань! При чому процес організації турніру тривав до останніх тижнів. Насиченість європодій в останній місяць вражають. На початку травня в рамках промоційної кампанії до ЧЄ-2012 в Україну завітав Трофі-тур Кубка Європи. Паралельно з мандрівкою нашою країною головного трофею чемпіонату відбувся також фінал Шкільного Євро. Після цього – відразу два аеровідкриття: оновлених аеропортів у Донецьку та Жулянах. Саме темі запуску нових українських «повітряних воріт» разом зі стартом терміналу D «Борисполя» присвячена передовиця номеру. Історичною подією напередодні чемпіонату також став початок курсування електропоїздів «Хюндай» за євронапрямками. Усе це, а також підготовка футболістів, тренерів, суддів та зірок-фанів до Євро – в пропонованому вам випуску журналу. Редакція «Україна-2012»

Dear readers,

The time when the European Championship has became a very close reality for Ukrainians has finally arrived. EURO, or to be more precise, all its objects can be already seen with one’s own eyes and felt by touching: airports, roads, stadiums, hotels and hostels await the guests of the Championship. As of May 2012, Ukraine is completely ready for the start of the football competitions! At the same time, the process of organizing the tournament continued until recent weeks. The richness of EURO events during the recent month is impressive. The European Cup Trophy Tour came to Ukraine in early May within the framework of the promo campaign for EURO 2012. The School EURO final was also held simultaneously with the tour of Championship’s main trophy to our country. This was followed by two air inaugurations at once: the upgraded Donetsk and Zhulyany airports. The editorial of the issue is dedicated precisely to putting the new Ukrainian “air gates” into operation, along with a launch of Terminal D at Boryspil Airport. The beginning of operation of Hyundai electric trains in EURO directions also became a historic event on the eve of the Championship. All this, along with the preparations of football players, coaches, referees and star fans for EURO, is presented in this edition of the magazine offered to you. Ukraine-2012 editorial board

Оновлений залізничний вокзал Донецька урочисто відкрили 21 травня 2012 року. Його перебудова суттєво поліпшила технічні характеристики станції. Це вилилося в збільшення місткості приміського вокзалу з 700 до 2100 осіб, подовження колій і пасажирських платформ, а також забезпечило зручні умови для обслуговування інвалідів.

The renovated railway station in Donetsk was ceremoniously unveiled on 21 May 2012. Its reconstruction has significantly improved the stationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s features. This has resulted in increased capacity of the suburban station from 700 to 2,100 people, extension of tracks and passenger platforms, and provision of convenient facilities to serve disabled people.

Infantino: There are no defects in preparations for Euro

Інфантіно: «У європідготовки немає недоліків» Фінал чемпіонату Європи з футболу відбудеться у Києві 1 липня, і жодних інших варіантів організатори турніру не розглядають. На цьому наголосив Генеральний секретар УЄФА Джанні Інфантіно. Він також заявив, що Україна і Польща продемонстрували «значний прогрес» при підготовці до проведення Євро-2012, а незначні недоліки будуть ліквідовані своєчасно.

Як наголосив Віце-прем’єр – Міністр інфраструктури України Борис Колесніков, усі стадіони Євро – готові, й зважаючи на те, що 2 роки тому країна отримали їхнє будівництво навіть без проектів, Європейський футбольний союз задоволений ними. «Керівництво УЄФА задоволене станом стадіонів та підготовкою до матчів турніру», – зазначив Віце-прем’єр.

National team’s motto at EURO: «Ukrainians, our time has come!»

«Ukrainians, our time has come!» – this will be the slogan of the country’s national team during its appearances at the host country’s continental championship in 2012. The slogan, which will be pout on the team’s bus was chosen by UEFA along with one of the sponsors of the coming tournament by fans who took part in the relevant competition. To do this fans of the teams participating in EURO 2012 had to register on the UEFA website and present their version of the motto. They adopted the language of the country in question and the slogan had to fit in 80 characters. The winners of the competition were chosen by a vote by fans. The winners of the competition for the best slogan of one’s favourite team will get a valuable prize – the opportunity to attend one of the play-off games at the European Championship with business class tickets. 10

The final of the European Football Championship will be held in Kyiv on 1 July, and the tournament’s organizers are considering no other options. This is what UEFA General- Secretary Gianni Infantino stressed when speaking on 12 May before the final match of the School EURO at the NSC Olympic Stadium. He also said that Ukraine and Poland showed «considerable progress» in preparations for EURO 2012, but minor flaws will be eliminated in time. As Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov emphasized, all the EURO stadiums are ready and, despite the fact that 2 years ago the country received their construction without even a design project, the European Football Union is satisfied with them. «UEFA’s senior management is pleased with the state of the stadiums and with preparations for the tournament matches,» the Vice Prime Minister said.

Девіз збірної на Євро: «Українці, наш час настав!»

«Українці, наш час настав!» – саме під таким девізом виступатиме на домашній першості континенту-2012 національна збірна країни. Слоган, який буде розміщено на автобусі команди, визначив УЄФА разом з одним зі спонсорів майбутнього турніру за допомогою вболівальників, які взяли участь у відповідному конкурсі. Для цього фанатам збірних-учасниць Євро-2012 слід було зареєструватися на інтернет-сторінці УЄФА та подати свій варіант девізу. Гасла приймалися мовою країн, для чиїх збірних вони призначені, та повинні були вміститися у 80 символів. Переможців конкурсу визначили шляхом голосування вболівальників. Переможці конкурсу на найкращий девіз своєї улюбленої команди отримають цінний приз – можливість відвідати один з матчів плейофф чемпіонату Європи за квитками у бізнес-класі.

Збірна України проведе збір у Німеччині

Крім запланованих етапів підготовки до чемпіонату Європи в Туреччині й Австрії, національна команда України проведе нетривалий збір у Німеччині. Як повідомив ІЦ «Україна-2012» менеджер збірної Олег Тарадай, напередодні старту Євро-2012 команда Олега Блохіна на два дні заїде в німецький Інгольштадт. Там команда пробуде 4–5 червня, звідти вирушить до Конча-Заспи, де й буде готуватися до першого матчу чемпіонату – 11 червня проти Швеції. В Інгольштадті 5 червня українська команда зіграє зі збірною Туреччини. У німецькому містечку, населення якого трохи більше ста тисяч, вже продаються квитки на цю зустріч. Нагадаємо, в рамках підготовки Олег Блохін проведе з підопічними три збори. Перший – в турецькому Белеку з 15 по 24 травня. Потім команда переїде до австрійського Тіроля, де буде займатися ще 10 днів. На 28 травня запланований спаринг зі збірною Естонії в Куфштайні, а 1 червня в Інсбруку відбудеться контрольний матч з австрійцями.

Ukrainian national team will hold training camp in Germany In addition to the planned stages of preparation for the European Championship in Turkey and Austria, the national team of Ukraine will also hold a short-stay camp in Germany. As team manager Oleh Taraday told the Information Centre Ukraine-2012, before the start of EURO 2012 Oleh Blokhin’s team will spend two days in Germany’s Ingolstadt. The team will stay there on 4-5 June, travel to Konsha Zaspa, where it will prepare for its first match of the championship – on 11 June against Sweden. The Ukrainian team will play the national team of Turkey in Ingolstadt

on 5 June. In the German town, which has a population of just over 100,000, tickets are already on sale for this match. A reminder that the team’s preparations will involve Oleh Blokhin holding three training camps with the squad. The first is in the Turkish city of Belek from 15 to 24 May. Then the team will go to the Austrian Tyrol, where it will train for another 10 days. On 28 May a game is scheduled against the national team of Estonia in Kufstein, and on 1 June in Innsbruck the Ukrainian team will play a match against the Austrians.

У Львові на Євро діятиме «гаряча лінія» для іноземців Під час Євро-2012 в складних ситуаціях іноземці можуть звертатись у Львові на гарячу лінію 261-09-30. Допомога надаватиметься англійською, німецькою, польською, португальською та данською мовами. Також впроваджується прямий Skype-зв’язок з Державною міграційною службою України (м. Київ),

прямі зв’язки з консульськими представництвами іноземних держав, якщо питання буде саме в їх компетенції. Оператори на гарячій лінії працюватимуть з 09:00 до 18:00, в позаробочий час на автовідповідачі буде відтворюватися повідомлення з мобільними контактами працівників у разі потреби.

During EURO 2012 foreigners will be able to turn to hotline number 261-0930 if they find themselves in difficult situations. Assistance will be provided in the English, German, Polish, Portuguese, and Danish languages. A direct Skype line – communication with the State Migration Service of Ukraine (Kyiv), will also be set up as will be direct contact with the consular offices of foreign countries if the issue in question is part of their remit. Operators on the hot line will work from 09:00 to 18:00 and during non-working hours an answer machine message will play to provide the mobile phone contact numbers of staff if necessary. В травні свої двері для пасажирів відкрили нові аеровокзальні комплекси в Донецьку, Жулянах (МА «Київ») та Борисполі. Усі термінали спроектовані відповідно до останніх дизайнерських і технологічних рішень й оснащені найсучаснішим обладнанням, функціональна актуальність якого зберігатиметься та служитиме Україні ще багато років після Євро-2012.

Президент подякував проектантам, інженерам та будівельникам за самовіддану роботу, після чого відкрив меморіальну дошку відомому донецькому композитору Сергію Прокоф’єву, на честь якого в листопаді 2011 року назвали аеропорт. Дошка розміщена всередині терміналу, виглядає як великий портрет композитора і має напис «Сергей Прокофьев – величайший и самый исполняемый композитор ХХ века. ЮНЕСКО, 1999 год».

ДОНЕЦЬКА СМУГА – УНІКАЛЬНА

Саме столиця Донбасу отримала, по суті, найунікальніший в Україні аеро порт. Він може приймати будь-які види літаків, обслуговувати найбільші повітряні судна у світі, зокрема, Airbus-380. Своєрідне «випробування» на міцність летовище вже пройшло: 28 липня 2011 року відкриття нової злітно-посадкової смуги в Донецьку ознаменувала посадка найбільшого у світі вантажного літака «Мрія». А вже на відкриття нового терміналу прибув другий за пасажиромісткістю в світі літак – Boeing-747. Унікальність донецького летовища полягає, насамперед, в його злітнопосадковій смузі. Вона може приймати літаки будь-якого типу. У грудні 2011 року аеродром отримав ІІІ А категорію Міжнародної організації цивільної авіації (ІСАО). Відповідно до цієї категорії, посадку в Донецьку можна здійснювати в умовах нульової видимості, що позитивно позначиться на здійсненні рейсів за розкладом. Доповненням до високотехнологічного аеродрому став сучасний потужний термінал, який перш за все спрямований на забезпечення зручності та якісного обслуговування пасажирів. Роботи з будівництва аеровокзалу стартували наприкінці квітня 2010 року. Спорудження велося цілодобово, на14

віть за несприятливих погодних умов, щодня на об’єкті було задіяно до 1,5 тисячі осіб й орієнтовно 100 одиниць техніки. 15 травня 2010 року, згідно з графіком, завершено роботи зі створення фундаментної плити будівлі. А вже до початку літа 2011 року був зведений каркас будівлі, фасад якої згодом облицювали склом і гранітними плитами. Сучасна будівля терміналу відповідає всім вимогам комфорту та безпеки. Тепер новий аеровокзальний комплекс зможе приймати літаки будь-якого типу, при цьому пропускна здатність збільшилася в 10 разів – з 300 до 3100 пасажирів на годину. Термінал має сім поверхів, з них три основні. Висота будівлі – 19 метрів, а в найвищій частині – 23 метри. Загальна площа об’єкту – 58 тисяч кв. м, залів очікування – 5 тисяч кв. м, комерційних об’єктів – 4 тисяч кв. м.

ПОРЯД З ТЕРМІНАЛОМ – АВТОВОКЗАЛ

У новому терміналі пасажири, що прибувають і відбувають, як у всіх сучасних аеропортах, знаходяться на різних рівнях, тому вони не будуть перетинатися один з одним, що особливо важливо при великих пасажиропотоках. Будівля аеропорту складається з 3-х основних рівнів і 1-го проміжного. На нижньому рівні розташовані зал видачі багажу, зал прильоту і подальший

ляють безперешкодно переміщатися з місць паркування автотранспорту в зону вильоту. Також передбачена сучасна організація обслуговування маломобільних груп населення.

НА ДОНБАСІ З’ЯВИЛАСЯ НАЙВИЩА АВІАВЕЖА

вихід у місто до автобусної станції і місць паркування автотранспорту. На середньому рівні – зал вильоту, зона реєстрації та оформлення багажу авіапасажирів. На верхньому рівні знаходиться зал контролю авіабезпеки та авіаконтролю, зона Duty Free, зала вильоту. На проміжному рівні розташована зона для трансферних пасажирів. За таким же принципом побудована транспортна естакада, загальною довжиною 322,6 метра. На естакаді та під нею – три смуги руху. Машини, що в’їжджають і виїжджають, не будуть перетинатися в одному потоці. Паркувальних же місць в оновленому терміналі повинно вистачити усім бажаючим. Інфраструктура нового аеровокзалу передбачає триповерховий паркінг на 605 машин, у тому числі і для малорухомих груп пасажирів, а також відкриті паркінги на 1004 машини та 20 автобусів. Новий термінал оснащений п’ятьма посадковими телетрапами з перехідними галереями. Ними авіапасажири можуть потрапити або безпосередньо на борт повітряного судна, або на перони, де базуються аеродромні автобуси для доставки пасажирів на посадку в літаки. Переміщення пасажирів усередині будівлі з одного рівня на інший передбачено за допомогою ліфтів і ескалаторів, яких є усього 38. Дві пішохідні галереї, що з’єднують будівлю аеровокзалу і паркінги, дозво-

Окрім терміналу, в рамках реконструкції аеропорту Донецька також було побудовано найвищу в Україні аеродромно-диспетчерську вежу, висотою з 14-поверховий будинок (45 м). Вона призначена для виявлення повітряних суден, вимірювання параметрів їхнього руху, отримання інформації, необхідної для управління повітряним рухом як в районі аеродрому, так і на повітряних трасах, а також забезпечення безпечного зльоту і посадки літаків, контролю за їхнім розташуванням на злітно-посадковій смузі. Загалом на розвиток і реконструкцію МА «Донецьк» до Євро-2012 було виділено 6064,598 млн грн, які надійшли з державного та місцевих бюджетів у рамках реалізації Державної цільової програми з підготовки України до Євро-2012. З 15 травня новий термінал почав обслуговувати міжнародні рейси, перший з яких вилетів до чеської Праги. Водночас, як повідомив Віце-прем’єр – Міністр інфраструктури Україна Борис Колесніков, після Євро-2012, тобто з 1 серпня, аеровокзал почне приймати внутрішні рейси. «З цього періоду новий термінал буде працювати у двосистемному режимі. Пасажир, який прилітає з Одеси і вилітає в Красноярськ, не буде покидати термінал взагалі, – наголосив пан Колесніков. – У 1991-му році аеропорт прийняв рекордні для себе два мільйони пасажирів. Цього року ми плануємо обслужити 1,2 млн, і хочемо довести цю цифру в 2015-му до 4 млн. Однак тут є все, щоб приймати понад 5 млн гостей».

ТЕРМІНАЛ D «БОРИСПОЛЯ»: ТЕХНОЛОГІЇ ТА КОМФОРТ

Майже втричі більше пасажирів за рік може прийняти оновлений термінал D аеропорту «Бориспіль». Подібний термінал – головна ознака авіаційної революції в Україні. Після офіційного відкриття і запуску наприкінці травня, новозбудований термінал D «Борисполя» став найбільшим в Україні. Його площа становить 107 тисяч м кв., більше того, є можлиUKRAINE 2012 15

вість в перспективі розширити будівлю: проект об’єкту це передбачає. Для того щоб вилетіти з нового аеровокзалу, потрібно під’їхати на 3-й поверх естакадою. Потім пасажири потрапляють у величезний зал з прозорим дахом та плиткою з дзеркальним ефектом. Це зона відльоту. Тут розташовані три великих інформаційних табло, шість пунктів продажу квитків. Стійок для реєстрації – 61. Знаходяться вони не вздовж стін, а розташовуються групами. Це економить місце, і пасажири не будуть накопичуватися на одній лінії. Після реєстрації пасажир на цьому ж поверсі проходить через один із 18 пунктів контролю на авіабезпеку. Далі – паспортний конт роль (стійок – 28) та митниця. Потім пасажири потрапляють у зал очікування довжиною в 870 метрів. Для зручності тут встановили також систему тревелаторів (рухома доріжка), яких у новому аеровокзалі є дванадцять. Швидкість їхнього руху – півметра за секунду. Мінімальна довжина одного з таких тревелаторів – 28 м, максимальна – 58 м. У терміналі розташовано 11 телетрапів, за якими потрапляєш прямо в літак. Аеромости можуть приймати 6 великих (класу Боїнг-747) та 5 невеликих (класу Боїнг-737) літаків. У перспективі можлива добудова галереї терміналу у північній частині та влаштування двох додаткових аеромостів. З телетрапів передбачені також виходи і до автобусів-шатлів. Тут же в залі очікування – магазини Duty Free, кафе, ресторани. Їх буде в 5 разів більше, ніж у терміналі F. 16

На першому поверсі розташована зона прильоту. Пасажир тут отримує багаж з однієї із п’яти влаштованих стрічок. До речі, термінал має унікальну для України автоматизовану систему обробки багажу, яка виключає втручання людини в процес комплектації рейсу. Щоб уникнути помилок при обробці багажу, тут установлено систему BRS (Baggage Reconciliation System). Її роботу контролює 60 відеокамер і більше тисячі датчиків. Подібні високотехнологічні системи діють в аеропортах Хітроу (Великобританія), Скіпхол (Нідерланди) та Осло (Норвегія). У цій частині терміналу також розміщена зала очікування для пасажирів, які прилетіли. На другому поверсі – теж зона прильоту. Щоб уникнути великих черг, встановлено 40 стійок паспортного контролю. Виділено тут і трансферну зону для пасажирів, які пересідають на інші рейси. Додатково в галереях на першому та другому поверхах розміщений термінал для обслуговування VIP-пасажирів, які матимуть окремі під’їзд і місця для паркування. На четвертому поверсі розташується бізнесзона та кафе. Для контролю роботи нового терміналу в ньому встановили цифрову систему відеонагляду. Вона включає в себе 360 відеокамер, за допомогою яких можна оглянути всі зони аеровокзалу. Внизу, біля виходу із зони прильоту терміналу, розташований паркінг Sky Taxi, білих Hyundai Sonata зі спеціальними позначками. Перед початком Євро таксопарк нараховував 100 таких автомобілів. *** Розвиток авіаційної інфраструктури України – одна з найважливіших складових успішної побудови здорової економіки країни. Із запуском до Євро-2012 нових терміналів аеропортів «Донецька» та «Борисполя» інвестиційна і туристична привабливість України буде незмінно зростати. Нові аеровокзали не тільки забезпечать комфорт для пасажирів, але й принесуть масу глобальних переваг. Ukraine has received three more upgraded airports on the eve of EURO 2012. New air terminal complexes in Donetsk, Zhulyany (Kyiv international airport) and Boryspil opened their doors to passengers in May. All the terminals have been designed in line with the most up-to-date designing and technological solutions and have been furnished with state-of-the art equipment: its functional actuality will remain unchanged, and it will serve Ukraine for many more years after EURO 2012.

ccording to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, quick but high-quality construction of the new terminals was one of the major tasks set Ukraine for EURO 2012. “We were obliged to demonstrate to the world community that Ukraine is a strong and rapidly developing country with personnel of a high professional level. We have successfully passed this examination,” the head of state emphasized during the festive inauguration of the new terminal in Donetsk. Participants of the festivities dedicated to the start of the new Donetsk air terminal operation were Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov, along with Head of the Donetsk Region State Administration Andriy Shyshatskyy. “Engineers, construction workers and designers needed more than two years to build this beautiful terminal. When the airport was built in the early 1930s, construction workers could not even imagine that a highly technological object of this kind would be in this place,” Viktor Yanukovych said in his welcoming address on the occasion of inauguration of the terminal. The president thanked designers, engineers and construction workers for their selfless work, and then opened a memorial plaque to the famous composer from Donetsk, Sergei Prokofiev, after whom the airport was named in November 2011. The plaque is located in the centre of the terminal; it looks like a large composer’s portrait and has the inscription: “Sergei Prokofiev, prominent and one of the most performed 20th-century composers. UNESCO, 1999”.

UNIQUE DONETSK RUNWAY

It is precisely the capital of Donbas that has actually got the most unique airport in Ukraine. It can receive any kind of planes and provide services to the world’s biggest 18

aircraft, and in particular, the Airbus-380. The airfield has already passed a kind of endurance “test”: inauguration of the new Donetsk runway on 28 July 2011 was marked with landing of the world’s largest cargo plane, the Mriya. The world’s second plane in terms of passenger capacity, the Boeing-747, landed at the inauguration of the new air terminal. The uniqueness of the Donetsk airfield actually lies in its runway. It can receive any type of planes. The airport received the III A category of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in December 2011. According to this category, planes are able to land in Donetsk in conditions of zero visibility, and this will have a positive impact on the making of scheduled flights. A modern high-capacity terminal has become a supplement to the highly technological airfield: it is primarily orientated at securing comfort and highquality services for passengers. Construction works at the terminal began in late April 2010. Construction works were carried out around the clock, even in unfavourable weather conditions, and up to 1,500 persons and approximately 100 units of equipment were involved in the object every day. Works in laying the foundation plate of the building were completed in line with the schedule on 15 May 2010. The frame of the building was completed by the beginning of 2011 summer, and then its façade was decorated with glass and granite plates. The modern terminal building complies with all comfort and security requirements. The new air terminal complex is already able to receive planes of any type, and meanwhile, its throughput capacity has increased 10-fold: from 300 to 3,100 passengers per hour. The terminal has seven floors, three of them being principal ones. The height of the building is 19 metres, and 23 metres in its

highest part. The total area of the object is 58,000 sq.m, its waiting space is 5,000 sq.m, and the area of commercial objects comes to 4,000 sq.m.

AIRPORT BUILDING NEAR TERMINAL

Just like in all modern airports, arriving and departing passengers are located at different levels of the new terminal, and so they will not intersect with each other, and this is especially important when passenger flows are intense. The airport building consists of three principal levels and an intermediary one. The baggage claim area, arrivals hall and exit to the city in the direction of the bus station and motor vehicles parking area are located at the lower level. Departures hall, passenger and baggage check-in area are at the middle level. The air security control area and flight control area, Duty Free area and departures area are located at the upper level. The area for transfer passengers is located at the intermediary level. A transport overpass with a total length of 322.6 metres has been built according to the same principle. There are three traffic lanes on the overpass and below it. The cars that enter and leave will not intersect in the same flow. There should be enough parking places at the upgraded terminal for everyone who wants to park there. The infrastructure of

the new air terminal envisages a threestorey parking area for 605 cars, including the ones for groups of passengers with low mobility, along with open parking areas for 1,004 cars and 20 buses. The new terminal has been equipped with five passenger boarding bridges with passage galleries. By using them, passengers will be able to reach either the board of the aircraft directly or the platforms where airfield buses for delivering passengers to planes for boarding are based. It has been envisaged to organize passengersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; movement from one level to another within the building with the help of lifts and moving staircases, their total number being 38. Two walking galleries, which connect the air terminal building and parking areas, enable people to freely reach the departures area from the motor transport parking area. Up-to-date organization of provision of services to groups of people with restricted mobility has been also envisaged.

HIGHEST AIR TOWER APPEARS IN DONBAS

In addition to the terminal, Ukraineâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s highest airport dispatcher tower with a height of a 14-storey building (45 m) has been built within the framework of Donetsk Airportâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s reconstruction. It is designated for aircraft detection, their UKRAINE 2012 19

flight parameters measurement, obtaining information necessary for air traffic control both in the airport area and on air routes, along with ensuring secure takeoff and landing of planes and control over their location in the runway. The total sum allocated for development and reconstruction of the Donetsk International Airport for EURO 2012 is 6,064.598 million hryvnyas. They have been received from the state and local budgets within the framework of implementation of the state target programme of Ukraine’s preparation for EURO 2012.

The new terminal started provision of international flight services as of 15 May, and the first flight was to Prague in the Czech Republic. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov has said that the air terminal will start receiving domestic flights after EURO 2012, and namely, as of 1 August. “From this pe20

riod, the terminal will start operating in double-system mode. A passenger arriving from Odessa and leaving for Krasnoyarsk will not leave the terminal at all,” Mr Kolesnikov emphasized. “The airport received its record figure of 2 million passengers in 1991. We plan to service 1.2 million this year, and we want this figure to reach 4 million in 2015. However, we have got everything here to receive over 5 million guests.”

TERMINAL D IN BORYSPIL: TECHNOLOGIES AND COMFORT

The upgraded Terminal D at Boryspil Airport is able to receive three times more passengers annually. A terminal of this kind is the main sign of a revolution in Ukrainian aviation. After its official inauguration and putting into operation, the newly built Terminal D at Boryspil became the biggest one in Ukraine. Its area is 107,000 sq.m, and moreover, it will be possible to enlarge the building in the future: the project of the object envisages this. In order to make a flight from the new air terminal, it is necessary to drive towards the third floor along the overpass. Then passengers enter a huge hall with a transparent roof and tiles with a mirror effect. This is the departures area. Three huge information boards and six outlets selling tickets are located here. The number of check-in stands is 61. They have not been placed along the wall but are located in groups. This spares space, and passengers will not accumulate along the same line. After the check-in, a passenger passes through one of the air security control checkpoints out of 18 on the same floor. This is followed by passport control (28 stands) and customs. Then passengers enter the waiting space, which is 870 metres long. A travelator (moving walkway) system has been also installed here for convenience, and there are 12 of them in the new air terminal. The speed of their movement is 0.5 m per second. The minimum length of one of these travelators is 28 m, and the maximum is 58 m. There are 11 passenger boarding bridges in the terminal leading directly into planes. Air bridges are able to receive six big planes (of Boeing-747 class) and five small ones (of Boeing-737 class). Construction of an additional terminal gallery in the northern part and arrangement of two additional air bridges are also possible in the future. Exits to shuttle buses from board-

ing bridges have been also envisaged. Duty Free shops, cafes and restaurants are also located in the waiting space here. There will be five times more of them than in Terminal F.

BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM AMONG THE BEST IN EUROPE

The arrivals area is located on the ground floor. Passengers get baggage here from one of the five conveyor belts located here. By the way, the terminal has a unique baggage handling system

for Ukraine: it excludes interference by people in the flight associating process. In order to avoid mistakes during baggage handling, the BRS (Baggage Reconciliation System) system has been installed here. Its operation is controlled by 60 video cameras and over 1,000 sensors. Highly technological systems of this kind have been installed at Heathrow (UK), Schiphol (the Netherlands) and Oslo (Norway) airports. Waiting space for arriving passengers is also located in this part of the terminal. There is also arrivals area on the second floor. In order to avoid long queues, 40 passport control checkpoints have been installed. A transfer area for those passengers changing their flights has been envisaged here as well.

In addition, a terminal for VIP passengers is located in galleries on the first and second floors. They will have special approaches and parking areas. A business area and café are located on the fourth floor. A digital video surveillance system has been installed in the terminal for control over its operation. It consists of 360 video cameras with the help of which all areas of the air terminal can be seen. A parking area for Sky Taxi, white Hyundai Sonata cars with special insignia, is located near the exit from terminal’s ar-

rivals area below. The fleet of these cars was 100 before the beginning of EURO. *** Development of Ukraine’s aviation infrastructure is one of the most important components of successful development of country’s sound economy. Вам уже доводилося працювати за новою схемою. Як вона? Усі судді дуже допомагають. У матчі виникає багато ситуацій, коли ти можеш порадитися з ними і з їхньою допомогою тотально контролювати дотримання правил гри. Які очікування від Євро? Хочу зробити свою роботу якнайкраще, щоб все було без помилок. А якщо вони і виникнуть, то щоб їх було якнайменше. А зараз я готуюся, вивчаю команди. Побачимо, як воно буде. Ви казали, що вже вивчаєте збірні. Які команди опрацювали? Я ознайомився з усіма національними командами, але й багато клубів також вивчив. Якщо ви хочете бути професійним рефері, то повинні знати якомога більше колективів, а також їхніх гравців разом із симуляціями, які вони роблять. Що чули про підготовку України до Євро? Вас не вражає, що країна по суті за роки побудувала всю необхідну інфраструктуру? Ми раді, що всі умови, які були створені українцями та поляками до Євро – від стадіонів до аеропортів – ідеальні. з тим, як себе поводить команда до того, як вона вийде зі мною на одне футбольне поле. Ви вже знайомі з розкладом групових матчів. Аналізуючи можливий перебіг подій на футбольному полі, чи є такі матчі, які хотіли б судити і які – ні? Як рефері я просто чекаю свого призначення на конкретний матч і тоді буду фокусуватися лише на ньому. Я не дивлюся, які зручні матчі, а які важкі. Я завжди тільки чекаю на моє

Скажіть, чи стане Євро-2012 для України каталізатором розвитку туризму? Я чітко розділяю, де моя одна частина життя, а де інша. Зараз я рефері, а тому не хотів би давати жодних коментарів щодо туризму. Сьогодні вся моя увага – на футбольне поле. Чи познайомилися Ви хоча б оглядово з командами Євро-2012? До речі, як Ви це робите? Всі думають, що рефері працює на футбольному полі максимум 90 хвилин. Це не так, футбол забирає 24 години на добу в нон-стоп режимі роботи. Цей час іде на підготовку фізичної форми та техніки. Ми маємо переглядати багато матчів як Ліги Європи, так і Ліги Чемпіонів. Маємо вивчити якомога більше команд та їхніх стратегій, аби потім не дивуватися якимось речам на полі. За свою професійну кар’єру я бачив багато матчів, постійно дивлюся футбол, тому що це моє життя. Що можете сказати про збірну України? Ніколи не оцінюю ані команди, ані їхніх гравців. Не хочу говорити про якісь персоналії. Але можете бути певні: я маю достатньо інформації про все, знайомий з поведінкою можливо й не всіх гравців, тому ще це зробити неможливо, однак сюрпризів для мене на полі небагато. У нас є практика збирати багато відеоінформації про ігри ключових гравців в клубах та за національні команди. Але на Євро ми конкретно сфокусуємося на збірних. Тепер будемо переглядати товариські матчі між країнами. І не якоїсь однієї команди, а всіх шістнадцяти. Маємо бути готові працювати на поєдинках за участю будь-якої збірної. Чи визначали для себе групові матчі, які хотіли б судити, а які воліли б віддати для роботи колегам? У футболі ніколи не буває легких матчів, особливо для рефері. Можливо, дехто, журналісти наприклад, вважає, що цей матч легкий, але насправді ніхто не може знати, що тра-

The referees of the 2012 European Championship are preparing for the tournament in the same way as players of national teams are improving their physical shape for EURO. Meanwhile, from now on seven persons will work within each referees team during tournament matches. Two additional assistants and a reserve assistant referee will be added to a referee, two assistants and the fourth referee. In line with novelties, UEFA announced the list of referees’ teams in late March 2012. They will be headed by Howard Webb (England), Carlos Velasco Carballo (Spain), Jonas Eriksson (Sweden), Viktor Kassai (Hungary), Bjorn Kuipers (Netherlands), Stephane Lannoy (France), Pedro Proenca (Portugal), Nicola Rizzoli (Italy), Damir Skomina (Slovenia), Craig Thomson (Scotland), Cüneyt Çakır (Turkey) and Wolfgang Stark (Germany). They all, along with their assistants and aides, gathered in Warsaw in early May within the framework of a preparatory seminar, where they conducted tests, received technical instructions and even found time to talk to journalists. Blitz interviews with the best EURO referees, given exclusively for the Ukraine 2012 magazine in one of the halls of the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw, are presented for your attention.

Nicola Rizzoli: EURO is ideal, from stadiums to airports

their players and, in the meantime, we do not interfere in issues of the tournamentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s organization.

Mr Rizzoli, what is your attitude to the new rules, in line with which a team of seven referees will work at EURO matches? This novelty of the European Championships will have a positive impact on the refereeing of matches. We form such teams and learn to communicate in the same language: the language of the field. We spend a great deal of time together, watch different matches on TV and then discuss them. We extend our communication this way.

Pierluigi Collina has said that all EURO referees will live at the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw. This means that you will fly from the Polish capital even to the match in Donetsk, and then you will come back. Is such practice common? Yes, this is absolutely normal, even if we cover long distances. There is normal practice when we come to European matches a day before the match: we have rest, then we work at the competition and fly back the day after the game. We shall consider all problem situations on the spot, here in Warsaw.

You have already happened to work according to the new scheme. What is it like? All the referees are very helpful. Many situations arise during a match when you are able to consult with them and to exercise total control over observance of the rules of the game with their help. What do you expect from EURO? I want to fulfill my work in the best possible way, to have everything without mistakes. But if they occur, their number should be minimal. I am getting ready and examining the teams now. Let us see what will happen. You have said that you are examining the teams. What teams have you already studied? I have familiarized myself with all national teams, but I have also studied many clubs. If you want to be a professional referee, you should know as many teams as possible, the same way as their players, along with their ways of simulation. What have you heard about Ukraineâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s preparations for EURO? Are you impressed with the fact that the country has built the whole infrastructure it needed within two years? We are happy that all conditions created by the Ukrainians and Poles for the EURO, from stadiums to airports, are ideal. But all referees are presently concentrating their attention only on the football field. We pay attention to examining teams and

Damir Skomina: Sheva and Tymoshchuk are top professionals Mr Skomina, have you ever visited Ukraine and are you familiar with Ukrainian fans? Yes, I happened to referee matches in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk. As regards the latter, I remember that it was a friendly match between national teams from Ukraine and the Netherlands at the Donbas Arena. What are your impressions of this EURO stadium? As far as I remember, it was built not very long ago. I have the most positive 28

impressions of Donbas Arena. This is a European level stadium. Each referee has his own approach to examining teams. What is your approach? I try to see as many clips of a team as is possible. This means that, should anything happen during the match, I am usually not very much surprised, as I could expect something of this kind. The point is that, if someone is impressed with anything, it will be difficult for him to resolve this problem. I always feel much

easier when I am familiar with the way a team behaves before it goes out to the same football field with me. Andriy Shevchenko and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk are probably the bestknown players of the Ukrainian national team in Europe. Being familiar with them in action, what can you say about their discipline? Both of them are great professionals. They always behave on the field as toplevel players.

Viktor Kassai: footbalers are emotional, so anything can happen on a football field Mr Kassai, along with working as a referee, you are also an expert in the tourism sector. Tell us: will EURO 2012 become a catalyst for the development of Ukraine’s tourism? I strictly distinguish between one part of my life and the other one. I am a referee now, and so I would not like to make any comments on tourism. All my attention is currently focused on the football field. Have you already familiarized yourself, at least on the exterior, with EURO 2012 teams? By the way, how do you do this? Everyone believes that a referee works not more than 90 minutes on a football field. This is not true: football takes 24 hours a day in non-stop working mode. This time is used for preparation of one’s physical shape and technique. We have to see many matches, both from the Europa League and the Champions League. We have to examine as many teams and their strategies as possible in order not to be surprised with certain things in the field later on. I have seen many matches during my professional career; I constantly watch football because this is my life. Have you heard anything about Ukraine’s preparations for Euro? I am convinced that UEFA and the organizing committees will fulfill their work in an ideal way. I constantly ready the UEFA website, and we collect information from it. I am convinced that there will be no problems with organizational issues. I have seen the stadiums: they are wonderful. I have heard positive comments from my colleagues who have visited different places in Ukraine: everything is fine with preparations there. What can you say about the Ukrainian national team? I never evaluate teams or their players. I do not wish to speak about certain personalities. But you may be sure: I have enough information about everything, I am familiar with the behavior of football players, probably not all of them because this cannot be

done, but there are not many surprises for me on the field. Our practice is to collect a lot of video much information about the performance of key players in clubs and national teams. But we shall focus specifically on national teams during the EURO. We shall now view friendly matches between countries, though not of a certain team, but of all 16. We should be ready to work during duels with the participation of any national team. Did you specify for yourself the group matches you would like to referee and the ones to be given to your colleagues for work? There are no easy matches in football, especially for referees. Someone, for example journalists, may think that a certain match is easy, but no-one may know what will actually happen during it in reality. It is quite common for the least expected things to take place during a game. The reason is that this is football, but people are not machines: they have emotions. It can be the case that all matches will be easy, and in the same vice versa. But all referees are ready for the most varied courses of developments on the pitch.

You are already aware of the schedule of group matches. Analyzing the possible course of events, are there matches that you would like to referee and ones that you would not? As a referee, I am just waiting for assignment to a specific match, and then I shall focus only on it. I do not pay attention to matches which are convenient and ones which are difficult. Щодо картоплі, тут ми лідируємо з показником 246 ккал/людина/день, випереджаючи Росію та Польщу. Більше того, тема кухні Євро-2012 так захопила українців, що спеціально, аби єврофанам запропонувати відбірні національні смаковинки, в Україні організували конкурс на найкращий рецепт традиційної української страви «Смакуй, Країно!». В рамках акції нашим громадянам було запропоновано надіслати свої рецепти, за кращі з яких потрібно було голосувати на спеціально створеному Інтернет-сайті або з допомогою sms. За підсумками конкурсу було створено Національне меню, до якого увійшли 10 стравфіналістів. Серед них – український борщ, запорізький капусняк, сало з часником, холодець, деруни традиційні, домашня ковбаса, налисники з сиром, запечене порося з гречаною кашею, вареники з капустою і грибами, пиріг з яблуками.

Свою думку щодо страв національної кухні, якими потрібно в першу чергу частувати іноземних фанів Євро, висловили й зіркові українці. Так, на переконання актора і ведучого Остапа Ступки, вболівальники, які завітають до України, мають скуштувати червоний борщ з пампушками, м’ясні завиванці, фаршировані чорносливом, а також деруни. «Із солодкого я запропонував би їм вареники з вишнями та млинці з різним начинням», – зазначив Ступка. Окрім цього, він додав, що з напоїв запропонував би гостям узвар, а з «міцнішого» – горілку. Українську «вогняну воду» вболівальникам турніру рекомендує і співак Павло Зібров. «Фани обов’язково мають скуштувати борщ, пампушки з часником, вареники, деруни, а також голубці», – додав артист. На його думку, до смаку європейцям мають припасти й українські мінеральні води, особливо ті, що добуті в Карпатах та на Закарпатті. Свою думку щодо кухні Євро-2012 має і колишній тренер київського «Динамо» та національної збірної, а нині старший тренер юнацької збірної України Олександр Головко. Він впевнений, що фани, які приїдуть в нашу країну на Євро, закохаються в традиційну українську кухню. А для журналу «Ukraine 2012» футбольний функціонер назвав п’ятірку страв для іноземних гостей. «Мої топ-5 українських страв для єврофанів – борщ, сало, вареники, кисіль та пампушки. Це все вболівальники з-за кордону просто зобов’язані спробувати в Україні», – зазначив Головко. Він додав, що наша країна має всі продукти для європейців, однак усі ці харчі в українських національних стравах набирають свого смаку. «Щодо мене особисто, то я не перебираю їжею. Буваючи в багатьох країнах світу, встиг покуштувати і східну, і західну кухні. Смачною може бути навіть картопля-фрі», – резюмував старший тренер юнацької збірної України. Construction of stadiums, airports, roads and hotels for EURO is already behind us. And during the days remaining, Ukraine is focusing its attention on the practical aspects of hosting fans, and namely: attractions that can be offered to them, search of proposals in order to get unforgettable impressions, along with choice of delicious food options. The latter issue is topical as never before because Europeans, being fastidious in food, may wish to eat the same meals as at home, but they will definitely turn to Ukrainian national cuisine as well, and experts say that it has every chance of making guests love Ukraine.

n terms of its versatility, mastery of workmanship and gustatory qualities, Ukrainian cuisine is at the same level with the most popular cuisines from Italy, Japan, India, China or Mexico. This is the opinion of the director of the AgriSurvey agency of the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club, Taras Hahalyuk. “While the ones to become EURO 2012 champions are not yet known, the traditions of Ukrainian national cuisine will make their contribution in having Ukraine regarded, if not a European champion, then at least one of European leaders in consuming certain kinds of products,” the expert noted. According to UN Food and Agricultural Organization’s statistics on consumption of the major products necessary for people’s vital activity in the 16 EURO 2012 participating countries, it turns out that Ukraine holds third spot in milk consumption (233 kcal/person/day), second position in sugar consumption (418 kcal/person/day) and second place in honey consumption (12 kcal/person/day). As regards potatoes, we are leaders here, having the figure of 246 kcal/person/day and being ahead of Russia and Poland. According to Mr Hahalyuk, these consumers’ preferences serve as important information for EURO 2012 guests: it will be interesting for them to familiarize themselves with the traditions of Ukrainian national cuisine in order to know what dishes will be offered to them during the football championship. Moreover, the theme of EURO 2012 cuisine captivated Ukrainians so much that the Relish, Ukraine! contest for the best recipe of a Ukrainian national meal has been specially organized in Ukraine in order to offer EURO fans selected delicious meals. Within the framework of the promotion, our citizens were asked to send in their recipes, and it will be necessary to vote for the best of them on a specially created website or with the help of SMS. A national menu has been formed on the basis of the results of the contest. It consists of 10 dishes which reached the final, including Ukrainian borsch (beetroot soup), Zaporizhzhya cabbage soup, pork fat with garlic, jellied minced meat, traditional potato pancakes, home-made sausage, pancakes with cheese, baked piglet with boiled buckwheat, dumplings with cabbage and mushrooms and apple pie.

Ukrainian stars have also expressed their views with regard to the national dishes that should be offered to foreign EURO fans first and foremost. For example, actor and presenter Ostap Stupka believes the fans who will visit Ukraine should try red borsch with fritters, meat rolls stuffed with prunes and potato pancakes. “As regards sweet courses, I would offer them dumplings with cherries and pancakes with different stuffing,” Stupka noted. He added that, besides this, he would have offered guests stewed fruit, and vodka as a “stronger” drink. Singer Pavlo Zibrov also recommends Ukrainian “fire-water” to tournament fans. “Fans have to taste borsch, fritters with garlic, dumplings, potato pancakes and stuffed cabbage rolls,” the artist added. In his opinion, Europeans should like the taste of Ukrainian mineral waters, especially the ones extracted in the Carpathian Mountains and in the Transcarpathian Region. The former Dynamo Kyiv and national team coach, presently a senior coach of the Ukrainian national youth team, Oleksandr Holovko, has his own opinion about the EURO 2012 cuisine too. He believes that the fans who will visit our country during EURO will fall in love with traditional Ukrainian cuisine. Moreover, the football functionary has named five meals for foreign guests to the Ukraine 2012 magazine. “My top-5 Ukrainian meals for EURO fans are borsch, pork fat, dumplings, thin jelly and fritters. Foreign fans are just obliged to taste all of this in Ukraine,” Holovko noted. He has added that our country has got all products for Europeans, but all these foodstuffs acquire their own special taste in Ukrainian national meals. “For me personally, I am not fastidious in food. While visiting many countries of the world, I have managed to taste both eastern and western cuisine. Even potato fries may be delicious,” the senior coach of Ukraine’s national youth team summed up. TOP-5 EURO meals 1. Ukrainian borsch. “There cannot be a national menu without well-known Ukrainian borsch, and besides this, if it is with flavoured fritters. Delicate meat broth with beloved vegetables, sated in their rich colour, will not leave anyone indifferent,” Sofiya Kushch from Kyiv notes in her recipe.

2. Pork fat with garlic.

“Of course, Ukrainians are not simple people: they have their own character. Nothing but flavoured pork fat with garlic better reflects the uniqueness and sharp tongue of our compatriots. Light, delicious and laconic: this dish became an irreplaceable symbol of the rich Ukrainian table a long time ago,” Valeriy Lynevych from Chervonohvardiysk, Crimea, says, whilst proposing that the well-known national product be tasted.

3. Traditional potato pancakes (tertyukhs).

“We, Ukrainian people, are real masters in inventing new recipes with seemingly ordinary products. Traditional potato pancakes, or tertyukhs, are a delicious example of this, and they have also won their place on the pedestal of taste,” a lady from Vinnytsya, Nataliya Hurash, says, speaking about the potato meal.

4. Pancakes with cheese.

“This meal will become the guarantee of a light and sweet day for sure. Exquisite, airy and tender pancakes with cheese will be helpful for you to begin the day harmonically, and they will not force you to stay near the oven for a long time,” this is how Iryna Sukha from Kyiv Region enjoys this dish.

5. Dumplings with cabbage and mushrooms.

“This original dish still remains a traditional and beloved one among Ukrainians. The dumplings, stuffed with light golden onion dressing, just run to your mouth!” Larysa Ostapko from Novovolynsk says whilst sharing her cooking recipe.

Термінал оснащений сучасним обладнанням для реєстрації пасажирів та обробки багажу, контролю та безпеки. Передбачено окремий зал для обслуговування пасажирів, які подорожують бізнес-класом і окремий VIP-зал площею 1500 м кв. З 14 тисяч м кв. загальної площі терміналу 2000 м кв. займають: 4 ресторани, 5 барів, 3 магазини безмитної торгівлі, 2 кімнати матері і дитини, авіакаси, пункти про-

кату автомобілів, аптечний кіоск, відділення банку. Проектна пропускна спроможність терміналу – 320 пасажирів на годину на виліт. Але в процесі будівництва, завдяки застосуванню нових методів реєстрації пасажирів (он-лайн реєстрація, стійки самореєстрації), оптимізації внутрішнього простору аеровокзалу вдалося збільшити пропускну здатність до 500 пасажирів на годину на виліт.

New air terminal opened at Zhulyany Airport in Kyiv The ceremonious opening of a new terminal took place on 17 May at the Kyiv (Zhulyany) Airport in the capital. These air gateways will receive senior UEFA officials during EURO 2012. «This airport is the most successful example of a private and public partnership. I assure you that the Ministry of Infrastructure is ready to build a runway in any big city if the investor guarantees the construction of such a great terminal,» Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov said at the opening of the terminal. The Vice Prime Minister said that from today Kyiv Airport has become the most convenient one for those who prefer to travel «from point to point». «I hope that the construction of these air gates will soon trigger construction of underground stations anywhere nearby», Mr. Kolesnikov said.

The terminal is equipped with modern equipment for checking in passengers and handling baggage and for passenger safety. There are separate halls for passengers traveling in business class and a separate VIP-room area of 1500 sq. m. Of the total of 14,000 square metres 2,000 sq. m. of the terminal are occupied by the following: 4 restaurants, 5 bars, 3 Duty Free shops, 2 mother and child rooms, air tickets sales points, car rental points, a pharmacy and the branch of a bank. The passenger throughput capacity of the terminal is 320 passengers per hour for departure. However, during construction, thanks to new methods of checking in of passengers (on-line check-in, self check-in) and optimization of internal terminal space the capacity could be increased to 500 passengers per hour for departure.

Феєрверком із серпантину, як на фіналах Ліги чемпіонів та чемпіонатів Європи, завершився перший «Національний кубок шкільного футболу Євро-2012». Під оплески 46 тисяч уболівальників чотири найкращі команди приймали нагороди з рук представників футбольного бомонду: медалі, копії кубків Анрі Делоне і квитки на вирішальні матчі чемпіонату Європи вручали Генеральний секретар УЄФА Джанні Інфантіно, Віце-прем’єр-міністр України – Міністр Інфраструктури Борис Колесніков, Міністр освіти і науки, молоді та спорту Дмитро Табачник, Президент федерації футболу Григорій Суркіс.

Кубок їде до Сум

Фінал видався на славу. Символічно, що обидві команди, а у вирішальному матчі зійшлися школи №18 міста Сум та їхні однолітки з Тернопільської школи-ліцею №13, виступали у формі національної збірної України. Перші в «гостьовій» – синій, другі в «домашній» – жовтій. Такими ж кольорами, що цікаво, НСК зустріне глядачів й у першому матчі команди Олега Блохіна на Євро-2012. 11 червня наша збірна прийматиме на «Олімпійському» шведів, кольори прапора яких повністю збігаються з українськими. За кілька тижнів, щоправда, скандинавська команда буде гостем, тож ми, безумовно, вболіватимемо за «жовтих». У фіналі шкільного кубку симпатії вболівальників розділилися. Трохи більша підтримка була на боці Сум, за яких вболівав численний десант вихованців київського ліцею імені Богуна. Симпатії киян, між тим, можна зрозуміти, адже учасник фіналу з Тернополя у півфіналі на останніх хвилинах матчу вибив з розіграшу представників Київщини – команду школи Петропавлівської Борщагівки. Обидві команди розпочали матч дуже обережно. Відчувалося притаманне через велику кількість глядачів хвилювання футболістів. Першими освоїлися сумчани, одна з атак яких завершилася навалою у воротарському

майданчику «господарів» і влучним ударом Костянтина Гордієнка. Небезпека до воріт тернопільчан прийшла з правого флангу, тож їхній тренер Василь Івегеш одразу провів заміну. І, як кажуть, вгадав. Результативні атаки його команди розвивалися саме праворуч: Ігор Гриник і Микола Левчук зуміли зробити перевагу господарів досить комфортною. Втім, сумчани після перерви відігралися: разом з воротарем м’яч у ворота заштовхнув Зурабі Чантурія. Не виявили переможця й два додаткові тайми по 5 хвилин. Відтак доля фіналу вирішувалася в післяматчевих 11-метрових, які краще виконали школярі Сум. – Я взагалі-то тренер з легкої атлетики, – каже наставник команди-переможця Оксана Рахматулліна. – Основу збірної нашої школи становлять учні 11-Г класу, де я є класним керівником. Чотири найкращі команди отримали копії кубків Анрі Делоне, по два десятки м’ячів «Танго 12», якими гратимуть на Євро-2012, та квитки на матчі Євро2012. Успіх, вважаю, прийшов до нас невипадково. Ми з четвертого класу разом, постійно тренуємося. Якось навіть хотіли створити спортивний спецклас, і батьки були не проти. Якось не склалося, проте ми не припиняли тренування. Будь-яке заняття майже завжди завершували грою у футбол. Тобто у Вас не суто футбольний клас? Хлопці добре знаються на багатьох видах спорту. Вигравали навіть першість міста по баскетболу. Хоча пріоритет, звичайно, за футболом. Раніше доходили до чвертьфіналу та півфіналу на всеукраїнських змаганнях. Росли з кожним роком і ось, нарешті, стали переможцями. Ми безмежно щасливі. Мабуть, хотіли виграти трохи більше, ніж наші суперники. Найкращими гравцями фіналу стали воротарі Роман Равлик (Тернопіль) і Микита Сітнер (Суми), захисник Роман Прощенко, півзахисник Ілля Шепотько, нападаючий Віталій Катеринін (усі – Суми).

Як Вам організація змагань? Усе просто чудово! Футбол, та ще й на «Олімпійському» – це свято для нас. Звичайно, важко, коли за півтора місяці треба провести 12–15 матчів. Але це й дуже добра школа загартування характеру. Навіть у фіналі, програючи, хлопці змогли заспокоїтися та зрівняти рахунок. Головне, що вони хочуть працювати, працюють і до-

сягають, у підсумку, результату. Цей фінал, на якому вболівали 46 тисяч глядачів, їм, звичайно, запам’ятається на все життя. Але, підкреслю, футбол їх навчив долати труднощі. Ця риса їм допоможе знайти своє місце в житті.

Турнір стане традиційним

Більше десяти тисяч команд, вісім тисяч матчів, мільйони вболівальників – такий підсумок «Національного кубку шкільного футболу Євро-2012». Завдяки його проведенню майбутній чемпіонат Європи завітав у кожен куточок країни. Понад двісті тисяч учнів грали на найкращих стадіонах, в тому числі на всіх аренах Євро, і кожен отримав пам’ятний знак – диплом учасника. Символічно, що у фінальній грі зійшлися команди з регіонів, де професійний футбол поки що в занепаді. Як виявилося, Гру там люблять не менше, ніж, скажімо, в Києві та Донецьку, Харкові і Львові. Хто знає, можливо, успіх дитячих команд Сум та Тернополя у «Шкільному кубку» дасть поштовх для розвитку в областях команд-майстрів. Ймовірно, саме жага до можливості зіграти на суперсучасних аренах і долучитися великого футболу й допо-

Не думали над тим, щоб зробити турнір міжнародним? Розумієте, у нас було обмаль часу. Ідею «Шкільного кубку» підказав мер Лондона Борис Джонсон в березні. Вони проводять змагання серед школярів напередодні Олімпійських ігор. У нас було близько 60 діб, щоб провести аналогічний турнір для популяризації Євро-2012. Міжнародні дитячі змагання ми б не встигли провести. Хоча ідея дуже хороша.

МОВОЮ ФАКТІВ Турнір розпочався 20 березня. На старт вийшли близько 12 тисяч команд майже всіх шкіл країни. Загалом проведено більше 6 тисяч матчів. Матчі «Шкільного кубку» відвідали більше 3 мільйонів глядачів – більше, ніж у сукупності зібрали протягом сезону всі команди-майстрів України. В організації взяли участь такі майстри шкіряного м’яча, як Володимир Мунтян, Анатолій Дем’яненко, Юрій Калитвинцев, Ростислав Поточняк, Андрій П’ятов, Тарас Михалик, Дмитро Чигринський та інші. Ідею змагань – популяризувати здоровий спосіб життя і долучити кожного до участі в гігантській справі з підготовки до Євро-2012 – селекціонери клубів-майстрів розширили до так званої ярмарки талантів: найкращі школярі отримали запрошення від футбольних академій.

Паралельно, що цікаво, відбувалося заочне змагання серед організаторів «Шкільного кубку» на місцях. Перед початком матчів в багатьох містах проходили театралізовані вистави. В деяких регіонах учасники вирішальних матчів були одягнуті в форму національних збірних – учасників чемпіонату Європи. Крім оголошених призів, в регіонах спеціальні нагороди приготувала місцева влада. У Криму, наприклад, встановили навіть грошові премії, у Києві заклали алею Євро-2012, в багатьох інших областях переможці отримали путівки на оздоровлення під час літніх канікул. Ідею «Шкільного Євро» підхопили дівчата й дипломати. Шкільний футбол свого часу дав путівку в життя багатьом відомим українським футболістам. З двору починали шлях до зірок такі майстри шкіряного м’яча, як Андрій Шевченко, Дмитро Чигринський, Олег Блохін, Анатолій Бишовець, Йожеф Сабо, Анатолій Коньков тощо. Дитячі і юнацькі змагання всіляко підтримує Європейський союз футбольних асоціацій. В УЄФА навіть є кілька програм, згідно з якими він надає фінансову допомогу національним федераціям для розвитку масового футболу. Його керівники свого часу також залюбки ганяли м’яч після школи. Серед них і Генеральний секретар УЄФА Джанні Інфантіно, котрий відвідав Київ спеціально для вручення нагород переможцям «Шкільного кубку». «Футбол – це пристрасть, емоції та повага, – каже Джанні Інфантіно. – Це диво, яке змушує закохатися з першого дотику до м’яча. Я дуже вдячний пану Борису Колеснікову, котрий придумав, реалізував ідею «Шкільного кубку» і запросив мене на фінальний матч. Юнацькі турніри – це своєрідна школа, яка дає можливість рости здоровими і цивілізованими людьми, виховувати силу волі. Це дуже прекрасна ініціатива. І перший фінал наймасштабнішого турніру на НСК «Олімпійський». Наступний відбудеться 1 липня, коли дві найкращі команди Євро-2012 визначать переможця. Ми побачили прекрасний футбол. Перемогу здобула «українська» команда. «Команда дітей Придністровського регіону, що виступала під прапором України, виграла дитячий турнір, але головне навіть не в перемозі, а в тому, що загальними зусиллями нам вдалося влаштувати дітям свято, де перемогла дружба. Вони запам’ятають його як знаменну подію, яка зближує два берега Дністра», – підкреслив посол України в Молдові Сергій Пирожков.

Вечір, присвячений вирішальному матчу «Національного кубку шкільного футболу Євро-2012», на НСК «Олімпійський» вів заслужений журналіст України, майстер спорту Олександр Липенко. У його послужному списку – сотні ігор калібру Ліги чемпіонів, Ліги Європи, за участю національних команд. Але фінал «Шкільного кубку» зайняв в діяльності журналіста особливе місце. «За професійну журналістську діяльність я провів більше 600 матчів найвищого рівня, – розповідає Олександр Липенко. – Працював також на відкритті НСК «Олімпійський», де збірні України та Німеччини розіграли результативний трилер, на першому матчі на «Арені Львів», де наша команда змогла вирвати перемогу в австрійців. Проте фінал «Шкільного кубку» в Києві справив на мене особливе враження. Думаю, він гідний Книги рекордів Гіннеса, адже ніколи і ніде матч за участю шкільних команд не збирав більше 46 тисяч глядачів! На мій погляд, є щось символічне в тому, що до фіналу дійшли команди з провінційних за футбольними мірками міст. Відзначу, в першу чергу, суддівство. Були в «Шкільному кубку» свої фаворити, але до фіналу жоден з них не дійшов. Арбітри показали зразкову роботу, що, зізнатися, дуже сподобалося. Бо в таких змаганнях, коли боротьбу за перемогу ведуть дитячі команди, навіть один неправильний сигнал свистка рефері може похитнути віру в справедливість на все життя. Перед початком фіналу я зайшов до роздягалень команд, розповів хлопцям, де сидять перед іграми Шовковський, Шевченко, які місця займали гравці збірної Німеччини. Там все було, як у майстрів, – апельсини, чай, кава в роздягальнях. Думаю, фіналісти відчули дух змагань великого футболу. Я в захваті. The first EURO 2012 National School Football Cup ended with a serpentine firework, just like the Champions League and European Championship finals. To the applause of 46,000 fans, the four best teams received awards from the hands of representatives of the football beau monde: medals, copies of the Henri Delaunay Cup and tickets to decisive matches of the European Championship were presented by UEFA Secretary-General Gianni Infantino, Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov, Education, Science, Youth and Sports Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk and the President of the Football Federation of Ukraine, Hryhoriy Surkis.

CUP HEADS TO SUMY

Four best teams have received copies of the Henri Delaunay Cup, 20 Tango 12 balls which will be used for play during EURO 2012 and tickets to EURO 2012 matches. The team from Sumy will attend the final, the one from Ternopil will come to the semi-final, and those from Petropavlivska Borshchahivka and Kirovohrad will be present at the quarter-finals.

The final turned out to be pretty fine. Symbolically, the two teams that met in the final match (the ones from the Sumy City School No 18 and their counterparts of the same age from the Ternopil SchoolLyceum No 13) played in the strip of the Ukrainian national team. The first had the “guest” blue strip, and the others the “home” yellow one. It is interesting that the NSC will also meet spectators of the first match of Oleh Blokhin’s team at EURO 2012 with the same colours. Our national team will receive the Swedes in the Olympic on 11 June, and the colours of their flag fully coincide with ours. However, the Scandinavian team will be a guest some weeks later, and therefore we shall undoubtedly support the “yellow” team. The sympathies of the fans at the School Cup final were split. There was somewhat greater support for the Sumy side: a strong mission of students from the Kyiv-based Bohun Lyceum was among their fans. Meanwhile, the support of the fans from Kyiv can be understood: the reason is that participants of the final from Ternopil kicked the team from the Petropavlivska Borshchahivka School representing Kyiv Region out of the tournament during the last minutes of their semi-final match. Both teams began the match very cautiously. You could feel the nerves of the football players: this usually occurs when many spectators are present. The players from Sumy were the first to adapt, and one of their attacks ended with an attack on the “host” goal area and Kostyantyn Hordiyenko’s precise shot. The threat came to the Ternopil goal from the right flank, and therefore their coach Vasyl Ivehesh immediately made a substitution. But, as people say, he guessed right. His team’s

resultant attacks developed precisely on the right: Ihor Hrynyk and Mykola Levchuk managed to make hosts’ advantage quite comfortable. However, the Sumy team got back into the game after the interval: Zurabi Chanturiya kicked the ball into the goal together with the goalkeeper. Extra time of five minutes did not reveal the winner either. Therefore, the outcome of the final was decided by 11-metre kicks after the match, and the school children from Sumy performed them better. The winning team supervisor, Oksana Rakhmatulina, said this: – In general, I am a coach in athletics. Pupils from the 11-G form are the basis of our combined school team, and I am a form master there. I believe that this success did not come to us by accident. We have been together for four years and we train constantly. We once even wanted to make a special sports kit, and parents had nothing against this. For some reasons, this did not happen, but we did not stop training. Any class almost always ended with football being played. Therefore, the strip you have got is not a special football one? Boys are successful in many kinds of sports. They even won the city basketball tournament. However, football is obviously the priority. They previously reached the quarter-finals and semi-finals in Ukrainian nationwide competitions. They grew every year, and finally they became the winners. Our joy has no bounds. We probably wanted to win more than our rivals. How did you like the organization of the competition?

Everything is really wonderful! Football, and moreover, at the Olympic Stadium, is a feast for us. Of course, it is difficult for us when we have to play 12-15 matches within one-and-a-half months. But this is also a very good school for training character. Even when the boys were losing in the final, they managed to settle down and equalise. The most important point is that they are willing to work; they work and finally achieve their result. Of course they will remember this final for their whole lives, as they were supported by 46,000 spectators. But let me emphasize that football has taught them to overcome difficulties. This ability will help them to find their place in life.

TOURNAMENT TO BECOME TRADITIONAL

More than 10,000 teams, 8,000 matches and millions of fans are the result of the EURO 2012 National School Football Cup. Thanks to its staging, the future European Championship has come to every single part of the country. Over 200,000 pupils played in the best stadiums, including all EURO arenas, and everyone has received a participant’s diploma as a souvenir. It is symbolic that teams from the regions where professional football is still in decline met in the final game. It has turned out that local people like the Game not less than, for example, in Kyiv, Do-

netsk, Kharkiv or Lviv. Who knows: probably, success of the children’s teams from Sumy and Ternopil in the School Cup will give an impulse to the development of great teams in the regions. Perhaps the aspiration to get an opportunity to play in state-of-the-art arenas and to get involved in great football has helped the regions, being provincial in terms of sports, to reach the final. Vice Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov has emphasized: – The cup with which the winner was awarded somewhat differs from the one for which national teams will start their battle on 8 June. But in my opinion, tickets to the tournament matches are of primary importance. Many people get such chance only once in their lifetime. People say that appetite comes with eating. Do you plan to make the tournament a traditional one? We are thinking about this. Around 12,000 teams have taken part in the School Cup competition, and the matches became a real feast for school pupils in towns and villages. The main point is that participants of these competitions are players who do not go in for football professionally. Therefore, everyone has a chance to demonstrate his capabilities and to get involved in the immense work of

They will remember it as a notable event bringing the two banks of the Dniester closer together,” the Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova, Serhiy Pyrizhkov, emphasized.

In the past school football has given a start in life to many famous Ukrainian football players. Children’s and youth competitions get all kinds of support from the Union of European Football Associations. UEFA even has several programmes in line with which it provides financial aid to national federations for developing mass football. Я в дитинстві нормально почував себе на різних майданчиках. Міг і в хокей грати, і в футбол, у баскетбол, теніс. Взагалі віддаю перевагу ігровим видам. 3) Хто, на Ваш погляд, найвидатніший спортсмен усіх часів? Всіх не перерахуєш. Та й не варто. В кожному виді спорту, в кожному поколінні є багато видатних особистостей. 4) Останній фільм, який дивилися. Віддаю перевагу документальним фільмам. Andriy Bal, one of the incumbent coaches of the national team, scored just one goal while playing for the USSR national team: it was against the Brazilians themselves at the World Cup in Spain. When the former Karpaty and Dynamo full-back is asked about this, he just smiles and adds that he had had more spectacular events in his life. These are ones like the 1977 World Junior Championships, where he had the captain’s armband and was the first one to raise the cup above his head, “golden” success at the 1980 European Championship among youth teams, four victories in the USSR Championship while playing for Dynamo Kyiv, and the same number in the Cup tournament. There were also bronze at the Olympic Games in Moscow and silver at Euro-1988.

1) Mr Bal, you have dedicated all your life to sports. But what talents could have turned you away from the football path? It was long ago. I am even unable to imagine myself beyond sports, though I attended a music school in childhood. I played the accordion. But I gave it up: football does not like to be replaced with anything else. 2) What kinds of sports, besides football, captivate you? There are many of them. When I was a child, I felt normal in different playgrounds. I could play hockey, football, basketball and tennis. In general, I prefer competitive sports.

11) Is there anything you are afraid of? I can hardly say off the top of my head. I shall answer with an aphorism: only a fool is not afraid of anything. 12) Tell me: what is the best way of chilling out? Of late I have been happy with Sudoku. 13) What three things would you take to a desert island? Matches, an axe and some rope. 14) What irritates you so much that you can lose your temper? I try to remain calm.

3) Who, in your opinion, is the most prominent sportsman of all times? It is difficult to list them all, and it is not worth doing this. There are many prominent figures in each type of sport and in each generation.

15) What expensive things did you buy most recently? It depends on what the word “expensive” implies. Prestigious cars and houses are not for me. I appreciate friendship much more.

4) What film did you see most recently? I prefer documentary films, something like Top Secret.

16) Is a million dollars little or much? It depends on the person. Everyone has got different requirements of life.

5) Who are your favourite actor and actress? There are many of them. Let me note The Godfather: Al Pacino, Marlon Brando… 6) Is a pet a family member? Yes, undoubtedly. I had cocker spaniel Charlie. I buried him last year. Now I have a Chihuahua. 7) What TV programme do you never miss? The news. 8) What are your cooking preferences? If you imply me as a cook, I can make perfect scrambled eggs, shish kebab and different grills. Otherwise, I am happy with everything cooked by my wife. 9) What is the most important event in your life? Life brings surprises every day. станній чемпіонат Європи увійшов в історію відкриттям нової футбольної ери. УЄФА в січні 2007 року очолив Мішель Платіні. Француз змінив на посаді Леннарта Юханссона, котрий керував організацією 17 років. За кілька місяців стало відомо, що наступне Євро вперше приймуть Україна й Польща. Майбутні господарі континентальних змагань на той час зберігали прекрасні шанси набути досвіду в фіналі чемпіонату Європи 2008. Проте якщо наші сусіди з завданням впоралися, то підопічні Олега Блохіна відбірну кампанію в підсумку провалили.

ПРИМХИ ЖЕРЕБУ

Негаразди розпочалися ще під час жеребкування. Ми, як команда, яка увійшла до вісімки найкращих команд Мундіалю 2006 року, через погані виступи на континентальній арені мали слабенький рейтинг. Потрапили в третій кошик, а з перших двох нам дісталися найсильніші на той час збірні світу – Італія та Франція. Зрозуміло, в такій компанії важливу роль відігравав календар відбірного турніру і, до честі нашого тренерського штабу, за столом переговорів Олег Блохін не пішов на поступки більш іменитим суперникам. Відтак жеребкування проводив УЄФА, тож на старті турніру всі суперники були приблизно в однакових умовах. Синхронно й стартували. До трьох фаворитів, щоправда, несподівано приєдналася збірна Шотландії, яка примудрилася взяти гору над французами – 1:0. Збірна України, в свою чергу, обіграла Грузію (3:2) та цілком прогнозовано поступилася в гостях італійцям – 0:2. Слід нагадати, що в той час Андрій Шевченко не міг знайти себе в «Челсі», тож тренер «синіх» Жозе Моурінью навіть до Києва приїхав, аби побачити,

як використовує форварда Олег Блохін. На «Олімпійському» наш капітан разом з партнерами в грі проти шотландців видали гарний матч, перемігши – 2:0. Якщо взяти до уваги також дві березневі зустрічі 2007-го, коли українці взяли гору над Фарерами та Литвою, то за тур до проміжного фінішу чотири команди йшли ніздря в ніздрю. Ми ділили перше місце з Францією та Шотландією, на два очки йшла позаду Італія. Сподівання на щасливий підсумок залишилися й після поразки у Франції – 0:2, адже якщо поділити очки з фаворитами, то в підсумку на перший план вийдуть результати, показані з аутсайдерами. Але саме тут нас і спіткала невдача. Провели мляву гру в Тбілісі – 1:1, і програли на власному полі італійцям – 1:2. Після того матчу залишалися лише теоретичні шанси, проте і їх перестали рахувати через місяць – у Шотландії – 1:3. Матчі з Фарерами (5:0), Литвою (0:2) та Францією вже нічого не вирішували. Підсумок: Італія – 29 очок, Франція – 26, Шотландія – 24, Україна – 17, Литва – 16, Грузія – 10, Фарери – 0. Що цікаво, до розширеного списку кандидатів до збірної нинішнього скликання претендують більшість з тих, хто намагався в складі збірної потрапити у фінал до Швейцарії та Австрії п’ять років тому. А омолодження національної команди відбулося за рахунок залучення до її лав Ярмоленка, Коноплянки, Ракицького, Селіна, Хачеріді, Гармаша й Девича, які замінили, відповідно, Ващука, Шелаєва, Єзерського, Русола, Несмачного і Вороб’я.

Гасло турніру – «Дай волю емоціям!» Серед головних нововведень турніру слід вважати представлення нової версії Кубка Анрі Делоне. Його розробила компанія Asprey London. На відміну від старого, зробленого Артю Бертраном 1960 року, у нього не знайшлося місця мармуровому постаменту й фігурці людини з м’ячем. Новий кубок зроблений з чистого срібла. Вага становить 8 кг, висота – 60 см. За новий трофей, окрім Італії, Франції та господарів турніру, приїхали змагатися також Німеччина, Греція, Іспанія, Голландія, Польща, Португалія, Росія, Румунія, Туреччина, Хорватія, Чехія й Швеція. Як видно, за винятком румун та турків, вся ця компанія буде й на Євро-2012. Що цікаво, не дуже, якщо порівняти рейтинги збірних того часу й нині, змінився й розклад сил. Фаворити ті самі. 2008-го на груповій стадії сталася лише одна несподіванка: перший етап

не змогла подолати збірна Франції, яка примудрилася здобути одне очко в грі з Румунією, посісти останнє місце, пропустивши вперед також збірні Голландії та Італії. А збудником спокою виступила збірна Росії. У групі з явним фаворитом – Іспанією, вона змогла витиснути максимум в іграх зі шведами та греками. Найцікавіше розпочалося в плейофф. У трьох матчах 1/4 фіналу доля переможця вирішувалася в додатковий час або в серії післяматчевих пенальті. Уникла зайвих енергетичних витрат лише збірна Німеччини, яка досить упевнено розібралася з португальцями. Раніше за інших вирішила справи й збірна Росії, де наче метелик порхав Аршавін, котрий не брав участь у стартових матчах через дискваліфікацію. Той матч з Нідерландами наші сусіди вважають найкращим в російській футбольній історії. Примітно, що голландці змогли перевести гру в овертайм лише на останніх хвилинах – відзначився ван Ністелрой. Однак на додатковий час у них вже не вистачило сил – 1:3. Росіян, підкреслимо, тренував голландський спеціаліст Гус Хіддінк.

В інших чвертьфіналах доля переможців вирішувалася в післяматчевих серіях пенальті. Не пощастило італійцям з іспанцями та хорватам з турками. В останньому двобої розігралася справжня драма. Хорвати вийшли вперед на 119-й хвилині – за мить до фінального свистка. Вже, мабуть, подумки й святкували, але на другій доданій до четвертого тайму хвилині Шентюрк відновив рівновагу. В дуелі ж 11-метрових за хорватів забив лише Срна, тоді як спарники реалізували всі спроби. Зразок старанності збірна Туреччини показала й у півфіналі проти Німеччини. У матчі через травми й дискваліфікації не змогли взяти участь одразу 9 футболістів. За таких проблем німцям вдалося схилити шальки терезів на свою користь лише на останній хвилині гри – 3:2. В передостанньому ж матчі турніру іспанці каменя на камені не залишили від росіян – 3:0.

ІСПАНІЯ ПОЧИНАЄ Й НЕ ЗУПИНЯЄТЬСЯ

Фінал завдяки голу Фернандо Торреса лише підкреслив перевагу іспанців над рештою. Вони справді демонстру-

вали найефектніший і прагматичний футбол. Не випадково виграли всі шість матчів. Класність команди визначили шість півзахисників, кожного з яких можна вважати центральним. Ось як охарактеризував команду її тренер Луїс Арагонес. «В нашій команді зібралася група гравців, які вміють тримати м’яч і грати в пас. У нас комбінаційний стиль, хлопців важко зупинити. Протягом турніру ми працювали всі разом – ті, хто грає більше і ті, хто грає трохи менше. Разом ми і досягли такого успіху. Ми виграли турнір у блискучому стилі, і дуже цим задоволені. Тепер можна сказати, що збірна Іспанії готова для ще більших перемог. Сподіваюся, що наші футболісти продовжать у тому ж дусі і виграє ще багато трофеїв». А ось враження від «тотального футболу», мода на який повернулася 5 років тому, голови технічного комітету УЄФА Енді Роксберга: «Це «класика жанру », коли атака починається у власному штрафному майданчику, продовжується гравцями центральної лінії, які допомагають і атаці, де форварди не залишаються без підтримки. Провідні команди Європи прагнуть гранично наситити центр поля, використовуючи для цього підключення захисників і «відтяжку» нападаючих. Діючи на високій швидкості і маючи чисельну перевагу в середині поля, можна думати про атаку». Додамо, що стиль гри іспанців не змінюється. Лише вдосконалюється. Вони встигли виграти чемпіонат світу і їдуть фаворитами на Євро-2012. Але тут на них чекає сюрприз. Інші збірні в останні роки значно додали, тож захистити титул діючим чемпіонам буде вкрай важко.

ЦІКАВІ ФАКТИ Усі збірні, які посіли перші місця в групах, були визначені вже після другого туру.

Вперше плей-офф пройшов без участі господарів. На стадіоні в Базелі через зливу перед матчем Швейцарія – Туреччина довелося міняти газон. Нове покриття обійшлася УЄФА в € 200 000. Француз Ліліан Тюрам провів у фінальних частинах 15 матчів, покращивши показники Зідана, Фігу і Поборськи. Турок Семіх Шентюрк, відзначившись на 122-й хвилині матчу з Хорватією, став автором самого пізнього гола в історії фінальних турнірів. he most recent European Championship has gone down in history as the beginning of a new football era. Michel Platini became UEFA chief in January 2007. The Frenchman replaced Lennart Johansson, who had held this post in the organization for 17 years. It became known some months later that Ukraine and Poland would host the next EURO for the first time. At that time, future hosts of the continental tournament retained excellent chances to acquire experience in the final of the 2008 European Championship. However, if our neighbours have coped with this task, Oleh Blokhin’s trainees have failed the qualifying campaign as the result.

WHIMS OF THE DRAW

Problems began back during drawing. Our team, being the one having joined the best eight teams at the 2006 World Cup, had low ratings due to the poor performance on the continental arena. We got into the third basket of teams, and the ones we had to face from the first two were the world’s best national teams at that time: Italy and France. It is clear that the calendar of the qualifying tournament played an important role in his company, and doing credit to the coaches’ headquarters, Oleh Blokhin did not make concessions to more renowned rivals at the negotiating table. As a result, the draw was conducted by UEFA, and so all the rivals found themselves in approximately similar conditions at the beginning of the tournament. They also started simultaneously. However, the national team of Scotland unex-

pectedly joined the three favourites: it managed to gain a 1:0 victory over the French national team. In its turn, the Ukrainian national team gained a victory over Georgia (3:2), and absolutely in line with forecasts, lost 0:2 to Italians on their soil. One should be reminded of the fact that Andriy Shevchenko could not find himself at Chelsea, and therefore the coach of the “blues”, José Mourinho, even visited Kyiv to see the way the forward is used by Oleh Blokhin. Our captain and his playing partners presented a good match while playing against the Scottish team at the Olympic Stadium by gaining a 2:0 victory. If we also take into account two matches held in March 2007 when the Ukrainians did down the Faroe Islands and Lithuania, the four teams matched each other stride for stride a round before the intermediary finish. We shared the first place with France and Scotland, while Italy was two points behind. Expectations of a happy outcome still remained even after being defeated by France (0:2) because, if the points with favourites are divided, the results demonstrated with outsiders fill finally go to the foreground. But it is precisely here that we encountered bad luck. We played a sluggish game in Tbilisi (1:1) and lost 1:2 to Italians in our own field. Only theoretical chances remained after that match, but everyone stopped counting on them in a month: 1:3 to Scotland. Matches with the Faroe Islands (5:0), Lithuania (0:2) and France did not decide anything anymore. The results were: Italy – 29 points, France – 26, Scotland – 24, Ukraine –

THE SLOGANS OF NATIONAL TEAMS The tradition to paint the buses of participating national teams in the colours of the flags of the countries represented by them was retained at the tournament in Switzerland and Austria. Each of them had its unique slogan. It is interesting that the majority of those from the national team who had been contending to reach the final in Switzerland and Austria five years ago are the contenders for joining the larger list of candidates to this convocation of the national team. The national team was renewed thanks to inclusion of Yarmolenko, Konoplyanka, Rakytsky, Selin, Khacheridi, Harmash and Dević into its ranks: they have replaced Vashchuk, Shelayev, Yezerskyy, Rusol, Nesmachny and Vorobey, respectively.

ONE MATCH: RUSSIA WINS THE PRIZE

The distribution of cities between the host countries of the final was held the same way as in Ukraine and Poland. Austria and Switzerland designated four arenas each, and the final was given to Vienna. The twins, Trix and Flix, were chosen as the mascots. The first of them “played” as No 20, and the other one had worn foot-

ball shirt No 08. The slogan of the tournament was “Give freedom to emotions!” Presentation of the new version of the Henri Delaunay Cup should be regarded as one of the major novelties of the tournament. It was designed by the Asprey London company. Unlike the old one, made by Arthur Bertrand in 1960, there was no place for a marble base and a human figure with a ball in it. The new cup was made of pure silver. Its weight is 8 kg and it is 60 cm tall. Besides Italy, France and the hosts of the tournament, the other contenders who arrived to compete for the new trophy were Germany, Greece, Spain, Holland, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Turkey, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Sweden. As we can see, this whole company, except the Romanians and the Turks, will be also present at EURO 2012. It is interesting that, if we compare the ratings of the national teams now and then, the balance of forces had not changed much either. The favourites are the same.

There was just one surprise at the group stage in 2008: the French national team did not succeed to pass the first stage, having managed to gain just one point in a game against Romania, to get the last position and also to lose to the national teams of Holland and Italy. The Russian national team acted as a troublemaker. It managed to squeeze the maximum from matches with the Germans and the Greeks in the group where Spain was the obvious favourite. The most interesting events began at the playoff. The winners’ destiny was decided during added time or in a series of post-match penalties in three quarter-final matches. The German national team was the only one to avoid unnecessary loss of energy: it settled the situation with the Portuguese quite masterfully. The Russian national team also settled the situation earlier than others: Arshavin who had not taken part in start matches due to suspension was flying like a butterfly. Our neighbour regards this match against the Netherlands as the best one in Russia’s football history. It is notable that the Dutchmen managed to prolong the game to overtime only during the last few minutes: Van Nistelrooy showed his best. But they lacked strength in extra time: 1:3. Let us emphasize that the Russians were trained by Dutch specialist Guus Hiddink. The destiny of the winners in the other quarter-finals was decided in a series of post-match penalties. The Italians with the Spaniards and Croatians with Turks had bad luck. A real drama developed in the latter duel. The Croatians went ahead in the 119th minute, a moment before the final whistle. They might have been already celebrating in their minds, but Şentürk restored the balance in the second minute of four minutes of added time. As regards the duel of 11-metre kicks, Srna was the only Croatian to score, while their rivals scored all attempts. The Turkish national team also demonstrated model diligence playing against Germany in the semi-final. Nine football players at once were unable to take part in the match because of injuries and suspension. In view of these problems, the Germans managed to put the balance in their favour only in the last minute of the game: 3:2. As regards the next to last match of the tournament, the Spaniards smashingly frustrated the Russians: 3:0.

SPAIN STARTS, DOES NOT STOP

Thanks to the goal scored by Fernando Torres, the final only emphasized the

Spaniards advantage over others. They demonstrated the most efficient and pragmatic football, indeed. It is no accident that they won all their six matches. The high class of the team was determined by six midfielders, and each of them could be regarded as a central midfielder. This is the way the team’s Luis Aragonés described it. “A group of players capable of holding the ball and playing passes has come together in our team. We have a combinational style, and it is difficult to stop the guys. We all worked together during the tournament: those playing more and those playing somewhat less. We have achieved this success together. We have won the tournament in brilliant style, and we are very happy with this. It is possible to say now that the Spanish national team is ready for even greater victories. I hope our football players will continue the same way and will win many more trophies.” Here is the impression of the “total football” which came back into fashion five years ago, as voiced by the head of the UEFA Technical Committee, Andy Roxburgh: “this is the ‘classic of the genre’ when an attack begins in a team’s own penalty area, is continued by central-line players helping in attack and where forwards are not left without support. Leading European teams aspire to fill the centre of the field as much as possible, using the involvement of defenders and ‘pulling off’ forwards for this. If the game is played at a high speed and there is a numerical advantage, one can think about attack.” Let us add that the Spaniards style of play does not change. It just improves. They have managed to win the World Cup and are coming to EURO 2012 as favourites. But a surprise is waiting for them here. Other national teams have made great progress in recent years, and it will be extremely difficult for the reigning champions to defend their title.

FIGURE IS EVERYTHING

Based on tournament results, UEFA has divided prize money between the teams. It came to 184 million euros in 2008. The winner got the lion’s share of it: the Spaniards share was 23 million. Germany earned 19 million, and the bronze prize winners, Turkey and Russia, got 14.5 million each. Greece, the previous European Championship winner, got the minimum financial reward of 7.5 million: it was defeated in all tournament matches.

FACTS

All national teams which won first place in groups were determined already after the second round. The playoff was held without the participation of hosts for the first time. It was necessary to change the grass-plat at the Basel stadium before the match between Switzerland and Turkey because of a heavy shower. The cost of the new covering for UEFA was € 200,000.

Lilian Thuram of France took part in 15 matches in finals of the European championship, and in so doing surpassed the results of Zidane, Figo and Poborský. Semih Şentürk from Turkey, having distinguished himself in the 122nd minute of the match against Croatia, has become the author of the latest goal in the history of final tournaments. Jens Lehmann from Germany, aged 38 years and 232 days, was the oldest participant of European Championship finals. Broadcasting was interrupted three times during the semi-final between Germany and Turkey because of a heavy shower. TV viewers were unable to see two goals: Klose (79th minute) and Şentürk (86). Spanish national team midfielder Xavi Hernández scored the 500th goal in European Championships. This happened at the 50th minute of the semi-final match between Russia and Spain. Just as Greece during EURO 2004, Spain did not let in a single goal in the playoff section of the tournament. The ball from the final match was sold at an auction in Austria for 10,000 euros.

Відомий вислів Гарі Лінекера, що у футбол грають дві команди, а виграє завжди Німеччина, нині повертає свою актуальність. Команді Йоахіма Льова всі співають дифірамби, навіть не зважаючи на доволі невеликий вік цієї збірної. Німці зробили ставку на молодь, причому цей процес відбувається не один рік. Серед інших головних претендентів на перемогу в турнірі, безсумнівно, чемпіон світу іспанці, їхні суперники по фіналу на Мундіалі голландці, «технарі» португальці, «зубаті» французи і, звичайно, родоначальники футболу з Англії.

Причому в такому оркестрі не можна фальшивити, адже нерідко долю гри вирішує одна фатальна помилка. «Рівень гравців залежить від багатьох показників, – продовжує Михайло Фоменко. – Індивідуальна

швидкість кожного на позиціях в сумі визначає загальнокомандну швидкість. Рівень мислення розширює тактичний арсенал команди, функціональна готовність дозволяє ефективно діяти протягом усього матчу, а також забезпечує перевагу в певних ігрових моментах, в тому числі за рахунок застосування пресингу». Без пресингу сучасний футбол неможливий. Команда, яка розраховує на перемогу, має не дозволяти супернику довго контролювати м’яч, а, навпаки, змусити його діяти без нього. Яскравий приклад – збірна Іспанії. За втрати м’яча її футболісти негайно вступають у відбір, причому роблять це синхронно й автоматично. Тому, аби мати шанси в матчах проти цієї команди, треба негайно перекривати зони, стежити за пересуванням гравців, не давати простору для комбінування на власній половині поля. В іншому випадку чекай неприємностей. Конкуренти іспанців, про яких йшлося вище, намагаються не відставати. Там підросла низка майстрів високого класу, які нічим не поступаються діючим чемпіонам світу, що, в свою чергу, підніме рівень конкуренції на Євро-2012 на нову висоту. Швеція. Невдача на останньому чемпіонаті світу підштовхнула нового тренера до радикальних змін у складі: з колишньої команди залишився один Рібері. Тренер робить ставку на надійній грі в обороні та зразковій дисципліні. Забивають небагато, в середньому півтора голу на матч, але це не заважає їм вправно перемагати. «Надійна гра в захисті – перший крок до успіху, – впевнений заслужений тренер України. – Невдача на чемпіонаті світу дуже болюче вдарила по самолюбству французів. Ляпас отримала не лише збірна, а всі, хто небайдужий до футболу в країні. Футболістів високого класу в них вистачає, тож вони прагнутимуть реабілітуватися перед прихильниками. Ймовірно, принципи комплектування збірної, де акцент робився на високій дисципліні та різких спалахах гостроатакуючої гри, залишаться незмінними. «Не треба ворожити на кавовій гущині, хто з англійських гравців отримає виклик до національної команди, – підкреслює Михайло Фоменко. – Рівень Прем’єр-ліги такий, що там можна зібрати не одну збірну, і кожна неодмінно ставитиме завдання виграти будь-який турнір. А як вплине зміна тренера на гру команди, незабаром побачимо. На гру англійців не останню роль впливу мають патріотичні почуття. Тож вона в будь-якому випадку має виглядати гідно». Україна. Про нашу команду писано-переписано стільки, що вона, навіть якщо не захоче, буде змушена битися в кожному матчі. До фаворитів її мало хто відносить, але є дуже важливий аспект. Ми граємо на своєму полі. А фактор «тринадцятого гравця» у вирішальних моментах може творити дива. Gary Lineker’s famous saying that there are two teams playing football, but Germany always wins, is becoming topical again. Everyone is singing the praises of Joachim Löw’s team, despite the quite low average age of this national team. The Germans have staked on youth, and meanwhile, this process has been under way for more than one year. Of course, the main contenders for victory in the tournament are, among others, the world champions from Spain, the Dutchmen who were their rivals in the Mundial final, the technical Portuguese, sharp-toothed Frenchmen and, of course, the founders of football from England.

onorary Coach of Ukraine Mykhaylo Fomenko says: “Of course, I share this commonly accepted opinion, as the teams you have listed showed the best results in recent years. In its turn, the result is achieved by people and, in my opinion, the Germans and Spaniards have made a very good selection of players. But I would not make emphasis on individual figures: regardless of the names of the football players playing for the clubs like Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona or Real, playing in these national teams is based on team play, on the feeling of partisanship and on each other’s mutual support.” Nevertheless, modern football is impossible without individuals, but their role in the field differs slightly from the one played by “stars” some decades ago. They meet in clubs more often. Messi or Ronaldo are to a certain extent irreplaceable in Barcelona and Real, respectively, but their playing in the national team does not shine with such bright colours as it does in the Champions League or Premier League. There are enough masters of this kind in each position in the national teams trying to fight for the top places. If the climate within the team is normal, but not like the one the French national team had during the previous World Cup, when one of the leading teams was unable to qualify from their group because of quarrels, a unit capable of fighting is formed in well-polished team actions. Meanwhile, one may not play out of tune in such an orchestra, as the outcome of the game is often determined by one fatal mistake. Mykhaylo Fomenko continues: “The level of players depends on many factors. Each one’s individual speed in positions in unison determines the overall

speed of the team. The level of thinking expands the team’s tactical arsenal, and functional preparedness enables it to act efficiently during the entire match, along with ensuring advantage during certain moments of the game, and among other factors, due to the use of pressing.” Modern football is impossible without pressing. The team looking forward to gaining a victory may not enable its rival to control the ball for a long time: on the contrary, it must force it to act without it. The Spanish national team is a demonstrative example. If its football players lose the ball, they immediately start trying to take it away, and meanwhile, they do it simultaneously and automatically. Therefore, in order to have any chance in matches against this team, zones should be immediately blocked, players’ movements should be tracked and no space for combinations in their own half of the field should be given. Otherwise, trouble can be expected. The aforementioned Spaniards’ rivals try not to lag behind. A number of high-class masters have grown up there, they are not inferior to the current world champions, and in its turn, this will increase the level of competition at EURO 2012 to a new height. Sweden. The Scandinavian national team is not among the favourites, though this fact is likely to be merely of use for it. The team is primarily associated with the leader of Milano attacks, Zlatan Ibrahimović. Meanwhile, his role in the national team is not of such importance as it is for his club. The EURO 2012 qualifying campaign may serve as an example of this. The forward scored only against two teams during the campaign: San Marino and Finland. This team is unique for scoring goals actually by

everyone: 31 goals in qualifying games were scored by 16 (!) football players. Mykhaylo Fomenko says; “This team may not be underestimated by any means. Look at its make up: there are just one or two players in it who play in the Swedish championship. The rest are at clubs of leading European leagues. We met with them several times during the recent period and did not have any special advantage. Undoubtedly, Ibrahimović’s role in the team is great, but it is strong, first of all, due to its team actions. Everyone is able to score there.” France. Laurent Blanc’s team is gradually renewing its former fame. Failure at the most recent World Cup prodded the new coach into making radical changes to the composition: Ribéry is the only one left from the former team. The coach is staking on secure playing in defence and on model discipline. They do not score many goals (the average is 1.5 per match), but this does not prevent them from winning efficiently. The Honorary Coach of Ukraine continues: “Secure play in defence is the first step towards success. Failure at the World Cup was a very painfully blow to the selfesteem of the French. Not only the national team, but everyone not indifferent to football in the country, was insulted. They have enough high-class players, and so they will try to rehabilitate themselves before their fans. This is a nice psychological aspect. It may be useful for them.” England. Only God knows what kind of team will be brought to Ukraine by the new chief coach of the founders of football, Roy Hodgson. Under Capello’s supervision, the English team was named among the EURO 2012 favourites, as they did not lose a single official match in the last few years. The principles of assembling the national team, where emphasis used to be put on high discipline with abrupt outbursts of play in tough attacks remain unchanged. Mykhaylo Fomenko emphasizes: “It is not worth reading tea leaves as to which English players who will be invited to play for the national team. The level of the Premier League makes possible selecting more than one national team there, and each one will set the task of winning any tournament by every means. We shall soon see the way the change of coach will influence the way in which the team plays. Patriotic feelings play not the least role in the English team’s play. Therefore, in any case it will have to look decent.”

Ukraine. So much has been written about our team that it will be forced to fight in each match even if it does not wish this. There are not many people who rank our team among the favourites, but there is a very important aspect. We are playing at home. The factor of the “13th player” may perform miracles at decisive moments. There are problems in defence because of injured Chyhrynskyy and Mykhalyk, the one with goalkeepers was added when three major goalkeepers “dashed out” at once, but there is immense desire among players and fans. They have enough skill, and the most recent games against Germany and Austria serve as a proof of this. Mykhaylo Fomenko sums up: “I am not inclined to dramatize the situation. As people joke, Chances always exist, even when we do not have them. The preparatory period will play an important role. The season is coming to an end, players need to have a rest and to move away from domestic competitions. Playing in the national team will not depend on one, two or three players. There should be a team, but not a batch of football players. It should be able to assemble at the necessary moment. There should be players capable of exerting themselves on the field not by 100%, but by 120%.” A great future after EURO 2012 is predicted for some of our chaps. In order to make it happen, they should be able to reveal their capacities to the extent that will depend on them. Moreover, fans will be pushing them forward. The coaching headquarters will take care of the remaining things: rights distribution of efforts and motivation, including financial incentives and tactical structure. Проте, на відміну від колег по амплуа з Португалії, Голландії та Німеччини, форвард «Манчестер Юнайтед» Уейн Руні перші матчі на Євро-2012 пропустить. УЄФА вирішив, що вилучення в останній грі відбору проти збірної Чорногорії не заслуговує трьох ігор дискваліфікації, і замінив покарання двома матчами. Попереду залишився лише легендарний Боббі Чарльтон з 249 голами. Враховуючи скорострільність і вік нашого героя, нова вершина йому може підкоритися вже наступного року. Примітно, що гол Руні у ворота «Манчестер Сіті» – через себе «ножицями» – став найкращим за виконанням минулого року за версією ФІФА. Сама по собі подія, звичайно, помітна, але не така вже й особлива, адже подібні голи влітають у сітки воротарів досить регулярно, а значимість такого удару здебільшого вимірюється фігурою гравця та рівнем суперника. В нашому випадку все збіглося, хоча й не випадково: цей удар дав свого часу Руні путівку у великий футбол. Уейну пощастило з батьками. Весь вільний час (а через нелюбов до школи у нього його було більше, ніж в інших) він проводив на футбольному майданчику. У семирічному віці грав за команду пивної «Вестерн», наступного року в іграх за школу «наколотив» суперникам 72 голи, а перший зірковий час прийшов у

дев’ятирічному віці. Проблеми з грішми в родині почали вирішуватися разом із зростанням Шрека. А 1 жовтня Уейн забив «Рексему» в Кубку Ліги, «випередивши» на 153 дні іншого вундеркінда Томмі Лоутона, який також відзначився в 16-річному віці, проте на 65 років раніше. Звісно, за підсумками сезону Уейн став найкращим молодим гравцем Великобританії, а боси «Евертона» заявили, що в контракті сума відступних за форварда прописана в розмірі 50 мільйонів фунтів. Самому футболісту запропонували 50 тисяч, але… він відмовився. І не прогадав. «Евертон» до останнього торгувався з «Манчестер Юнайтед», лякаючи можливістю передати права на футболіста «Ньюкаслу». Угода врешті була підписана за кілька годин до завершення трансферного вікна: манкуніанці вмовили «продавців» додатковими сімома мільйонами. З тих пір, до речі, пройшло 8 років, інфляція з’їла гроші процентів на тридцять, а 27-мільйонний трансфер Руні до сих пір є найдорожчим для гравців, котрим не виповнилося 20 років.

Поганий і незамінний

Якби британці знайшли ще кількох подібних вундеркіндів, то, напевно, національна команда давно б щось путнє виграла на міжнародній арені. Але такі хлопці народжуються нечасто, тож Руні, дебютувавши за дорослу збірну в 17-річному віці 2003-го, досі не знає конкурентів. Навіть попри те, що форвард постійно є фігурантом скандалів. То потрапить на перші сторінки таблоїдів поруч з дівчиною легковажної поведінки, то режим порушить і буде покараний тренером «МЮ» Алексом Фергюсоном, то в пориві емоцій наговорить поганих слів у телекамеру, а то взагалі пригне двома ногами ззаду в ноги супернику. Для будь-кого подібне ставлення до роботи й життя напевно вийшло би боком, а Шреку все сходить з рук, навіть Англійська футбольна асоціація наступає на власну гордість і принижується перед УЄФА, вибиваючи скорочення дискваліфікації. Бо його вже не перевиховати. «Це марна трата часу, – робить висновки легендарний капітан англійців Пол Гаскойн. – З ним ніхто не може

впоратися, ні в клубі, ні в збірній. Скільки не виховуй, а він все одно знайде спосіб заробити червону картку. Я такий самий був. В моєму випадку тренери навіть до психіатрів бігали, де їм дали просту пораду – змиритися». Втім, наставники не завжди пам’ятають про рекомендації лікарів душ. На початку сезону дав слабину Фергюсон, відправивши Шрека через черговий загул у дубль. Руні навіть заявив, що змінить команду. Конфлікт, між тим, вдалося подолати, і тепер Уейн проводить найкращий сезон у кар’єрі. Можливо, через переоцінку цінностей.

Нові горизонти

«Спочатку моя гра ґрунтувалася на емоціях, – згадує Руні. – Мені просто хотілося боротися за кожен м’яч, гнатися за ним, і вже після години гри я був повністю виснажений. Тепер розумію, що так не можна: потрібно берегти сили для того, щоб використати свій шанс, коли отримуєш м’яч в штрафній. Трапляються ситуації, коли маєш діяти інстинктивно. Це приголомшливо! Коли таке відбувається, я навіть не усвідомлюю, що буду робити далі, тому й захисники не знають, чого очікувати! З роками я стаю іншим. Менше б’ю з далекої відстані, менше дію на межі офсайду. Прагну будь-що проскочити до штрафного майданчика. Пристрасті в мене не поменшало, але тепер розумію, що найкращі гравці відрізняються не частотою ударів, а їх доречністю. Такі воліють зробити вбивчий пас, а не пробити. Про мене пишуть як про гравця, який вміє на полі все. Це не так. Я досі наполегливо працюю над лівою ногою, для себе відзначив, що через тренування краще став грати головою. Завдяки Алексу Фергюсону можу діяти в різних варіаціях складу – як з партнером в атаці, так і самотужки. І, головне, важливо постійно думати. Якщо захисник не зайняв найліпшу позицію, то її маю зайняти я. Бо все вирішують частки секунди, і якщо ти їх виграєш, виграє твоя команда». Футбол дав Руні ім’я, фінансову незалежність і дружину-топ-модель – Колін Маклафлін. Вони виховують сина, мешкають за містом у старовинному замку. Нещодавно в Уейна з’явилася нова пристрасть. There is probably just one star in the English national team today whose name can be placed beside Cristiano Ronaldo, Robin van Persie and Mario Gómez. But unlike his colleagues having the same specialization from Portugal, Holland and Germany, Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney will miss the first EURO 2012 matches. UEFA has decided that the misconduct penalty during the most recent qualifying game against the national team of Montenegro does not deserve disqualification for three matches and has changed the punishment to two matches. Therefore, the genius forward of will be able to come to the field namely against the Ukrainian national team. We take courage to forecast that the last meeting in championship’s group stage in Donbas Arena on 19 June will be decisive for both teams.

BRAND SCISSORS KICK

The English national team, the same way as EURO 2012 in general, would have lost much without Rooney. If we do not mention the forward’s brutality, there are only positive features in his manner of play. The manner of the 26-year-old forward’s play this season has been just brilliant. Shrek, as Rooney is nicknamed for his resemblance to the cartoon hero, scored his 35th goal in the season against former club Everton, and this enabled his scoring record for the Mancunians to reach 180 goals and to surpass the achievement of George Best by one precise kick. Only legendary Bobby Charlton with 249 goals is still ahead. Taking into account our hero’s kicking rate and age, he may conquer a new summit as early as next year. It is notable that Rooney’s overhead goal with scissors kick became the best one in terms of performance last year according to UEFA. Of course, the event itself is notable, but it is not very special, as goals of this kind reach goalkeepers’ nets quite regularly, and the importance of such a shot is mainly measured by a player’s figure and level of the rival. Everything coincided in our case, though it was no accident. This shot once gave Rooney a pass to big time football. Wayne had luck with his parents. He spent all his free time in a football field because, due to his dislike for school, he had more of it than others. At the age of seven he played for the team of the Western pub, then he scored 72 goals while playing for his school next year, and his 74

first hour of triumph came to him at the age of nine. Shrek scored 99 goals for Copplehouse Boys during a season in Walton league, and then he was invited to the children’s Everton team. The coach of the Manchester United youth team, Paul McGuinness, recalls: “Once we played against children from Liverpool. We were completely smashed, and young Rooney scored one goal out of six with an overhead kick. The performance was actually perfect. I told him about this at the Manchester academy, and we attentively monitored him since that time.” There was something to be seen. Wayne scored 70 goals per season in the children’s league, and aged 14, he even featured in the starting lineup for those aged 19 at the English Cup. It was no accident that he soon received an invitation from England’s national team (U-16) for which Rooney scored five goals during five matches of the European tournament.

WUNDERKIND HUNTING

Let us note that Rooney concluded his first contract at the age of 10. Taking into account the fact that his father worked as an ordinary worker, while his mother, in addition to bringing up three boys (Wayne has got younger brothers Graham and John), managed to cook at a canteen, financial aid to the family was appropriate. Family’s financial problems began being resolved simultaneously with Shrek’s growth. The majority of English Premier League clubs cast their eye on the young

forward, but when Liverpool and Manchester United came to the foreground, Everton’s management was forced to review the football player’s contract several times. That was in view of the fact that age limits did not allow him to play for the grown-up team, though he had been already training with the first team. The pace of Rooney’s progress was just incredible. He scored two hat tricks during the preparatory training camp for the 2002-03 season and went out to play for the first Everton team against Tottenham in the very first game of the championship. On 1 October Wayne scored a goal against Wrexham in the league cup, having surpassed another wunderkind, Tommy Lawton, by 153 days: the latter also distinguished himself at the age of 16, but 65 years earlier. Of course, according to the season’s results, Wayne became the best young football player in the UK, and Everton bosses announced that the transfer fee stipulated in the contract was 50 million pounds. The football player himself was offered 50,000, but… he refused. However, he did not miscalculate. Everton bargained with Manchester United till the last moment, intimidating it with the possibility to transfer the rights to the football player to Newcastle. The contract was finally signed several hours before the end of the transfer deadline: the Mancunians persuaded the sellers with an additional seven million. If the British could find some more wunderkinds of this kind, the national team would have won something decent on the international arena a long time ago. But boys of this kind are born not very often, and therefore Rooney, having made his debut in the grown-up team at the age of 17, has no competitors yet. This is so despite the fact that the forward is the person permanently involved in scandals. Sometimes he appears on the front pages of tabloids beside a hussy, sometimes he violates the regime and is punished by Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson, sometimes he says bad words to a TV camera in an outburst of emotions, and sometimes he even jumps into a rival’s feet with both feet from behind. If anyone had such attitude to work, his life would have likely gone wrong, but Shrek gets off easily, and even the English Football Association tempers its pride and stoops to request UEFA to make his suspension shorter. The reason is that he cannot be reformed any longer. The legendary captain of the English team Paul Gascoigne sums up: “This is a waste of time. No-one is able to cope with him anymore, both at club and in the national team. Despite all reforms, he will find the way to get a red card by all means. I was the same. In my case, coaches even addressed psychiatrists, but were given a simple recommendation: resign yourselves.” However, coaches do not always remember the recommendations of soul doctors. Ferguson went soft at the beginning of the season, having sent Shrek to the reserve squad after new revelry. Rooney even said that he would change the team. Many Ukrainians associate May with the Eurovision Song Contest. Singer Gaitana will represent our country there this year. Besides other things, she is well-known for her love of football: just recall her song “Shakhtar Champion”. Its video clip was recorded on the field of Donbas Arena. Therefore, it is not surprising that Gaitana has the official title of Friend of Euro. After the contest in Baku, a no less responsible mission awaits for her: she will take part in the cultural programme of the European Football Championship.

ou are one of not so numerous women whose foot has stepped on the field of the Donbas Arena… Moreover, I was the first one who happened to go out to this wonderful arena wearing heels. I remember that all football players smiled looking at me when they saw me cautiously stepping on the grass. Indeed, I tried to walk tiptoe all the time in order not to damage the grass surface. Do you agree with the widely spread opinion that Donbas Arena is the most beautiful stadium built for the Euro? As regards me personally, I have never seen a better stadium. Donbas Arena seems to be an extraterrestrial spaceship where everything works ideally. Probably, each child who comes here begins dreaming about becoming a great sportsman in the future. The design of the building, its interior and range of colours inspire something positive. I am convinced that the fans who will come to Euro will adore the Donetsk stadium. The Ukrainian national team will play against England and France at the Donbas Arena. Do you plan to attend these matches? The title of Friend of Euro enables me to attend any match. I am willing to see eve-

rything, as people say, live from the stadium stand. But artists have the kind of work when they often have to adjust their plans. But I shall definitely be involved in the EURO 2012 cultural programme. It will be a pleasure for me to sing my best songs to football players and fans. What are your relations with football in general? Did you like this game in childhood? I was a very restless child, and so I happily played different outdoor games: cops and robbers, playing tag and others. I also liked football and kicked a ball around together with both boys and girls. But we did not often watch matches on TV: I preferred to play myself than to be a fan… Now I like to watch football together with my husband. As he is a true fan, his emotions are transferred to me while watching. What, in your opinion, will Ukraine get (or lose) due to hosting the European Football Championship? I am accustomed to look for positive aspects in everything. In my opinion, EURO 2012 will bring world popularity to our country; it will give additional self-confidence to ordinary Ukrainians. Thanks to Euro, our people became more

interested not only in football, but in sports in general. This is wonderful. By the way, I recently wrote some 10 songs of my own dedicated to the topic of sports. You will face a test at the Eurovision Song Contest before the beginning of the football championship. Do you think these two events have anything in common? First of all, they have European scale in common. Second, each participant in both of them is aiming for victory and is ready to fight for it: in one case, it is with the help of music, while in the other one it is through football means. Another thing in common is the fact that the support of spectators is of great importance for singers, the same way as for sportsmen. By the way, as regards spectators: do you think singer Gaitana’s fans differ from football fans? Of course, football fans are much more energetic and aggressive. Let us say, my fans have got more gentle organization of their souls. In general, I treat football fans with understanding and respect their devotion to their favourite team. I know that you are a Candidate Master of Sports in table tennis. Probably,

we can say that this type of sport, the same way as football, can be named the game of millions… Indeed, many people in the whole world play ping-pong. The majority of them are amateurs playing for pleasure. But there are also professionals. Believe me, professional table tennis players train no less than football players. Success in any business is preceded by considerable work. One should always remember this. How often do you play ping-pong now? I have never stopped playing tennis. I play quite often: almost always when I have free time. In general, a lot of my pleasant recollections are related to table tennis… I also regularly visit the gym and go swimming. If the weather is fine, I ride a bicycle with pleasure.

Львів вже сам по собі можна назвати музеєм під відкритим небом – недарма історичний центр міста занесений до списку Світової спадщини ЮНЕСКО. Проте і власне музеїв у місті Лева дуже багато. Серед них є й унікальні: наприклад, музей-аптека «Під чорним орлом» (облаштований в аптеці, заснованій ще 1735-го року) чи, скажімо, єдиний в Україні Музей пошти. Гостей Євро напевно зацікавлять Музей пива та Львівський «Арсенал» (музей зброї). Та найзнаменитішим музейним закладом, беззаперечно, є Львівська національна галерея мистецтв, фонди якої налічують понад 62 тисячі творів світового й національного мистецтва від античних часів до наших днів.

Війни й революції минають, а мистецтво – вічне

Сьогодні Львівська галерея – це найбільший художній музей України. Історія її заснування чимось схожа на пригодницький роман. Ідея створити у Львові музей західноєвропейського мистецтва зародилася наприкінці XIX cт. Для цього за ініціативи міської інтелігенції було розпочато збір коштів. В 1902 році відповідна стаття витрат з’явилася в міському бюджеті. Варто зазначити, що на початку минулого століття в місті склалася надзвичайно сприятлива ситуація для колекціонерів, у зв’язку з буремними

подіями першої російської революції 1905–1907 рр. через Львів, що на той час входив до складу Австро-Угорської імперії, контрабандною рікою «пливли» тисячі мистецьких творів. Частина з них осідала в колекціях місцевих збирачів, антикварних лавках, а також в кімнатах міського архіву. В 1906 році магістрат виділив 225 тисяч крон (величезну на ті часи суму!) для придбання колекції цукрового магната з Поділля Івана Яковича. Як стверджує легенда, зібрання, що нараховувало декілька сотень художніх творів, було доставлено з села Ситківців (тепер це селище на Вінниччині) до Львова... контрабандою. І майже одразу розгорівся гучний скандал: більшість картин виявилися копіями. Але історично так склалося, що Днем народження галереї вважають 14 лютого 1907 року, коли колекція Яковича прибула до Львова. Хоча справжню цінність Львівської галереї становлять зовсім інші твори. Значну частину фонду місту подарували колекціонери. Так, в 1914 році абсолютно безкоштовно передав свою багатющу колекцію Болеслав Ожехович: інакше зібрання могли розкрасти солдати російської армії, що оселилися в його маєтку поблизу Львова. Подарунок Михайла Тепфера став основою колекції автопортретів львівських художників... Після приєднання в 1939 році Західної України до СРСР музей поповнився творами, котрі були експропрійовані у заможного населення. З іншого боку, близько 150 картин були втрачені під час війни. Більшість вивезених німцями творів повернути не вдалося.

Перлини колекції

Сьогодні Львівська галерея мистецтв включає 16 підрозділів. В головному корпусі (вул. Стефаника, 3) діє експозиція «Європейське мистецтво ХІХ–ХХІ ст.». Найбільшу цінність в ній мають твори Франсуа Жерара, Яна Матейка, Яцека Мальчевського, Артура Гротгера, Михайла Бойчука, Петра Холодного. Досить широко представлено російський живопис: демонструються картини Рєпіна, Крамського, Левітана, Пєрова, Куїнджі, Шишкіна, Врубеля та ін. 84

Музей найдавніших пам’яток Львова (вул. Ужгородська, 1)

Відділ «Європейське мистецтво XVI–XVIII ст.» розташований в палаці Потоцьких (вул. Коперника, 15). Весь перший поверх присвячено інтер’єрам: ліпнина, люстри, каміни, декоративні решітки, салонні дзеркала тощо. На другому поверсі – твори італійських, французьких, австрійських, голландських, польських художників та митців інших країн. Особливу гордість колекції становлять картини: «Ловля коралів і перлів» Якопо Цуккі, «Портрет молодої патриціанки» Софонісби Ангішоли, «Чоловічий портрет» Рубенса, «Три святі» невідомого художника ХV ст., «Відвідини Марії Єлизаветою» Яна Ван Скореля. Беззаперечним шедевром світового значення вважається картина Жоржа де ла Тура «У лихваря» (інша назва – «Платіж»). Окремим підрозділом галереї є Музей львівської барокової скульптури. Він розташований в старо-

винній споруді (побудована 1607 р.) за адресою вул. Митна, 2. В інтер’єрі цього будинку збереглися фрески на релігійні сюжети роботи Станіслава Строїнського (1719–1802 рр.). Основу колекції становлять твори Йоганна (Івана) Пінзеля – видатного скульптора ХVIII ст., якого ще називають «українським Мікеланджело». Значний інтерес також викликають збірки львівського портрета XVI– XVIII ст., колекції ікон, творів декоративно-вжиткового мистецтва, зокрема порцеляни, гобеленів, меблів. За художньою цінністю Львівська картинна галерея займала третє місце в Радянському Союзі після Ермітажу і музею імені Пушкіна в Москві. Унікальною є тамтешня колекція австрійського живопису. А за повнотою представлення польського живопису зі Львовом може сперечатися тільки Варшава.

Діє на території костелу Івана (Іоанна) Хрестителя, що є одним з найстаріших храмів Львова. На думку дослідників, храм було зведено у 1260 році (за іншими джерелами – в 1270-му) князем Левом для дружини Констанції – доньки угорського короля Бели IV. Разом з тим існує версія, що ця споруда збудована ще на початку XІІІ ст. батьком Данила Галицького на честь покровителя свого сина – святого Івана Хрестителя. Споруда неодноразово перебудовувалася, в результаті чого практично повністю втратила стародавні риси... 1993-го року в приміщенні і на подвір’ї костелу організували Музей найдавніших пам’яток Львова. Експозиція музею постійно оновлюється, але незмінним експонатом є макет, що відтворює первісний вигляд храму.

It can be said that Lviv itself is an open-sky museum: it is not for nothing that the historical centre of the city has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Meanwhile, there are also quite many museums as such in the City of Lion. There are unique ones among them: for example the Under Black Eagle pharmacy-museum (organized in the pharmacy established back in 1735) or, let us say, Ukraine’s only Postal Museum. Guests of Euro are likely to be interested in the Beer Museum and the Lviv Arsenal (armaments museum). But the Lviv National Art Gallery is undoubtedly the most famous museum institution: it has got over 62,000 works of world and national art, from antique times to present days, in its funds.

Wars and revolutions pass by, but art is eternal

The Lviv Gallery is Ukraine’s largest art museum today. The history of its foundation resembles, to some extent, an adventure novel. In general, the idea of establishing a Western European art museum in Lviv arose in the late 19th century. Initiated by the city’s intellectuals, the raising of funds began for this purpose. The respective item of expenditure appeared in the city budget in 1902. It should be noted that the situation formed in the city at the beginning of the previous century was very favourable for collectors: due to turbulent events of the 1905-07 first Russian revolution, thousands of contraband works of art “floated” as a stream through Lviv, which then belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Some of them settled in the collections of local collectors and antique shops, just as in city archive offices.

Ancient Ukrainian Book Art Museum (15a Kopernika St.) The exposition reflects the history of the first Ukrainian print shops and presents manuscripts and first printed books of the 15th-18th centuries. The unique map of Galicia, Lodomeria and Bukovyna is one of the most interesting exhibits. According to historians, work on the map was carried out over the course of 20 years: from 1772 till 1792.

The municipality allocated 225,000 krones in 1906 (an immense sum at the time!) for purchasing a collection from Podolian sugar magnate Ivan Yakovych. According to legend, the collection, which consisted of several hundred works of art was delivered from the village of Sytkivtsi (now township in Vinnytsya Region) to Lviv… as contraband. A great scandal flared up almost immediately: the majority of pictures turned out to be copies. But due to historical circumstances, 14 February 1907, when Yakovych’s collection reached Lviv, is considered to be the gallery’s birthday. However, completely different works are the real asset of Lviv Gallery. Most of the fund has been presented to the city by collectors. For example, Bolesław Orzechowicz donated his abundant collection absolutely free of charge in 1914: otherwise, the collection could have been stolen by the soldiers of the Russian Army who settled in his estate not far from Lviv. Mykhaylo Tepfer’s donation became the basis of the collection of Lviv painters’ self-portraits. When Western Ukraine was incorporated by the USSR in 1939, the works confiscated from wealthy people were handed over to the museum. On the other hand, around 150 pictures disappeared during the war. It was impossible to return the majority of the works taken away by the Germans.

Gems of the collection

The Lviv Art Gallery currently consists of 16 divisions in total. The exposition “European art of the 19th-21st centuries” operates in the main building (3 Stefanyka St.). Its works of greatUKRAINE 2012 87

est value are those by François Gérard, Jan Matejko, Jacek Malczewski, Artur Grottger, Mykhalylo Boychuk and Petro Kholodnyy. Russian painting is also represented quite abundantly: there are pictures by Repin, Kramskoy, Levitan, Perov, Kuindzhi, Shishkin, Wróbel and others in the exposition. The section “European art of the 16th-18th centuries” is located in the Potocki Palace (15 Kopernika St.). The first floor is fully dedicated to interiors: stucco, chandeliers, fireplaces, decorative lattices, parlour mirrors, etc. Works of Italian, French, Austrian, Dutch and Polish painters and artists from other countries are presented on the second floor. The pictures of special pride in 88

the collection are: Fishing for Corals and Pearls by Jacopo Zucchi, Portrait of a Young Patrician Woman by Sofonisba Anguissola, Portrait of a Man by Rubens, Three Saints by an unknown 15th-century painter and Mary Visiting Elisabeth by Jan Van Scorel. The picture Money-Lender (other name Paid Money) by Georges de la Tour is considered to be a masterpiece of world significance. The Lviv Baroque Sculpture Museum is a detached division of the museum. It is located in an old building (1607) on 2 Mytna St. Frescos on religious themes painted by Stanisław Stroinski (1719-1802) remained intact in the interior of this building. The basis of the collection is composed of the works

of Johann (Ivan) Pinsel, a prominent sculptor of the 18th century who is also named the “Ukrainian Michelangelo”. Lviv portrait collections of the 16th18th centuries, collections of icons, works of decorative and applied arts and, in particular, porcelain, tapestry and furniture, are also of great interest. In general terms, the Lviv Picture gallery previously held the third position in the Soviet Union after the Hermitage and the Pushkin Museum in Moscow in terms of the artistic value of its exposition.
