Дорогі читачі!

Минає ще один ключовий рік підготовки до Євро-2012. Зважаючи на кількість об’єктів, які збудовані і запущені у 2011-му, на «Браво!» від УЄФА, у рік Євро Україна вступає в гарному настрої. Країна справді демонструє високі темпи підготовки. А до «урожаю» 2011-го можна зарахувати і відкриті, по-футбольному «обкатані» дві арени у Києві та Львові, і термінали трьох приймаючих міст, які от-от здадуть в експлуатацію. Стадіони і термінали – головні об’єкти, здача яких дозволить українцям зосередитись на організаційних питання до Євро-2012. Що залишилось на 2012-й? Менш ніж за півроку необхідно запустити швидкісні потяги, «підтягнути» дороги і вишколити персонал – тисячі людей, які обслуговуватимуть майбутні об’єкти і на Євро, і після чемпіонату. Чимало завдань постає перед містами-господарями, що після фінального жеребкування дізнались, які команди прийматимуть їх стадіони. І не менш важливий аспект – суто футбольний. Dear readers,

Another key year of preparations for EURO 2012 is passing. Given the number of facilities that were built and launched in 2011, with “bravo!” coming from UEFA, Ukraine enters the year of EURO in a good mood. The country really is showing high speed of preparations. And into the “harvest” of 2011 you can include both stadiums in Kyiv and Lviv, which were opened and “tested” by football, and air terminals of the three host cities, which are about to be put into operation. Stadiums and air terminals are the main facilities, the commissioning of which will enable Ukrainians to focus on organisational issues of EURO 2012. And what is left for 2012? In less than six months we need to launch high-speed trains, raise the level of the roads and train staff – thousands of people who will service the future facilities both during the EURO and after the Championship. Many tasks are ahead of the host cities, which now know which teams will be welcomed by their stadiums after the finals draw was made. And there is no less an important issue – a purely footballing one. Against who our team play will play and what it can count on – read about this in the new issue of the magazine. Переможниця Євробачення-2004 під час першого матчу на «Арені Львів» презентувала гімн українських фанатів.

A lot of Ukrainian sportsmen, Olympic champions, cultural figures (celebrities) and musician supported EUROÂ 2012. Among the latter are Friends of EURO Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, Jamala, Gaitana, Ruslana and others. The Eurovision 2004 winner presented the song of Ukrainian fans during the first match at the Arena Lviv.

Збірній України, щоб вийти з групового турніру чемпіонату Європи, необхідно випередити одну з двох топ-команд, які свого часу були найсильнішими в світі. Подібним підбором команд можуть похвалитися учасники Євро з групи С, де також зіграють два чемпіони світу, і, звичайно, В. Там зібралися три чемпіони Європи різних часів та один фіналіст. З огляду на титули, сором’язливо «курить на веранді» квартет групи А, хоча й там зіграють хоч і посередні, але приблизно рівні за класом команди.

Нервове очікування Зовні Палац мистецтв «Україна» зовсім не нагадував місце, де вирішувалася доля головного футбольного турніру наступного року. Буденне життя столиці «розбавила» хіба що встановлена біля центрального входу льодова скульптура Кубка Анрі Делоне. Зате всередині безперервний рух нагадував вулик. Журналісти намагалися встигнути запам’ятати місцезнаходження зон, де після церемонії жеребкування тренерам влаштують спочатку фотосесії, а згодом підведуть до голодних до коментарів представників ЗМІ. Рівно о сьомій екран знайшов у залі президента УЄФА Мішеля Платіні, і майже одночасно ансамбль Вірського продемонстрував світові гопак. Вийшло просто блискуче: на невеликій сцені розподілені на три групи півсотні артистів презентували національний танець з елементами бойового мистецтва. За ними з’явилися й ведучі – українка Ольга Фреймут та поляк Петро Собчинський. Вітальне слово виголосив Президент Віктор Янукович, який завершив промову мовою родоначальників футболу. Найцікавіше розпочалося після відеопрезентації стадіонів і культурної спадщини міст, що приймають Євро2012. На сцену піднялися 13 легенд світового футболу на чолі з автором вирішального м’яча у першому розіграші 1960 року – Віктором Понедєльніком. «Я дуже радий, що великий футбол прийде в Україну», – повторив легендарний форвард слова, сказані в інтерв’ю нашому журналу кілька місяців тому. Наступними за ростовчанином на сцену піднялися переможці чемпіонатів Європи різних часів: Луїс Суа-

рес (Іспанія), Джанні Рівера (Італія), Пауль Брайтнер (Німеччина), Антонін Паненка (Чехословаччина), Хорст Хрубеш (Німеччина), Ален Жирес (Франція), Марко ван Бастен (Голландія), Петер Шмайхель (Данія), Олівер Бірхофф (Німеччина), Зінедін Зідан (Франція), Антоніос Нікополідіс (Греція) та Хоан Капдевілья (Іспанія). Офіційний м’яч і пісня М’яч презентував легендарний український легкоатлет Сергій Бубка. На Євро гратимуть «Танго-12». Він – наступник м’ячів «Танго Рівер Плейт», «Танго Мундіаль», «Танго Європа», якими грали на чемпіонатах світу та Європи з 1978 року. Про приналежність до нинішнього Євро, за думкою виробників, нагадують елементи кольору прапорів та декоративні візерунки, які історично використовувалися для обрамлення в сільських районах України та Польщі. Робили м’яч два роки. Обіцяють, що він стане найкращим в історії футболу. Футболісти ж його властивість уже змогли оцінити: після жеребкування кожна збірна отримала по 30 екземплярів для випробування. Офіційну пісню Євро-2012 співатиме німецько-американська попзірка Осеана. Її хіт Cry Cry, нагадаємо, лідирував в хіт-парадах європейських країн 2009 року. Співає Осеана в стилі фанк і соул, поп і джаз, тобто об’єднує, на перший погляд, несумісне – музику європейців та афроамериканців. Її новий хіт вийде напередодні Євро-2012. Гадаю, з жеребом нам трохи пощастило, залишилося це довести на практиці. Буде важко, адже на ненайсильнішого суперника складно налаштовуватися. Я вірю у своїх гравців, ми на Євро будемо в усеозброєнні».

Потім вирішували долю команд з четвертого кошику, паралельно розставляючи їх за порядковими номерами. Нам «підсобив» Зідан, відправивши в нашу групу найсильнішу збірну з аутсайдерів – Францію. Потім легендарний француз визначив нам суперників у першому матчі – шведів. Ван Бастен же, у своєму стилі, співвітчизникам відрядив Португалію… І ось, нарешті, другий кошик, з якого лише згадування про Німеччину кидало в піт. Україні пощастило: нам дісталася Англія. А хвилиною раніше усе той же Марко ван Бастен довершив агресивну картину учасників групи В. Саме туди відправилася команда Йоахіма Льова. Росію ж, традиційно, очікувала легка доля: вони потрапили до розбавлених греками слов’ян з групи А. Уся церемонія тривала 54 хвилини. Отже, жереб кинуто, тепер можна 12

Все одно наше завдання – вийти з групи, не зважаючи, з якими суперниками треба грати. Позитивом вважаю те, що гратимемо в одному місці – на стадіоні Вроцлава. Це місто максимально близько розташовано від Чехії». Ми це зможемо, якщо всі футболісти будуть в строю». Йоахім Льов, головний тренер збірної Німеччини: «Для нас немає різниці, з ким грати. Група дуже серйозна. Всі збірні мають за плечима великі перемоги, вони дуже збалансовані. Данці були кращими за нас в останніх відбірних циклах, голландці – фіналісти чемпіонату світу, німці взагалі рекордсмени з перемог на чемпіонатах Європи. Що ж, тим буде цікавіше». Джованні Трапаттоні, головний тренер збірної Ірландії: «Я особливо не розраховував на те, що нам випадуть не дуже сильні суперники. З четвертого кошика, де ми знаходилися, на це сподіватися було б неправильно. Ми не хотіли потрапити на Німеччину, Англію, Голландію та Іспанію. Останні з нами в групі, але, думаю, до матчу Джамала

з чемпіонами світу ми вирішимо завдання виходу з групи». Славен Білич, головний тренер збірної Хорватії: «Будь-яка група непроста. Наша – не виняток. Приємно, що випала честь грати з чинними і колишніми чемпіонами світу. Втім, ми не живемо надією. У Хорватії є всі можливості бути кращими за суперників, тож шанси на успіх вважаю реальними. Нас чекають три захопливі матчі. Суперників поважаю, але не боюся».

Олег Блохін, головний тренер збірної України: «Турнір, на мій погляд, за складом учасників вийде найсильнішим в історії чемпіонатів Європи. Не знаю чому, але передбачав, що нам випаде Англія. Позитивом вважаю, що до нас потрапили Швеція і Франція. Українська збірна очікує на реванш за нещодавні поразки. Це стане додатковою мотивацією для команди. Наше завдання залишається незмінним: маємо виходити в плей-офф, а там побачимо. Успішно грати можна з будь-яким суперником, що виступить у фінальній частині Євро-2012». Фабіо Капелло, головний тренер збірної Англії: «Мене непокоїть те, що першу зустріч ми проводимо з Францією. Це досить сильна команда. Відзначу й Україну, вона гратиме в рідних стінах. Між тим, нам до снаги подолати груповий етап. Є велика ймовірність нашої зустрічі з Італією вже на стадії чвертьфіналу, а цього особисто мені дуже не хочеться». Ерік Хамрен, головний тренер збірної Швеції: «Мені сподобалися результати жеребкування. Цікаво грати з такими сильними суперниками. Чудово пам’ятаю, як кілька місяців тому обіграли збірну України, але то була товариська гра. Попереду – битва за результат із зовсім іншими наслідками. Не хотів би починати турнір з матчу з господарями. Але жереб не зміниш». Лоран Блан, головний тренер збірної Франції: «Мені немає на що скаржитися, бо розумію, що ми могли бути на місці Данії. А там, самі розумієте, очі підвести не дадуть. У нас же є явний фаворит – Англія. Три інші команди мають рівні шанси на вихід до плей-офф. To qualify from the group stage of the European Championship the national team of Ukraine needs to beat one of the two top teams that once were the strongest in the world. Only participants of the EURO from Group C, in which, likewise, two world champions will play, and, naturally, Group B can boast such selection of teams. Three European champions from different times and one finalist have gathered there. Given the titles quartet from Group A shyly “smokes on the porch”, although though mediocre, but approximately equal class teams will play there.

Nervous wait The exterior of the Ukraine Palace of Arts does not look at all like the place where the fate of the main football tournament of the next year is to be decided. Everyday life of the capital diluted only by an ice sculpture of Henri Delaunay Cup installed at the main entrance. However, inside continuous motion reminded a beehive. Journalists tried to remember location of zones, where after the draw ceremony they will first hold photo sessions for team managers and then lead them to hungry for comments media representatives. Exactly at seven the screen found UEFA President Michel Platini in the hall, and almost simultaneously Virsky dance ensemble demonstrated their hopak to the world. It turned out just brilliant: at a small stage fifty artists divided into three groups presented the national dance with elements of martial arts. After them the presenters appeared – Ukrainian Olha Freimut and Pole Piotr Sobchynsky. The welcome specch was provided by President Viktor Yanu-

kovych, who finished the speech in the language of the progenitors of football. The most interesting began after the video presentation of stadiums and cultural heritage of EURO 2012 host cities. 13 legends of world football ascended the scene, led by the author of the decisive goal in the first play-off in 1960 – Victor Ponedelnik. “I am very happy that big football will come to Ukraine”, the legendary forward repeated the words he said in an interview with our magazine several months ago. The Rostov native was followed by the winners of the European Championships from different times: Luis Suarez (Spain), Gianni Rivera (Italy), Paul Breitner (Germany), Antonin Panenka (Czechoslovakia), Horst Hrubesch (Germany), Alain Giresse (France), Marco van Basten (Holland), Peter Schmeichel (Denmark), Oliver Bierhoff (Germany), Zinedine Zidane (France), Antonios Nikopolidis (Greece) and Joan Capdevila (Spain). Official ball and song The ball was presented by legendary Ukrainian athlete Serhiy Bubka. At the Euro they will play with “Tango-12”. It is the successor of “Tango River Plate”, “Tango Mundial” and “Tango Europe” balls, with which they played at world and European championships since 1978. Its belonging to the current Euro, according to the producers, is signified by elements of flags colours and decorative patterns that have historically been used for framing in rural areas of Ukraine and Poland. They designed the ball for two years. They promise that it will be the best in football history. Football players, in their turn, have already managed to evaluate its property: after the draw each national team has received 30 units for testing. The official song of Euro 2012 will be sung by German-American pop star

Oseana sigs in funk and soul, pop and jazz styles, that is unites seemingly incompatible – European and African American music. Her new hit will be released on the eve of Euro 2012. Van Basten does not look for an easy way The draw ceremony itself was held by general secretary Gianni Infantino, and football legends Peter Schmeichel, Horst Hrubesch, Marco van Basten and Zinedine Zidane. Primarily they determined fate of the strongest national teams of the world – Spain and Holland. They decided who will play in Kharkiv, and who – in Gdansk, where, incidentally, current world and European champions have noted a place for themselves. Van Basten sent the Dutch to Ukraine, although Marwijk’s team has prepared a nest for itself in Krakow in advance. Well, they will fly then, as in hour and a half you can reach any host city by plane. Then they were deciding fate of teams from the fourth batch of lots, at the same time setting them to sequence numbers. Zidane “helped” us, sending to our group the strongest team from the outsiders – the French national team. Then – easier. The legendary French gave us the Swedes as our opponents in the first match. Van Basten, also in his style, dealt Portugal to his compatriots… And then, finally, the second basket, from which even the mention of Germany made one break out into a sweat. It was close for Ukraine: we got Eng-

land. And a minute before all the same Marco van Basten completed the aggressive picture of Group B participants. It was there Joachim Loew’s team have gone. Russia, traditionally, got an easy fate: they got Slavs watered down with Greeks in Group A. The whole ceremony lasted 54 minutes. Thus, the die is cast, now one can easily plan the schedule for June 2012. I will single out the Polish national team separately. It is the host, thus is in a special position. I expect an interesting fight. Our task is to progress as far as possible into the tournament.” Franciszek Smuda, manager of the national team of Poland: “It is good that we have got teams that are not considered favourites. But I know that it is no easier to qualify from such groups. We are to begin with Greeks. We will do our best to be well prepared for it. It is believed that the best prospects are

for Russia and Greece, but we will try to convince them to think something else.” Fernando Santos, manager of the national team of Greece: “Each of the members of our group has a 25 per cent probability of entering the playoffs. I think we got a bit lucky with the draw, it is left for us to prove it in practice. It will be difficult because it is difficult to prepare oneself for not the strongest opponent. I believe in my players, we will be fully equipped at the Euro.” Michal Bilek, manager of the national team of Czech Republic: “My hopes have come true. I thought that at the first stage we will play with the Poles and Greeks. In general my attitude to the draw is neutral. Завершення будівництва на ключових об’єктах абсолютно змінює картину української підготовки до Євро-2012. Це ми бачимо на нових аренах, де успішно пройшли перші матчі. Без п’яти хвилин – здача в експлуатацію нових аеровокзалів, які до весни мають збільшити потужності українських аеропортів. Які завдання залишились на останні півроку 2012-го – про це в ексклюзивному інтерв’ю журналу Ukraine2012 розповів Віце-прем’єр-міністр України – Міністр інфраструктури Борис Колесніков.

орисе Вікторовичу, 2010-й рік підготовки Ви назвали «спекотним» через шалені темпи будівництва об’єктів. Яким став 2011-й – рік здачі двох арен і трьох терміналів? Без перебільшення, 2011-й можна назвати найважливішим роком. Адже у 2012-му році до турніру залишиться 5 місяців і 1 тиждень – якби ми не здали головні об’єкти, вже багато речей не можна було б зробити технологічно. Наприкінці року можуть з полегшенням зітхнути всі люди, задіяні в підготовці до Євро. Починаючи з будівельників,

спілки вкотре хвалив наші арени. Як Ви оціните нові стадіони? Враження від НСК позитивні. Хоча будувався об’єкт важко: на затисненому майданчику, у стислий термін і без проекту. Тим не менше, це наша гордість. В УЄФА розуміють, що «Олімпійський» – головна арена Євро, фінальна. Тому раніше Мішель Платіні заявляв: не буде стадіону – не буде Євро. Тепер стадіон є – чекаємо на фінал. У листопаді був зіграний перший матч на НСК. Але чим більше ми зіграємо матчів до чемпіонату, тим

це зовсім інші стадіони. Деякі іспанські арени, які готували до чемпіонату світу-82, досі функціонують. Вони не надто зручні для глядачів, особливо «Камп Ноу», але тут досі грають найважливіші матчі євротурнірів. Наступні єврооб’єкти, будівництво яких завершується у грудні, – три аеровокзали.

вили під сумнів проведення європейської першості в нашій державі. Але ми впорались. Після відкриття УЄФА поспішив назвати стадіон одним з найкомфортніших на Євро-2012. Західна Україна отримала спортивний об’єкт, який регіон ніколи не мав. Подібних арен і в Європі дуже мало. Навіть стадіон німецької «Боруссiї» поступається за класом львiвськiй арені. Чи є план розвитку цих об’єктів після 2 липня 2012-го? Львівським стадіоном, як і НСК «Олімпійський», і ще кількома об’єктами державної власності, буде керувати спеціально створений концерн «Спортивні арени України». Щодо використання арени у Львові, то, на жаль, є лише одна футбольна команда високого рівня – «Карпати». Ведуться переговори про підписання найближчим часом угоди про проведення домашніх матчів між НСК «Олімпійський», ФФК та «Динамо» (Київ). Згідно із стратегією розвитку НСК «Олімпійський», арена має вийти на самоокупність через два роки. У 2012му заплановані прибутки становлять 110 млн грн при бюджеті стадіону у 120–125 млн грн – з різницею в 10%. Подібні завдання ставимо і перед «Ареною Львів». Загалом же всі чотири арени мають добрячий запас міцності – об’єкти відповідатимуть європейським вимогам ще 30 років. Якщо порівняти їх з аренами 80-х, то 22

Чи сформовані управлінські команди в нових аеропортах? Сьогодні в терміналах Донецька, Києва та Львова закінчуються будівельні роботи. Без п’яти хвилин готовий МА «Харків», де завершують роботи на злітно-посадковій смузі. Незабаром проведемо «тихе» відкриття трьох аеровокзалів: поступово запускатимемо одну авіакомпанію, п’ять, десять – крок за кроком запрацюють всі аеропорти. Реальне відкриття відбудеться 25 березня 2012-го, починаючи з літнього європейського розкладу. Тоді гості України зможуть скористатись послугами в повній мірі. Управлінські команди для аеропортів майже сформовані. Хорошу школу має МА «Бориспіль», який сьогодні ділиться досвідом з молодими командами Донецька і Львова. Ми також співпрацюємо з Федеральним Урядом Німеччини, який надає консультативну допомогу в підготовці менеджменту. Підготовка України до Євро-2012 продемонструвала, що ми здатні вирішувати завдання найвищої складності. Ми швидко вчимося і незабаром будемо пишатися своїми аеропортами. До старту Євро залишилось менше 200 днів. Які пріоритети підготовки визначено на останні півроку 2012-го? Акценти підготовки до Євро наступного року – транспорт і дорожні проекти. У першому півріччі 2012-го важливим завданням визначено запуск швидкісного сполучення між містамигосподарями. Сполучення чотирьох приймаючих міст потягами Hyundai – масштабний проект. На перший погляд, зв’язати чотири міста неважко. Та враховуючи те, що наша країна ніколи не переймалась питаннями пришвидшеного руху – це велетенський стрибок для транспортної системи. Тут треба міняти не тільки всю технологію пересування, а й психологію і філософію залізничного персоналу і пасажирів. Сьогодні залізниця виконала масштабну модернізацію інфраструктури за усі 20 років незалеж-

ності України. Тепер наш пасажир має сісти в комфортний потяг, мати можливість перекусити, скористатись Wi-Fi і добратись до кінцевого пункту в комфортних умовах. Часи, коли провідниця з похмілля намагається потрапити в купе зі склянкою чаю, треба забути назавжди. Можна залишити один екскурсійний потяг для іноземних туристів. Після Євро2012 Україна щорічно купуватиме по 20–25 швидкісних потягів Hyundai упродовж 6 років. І випускатися вони будуть в Україні. Корейська корпорація нині шукає підприємство, де буде організовано виробництво потягів. Друге – це дорожні проекти, які необхідно завершити повністю до 30 квітня 2012-го. Наша команда доклала гігантських зусиль для будівництва доріг. Від західних кордонів до Києва після реконструкції вже можна їхати дорогою високої якості. Нещодавно здали ділянку завдовжки понад 80 км – на автотрасі від Києва до російського кордону. Відкрита траса Київ – Житомир. Впевнений, що Україна за 10 років матиме дороги європейського зразка. Окрім цього, залишилось 500 маленьких завдань до Євро, які також необхідно вирішити. Важливо навіть, як працюватимуть обмінники. Адже гривня не продається в західних банках, а як продається – то на попереднє замовлення. Якщо більшість фанів забуде купити гривні у своїх банках, уявляєте, що станеться з нашими обмінниками? Такі питання ми обговорюємо в щоденному режимі. Українська збірна вже встигла випробувати нові євроарени. Чого Ви очікуєте від футболу на Євро-2012? Безумовно, фаворитами турніру є іспанці, чемпіони світу і Європи. У 2012-му можуть проявити себе збірні Німеччини і Франції – сильні команди, які давно голосно про себе не заявляли. Не слід недооцінювати також Англію, яка завжди була сильною. Водночас, футбол – дивовижна гра, яка часто демонструє несподіваний фінал. Нам, зокрема, треба більше думати про підготовку нашої збірної. На обох щойно відкритих аренах, НСК «Олімпійський» та «Арена Львів», перші матчі були вдалими. І перший гол у ворота символічно забили українці. Completion of construction at the key objects completely changes the picture of Ukraine’s preparations for Euro 2012. We see this in the new arenas where the first matches have already been successfully held. Putting new air terminals into operation is fast approaching, and they are due to increase the capacity of Ukrainian airports by spring. Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov has spoken in an exclusive interview with the Ukraine 2012 magazine about the tasks for the remaining six months in 2012.

r Kosesnikov, you have said that the year 2010 had been “heated” in preparations because of hectic pace of objects’ construction. What kind of year has 2011 become in view of putting into operation two arenas and three terminals? It will not be an exaggeration to say that 2011 was the most important year. The point is that five months and one week will be left in 2012 before the tournament, and if we had not put the major facilities into operation it would have been impossible to accomplish many things technologically. All people involved in preparations for EURO will be able to breathe a sigh with relief at the end of the year: from construction workers who had been working on construction sites in three shifts to President Viktor Yanukovych who had identified preparations for the championship as one of the three national priorities back in his inauguration speech. UEFA President Michel Platinin said “Bravo!” to Ukraine in September, and the European Association chief recently praised our arenas once again. How do you evaluate the new stadiums? Impressions from the Olympic NSC are positive. However, its construction

was fulfilled with difficulties: at a tense construction site, within shorts terms and without a project. But nevertheless, this is our pride. There is understanding in UEFA that the Olympic is the main EURO arena, the final one. We already have the stadium, and we are looking forward to the final. The first match was played in the NSC in November. But the more matches played by us before the championship, the better and with higher coordination support systems of this sophisticated object will operate. Test trials will be conducted both this year and next spring. I consider the inauguration of the Lviv stadium to be Lviv’s victory. The object was actually built in recordbreaking terms. When I first came to inspect Lviv in spring 2010, the situation was so critical that it cast doubt on our country hosting the European tournament. But we have coped. Following the inauguration, UEFA immediately described our stadium as one of the most comfortable for EURO 2012. Western Ukraine has already got the sports object which the region has never had before. There are not so many arenas of this kind in Europe either. Even the Borussia stadium in Germany is inferior to the Arena Lviv in terms of its class. Is there a plan for the development of these objects after 2 July 2012? The Lviv stadium, the same way as the Olympic NSC and some other stateowned objects, will be controlled by a specially established corporation called Sports Arenas of Ukraine. As regards the use of the arena in Lviv, unfortunately, there is just one high-level football team: Karpaty. Negotiations are under way on signing an agreement on conducting home matches between the Olympic NSC, Football Clubs’ Federation and Dymano (Kyiv) in the near future. In line with the strategy of Olympic NSC development, the arena should

reach a level of self-repayment in two years times. Incomes planned for 2012 equal 110 million hryvnyas, while the stadium budget is 120-125 million hryvnyas: the difference is 10 per cent. We are setting similar tasks of Arena Lviv as well. In general, all four arenas have a sufficient safety factor: the objects will comply with European requirements for 30 more years. If we compare them to the arenas of 1980s, these stadiums are completely different. Some Spanish arenas prepared for the 1982 World Cup still operate. They are not very comfortable for spectators, and especially the Camp Nou, but most important European tournament matches are still played there. Construction of the next EURO objects, three air terminals, is due to be completed in December. Are management teams for the new airports already formed? Construction works at the Donetsk, Kyiv and Lviv terminals are presently at the final stage. Kharkiv International Airport is almost complete: works on the runway are presently at the final stage there. We shall soon “calmly” inaugurate three air terminals: we shall gradually admit one air company, then five and 10, and all airports will start operating step-by-step. The actual inauguration will be held on 25 March 2012 when the European summer timetable is introduced. Then guests of Ukraine will be able to use the services in their entirety. The management teams for the airports have been almost completely formed. Boryspil International Airport has got good experience, and it is presently sharing its skills with young teams from Donetsk and Lviv. We also collaborate with the German Federal Government which provides us consultative assistance in management staff training. Ukraine’s preparations for EURO 2012 have demonstrated that we are able to resolve most difficult tasks. We learn quickly, and we shall soon be proud of our airports. There are less than 200 days left before the start of EURO. What priorities have been outlined for the remaining six months in 2012? Accents in preparations for EURO next year are transport and road projects. The launch of high-speed communication between the host cities has been determined as an important task for the first half of 2012. Hyundai trains connecting the four host cities is a large-scale project. At

first sight it is not difficult to connect the four cities. But taking into account the fact that our country never took care of high-speed transportation issues, this is an immense leap for the transport sector. Not only the whole transportation technology, but also psychology and philosophy of railway personnel and passengers should be changed here. The railway has already carried out the largest-scale infrastructure upgrade for all 20 years of Ukraine’s independence. Our passengers should already take comfortable trains, be able to have

opened. I am convinced that Ukraine will have European-type motorways within 10 years. Besides this, 550 small tasks for EURO are still left, and they also have to be resolved. Even the way exchange offices will operate is of importance. The point is that hryvnyas are not sold in foreign banks, but if they are sold, they should be ordered in advance. If the majority of fans forget to buy hryvnyas in their banks, can you imagine what will happen to our exchange offices? We discuss these issues every day.

The times when a conductor with a hangover tried to enter a compartment with a glass of tea should be forgotten forever. One train for excursions by foreign tourists may be left. Ukraine will annually buy between 20 and 25 highspeed Hyundai trains in the course of six years after EURO 2012. They will be produced in Ukraine. The Korean corporation is presently looking for an enterprise where train production will be organized. Second, these are motorway projects which have to be fully completed by 30 April 2012. Our team has exerted immense efforts for road construction. It will be possible to use a high-speed motorway from the Western borders to Kyiv after the reconstruction. An 80-km-long segment of the motorway between Ukraine and the Russian border was recently put into operation. The Kyiv-Zhytomyr motorway has been

The Ukrainian national team has already managed to test new EURO arenas. What do you expect from football during EURO 2012? Of course, being World and European champions, the Spaniards are the favourites of the tournament. The German and French national teams may show their worth in 2012: they are strong teams which have not shown themselves loudly for a long time. England, which has always been strong should not be underestimated either. At the same time, football is a wonderful game which often presents an unexpected final. In particular, we have to think more about our national team’s preparations. The first matches in both recently opened arenas, the Olympic NSC and Arena Lviv, were successful. Підготовка до Євро-2012 дала значний поштовх у розвитку авіаційної інфраструктури України. Тільки за останні півтора року Україна побудувала аеропорти, які разом кожну годину можуть приймати до 22 тисяч гостей. Наступними після стадіонів естафету готовності підхопили «приймаючі» аеропорти – сьогодні тут завершуються основні будівельні роботи. Окрім Харківського аеровокзалу, який був збудований коштом приватного інвестора ще минулого року, наприкінці грудня 2011-го планується здати першу чергу терміналів у київському, донецькому та львівському аеропортах. Готовність об’єктів на кінець листопада, за місяць до завершення робіт, становить 80–85%. Офіційний запуск аеровокзалів пройде у березні, на початку літнього європейського сезону. На головному терміналі країни – квітка

Термінал «D» найпотужнішого аеропорту країни МА «Бориспіль» більше обслуговуватиме фінальне місто Київ, тож тут і роботи чимало. Зважаючи на очікуване прибуття великої кількості людей на футбольний чемпіонат, пропускна спроможність терміналу була збільшена до трьох тисяч пасажирів на годину. Отже, після запуску аеровокзал зможе обслуговувати левову частку столичних гостей, зокрема й вболівальників Євро-2012. Для оптимізації пересування на вході терміналу встановили процесор, здатний одночасно провести реєстрацію на 90 рейсів. Встановлюють 60 кабінок на виліт, окремо 60 на приліт, щоб уникнути черг під час проходження паспорт-контролю. Передбачено максимальні зручності для пасажирів при оформленні багажу. А телескопічні трапи дозволяють на всі рейси проходити безпосередньо до літака, не очікуючи спецтранспорту. Сьогодні у збудованому корпусі завершено роботи з монтажу системи обробки багажу, встановлено трапи і травелатори, закінчують монтаж ескалаторів та ліфтів. Окрім цього, тестують всі інженерні, інформаційні та безпекові системи життєдіяльності терміналу. Великий простір дозволяє моделювати логістику. Тут передбачили можливість обслуговування міжнародних та внутрішніх рейсів (здійснюватиметься на другому повер-

сі будівлі). Відтак пасажири зможуть пересісти з одного рейсу на інший, включно із внутрішніми, не залишаючи терміналу. А на території прилеглого паркінгу можуть розміститися 233 автомобілі. Після завершення будівництва новий термінальний комплекс «D» аеропорту «Бориспіль» стане найбільшим в Україні. Його площа сягне понад 100 тисяч квадратних метрів. Аеровокзал дозволить збільшити конкурентоспроможність головних повітряних воріт країни. Зважаючи на те, що окрім терміналу «D», у Борисполі до Євро завершують розширення аеровокзалу «F» та реконструкцію «B», нормативи УЄФА щодо пасажироспроможності будуть виконані.

Донецький термінал: роботи на фініші

На завершальній стадії роботи і в Донецькому аеропорту, який ще влітку здав в експлуатацію найдовшу в Україні ЗПС, нещодавно завершив будівництво авіадиспетчерської вежі. А в листопаді МА «Донецьк» офіційно назвали іменем знаменитого композитора Сергія Прокоф’єва. Аеровокзальний комплекс – найважливіша ділянка роботи. Передусім вражають масштаби: площа будівлі – понад 50 тисяч квадратних метрів. На спорудженні терміналу задіяли близько 1200 чоловік і 150 одиниць техніки. Завершено будівництво нульового циклу і на всіх чотирьох поверхах корпусу, повністю винесені інженерні ме-

За півроку до Євро-2012 готовність нового терміналу перевищує 80%. У терміналі встановлені всі аеромости, змонтовані ліфти та ескалатори. На території нового аеровокзалу завершують внутрішньо-оздоблювальні роботи. Ще в серпні будівельники змонтували близько 50% багажного обладнання, встановили внутрішні інженерні мережі. Щоб встигнути виконати усі роботи вчасно, робітники працювали без вихідних – i вдень, i вночі. Будівництво у всіх напрямках поступово виходить на фінішну пряму – першу чергу аеровокзалу готують до здачі в експлуатацію 20 грудня 2011го. Сьогодні запускають і тестують систему безпеки та управління нового аеровокзалу: передбачено впроварежі з будмайданчика, укладено дах і майже засклено фасад будівлі. На фінішній прямій – зведення естакади, яка розподілятиме потоки людей: вже вбиті палі, забетоновані колони та металоконструкції, от-от завершать роботи на багаторівневому паркінгу. Сьогодні в терміналі встановлюють всі необхідні системи життєдіяльності, паралельно проводять пусконалагоджувальні операції. У цьому об’єкті проектувальники поєднали найкращі архітектурні рішення зі світовим досвідом роботи подібних об’єктів. Тож простір спланували з максимальним комфортом для людей. Потоки пасажирів, які прилітають та вилітають, не перетинатимуться. Комплекс аеропорту побудований таким чином, що пасажир з літака потрапляє в термінал через спеціальні телескопічні трапи, потім проходить всі необхідні митні процедури і може потрапити на автостанцію або паркінг спеціальними критими галереями. Після запуску аеровокзалу МА «Донецьк» у вісім разів збільшить пасажиропотік на Євро, порівняно з нинішнім показником (вимога УЄФА – 3100 проти нинішніх 350 на годину).

Термінал з королівським комфортом

Кипить робота і у Львові, де, як відомо, роботи виконуються без закриття аеропорту. Нещодавно будівництво ЗПС перетнуло символічну межу – 2000 метрів. На території нового терміналу МА «Львів» роботи зосереди лись на інженерному забезпеченні, оскільки від них залежить успішна експлуатація нового аеровокзалу. Те28

плові мережі, газопостачання, дощова та побутова каналізація – усе готове на 100%. На завершальному етапі – будівництво кабельних ліній і насос ної станції. Півтора року тому був оптимізований проект, який дозволив вдвічі збільшити пропускну спроможність аеровокзалу (до 2 тисяч пасажирів на годину), при цьому площа зросла лише на 18% (до 48 тис. 320 кв. м), порівняно з попереднім проектом. Цього вдалося досягти, перепланувавши площі, змінивши плани з обслуговування пасажиропотоків, створивши додаткові прибудови до аеровокзалу. Суттєво покращена й архітектурна частина: у металево-скляної будівлі в стилі хай-тек з’явився елегантний хвилястий дах. Майже вдвічі збільшилась і площа автостоянок – до 32,5 тис. кв. м.

Preparations for Euro 2012 gave considerable impetus to the development of the aviation infrastructure in Ukraine. In the last one and a half years alone Ukraine has built airports, which together can take up to 22,000 visitors every hour. Following in the wake of stadiums the baton was picked up by “host” airports – today main construction works are being completed here. In addition to the airport terminal in Kharkiv, which was built at the expense of a private investor last year, it is planned to commission the first stage of terminals at Kyiv, Donetsk and Lviv airports at the end of December 2011. The readiness of the facilities at the end of November, a month before completion, stood at 80-85%. The official launch of air terminals will take place in March, at the beginning of the summer European season. The first flight from Terminal D will take place on 25 March 2012. At the main terminal of the country – a flower

Terminal D of the most powerful airport of the country, Boryspil International Airport, will mostly service the final city of Kyiv, so there is a lot of work here as well. To service the fans and guests of the football championship the throughput of Terminal D at Boryspil International Airport was increased to 3,000 passengers per hour. After the launch the terminal will be able to serve the lion’s share of the capital’s guests, as well as fans of Euro 2012. To optimize the movement at the terminal’s entrance a processor capable of simultaneously conducting registration of 90 flights was installed. Sixty separate booths are being installed

for departure and 60 for arrival to avoid queues at passport control. Maximum conveniences are provided for passengers at the luggage registration, which is carried out without any additional waiting. And telescopic gangways allow passengers to go directly to the aircraft, without waiting for special transport, at all flights. Today, in the constructed building works on assembly of luggage processing systems are complete, gangways and travelators are installed and installation of escalators and elevators is being completed. In addition, today all vital engineering, information and safety systems of the terminal are being tested. The large territory (100,000 square metres) allows the modelling of logistics. Here

Given the fact that in addition to Terminal D, in Boryspil for Euro they are completing expansion of Terminal F and reconstruction of Terminal B, UEFA’s regulations concerning the throughput of the Kyiv will be complied with.

Donetsk terminal – works are at the finishing line

Works at Donetsk Airport, which back in summer put into operation the longest runway in Ukraine and has recently completed the construction of an air control tower, are also nearing the final stage. And in November Donetsk International Airport was officially named after famous composer Sergei Prokofiev. The airport complex is the most important part of work. The first thing that impresses is the scale – the area of the building is over 50,000 square metres. The construction of the terminal em30

ploys about 1,200 people and 150 vehicles. Zero stage of construction and construction works on all four floors of the building are completed, engineering communications have been removed from the construction site entirely, the roof has been put up and the facade of the building is almost glazed. The construction of an overpass, which will distribute flows of people, is at the homestretch: piles have already been driven into the ground, columns and metal structures have been coated in concrete, works on multilevel parking are about to be finished. Today they are installing all the necessary vital systems at the terminal and, at the same time, conduct commissioning operations. In this facility designers have combined the best architectural solutions with world experience of operation of similar facilities. Thus, space planning is being done with maximum comfort for people in mind. The flows of arriving and departing passengers do not intersect. The airport complex is built so that passengers from an aircraft enter the terminal through special telescopic gangways, then pass all the necessary customs procedures and can get to the bus stop or special parking by special covered galleries. After its launch the Terminal of Donetsk International Airport will increase passenger traffic for Euro by 8 times compared with the current figure (the UEFA requirement is 3,100 against the current 350 per hour).

Terminal with royal comfort

Work is also in full swing in Lviv, where, as you know, works are being performed without closing the airport. The con-

struction of the runaway recently passed a symbolic threshold – 2,000 metres. On the territory of the new terminal at Lviv International Airport works are focused on engineering networks, because successful operation of the new terminal depends on them. Thermal networks, gas supply, rainwater and household sewage – everything is 100% ready. The construction of cable lines and

pumping station is at the final stage. One and a half years ago the project was optimized, which allowed a doubling in the terminal throughput (up to 2,000 passengers per hour), and the area was increased by only 18% (up to 48 thousand 320 square metres) compared to the previous project. This has been achieved by re-planning the areas, changing plans for servicing passenger flows, creating additional extensions to the terminal. The architectural part was also significantly improved – the metal and glass building

in high-tech style got an elegant wavy roof. The parking area was almost doubled as well – up to 32,500 square metres. In overall terms, with six months to go to Euro 2012 the readiness of the new terminal exceeds 80%. All air bridges, elevators and escalators have been installed in the terminal. In the territory of the new terminal internal finishing works are being completed. Back in August builders assembled about 50% of the luggage equipment and arranged internal engineering networks. To complete all works on time workers worked every day, day and night. Construction in all areas is gradually coming to the final straight – the first stage of the terminal will be prepared for commissioning by approximately 20 December 2011. They are currently launching and testing the security and control system of the new air terminal – implementation of the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network is provided (in the previous project it was not covered at all), improvement of RESA passenger service information system, which will allow the servicing of 2,000 passengers per hour. The rebuilt airport is designed to

service A, B, C and D class (such as Boeing-767) aircraft. After completion of all works the “air gate” of Galicia, which so far has serviced 8 regions of Ukraine, will turn into a powerful regional port. An international hub can be created in future on the basis of Lviv Airport, which would correspond to the level of Boryspil Airport. У Харкові відкрили нову ЗПС аеропорту

В міжнародному аеропорту Харкова відкрито нову злітно-посадкову смугу. Першим нову ЗПС протестував літак, яким до приймаючого міста із робочим візитом прибув Віце-прем’єр-міністр – Міністр інфраструктури України Борис Колесніков. Пізніше тут приземлилися регулярний рейс Київ – Харків та чартер Копенгаген – Харків із гравцями футбольного клубу «Копенгаген» на борту. Як наголосили у прес-службі компанії DCH, відкриття нової ЗПС ознаменувало завершення трирічного періоду масштабних будівельних робіт із реконструкції одного з найважливіших об’єктів транспортної інфраструктури Слобожанщини. Раніше були здані в експлуатацію привокзальна площа і новий пасажирський термінал, а також VIP-корпус і тимчасовий аеровокзал.

A new runway was opened at Kharkiv International Airport on 28 November. The first plane to test the new runway was which delivered Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov to the host city on a working visit. Then the Kyiv-Kharkiv regular flight and the Copenhagen-Kharkiv charter flight with Copenhagen football club players on board landed here. The press service of the DCH company emphasized that the inauguration finalizes a three-year period of large-scale construction works in the reconstruction of one of the most important facilities of the Kharkiv Region’s transport infrastructure. A square in front of the terminal and a new passenger terminal, along with VIP lounge building and provisional air terminal, were put into operation earlier.

Про це Інформаційному центру «Украї на-2012» повідомив керівник ДП «Україна-Всесвіт» Нац агентства Євро-2012 (Укрєвроінфрапроект) Роман Кожара. За його словами, ці відео – інструменти нової промоційної кампанії України до Євро-2012, яка має назву «High time to see Ukraine». Вона прийшла на зміну серії «Switch on Ukraine». До переліку медіаресурсів, на яких буде проведена кампанія, входять 7 міжнародних телеканалів – CNN, BBC World News, National Geographic channel (Nat Geo Wild), FOX, Sky Sports та SkyNews, Eurosport, загальна потенційна аудиторія яких становить понад 2 544 млрд людей та охоплює Європу, Африку, Азію, Австралію, Північну та Південну Америки, а також Близький Схід. Ukraine has released new promo clips for Euro 2012. The series of clips primarily intended for a European audience contain information about Ukraine and the future championship, the head of the Ukrayina-Vsesvit (Ukraine-Universe) state enterprise at the Euro 2012 National Agency (Ukreuroinfraproekt), Roman Kozhara, told the Information Centre Ukraine-2012. According to him, these video clips are instruments of Ukraine’s new promo campaign for Euro 2012 named High time to see Ukraine”. It replaced the “Switch on Ukraine” series. The list of the media resources where the campaign will be waged comprises seven international TV channels: CNN, BBC World News, National Geographic channel (Nat Geo Wild), FOX, Sky Sports and Sky News, Eurosport. Their general audience is over 2.544 billion people and covers Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, North and South America, along with the Middle East. The total number of video presentations planned on these channels is 8,500. It has been also planned to place banners on official websites of these international resources (over 2 million presentations).

Kyiv to open 60 facilities for tourists

Within the framework of the programme of preparations for Euro 2012, 23 tourist information centres and 41 tourist information outlets will be opened in Kyiv in the near future, the Information Centre Ukraine-2012 has been informed by the press service of the head of the Kyiv City Council Commission for Culture and Tourism, Oleksandr Bryhynets. “All tourism cities in Europe are full of information stands and places where tourists can get information about the city and the country,” Bryhynets emphasized. The councillor has also said that information centers and outlets are planned to be placed in the central part of the city: in fan zones, at transport stops, along with airports, railways stations and bus terminals. Up to three persons will work in each information centre, and one person in each information outlet: they will provide the necessary information.

За кордоном розуміють, що без таких центрів створити комфортні умови для туристів неможливо. В Києві поки що такого немає, можливо, якби не Євро-2012, то й не було б», – наголосив п. Бригинець. Депутат повідомив, що інформаційні центри та пункти планують розмістити в центральній частині міста: у фан-зонах, на транспортних зупинках, а також в аеропортах, на залізничних і автовокзалах. В кожному інфоцентрі працюватиме до трьох осіб, в інфопункті – по одній особі, які надаватимуть необхідну інформацію.

В «Хюндаїв» – українська назва! «Український експрес» – саме таку назву отримали швидкісні поїзди «Hyundai», які перевозитимуть гостей майбутнього Євро-2012. Про це стало відомо за підсумками всеукраїнського конкурсу на найкращу назву та логотип підприємства швидкісного руху, а також міжрегіональних електропоїздів виробництва «Hyundai Rotem». Змагання тривали з 23 червня по 23 липня.

“Hyundais” have a Ukrainian name! “Ukrainian Express”– thisis the name given to Hyundai highspeed trains, which will carry guests of the future EURO. This became known on the results of competition for the best name and logo of the high-speed transportationenterprise and inter-regional electric trains produced by Hyundai Rotem. The Ukrzaliznytsia deputy director general Leonid Loboyko named the winners in three nominations. In the “Name of high-speed transportation enterprise” winner was Serhiy Ovcharenko (village of Olenevka, Donetsk Region) with the name “Ukrainian high-speed railway company”. The best logo (brand) for a high-speed transportation enterprise was proposed by Kyiv resident Maria Zaitseva, and in the “Name of interregional electric train” nomination Lyudmyla Zaitseva from Kyiv won with the name “Ukrainian Express”. The winners were awarded prizes of 10,000 UAH and invited to the opening of passenger movement of interregional trains manufactured by Hyundai Rotem.

Євро-2012 підштовхнуло країну не лише будувати об’єкти, яких раніше бракувало, а й освоювати нові стандарти та норми у будівництві. Чотири стадіони, аеропорти, десятки готелів, а також інфраструктура будувалися і реконструювалися за проектами, що відповідають вимогам УЄФА, а також потребам всіх категорій вболівальників, в тому числі осіб з обмеженими фізичними можливостями. За час підготовки до турніру зробили комфортними і доступними не лише об’єкти Євро-2012 – значно зросла якість надання послуг пасажирам з обмеженими фізичними можливостями, якими вони користуватимуться без бар’єрів для самостійного пересування.

Стадіони Євро – відкриті для всіх

Українські стадіони Євро-2012 повністю задовольнили вимоги УЄФА щодо кількості місць та пристосованості інфраструктури арен для осіб з обмеженими фізичними можливостями. Необхідні норми для таких людей стадіони виконали на 102–135%. Крім того, на аренах забезпечили можливість вільно пересуватися будівлею, облаштували достатню кількість туалетів, ліфтів та паркомісць, а на входах встановили спеціальні турнікети.

«Донбас Арена»

«Донбас Арена», як відзначають самі вболівальники з вадами руху, – взірцевий стадіон, на якому для них передбачені всі умови для безбар’єрного пересування і перегляду матчів. На стадіоні обладнано 104 місця для людей з обмеженими можливостями (104% до вимог) і 92 місця для осіб, які їх супроводжують, що розташовуються в чотирьох зонах у периметрі стадіону. Зі «спецмісць» видно все. Навіть якщо люди попереду піднімуться і стоятимуть, вони все одно не закриють огляд. Для доступу на трибуни гості можуть скористатися спеціальними пан-

дусами, розташованими в північнозахідній і південно-східній частинах стадіону. Входи в чашу біля пандусів обладнані окремими турнікетами. На прилеглій до стадіону території є дві парковки – велика, на 62 місця, на північному сході, і менша, на 19 місць, з південного заходу. Для відвідувачів з обмеженими фізичними можливостями в касах стадіону передбачене окреме вікно, а окремі фаст-фуди на стадіоні мають спеціальні зручні під’їзди. В декількох метрах від зон розміщення вболівальників на інвалідних візках є спеціально обладнані туалетні кімнати, оснащені сигналізацією для виклику екстреної допомоги. Крім того, місця для цієї категорії вболівальників обладнані індивідуальною системою обігріву.

НСК «Олімпійський»

Спеціально для відвідувачів з особливими фізичними потребами на НСК «Олімпійський» передбачено 150 місць (150% до вимоги) на глядацьких трибунах з чудовим видом на поле, а також 150 місць для осіб, що супроводжують. 105 з них розміщені на першому ярусі східної трибуни, 25 – у першому ряду біля поля і ще 20 місць – у VIP-зоні. З північного боку арени облаштували систему пандусів, а підніматися на верхні сектори вболівальники зможуть спеціальним ліфтом. Під потреби осіб з обмеженими фізичними можливостями обладнані 9 санвузлів, а на парковці передбачено 111 місць для цієї категорії вболівальників.

Аеропорти Євро: комфорт від парковки до літака

Приймати гостей Євро-2012 в Україні готуються аеропорти у Борисполі, Києві (Жуляни), Донецьку, Харкові та Львові. Роботи з модернізації – на завершальній стадії, та вже зараз відповідальне за роботи Нацагентство з підготовки до Євро-2012 констатує: в аеропортах реалізовані всі умови для комфортного пересування пасажирів з обмеженими фізичними можливостями. Потреби інвалідів враховані в різних функціональних зонах: вхідних, зонах технологічного обслуговування, у санітарних приміщеннях, на

шляхах евакуації, а також у наданні додаткових послуг. Обслуговування груп населення з обмеженими фізичними можливостями передбачено як в загальному потоці, так і за окремою технологічною схемою, якщо пасажир не в змозі пересуватись самостійно. На входах/виходах, шляхах руху, в місцях з перепадами рівнів передбачені пандуси, поверхня всіх покриттів рівна та неслизька. У нових пасажирських аеровокзалах ліфти, дверні отвори та всі евакуаційні виходи мають параметри, що дозволяють використовувати інвалідну коляску. Всі аеропорти міст Євро-2012 забезпечені кріслами-візками для обслуговування осіб з вадами руху. Перонні автобуси, що перевозять пасажирів, повністю придатні для перевезення інвалідів та осіб з обмеженими фізичними можливостями, а ворота виходу на посадку обладнано телетрапами та спеціальними ліфтами. У випадку посадки на борт повітряного судна застосовується спеціалізований автоліфт для інвалідів. А на автостоянках виділені місця для особистого автотранспорту інвалідів, які мають спеціальну розмітку і ширину паркувального місця 3,5 м.

Пасажирський транспорт прибирає бар’єри

Модернізацію об’єктів дорожньо-транспортного комплексу також проводили за новими будівельними стандартами, що враховують потреби інвалідів і, зокрема, передбачають на вокзалах, станціях та перонах облаштування пандусів, спеціальних поручнів, ліфтів, ескалаторів, переходів, пішохідних доріжок з похилими з’їздами та виїздами, піктограмами тощо. У вокзальних комплексах та аеропортах – облаштування залів очікування та відпочинку для людей з інвалідністю, відповідно пристосованих камер схову, туалетних кімнат тощо.

Дороги й автотранспорт

У приймаючих містах до турніру парк громадського транспорту оновлюється на понад 50%. Нові автобуси та тролейбуси, які виробляє Львівський автобусний завод, – комфортні та пристосовані для перевезення інвалідів: із низьким рівнем підлоги, механічним трапом для інвалідних візків.

У 2010 році міста-господарі отримали 72 автобуси ЛАЗ, а в 2011 році передбачається укомплектувати парки громадського транспорту ще 734 автобусами і тролейбусами. Зокрема для столиці придбають 370 одиниць транспорту, Донецька – 143, Львова – 136 та Харкова – 85. Під час ремонту доріг також дбають про комфорт самостійного пересування інвалідів. За минулий рік на автошляхах загального користування переобладнали 1263 наземних пішохідних переходи: з’їзд та виїзд зробили пологим. У приймаючих містах продовжують приводити пішохідні переходи та з’їзди на зупинках у відповідність до потреб інвалідів, а також встановлювати попереджувальні сигнали на перехрестях. Так, у Харкові звуковими і мовними пристроями вже обладнали 21 світлофор, у Києві – 82, і до кінця року планують встановити ще 66.

Залізниця і метрополітен

На сьогодні в Україні понад 100 вокзалів та станцій країни забезпечені пандусами, що відкриває доступ до об’єктів інфраструктури залізничного транспорту. Всі вокзали обласних міст

забезпечені візками для обслуговування осіб, обмежених у пересуванні, мають пристосовані санітарні кімнати. Вагони у швидкісних поїздах «Хюндай», які курсуватимуть між приймаючими містами, матимуть всі зручності для перевезення осіб із обмеженими фізичними можливостями. А вже зараз на залізниці є 19 пасажирських вагонів, пристосованих до потреб інвалідів. В Києві та Харкові до послуг всіх категорій пасажирів готують і метро. Харківський метрополітен планує встановити у вагонах інформаційні табло для покращення орієнтування, працює над оформленням східців рельєфними смужками жовтого кольору. Київський метрополітен за час підготовки до Євро-2012 придбав 12 вітчизняних головних вагонів, пристосованих для перевезення інвалідів, і найближчим часом отримає ще 4. Всі входи на станції столичного метро обладнані звуковими орієнтирами для пасажирів з вадами зору. 129 сходових маршів мають з’їзди для візків. Euro 2012 has inclined the country not only to build the objects which were lacking previously, but also to develop new standards and specifications in construction. Four stadiums, airports, dozens of hotels, the same way as infrastructure, were being built and reconstructed according to the projects complying with UEFA requirement, along with the needs of all categories of fans, including persons with limited physical capacities. Not only were EURO 2012 objects made comfortable and accessible during the period of preparations for the tournament: the quality of services provided to passengers with limited physical capacities has substantially improved, and they will make use of them without restrictions for moving on their own.

EURO stadiums open for everyone

Ukraine’s EURO 2012 stadiums have fully satisfied UEFA requirements in terms of number of seats and arena infrastructure adjustment for persons with limited physical capacities. Stadiums have fulfilled the specifications necessary for these people by 102-135 per cent. Besides this, possibility to freely move within the building has been secured, sufficient number of toilets, lifts and parking slots has been arranged, and special turnstiles have been installed at entrances.

Donbass Arena

Fans with movement defects note that Donbass Arena is a model stadium where all conditions for unimpeded movement and viewing matches have been envisaged for them. The number of seats equipped at the stadium for people with limited capacities is 104 (104 per cent of needed), along with 92 seats for persons accompanying them; they are located in for areas along the perimeter of the stadium. Everything can be seen from “special seats”. Even if people in the front stand up and keep on standing, they will still not block the view. In order to enter the stands, guests can use special ramps located in north-western and south-eastern parts of the stadium. Entrances to the stadium bowl near ramps are equipped with separate turnstiles. There are two parking areas on the territory adjacent to the stadium: a large one with the capacity of 62 in the northeast and a small one with the capacity of 19 in the south-west.

A special window for people with limited physical capacities has been envisaged in the stadium’s ticket offices, and detached stadium fast foods have special convenient accesses. Special toilets equipped with an alarm system for calling emergency aid are located within some metres from the areas designated for fans in wheelchairs. Besides this, seats for this category of fans have been equipped with an individual heating system.

Olympic NSC

The number of seats in the Olympic NSC specially envisaged in stands for visitors with special physical needs which have prefect view of the field is 150 (150 per cent of needed), along with 150 seats for persons accompanying them. Of the, 105 are located in the first level of the eastern stand, 25 in the first row near the field and another 20 in the VIP area. Besides this, there are 72 + 72 seats in the arena for people with hearing and eyesight defects and persons accompanying them (120 per cent of needed). For making fans in wheelchairs feel most comfortable, special fast food outlets and four utility cores have been also arranged in the stadium: they are equipped with all elements necessary for comfortable use, with observance of specifications for area and size of the entrance doors. One of them is in the field level, and three other ones are in the first level gallery. Visitors with limited physical capacities will be able to reach their places with the help of two special lifts. will be located under Troyitska (Trinity) Square opposite the stadium. All necessary conditions will be created in country’s main stadium for conducting competitions among Paralympic sportsmen and Paralympic Games in the future.

Arena Lviv

The number of spectators’ seats for disabled people and persons accompanying them in Arena Lviv is 104 + 104 (104 per cent of needed). The number of seats with hearing and eyesight defects and persons accompanying them is 60 (100 percent of needed). A ramp system has been arranged in the northern side of the arena, and fans will be able to reach upper sectors with the help of special lifts. The number of utility cores equipped for needs of the people with limited physical capacities is nine, and 111 parking places for this category of fans have been envisaged.

The number of spectators’ seats envisaged in the stadium for disabled people in wheelchairs and persons accompanying them is

chairs will be placed somewhat lower, beneath them, in order to make everyone follow the game without hindrance. Unimpeded movement organized in the stadium enables people in wheelchairs to purchase tickets in a ticket office located near the entrance on their own and to enter the territory and take their seats with the help of ramps and special turnstiles. There are 10 utility cores here: they are equipped with all necessary elements for comfortable use with observance of specifications for area and size of the entrance doors, and the number of parking slots for groups of people with low mobility is 100.

EURO airports: comfort from parking to plane

Airports in Boryspil, Kyiv (Zhulyany), Donetsk, Kharkiv and Lviv are being prepared to receive EURO 2012 guests. Upgrading works are at the final stage, but the National Agency for EURO 2012 Preparation which is in charge of the works already states: all conditions for free movement of people with limited physical capacities have been already fulfilled in airports. Disabled people’s need have been taken into account in different functional areas: entrances, technological service areas, utility cores, emergency exits, the same way as in provision of additional services. Services for groups of people with limited physical capacities have been envisaged both in the general flow and in line with a special technological scheme in case if a person is unable to move on his own. Ramps have been envisaged at entrances/exits, in paths for movement and in places having level differences; the coating of all surfaces is even and skidresistant. Lifts, doorways and all emergency exits have the parameters which make possible the use of a wheelchair. All EURO 2012 city airports are equipped with wheelchairs for servicing people having movement defects. Platform buses which carry passengers are absolutely fit for transporting disabled people and persons with limited physical capacities, and the boarding exit gate is equipped with mobile ramps and special lifts. In cases of boarding an aircraft, a special automatic lift for disabled people is used. Places for disabled people’s motor vehicles have been allocated in parking areas: they have special marking, and the width of a parking slot is 3.5 m.

Passenger transport removes barriers

Objects in motorway transportation sector have been also upgraded in line with new construction standards which take into account the needs of disabled people and, in particular, envisage arrangement of ramps, special handrails, lifts, moving ramps, crossings, walking paths with sloping descents and exits, pictograms and so on in terminals, stations and platforms. Waiting and relaxation rooms for disabled people are also envisaged in railway terminal complexes and airports, along with properly adjusted cloakrooms, toilets and other facilities.

Motorways and motor transport

Public transport fleet in host cities will be upgraded by over 50 per cent for the tournament. New buses and trolleybuses manufactured by the Lviv Bus Plant are comfortable and fit for transporting disabled people: they have low floor level and a ladder for wheelchairs. Host cities received 72 LAZ buses in 2010, and public transport fleet is planned to be equipped with another 734 buses and trolleybuses in 2011. In particular, 370 transport units will be purchased for the capital city, 143 for Donetsk, 136 for Lviv and 85 for Kharkiv. When roads are renovated, care is taken of disable people’s comfort when they move on their own. The number of terrestrial pedestrian crosswalks reequipped on motorways for general use last year is 1,263; descents and exits have been made sloping. Pedestrian crosswalks and descents at stops in host cities are being further adjusted to the needs of disabled people, along with installation of warning signs at crossings. For example, 21 traffic lights have been already equipped with sonic and speaking devices in Kharkiv, 21 in Kyiv, and another 66 are planned to be installed by the end of the year.

Railway and metro

Over 100 railway terminals and stations in Ukraine have been already equipped with ramps, ensuring access to railway transport infrastructure objects. All railway stations in region centres have been equipped with wheelchairs for servicing people with limited movement capacities, and they have adjusted utility cores.

Carriages in high-speed Hyundai trains which will run between host cities will have all facilities for transporting people with limited physical capacities. Railway has already got 19 passenger carriages adjusted to the needs of disabled people. The subway in Kyiv and Kharkiv is also being prepared for servicing all categories of passengers. The Kharkiv subway plans to install information displays for better orientation in carriages and is working on marking stairs with relief stripes of yellow colour. During the period of preparation for EURO 2012, the Kyiv subway purchased 12 head carriages of domestic production equipped for transporting disabled people, and it will get four more in the near future. All entrances to stations in the capital city are equipped with sonic orientation signals for passengers with hearing defects. The number of stairways having descents for wheelchairs is 129. Besides this, six new stations in the capital city metro have been designed, taking into account disabled people’s needs: they have been equipped with 24 lifts, 12 ramps, and the same number of special elevators has been installed. За словами директора Департаменту Євро2012 Львівської міської ради Олега Засадного, бренд Львова ще працюватиме для покращення іміджу міста до Євро-2012. «Однак після чемпіонату доречно його переформатувати, сказавши, що «Львів уже знають у світі» чи «Львів відомий світу», – резюмує функціонер Євро. Працюють на іміджі своїх євроміст і бренди Донецька та Харкова. Графічне відображення іміджевої концепції столиці Донбасу – це поєднання протилежностей. Логотип, вугілля і троянди, уособлює «силу та красу», що ідентифікують Донецьк як промислове і привабливе для життя місто. Так його хочуть презентувати футбольним єврогостям місцеві мешканці. В досягненні цієї мети мають допомогти просування у світі бренду країни, випуск промороликів, виготовлення відеосюжетів і трансляція їх на провідних європейських та світових телеканалах тощо. Readiness of EURO facilities is the main image message Until recently, Ukraine was associated, say, for an ordinary resident of the EU, only with rare individuals – star citizens of our country. But, according to experts, the situation has begun to change lately. The serial opening of football facilities – the stadiums Donbass Arena and Metalist, and now – the Olympic NSC and Arena Lviv, airport terminals in Kyiv and Kharkiv, a number of world-class hotels – all gave occasion to speak in all parts of the world about Ukraine as a coorganizer of Euro 2012. Such attention to our state from the world community is a great opportunity to use the time during which the words of everything Ukrainian will be on lips of foreigners, to promote our own brand and improve the image of Ukraine in the world. And so the desire of leading local experts to join forces in order to use the Euro in promotional purposes most effectively. And according to the managing partner of Publicity Ukraine, Dmytro Vasylyev, now the primary positive message of Ukraine in promoting its image is that of built and commissioned European quality football arenas. “EURO stadiums are comfortable for teams, fans and attractive for TV broadcasters and viewers. The readiness of these facilities shows that Ukraine is working for a result and is a reliable partner”, the expert said during panel discussions called “Image of Ukraine before and after Euro 2012” which were held in November in the Hall of Champions at the Olympic NSC. The thoughts of Mr Vasylyev were shared by another participant of the event – Deputy Chairman of National Agency for Euro 2012 (Ukryevroinfraproekt) Valeriy Zhaldak. According to him, you can tell foreign visitors a thousand times about how many unique things Ukraine has, but it will not be effective, unless they see it with their own eyes and feel it by touching. “A few months ago, few believed in the power of Ukraine to build everything for the Euro in time, and recently all these sceptics had an opportunity to attend the opening of these facilities. Ukraine has proved that in unity and the desire to demonstrate its abilities to a united Europe it is capable of doing wonders”, Mr Zhaldak noted. He added that besides the push to improve the international image of Ukraine, Euro is a chance to stand and develop at quantum rates for those cities that will be hosting the Championship. 46

Euro means rapid development of cities The idea of rapid development of Euro cities in the light of preparations for the football tournament during the image event was generated by foreign expert – Martin Leberle, founder of the Academy of Management, Kyiv – Munich. As was noted by the expert

in the economy, the 1972 Olympics gave an unprecedented economic, social and infrastructural impetus to the progress of Munich in Germany. “I predict that this is what awaits all Ukrainian host cities. The whole of Europe can already see that new roads are being built and that old ones are being repaired, hotels are being built, the stadiums are ready and the construction of airports is nearing completion. And all of these things are catalysts for attracting investments”, the foreign expert emphasizes. But he stresses that the dynamic development of cities is not possible without thoughtful implementation of image concepts. It was about image and tourist positioning that representatives of the four major branches of Ukrainian Championship reported on during the panel discussion at the NSC. For example, while in Kyiv only the tourist concept of the city’s development is being fulfilled and the image program to the Euro is still at the stage of the best being selected, the city of lion, Lviv, has had a brand for 6 years – a logo and slogan “Lviv is open to the world”. According to the director of department for EURO 2012 in Lviv City Council Oleh Zasadny, Lviv’s brand will still work to improve the image of the city for Euro 2012. “But after the Championship it is appropriate to reformat it, as he says that “Lviv is already known in the world” or “Lviv is known to the world”, the Euro functionary sums up. The brands of Donetsk and Kharkiv are working on the image of their Euro cities. Graphic representation of an image concept of the capital of Don-

bass is a combination of contradictions. The logo, coal and roses, represents “strength and beauty”, which identify Donetsk as an industrial city which is attractive for living in. Local residents want to present it in this way to the guests of the football EURO. In its turn, the “first capital” presents itself for Euro 2012 as an intelligent and thorough city – «Smart City». Such brand positioning reflects its fundamental values and strategy. “Intelligent and thorough – these words describe Kharkiv residents and their approach to life in general, and particularly to science, education, commerce, architecture, art”, the image concept developed for European tournament states. cording to expert and director of the project “Consulting and creation of administrative capacities for Euro 2012”, GIZ Matthias Brandt, the important thing here is the perception by foreigners of Ukraine together with its logo – a sunflower – and slogans “Switch on Ukraine” and “High time to see Ukraine”. By participating in panel discussions, Matthias stressed that the coming tournament is not just a sports competition. “The power of football is such that it consolidates the representatives of various nations. This championship will be a festival of nations”, the German specialist stressed. Mr Brandt emphasized that the Euro is an opportunity for Ukraine to become a fully-fledged and reliable partner of the European Union. “The Championship is a chance in a thousand years for a big, beautiful and distinctive European cultural nation – Ukraine. The state should take full advantage of this chance to represent itself to the worldwide public in a qualitatively new positive light”, Matthias Brandt believes.

The foreigner’s opinion was also supported by well-known Ukrainian singer Ruslana. She believes that with preparations for the Championship Ukraine has changed in the eyes of Europe and even the whole world. “Every day brings us closer to the beginning of Euro 2012 – an event important for the continent and

the country not only in sports, but also in culture and society. Thanks to preparations for the tournament, we have a chance to unite youth movements, voluntary initiatives, educate good specialists, managers and marketers. For them Euro will become an extraordinary experience and start”, the winner of Eurovision emphasized. According to her, the future football championship is a ticket for Ukraine to a new life. And this ticket is already in our hands. “I am happy that I can contribute to such events and changes in our country. As a musician, singer, composer and producer I, for my part, will do my best to make the football stands sing and fans feel themselves of the game not only during matches but also during the entire championship”, the Ukrainian star confessed. In general all image experts were united in the belief that preparations for the championship and the period of Euro 2012 should be used to the maximum to improve the image of Ukraine. And in achieving this objective promoting the brand of the country in the world, the producing of promo videos, creating video stories and broadcasting them on leading European and international TV channels, etc. should all help. But most importantly, all these measures should be coordinated and combined into one integrated image concept of Ukraine for Euro 2012, according to which the host cities will also implement their measures. A reminder that the head of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has set a task to prepare the Christmas-New Year holidays in a fundamentally new level of quality. In particular, to have the city meet the new 2012 year – the year of EURO in Ukraine – with the whole community. To illuminate the Christmas tree they will use more than half a tonne of lighting equipment – garlands and decorations. The Christmas tree will shine in six different colours, and its top will for the first time be “dressed” in unique decoration by its creator.

Він підкреслив, що підготовка до Євро йде дуже добре. «Аеропорти, залізниця, автошляхи, готелі модернізуються, ремонтуються, а деякі будуються з нуля. Сім стадіонів з восьми уже готові. На Національному стадіоні у Варшаві перший матч зіграють 29 лютого. Турнір буде дуже успішним. Про це свідчить ажіотаж щодо квитків на матчі: на 500 тисяч перепусток, які вже були в продажу, надійшло понад 12 мільйонів заявок», – сказав футбольний функціонер.

He stressed that preparations for EURO are going very well. “Airports, railways, roads, hotels – are being upgraded, repaired, and some are built from scratch. Seven stadiums out of the eight are ready. They will hold the first match at the National Stadium in Warsaw on 29 February. The tournament will be very successful. У Києві Федерація футболу України та компанія Adidas представили нову форму національної збірної команди України з футболу сезону 2011/12, в якій команда виступить на Євро2012. Нове ексклюзивне екіпірування збірної України з футболу розроблене із застосуванням передових технологій та оригінального дизайну, що ввібрав у себе чоловічі символи-обереги нашого народу. Родзинкою футболки стала виділена на грудях широка смуга, обрамлена жовто-блакитним орнаментом, що імітує вишивання «хрестиком». Всередині смуги – малий герб України, а також візерунки у вигляді вишитого дубового листя – символу, що традиційно наносили на вишиванки чоловіків, які відправлялися захищати рідну землю. Кольори національного прапора також присутні на комірцевій канві футболки, окантовці шортів та логотипі Федерації футболу України. Ззаду, в зоні комірця, також розміщений державний герб та заклик-гасло «Україно, вперед!». Показати нову форму поціновувачам футболу вийшли члени української збірної Анатолій Тимощук, Артем Мілевський, Денис Гармаш, Сергій Назаренко, Олексій Гай, Андрій Ярмоленко, а також тренер національної команди Олег Блохін.

The Football Federation of Ukraine and the Adidas company presented in Kyiv the new team strip of the Ukrainian national football team for the 201112 season in which the team would play at Euro 2012. The new exclusive outfit has been designed with the use of advanced technologies and original style that has absorbed our national men’s charm symbols. A broad stripe marked out on the chest and framed with yellow-and-blue ornament imitating cross-stitch embroidery has become the stand-out thing of the football shirt. A small national emblem of Ukraine is inside the stripe, along with ornaments in the form of an embroidered oak leaf: the symbol traditionally placed on men’s embroidered shirts when they leave to defend their native land. The colours of the national flag are also present on the collar canvas of the football shirt, shorts mount and the logo of the Football Federation of Ukraine. The Ukrainian national emblem and motto “Forward, Ukraine!” are placed on the reverse side of the collar. The new strip was presented to football fans by Ukrainian national team members Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Artem Milevsky, Denys Harmash, Serhiy Nazarenko, Oleksiy Hay and Andriy Yarmolenko, along with national team coach Oleh Blokhin.

Such estimates, forecasts and expectations of the UEFA were voiced by the marketing director of the Union, Guy-Laurent Epstein, during a press conference in Kyiv. According to him, the television audience of Ukrainian-Polish EURO 2012 will be a record in the history of holding the continental championship. “In 2008 the matches of the Championship were watched by about 4.5 billion people. Our plans for next year are more ambitious and this figure will increase. We have put together a powerful information and TV platform and hope for a good result”, the football functionary said. Оголосивши господарями Бельгію та Голландію, генеральний секретар бельгійського футбольного союзу Ален Куртуа, президент УЄФА Ленард Юханссон і президент голландської федерації футболу Йєн Спренхерс закріпили угоду дзвоном бокалів з шампанським. Історичне рішення було не єдиним у порядку денному Виконкому. З розвитком і популяризацією гри у футбол йшли шалені кошти, боротьба за які почала викривати негативні супроводжувальні моменти. Так, розглядалося питання про підкупи марсельським «Олімпіком» арбітрів і низки гравців європейських команд. Нагадаємо, було підтверджено факт про договірний матч між марсельським клубом і «Валансьєном», після чого «Олімпік» відправили в другий дивізіон, а її президент і співвласник фірми «Адідас» Бернар Тапі кілька років мав провести за гратами. Згодом випливли махінації і на міжнародній арені. Навіть ставилася під сумнів перемога французького клубу в Лізі чемпіонів 1993 року. Під підозру потрапив бельгійський «Брюгге», але провину не довели, тож титул найкращої команди Європи в «Олімпіка» не відібрали. Виконком також порушив питання агресивної поведінки англійських вболівальників. 15 лютого 1995 року було зірвано товариський матч у Дубліні між збірними Ірландії та Англії. Тоді через неспроможність поліції навести лад на трибунах, гру зупинили на 27-й хвилині після її початку. Цікаво, що ці збірні між собою з тих пір жодного разу не зустрічалися. Втім, супутні питання не конкурували з головним, яке визначило країни-господарів 9-го чемпіонату Європи. Тут варто зробити екскурс в історію. Бельгія та Голландія могли вдвох прийняти фінальний турнір ще

1976 року. Таке б трапилося, якби Югославія вибула на чвертьфінальній стадії. Та спільна заявка залишилася незатребуваною. Зате 24 роки по тому країни Бенілюксу були єдиними охочими розмістити в себе учасників фіналу. Бельгія, до речі, фінал приймала вдруге. Перший раз це трапилося 1972 року.

Кількість учасників зростає

Традиційно зросла кількість учасників. Про участь у Євро-2000 заявила 51 національна асоціація, враховуючи звільнених від відбірних матчів господарів. Збільшення відбулося за рахунок Андорри, Югославії та Боснії-Герцеговини. Фінал забрала Голландія, тоді як Бельгії віддали матчвідкриття та два жеребкування – відбірного і фінального турнірів. Жеребкування кваліфікації відбулося в мальовничому Генті. Трансляція з «Конгрес-центру» йшла на 60 країн. Команди були розділені на 4 кошики по 9 збірних і один – з 13ти. Збірна України через невдалий виступ у попередньому турнірі потрапила лише до третьої категорії, тож у число фаворитів уже не входила. Втім, у компанії з Ірландією, Швейцарією, Швецією, Литвою, Словаччиною, Фінляндією, Ізраїлем та Грузією вважалася найбільш незручним суперником. Але користі від цього було мало. Адже уславлені Йохан Кройф та Поль Ван Хімст, які тягнули шари з назвами команд, відрядили нас у групу до діючого чемпіона світу – Франції. Туди ж потрапила й Росія, а разом з нею Вірменія, Ісландія та Андорра. Додамо, що збільшення кількості збірних-учасниць передбачала більшу кількість матчів, тож Франц Беккенбауер ще тоді запропонував провести відбір у два етапи. Таким чином скорочувалася кількість груп. який передбачав проведення спарених матчів, які б розділяли 3–4 дні. Так і вирішили, а кількість команд у групах залишилася звичною. Регламент також: переможці і краща друга команда виходять у фінал напряму, а вісім інших збірних, які зайняли другі місця, продовжували боротьбу в плей-офф, звідки до вирішального турніру виходили переможці пар.

Українська надія

Слід нагадати, що трохи більше десяти років тому київське «Динамо» било всіх у Європі без розбору. Злет команди збігся зі стартом у єврокампанії збірної, тож сподівання на вихід до фінальної частини були великі. Команду тоді очолював Йожеф Сабо, а роботою всіх збірних керував головний тренер «Динамо» Валерій Лобановський. Це було зроблено для того, щоб всі українські збірні готувалися за однією методикою. У національній же команді останнє слово залишалося за Сабо. Якщо подивитися статистику, то у тому відбірному турнірі лише чотири команди пройшли дистанцію без поразок. В унісон зі шведами, румунами та чехами виступили й українці, проте, на відміну від трійки щасливчиків, наша збірна зайняла лише друге місце. 52

Відбірний турнір почали просто блискуче. У неймовірному матчі на НСК «Олімпійський» була побита Росія на чолі з Анатолієм Бишовцем – 3:2. Далі – краще: 1998 рік закінчили перемогами над вірменами – 2:0 та Андоррою – 2:0. У березні наступного розійшлися миром на «Сен-Дені» з чемпіонами світу. Могли й виграти, але вихід сам на сам Шевченка з Бартезом п’ятою точкою зупинив Бартез. Тут, здавалося, нам і карти в руки, але доля приготувала сюрприз. В домашньому поєдинку проти Ісландії виснажені у Франції хлопці припустилися єдиної помилки: залишили на лінії штрафного одного Сігурдссона, який не без допомоги рикошету зумів зрівняти рахунок. Наступний удар під дихання зазнали в Єревані, де господарі 90 хвилин відбивалися як могли і врешті відстояли нульову нічию. Залишалося три зустрічі: з французами у Києві повторили рахунок, зафіксований у Франції, виграли в Ісландії і до вирішального матчу в Москві прийшли другими. Перемога виводила на перше місце будь-кого з суперників. Спочатку були ближчі росіяни, які відкрили рахунок, але українцям все-таки вдалося втекти від поразки. Багато хто пам’ятає феноменальний гол Шевченка і ляп Філімонова. Збірна витягнула дуже важкий матч. Жеребкування визначило нам в суперники збірну Словенії, яку, як багато хто вважав, могли закидати шапками. Все йшло за нашим сценарієм у першій грі: Шевченко лівою ногою обвідним ударом майстра екстра-класу відкрив рахунок, а потім трапилося щось неймовірне. Захович відновив рівновагу, а за кілька хвилин до фінального свистка «ляпнув» вже наш голкіпер. В простій ситуації Шовковський побіг до кутового прапорця за м’ячем, невдало вибив його в поле, де Ачимович майже від середньої лінії поля поцілив у порожні ворота. Не біда? Так усі думали. Тоді, нагадаємо, в Києві випало багато снігу, і довелося грати білим м’ячем. До голу довелося бігати майже 70 хвилин, поки Ребров не забив з 11-метрової. Але за кілька хвилин Павлін з кута штрафного поховав наші сподівання. Таким чином з нашої найсильнішої відбірної групи до фіналу пройшли лише французи.

Англія і Португалія, в чергу, шикуйсь!

Запекла боротьба також вийшла в групі А, де італійці, взявши стрімкий старт, ледве не втратили перше місце в заочній боротьбі з данцями. Також здивувала збірна Португалії, яка не змогла випередити румунів. Але більше за інших дісталося на горіхи англійцям. В досить посередній групі зі шведами та поляками вони лише дивом – за різницею забитих і пропущений м’ячів – випередили поляків і посіли з 13 очками (з 24 можливих) друге місце. На фінал англійці потрапили з плей-офф, де завдяки перемозі в Глазго (2:0) змогли вибити шотландців. Вдома англійці поступилися – 0:1. Втім, до фінального турніру вийшли всі, кого там очікували. На цьому «святі життя» не вистачало тільки української збірної.

Що з німцями?

Головною несподіванкою фінального турніру стала невиразна гра найсильнішої команди попереднього чемпіонату Європи. Німці потрапили в одну групу з англійцями, яким, до речі, і дозволили здобути єдину перемогу. Одне очко команда Еріха Ріббека взяла в грі з румунами – 1:1, зазнавши нищівної поразки від португальців – 0:3, які пройшли груповий раунд фінального турніру без втрат – 9 очок. Другою з 4 очками стала Румунія. У групі В знову здивували шведи. Але, на відміну від відбірного турніру, де трощили всіх підряд на чолі з англійцями, цього разу вони не знали, куди бігти. Відтак – 1 очко й останнє місце. А без втрат, хоч як не дивно, зіграла Італія. Далі з 4 очками – турки, треті – бельгійці (3). В групі С сенсація сталася вже на старті. Норвежці зуміли взяти гору над іспанцями (1:0), хоча в підсумку їм це не допомогло. Зате привело до тями підопічних Хосе-Антоніо Камачо. В двох зустрічах, що залишилися, вони, хоча й зі скрипом, змогли перемогти Словенію та Югославію. З останніми вийшов взагалі суперматч. Програючи 2:3, іспанці забили два голи на останніх секундах. У протоколі записано: Мендьєта (90, з пенальті), Альфонсо

(90). Підсумок – 4:3. Другими стали югослави з 4 очками, які випередили норвежців за рахунок різниці забитих і пропущених м’ячів. Словенці останні – 1 очко. У групі Д все вийшло, як передбачалося. З тією різницею, що перше місце посіла Голландія з 9 очками, а не Франція, яка поступилася помаранчевим в очній зустрічі – 2:3. Далі – Чехія, яка у відбірному турнірі виграла 10 матчів з 10, а замкнула квартет Данія з «бубликом» в активі.

Час співати Марсельєзу

Чвертьфінали вийшли не дуже цікавими. Лише в парі Іспанія – Франція переможець виграв з різницею в один м’яч (1:2). Врешті-решт все сталося, як прогнозувалося: Туреччина – Португалія – 0:2, Італія – Румунія – 2:0, Голландія – Югославія – 6:1. Зате півфінали дали таку напругу, що не в усіх витримували нерви. В першій грі між Францією і Португалією на 117 хвилині було вилучено Нуно Гомеша і Шав’єра, які не погодилися з призначенням 11-метрового. Гол Зідана з пенальті став «золотим». В іншому півфіналі нерви здали в обох команд. Спочатку в італійця Дзамброти, вилученого в першому таймі за два попередження, а згодом у голландців Франка де Бура та Клюйверта. Обидва під час гри не реалізували пенальті. Франк де Бур, до речі, схибив і в післяматчевій серії 11-метрових, а до фіналу (3:1 за пенальті) пройшла Італія. Фінал також вийшов з дивовижним сюжетом. Італія вела в рахунку до 4-ї доданої арбітром хвилини: Фріск саме на стільки подовжив основний час. Вільтор зумів відновити рівновагу, а на доданий час підопічних Діно Дзоффа вже не вистачило. Трезеге добив їх на 113-й хвилині. Знову «золотий гол» – 2:1. Франція стала першої збірною, якій вдалося після перемоги на чемпіонаті світу стати першою на континенті. Зізнаємося, цілком заслужено. Таким чином, минуле століття завершилося повним тріумфом французів, чий земляк, Анрі Делоне, свого часу започаткував турнір для європейських збірних.

he last championship of the last century was the first to be hosted by two countries. This decision was taken on 14 July 1995 by the UEFA Executive Committee in Geneva. Having announced that Belgium and Holland would be host countries, Secretary-General of the Belgian Football Association Alain Courtois, UEFA President Lennart Johansson and the President of the Netherlands Football Association, Jeu Sprengers, fixed the agreement with the clatter of champagne glasses. The historic decision was not the only one on the Executive Committee’s agenda. In the course of development and popularization of the game, immense sums have been invested in football, and fighting for them began the revelation of related negative aspects. For example, the issue of bribing referees from Olympique Marseille and of a number of European team players had been considered. Let us remind you that the fact of a fixed match between the team from Marseille and Valenciennes had been proved, and then Olympique was demoted to another division, and its president and co-owner of the Adidas company, Bernard Tapie, had to spend some years behind bars. Later on, fraud on the international arena were revealed. Even the French club’s victory in the 1993 Champions League was brought into question. Belgian club Brugge was suspected, but its guilt was not proved, and therefore the title of the best European team was not taken away from Olympique. The Executive Committee also raised the issue of the aggressive behavior of English fans at a friendly match between the Irish and English national teams was abandoned in Dublin on 15 February 1995. Then the game was stopped in the 27th minute after it began for the reason that the police were unable to restore order in the stands. It is interesting that these national teams have not played against each other since then. However, related issues did not compete with the major one that determined the hosts of the ninth European Championship. It is worth taking a trip to the history here. Belgium and Holland were able

to host the final tournament together back in 1976. That could have happened if Yugoslavia had left at the quarter-final stage. But the joint bid was left unclaimed. However, the Benelux countries were the only ones willing to host participants of the final 24 year later. By the way, Belgium was the host country for the second time. That happened for the first time in 1972.

Number of participants increases

The number of participants has traditionally increased. The number of national associations which applied to take part in Euro 2000 was 51, including the hosts exempted from the qualifying matches. The increase happened due to Andorra, Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The final was assumed by Holland, while Belgium got the opening match and held two draw: the ones for qualifying and the final tournament. The qualification draw was held in picturesque Ghent. The broadcast from the Congress Centre was transmitted to 60 countries. Teams were then divided into four baskets with nine national teams in each and one of 13 teams. Due to its unsuccessful performance in the previous tournament, Ukraine’s national team got only to the third category, and so was no longer among the favourites. However, it was regarded as the most uncomfortable rival in the company of Ireland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Finland, Israel and Georgia. But there was not much use of it: famous Johan Cruyff and Paul van Himst who pulled out the balls with the names of the teams on them assigned us to the same group with France, the then world champions and Russia, along with Armenia, Iceland and Andorra. Let us add that the increase in the number of participating national teams also envisaged an increase in the number of matches and, therefore, it was then that Franz Beckenbauer proposed to conduct qualification in two stages. aged conducting paired matches with an interval of three or four days. It was decided like that, and the number of teams in groups remained as usual. The rules of procedure also remained the same: the winners and the second best teams reached the final directly, while eight other national teams who came in second place continued the fight in the playoff, and the winners of the pairs were admitted to the final tournament.

It is worth reminding ourselves of the fact that Dynamo Kyiv used to defeat everyone in Europe indiscriminately some more than 10 years before. The team’s rise coincided with the start of the team’s Euro campaign, and therefore the expectations of reaching the final part were high. The team was then headed by József Szabó, and the operation of all national teams was coordinated by Dynamo chief coach Valeriy Lobanovsky. That had been done to make all Ukrainian national teams prepare in line with the same methodology. But Szabó had the last word in the national team. If we look at the statistics, there were only four teams that went the whole distance without defeats in the qualifying tournament. The Ukrainians played in unison with the Swedes, Romanians and Czechs, but unlike the three lucky ones, our national team gained just second position. They began the qualifying tournament brilliantly, indeed. Russia with Anatoliy Byshovets at its head was defeated 3:2 during an incredible match at the Olympic NSC. Then it was even better: they ended the year 1998 with victories over Armenia (2:0) and Andorra (2:0). Then they got a draw with the world champions in Saint-Denis in March next year. They even could have gained a victory, but Shevchenko’s one-on-one encounter with Barthez was stopped by Barthez’s behind. There was the impression that we had got a lucky chance, but the fate prepared a surprise. The players, exhausted by the game against the French, made just one mistake in the home match against Iceland: they left Sigurdsson alone on the penalty line, and he managed to equalize the score with the help of a deflection. They suffered the next hit below the belt in Yerevan where hosts

defeated themselves to their full capacity and finally secured a goalless draw. There were three matches left: they repeated in Kyiv the score that was in France, gained a victory over Iceland and reached the decisive match in Moscow in second position. Victory led any of the rivals to top spot in the group. Having opened the score, the Russians were initially closer, but the Ukrainians managed to avoid the defeat anyway. Many people remember Shevchenko’s extraordinary goal and Filimonov’s gaffe. The national team held out a very difficult match. Drawing designated Slovenian national team as our rival: many people believed that it could be a walkover for us. Everything was in line with our scenario during the first game: Shevchenko opened the score with his left foot, having made a bypass kick of an extra-class master, but then something incredible happened. Zahovič restored the balance, and then there was a “gaffe” a few minutes from time by our goalkeeper. In a simple situation, Shovkovsky rushed towards a corner flag for the ball, unsuccessfully kicked it out towards the middle of the field, and Ačimovič hit the empty goal almost from the central line of the field. No problems? Everyone thought this. Let us remind you that much snow had fallen in Kyiv for the second game, and the teams had to play with a yellow ball. They had to run about for almost 70 minutes before Rebrov took a shot from the 11-metre penalty line. But Pavlin buried our expectations from the corner of the penalty area some minutes later. Therefore, the French team was the only one in our strongest qualifying group to reach the finals.

There was also fierce fighting in Group A where the Italians, having taken a rapid start, were on the verge of losing the first position in ad absentia fighting with the Danes. The English team lost 0:1 at home though. However, the final was reached by everyone who was expected there. The Ukrainian national team was the only one missing at this “feast of life”.

What is wrong with the Germans?

The inexpressive play of the team that had been strongest in the previous European Championship became the main surprise of the final tournament. The Germans were in the same group as the English team and, by the way, the latter were the only ones whom they permitted to gain a sole victory. Erich Ribbeck’s team gained one point in a match against Romanians (1:1), having suffered a crashing defeat from the Portuguese team (0:3) which had passed the group round of the final tournament without losses: nine points. Romania was second with four points. Swedes astonished again in Group B. But, unlike the qualifying tournament where they crushed everyone indiscriminately, and the English team first of all, this time they did not know where to run. Therefore, they got one point and last spot. Surprisingly, Italy played without losses, followed by the Turks with four points and the Belgians with three. There was a sensation in Group C at the very beginning. The Norwegians managed to gain the upper hand over the Spaniards (1:0), but in the end it did not help them. However, they made José Antonio Camacho’s trainees come to their senses. Despite difficulties, they managed to defeat Slovenia and Yugoslavia in the two remaining matches. The match with the latter was superb, indeed. Losing 2:3, the Spaniards managed to score two goals in the last few seconds. It is written in the protocol: Mendieta (90, from penalty), Alfonso (90). The result was 4:3. Yugoslavs got second place with four points, having outstripped the Norwegians on goal difference. The Slovenians came last with one point. Everything developed as planned in Group D. The only difference was that Holland gained first position with nine

points instead of France, which succumbed to the orange team in a face-toface meeting: 2:3. They were followed by the Czech Republic, which had won in 10 matches out of 10 in the qualifying tournament, and Denmark turned out to be the last one among the four with a “fat zero” as its asset.

Time to sing Marseillaise

The quarter-finals turned out to be not very interesting. The Spain-France pair was the only tie where the winner gained a victory with a difference of one goal (1:2). Finally, everything happened as predicted: Turkey-Portugal – 0:2, Italy-Romania – 2:0, Holland-Yugoslavia – 6:1. However, the tension produced in the semi-finals was so high that not everybody’s nerves could stand it all. Nuno Gomes and Xavier were sent off the field in the 117th minute of the first game between France and Portugal for having disagreed with the award of a penalty kick. Zidane’s penalty goal became the “golden” one. The nerves of both teams went awry in the other semi-final. The first one to whom it happened was Zambrotta from Italy who was sent off the field for two yellows during the first half, followed by Frank de Boer and Kluivert from Holland. Both failed to score penalty kicks during the game. By the way, Frank de Boer also made a mistake in the postmatch series of penalty kicks, and Italy reached the final (3:1 on penalties). The final also turned out to have an interesting plot. Italy has ahead in the score until the fourth minute of injury time added by the referee: that was the exact time added by Frisk to regulation time. Wiltord managed to restore the balance, but Dino Zoff’s trainees were already exhausted during extra time. Trezeguet finished them off in the 113th minute. Another “golden goal”: 2:1. France became the first national team to manage to become the first one in the continent too after victory at the World Cup. Let us confess that it fully deserved this. So, the previous century ended with the ultimate triumph of the French, whose compatriot Henri Delaunay had earlier initiated the tournament for European national teams. We are situated at the 21st floor of the Parus Business center, where anyone can come to meet with us, but also in Kharkiv, Lviv and Dnepropetrovsk. Olexiy Gai was the first Ukrainian football player to open his blog, then he mastered Twitter, and now he communicates with virtual friends every day. His friends from social networks were the first ones to learn about the dishes offered by Yevhen Seleznyov on his birthday, how Gaytana’s clip was filmed. 1) Olexiy, what could you have become if there were no football? There was no alternative. My father brought me to the section when I was in the first form, and I have been playing ever since.

Правила життя Олега Блохіна Тренер Блохін, думаю, міг би ужитися з Блохінимгравцем. А футболіст з футболістом – навряд чи. Головне,

Коли був гравцем, не міг зрозуміти Лобановського як тренера. Змінивши професію, у чомусь розібрався, побачив деякі моменти, які мені, як колись йому, потрібно було донести до підопічних, хоча вони це сприймали «в штики». Додому я іноді приповзав: не міг зняти шапку, пальто, одягнутим засинав у кріслі.

Повернувся в Україну сформованим спеціалістом. Зрозумів, що в мене виходить, я можу! Багато моїх голів виглядали авантюрними. До сих

пір питають, як я їх забивав. Мабуть, щось відчував. Я буду тільки радіти, якщо гравець з моєї команди на таке наважиться. Але зараз, крім Ліонеля Мессі, котрий сміливо йде на чотирьох суперників, обіграє їх і забиває, таких гравців не бачу. Зараз у командах створені всі умови. Звичайно, вони потрібні. Але й фут-

болісти мають відпрацьовувати кошти, які їм платять. Свого часу ми

ночами влітку на базі комарів били, бо марля від вітру відривалася. Самі й форму прали. Виступати за національну збірну – велика честь. Тут не можна порушувати атмосферу. «Вольниця» псує мікро-

Іспанське прізвище німецького голеадора пояснюється просто. Його батько Хосе Гомес в пошуках роботи переїхав до Німеччини після війни у 14-річному віці. Працював в оранжереї, де й познайомився з місцевою кралею на ім’я Торкуата. У них народилися троє дітей, згодом з’явилися й онуки. Коли Маріо виповнилося 15 років, вони з сім’єю відвідали родину батька в Гранаді. Клімат півдня сподобався більше, і в певний момент родина розмірковувала, чи не варто переїхати до Іспанії назавжди. His father Jose Gómez moved to Germany is search of a job after the war at the age of 14. He worked in a greenhouse where he made acquaintance with a local beauty whose name was Torquata. Three children were born to them, and then they got grandchildren. When Mario was 15, his family and he visited his father’s home city of Granada. They preferred the southern climate, and the family though at certain moment whether it would be worth moving to Spain for good. But news came at that moment that Mario, who had a robust shape, had been invited to the junior German national team. The father who had once brought the future “star“ to the sports section decided that it would be better for his son to master football universities in Germany. Mario Gómez recalls: “I always liked to busy myself with the ball. I had a large room at home, and when the weather was bad, we played football in it. We removed furniture and installed an improvised goal. We mainly used a table for this… But when my father brought me to the football school, my relations with him changed. He wanted to give me everything. We constantly analyzed games with him and thought what the right way in this or that moment would be. I think my success is his merit.”

He has got good technique, poses a threat to goal from any positions because he plays equally well with both feet and head. Stuttgart academy

Mario Gómez has passed through all age groups of German national teams. In overall terms, before getting to the national team he took part in over 60 matches for them. However, he was not effective enough at the beginning. For example, he scored only five goals in 14 matches for the youth national team for those under 17 years of age. There was not a single goal at all in the subsequent year. Nevertheless, the boy was persistently guided along the path. Mario was born in Riedlingen, Upper Swabia. He played at the tournament of Baden-Württemberg federal land, and then for children’s team in Ulm. He was found there by coaches from the Stuttgart academy: it was the major club in the region. Gómez played for Bundesliga youth team for almost three years, and he should be grateful to Felix Magath for the chance granted to him to make a debut at high level. This coach is famous not only for his success, but also for very tough discipline and fanatical approach to functional training. The school he had passed with this specialist will later on enable him to join the training process in Bayern without any difficulties. But at that time 19-yearold Gómez was thrown into action against Chelsea in the Champions League playoff. Then the team from Swabia lost 0:1 in London, and Mario spent 10 minutes in the field (in is interesting to know that Gómez’s present-day partners in the national team, Cacau and Philipp Lahm, then played for Stuttgart). Furthermore, his debut in Bundesliga took place on 8 May, but the forward spent the main share of the season in the regional league, scoring goals for the youth team. He had to wait a year for a new chance. Kurányi, whose job he will get later on in the national team as well, moved to Schalke, and Gómez successfully began getting the feel of the football field. He scored eight goals in all tournaments during the first season, and then 16, 28 and 35. Real progress, isn’t it?

It should be also added that Gómez was recognized the best Bundesliga player during the second season for his play at Stuttgart. He added some 10 scoring assists to his 16 goals, and therefore a persistent hunt for the forward began.

Bundesliga record

The figure “35” is quite symbolic. It is not known whether there was mention of it during the negotiations between Stuttgart and Bayern, but it was the exact sum of compensation for the forward in millions of Euros. The team from Munich initially offered substantially less. Negotiations took place with great difficulty, and the sides decided to postpone them for a year. Everything developed according to Bayern’s plan: regularly scoring for the club, Gómez, was lost in the national team. Mario understood that it was necessary to change his life, and this is why he considered alternative offers even from far-away foreign countries. Chelsea, Juventus and Barcelona wished to see him in their ranks during certain periods, but sums of immense compensation intimidated potential buyers. Gómez was lucky because Van Gaal, the Munich team’s supervisor, acted very persistently. Gradually removing Olić from the team, the Dutchman made his choice in favour of the Spanish German, and he seemed to have hit the bull’s eye. No-one had been transferred from one Bundesliga club to another for 35 million Euros, but no-one has distinguished himself with such effectiveness since Gerd Müller’s time. By the way, the legendary forward from the German national team has already made his forecast about Gómez’s future. According to Müller, Super-Mario, as the Bayern player is nicknamed, will improve his record of 40 goals as early as this season. His score is presently 13 effective kicks in 10 Bundesliga matches. And Gómez’s play in the national team has also improved since his transfer to Bayern: he wins in the battle with Miroslav Klose more frequently. Mario and his bride Silvia encountered this house quite accidentally, as they got interested in the history of the empty building. The couple’s choice was somewhat surprising, as everyone knows that the football player believes in superstitions, while many events that might have influenced the place could have happened in the building over the course of three centuries. However, Mario says that habits are related only to things connected to football. “It is difficult to calculate everything in life, but some things in football help me to concentrate on playing. I always step out to the field with my left foot, and I put on the first shin guard on my left leg as well. Besides this, I have never given my number 33 to anyone. I wanted “nine”, but it had been already taken. So I had to take “double three”. And one more interesting detail: Gómez practically never sings the anthem before the national team’s matches. He does not reveal the reasons, but people noticed that this kind of behaviour was peculiar to him since the time when he played for youth teams. Тож все, що стосується київського «Динамо» і збірної України, сприймаю близько до серця. На жаль, футболісти останнім часом дають мало приводів для радості. І справа не тільки в результатах. З наших футбольних полів (маю на увазі насамперед ігри чемпіонату України) майже зникла ота самопожертва, готовність змагатися до останнього, без яких футбол втрачає свою душу. Бо вболівальник може пробачити улюбленій команді все – недостатню майстерність, тактичні помилки, навіть гол у власні ворота, але не відсутність бажання боротися. Звання «Друг Євро» накладає на Вас якісь конкретні обов’язки? Сприяти позитивному іміджу України – ось, як на мене, головне завдання всіх Друзів Євро, офіційних і неофіційних. На підготовку до чемпіонату затрачено величезні кошти. Тому надзвичайно важливо, щоб все побудоване після закінчення чемпіонату продовжувало служити суспільству. Зокрема дуже хочеться, щоб на повну силу функціонували новозведені і реконструйовані стадіони. Щоб не тільки професійні команди, але й вихованці дитячо-юнацьких спортивних шкіл мали змогу хоча б іноді виходити на ці прекрасні поля. Я, до речі, абсолютно впевнений, що майбутнє вітчизняного футболу залежить не від натуралізованих українців з Балканських країн, Африки чи ще звідкілясь, а від отих малих Сергіїв, Василів, Сашків, котрі сьогодні підростають в українських містах і селах, марять футболом і ладні перетворити на футбольний майданчик кожну галявину чи пустир. Матчі чемпіонату дивитимитеся по телевізору чи безпосередньо на стадіоні?

Похід на стадіон планую. Але зловживати правом на запрошення не буду – сам куплю квиток. Адже це єдиний спосіб, яким вболівальник може фінансово підтримати розвиток футболу. Мрію про ті часи, коли на наших стадіонах аншлаги будуть не лише під час важливих міжнародних матчів, але й на іграх внутрішнього чемпіонату. Так, як це було раніше. До слова, у нас в театрі імені Франка сьогодні практично на кожній виставі – аншлаг. А от на наших стадіонах трибуни напівпорожні. І це ще один доказ того, що український футбол потребує докорінних змін. Зокрема треба щось робити із засиллям легіонерів. Але це тема для окремої розмови. Що Ви побажаєте українським футболістам, котрі захищатимуть честь національної збірної на домашньому чемпіонаті Європи? Насамперед у мене є побажання для головного тренера збірної. Ми всі дуже сподіваємося, що ота щаслива зірка, яка освітлює тренерський шлях Олега Блохіна, не зрадить йому і цього разу. Фортуна, як відомо, пані вередлива: посміхається вона лише тим, хто заслуговує на її прихильність. А Олег Блохін – людина, безумовно, дуже талановита... Також дуже важливо, щоб в команді знайшлося хоча б декілька гравців, які не бояться брати гру на себе. Сучасний футбол дуже раціональний: є чіткі схеми, і вони іноді «засушують» гру. Перемогти суперника, особливо якщо він має відчутну перевагу в класі, за допомогою самої тактики, практично неможливо. Потрібна відвага, ота самопожертва, про яку йшлося вище. І обов’язково – бажання творити на полі, імпровізувати, бо що то за футбол без імпровізації?! Таке ж нудне видовище, як і театр, у якому актор навіть дихнути боїться інакше, ніж сказав режисер... І хоча перемагає завжди команда, але роблять гру індивідуальності. Окрім моменту імпровізації, що ще, на Ваш погляд, є спільного між футболом і мистецтвом драматичного театру? Очікування глядачів в залі і на трибуні. Якщо вистава гарна і актори на рівні, то глядач всім єством занурюється в атмосферу дійства на сцені. Теж саме відбувається з вболівальником на стадіоні чи перед екраном телебачення. Коли футболісти дійсно 78

змагаються, повністю віддаються боротьбі, ти забуваєш про все на світі. Ти весь там – на полі. Тому я й кажу, що, з одного боку, футбол – це забава, а з іншого – щось дуже значне, велике, справжнє... До речі, мені розказували, що в радянський час футболісти київського «Динамо», граючи у Ленінграді, часто відвідували тамтешні театри, зокрема знаменитий БДТ імені Товстоногова. І адміністрація театру, знаючи про це, спеціально подовжувала антракт до 45 хвилин, аби футболісти в перерві встигли з’їздити на вечерю... В радянському телевізійно-спортивному просторі було таке самобутнє явище, як коментатори-актори. Маю на увазі насамперед Миколу Озерова і Коте Махарадзе. А Вам ніколи не хотілося спробувати себе в ролі футбольного коментатора? Озеров і Махарадзе увійшли в історію футболу – це факт. Проте не забуваймо, що футболу на екрані тоді було в рази менше, ніж зараз. Показували найцікавіші ігри чемпіонату і Кубку СРСР, а з міжнародних – лише ті, в яких грали радянські команди. Ніяких тобі чемпіонатів Італії, Англії, Німеччини. Сьогодні ж робота коментатора вимагає набагато більшого занурення у футбол. Треба тримати в голові силу-силенну подій, імен, статистичних даних. Це досить серйозна робота, якою не можна займатися «між іншим». Одна справа – допомагати коментувати, як це робить багато хто з

тренерів і гравців. І зовсім інша – бути коментатором постійно... До того ж, я, як вже казав, надто болісно сприймаю все, що відбувається в українському футболі, тому навряд чи зміг би бути безпристрасним. І ще одне «історичне» запитання. Як Ви думаєте, чому з усіх видів спорту саме футбол став грою №1 (принаймні, на більшій частині Земної кулі)? Я думаю, все пояснюється демократичністю футбольних правил. У футбол можна грати де завгодно і чим завгодно, навіть бляшанкою від консерви. Поклав дві цеглини – і маєш ворота. Можна грати в будь-яку погоду, і босоніж, і у валянках. Особистий футбольний досвід, котрий є практично у кожного дорослого чоловіка, очевидно, й притягує нас до екранів телевізорів і кличе на стадіони... Коли я був малим, то в моєму рідному селі на Івано-Франківщині навіть поля нормального не було. Грали на похилій галявині, тому тайм зазвичай закінчувався на користь команди, чиї ворота стояли трохи вище. Але яка боротьба точилася на тій галявині, які пристрасті вирували! Кажуть, Ви й тепер, у 50 з «хвостиком», не відмовляєте собі в задоволенні поганяти футбольного м’яча… Як же без цього?! Он влітку грав з такими ж дядьками, як сам. People’s Artist of Ukraine Bohdan Benyuk joined the official list of Friends of Euro 2012 some months ago. But Mr Benyuk is on friendly terms with football almost since birth. I think it will be interesting for our readers to look at the “game of millions” through the eyes of the “best Ukrainian vejk”.

r Benyuk, what is football for you? Is it just entertainment or something much more important? Let me tell you the following way: it is entertainment, leisure and serious business together. I am a fan having very long experience. Therefore, I take everything related to Dynamo Kyiv and the Ukrainian national team to heart. Unfortunately, football players give few occasions for being glad during the recent period. But the point is not only in results. The selfsacrifice and the readiness to fight till the end without which football loses its soul have almost completely disappeared from our football field (I primarily imply games of the Ukrainian Championship). The reason is that a fan may forgive everything to his favourite team: insufficient proficiency, tactical mistakes and even a goal scored to their own team, but not absence of willingness to fight. Does the title Friend of Euro impose any specific obligations on you? The task of all Friends of Euro, both official and unofficial ones, is to promote Ukraine’s positive image. Immense funds have been spent for preparations for the championship. This is why it is very important to make everything that had been built further serve society after the end of the championship. In particular, I wish all newly built and reconstructed stadiums could operate to full capacity. I wish not only professional teams, but also trainees of children’s and youth sports schools could be able to go out to these wonderful fields at least sometimes. By the way, I am absolutely convinced that the future of national football depends not on naturalized Ukrainians from the Balkan states, Africa or some other places, but on small boys named Serhiy, Vasyl or Sashko who presently grow up in Ukrainian cities and villages, dream about football and are ready to make a football field out of any clearing or vacant lot. Will you watch matches of the championship on TV or in the stadium itself? I plan to come to the stadium. But I shall not abuse the right to an invitation: I shall buy a ticket myself, as this is the

only way a fan can provide financial support to development of football. I dream about the times when our stadiums are fully sold out not only at important international matches, but also at the games of the national championship: the way it used to be previously. By the way, tickets are fully sold out at our performances in the Franko Theatre nowadays. But the stands in our stadiums are halfempty. This is more proof that Ukrainian football requires drastic changes. In particular, something should be done with regard to legionaries’ dominance. But this is the theme for a special discussion. What would you like to wish the Ukrainian football players who will defend the honour of the national team during the home European Championship? First of all, I have a wish to the chief coach of the national team. All of us cherish hopes that the lucky star shining over Oleh Blokhin’s route as a coach will not betray him this time either. Fortune is known to be a fastidious lady, but she smiles only to those who deserve her benevolence. Undoubtedly, Oleh Blokhin is a very talented person… It is also very important to find at least some players in the team who will not be afraid to assume playing on their own. Present-day football is very rational: there are tough schemes, and sometimes they make playing dry. It is practically impossible to gain a victory over a rival, especially if he has a tangible advantage in class, with the help of tactics alone. Courage and the aforementioned self-sacrifice are needed. Of course, willingness to be creators in the field and to improvise is needed: otherwise, what kind of football will it be without improvisation? This is the same tiresome spectacle as the theatre when an actor is afraid even to breathe other than the director had said… One plays the same role with some differences each time in theatre. As regards football, moreover: two similar playing situations do not happen. Each pass, lobbed ball and appearance at goal is unique. Though the team is always the one to win, but the game is played by individuals.

In addition to the aspect of improvisation, what, in your opinion, do football and the art of drama theatre have in common? These are spectators’ expectations in the hall and on the stands. If the performance is nice and actors are at proper level, then spectators are absorbed in the atmosphere of stage action with all their essence. The same happens to fans in the stadium or before TV screen. When football players really compete and fully dedicate themselves to fighting, you forget everything on earth. You are there, in the field. This is why I say that, on the one hand, football is entertainment, but on the other hand, it is something very significant, great and true… By the way, I have been told that when Dynamo Kyiv footballers played in Leningrad back in Soviet times, they frequently visited local theatres, and the famous Tovstonogov’s BDT (Big Drama Theatre) in particular. Being aware of this, the theatre administration intentionally prolonged the interval to 45 minutes to enable football players to go for dinner during the intermission… There was a unique phenomenon of sportscaster actors in the sports space on Soviet TV. First and foremost, I have in mind Nikolay Ozerov and Kote Makharadze. Did you ever wish to try yourself in the role of a football sportscaster? Ozerov and Makharadze have gone down in football history, and this is a fact. However, let us not forget that there

was many times less football on screens at that time than now. The most interesting games of the USSR Championship and Cup were shown, and as regards international ones, they were the ones in which Soviet teams played. There was no kind of Italian, English or German championships. The work of a sportscaster today requires much more profound penetration in football. It is necessary to keep a lot of events, names and statistics in mind. This work is quite serious, and one may not do it “among other things”. Assistance in making comments the way many coaches and players do is one thing. But being a permanent sportscaster is completely different. Besides this, as I have already told you, I accept all developments in Ukrainian football extremely painfully, and therefore I could hardly have been impartial. Here is one more “historical” question. Why, in your opinion, has namely football become “game number one” among all the types of sports (at least on most of the Earth)? I think everything can be explained with democracy of football rules. It is possible to play football anywhere and with anything, even with a can. You put two bricks, and you have the goal. It is possible to play in any weather, either barefoot or wearing felt boots. Practically every grown-up man has got personal football experience, and it obviously attracts us to TV screens and invites to

We played in a steep clearing, and therefore each half ended in favour of the team whose goal was somewhat higher. But what kind of fighting was there in that clearing, what passions boiled up! Being more than 50 years of age, you reportedly do not reject the pleasure of kicking a football around… How can it be without this?! I played with men of the same age as me in summer. к стверджують вчені, 250 мільйонів років тому на території сучасного міста Соледара було мілководне море. Час і сонце висушили його, а сіль, що містилася в морській воді, осіла на поверхні. Пройшли тисячоліття, і соляні поклади опинилися під товстим шаром ґрунту... Очевидно, добуванням солі шляхом випарювання з ропи солоних озер в тамтешніх краях люди займалися з давніх-давен. Проте широке промислове видобування солі на Донбасі розпочалося в 19 столітті. Сьогодні державне підприємство «Артемсіль» забезпечує продукцією не лише всю Україну, але й імпортує її в держави СНД та Східної Європи. Артемівські соляні копальні вважаються унікальними як за своїми запасами (на думку експертів, солі в родовищі вистачить на 2 000 років), так і за якістю продукції: сіль практично не містить домішок, після рубки комбайном її можна одразу, без додаткового очищення, запаковувати і відправляти до магазинів.

В давні часи головними постачальниками солі в Україні були чумаки – так називали людей, котрі займалися торговельно-візницьким промислом. Найчастіше пунктом призначення чумацької валки був Крим. Відтоді в українській мові з’явилася ідіома «в Крим по сіль».

Відпрацьовані соляні копальні використовують як лікувальні і туристичні об’єкти. Спелеосанаторій «Соляна симфонія» діє з 2007 року. Його пацієнти мають змогу щоденно опускатися під землю на кілька годин. А дехто залишається і на всю ніч. Дихання насиченим сіллю повітрям є ефективним при лікуванні бронхолегеневих хвороб, захворюваннях шкіри, щитовидної залози тощо. Втім, щоб відчути лікувальні властивості клімату соляних копалень, необов’язково бути пацієнтом санаторію. Терапевтичний ефект проявляється навіть після півторагодинного перебування в підземному музеї. Екскурсіям у відпрацьовану соляну копальню обов’язково передує інструктаж з техніки безпеки. Кожен отримує шахтарську каску. Під землю екскурсанти опускаються в ліфті-клітці, як це роблять справжні шахтарі. І от ви на глибині майже 300 метрів. Навкруги – суцільна сіль! Під ногами, над головою, зліва і справа! Оглядаючись на всі боки, починаєш розуміти, чому сіль називається кам’яною: візуально соляна копальня нагадує кам’яну печеру. Маршрут екскурсії проходить освітленими тунелями і залами, що утворилися після того, як людина комбайном дістала з-під землі тисячі тонн солі.

Про те, що люди з давніх-давен надавали солі особливого значення, свідчать численні прислів’я, приказки, обряди і забобони. У багатьох народів, зокрема у слов’ян, хліб-сіль вважається символом гостинності. Про сакральність солі свідчить і вислів «сіль землі» – тобто, головне, найважливіше, істинне. Ще кілька століть тому сіль була дуже дорогою і використовувалася як валюта. Податок на сіль, як відомо, став одним з факторів, що спричинив Французьку революцію. «Соляні бунти» були і в історії Росії... І хоча сьогодні сіль коштує копійки, та й лікарі радять обме жувати її вживання в їжу, хлористий натрій, як і раніше, грає виняткову роль в житті людини. І так буде завжди, адже сіль входить до кожної клітинки нашого організму. І кров людська також солона на смак...

Trip to kingdom of salt There are not so many people even in Ukraine who know the small town Soledar not far from Artemivsk in Donetsk Region. However, local products are present absolutely in each Ukrainian home. It concerns ordinary rock salt, and its underground deposits in Soledar are the largest in Europe. Besides this, a unique speleological sanatorium and the Salt Industry Museum located underground at a depth of 300 meters operate in this town. UKRAINE 2012 87

cientists assert that there was a shallow-water sea on the territory of present-day town of Soledar 250 million years ago. Time and sun have dried it, and the salt from the sea water accumulated on the surface. Millennia have passed, and salt deposits turned out to be under a thick layer of soil… It is obvious that people in this area have been extracting salt by way of evaporation from the brine of salt lakes since ancient times. However, large-scale salt extraction in Donbass began in the 19th century. The Artemsil state enterprise presently supplies its product not only to all Ukraine, but also imports them to CIS and Eastern Europe countries. Salt mines in Artemivsk are considered to be unique both in terms of their reserves (in the view of experts, the stock of salt in the deposit will be enough for 2,000 years) and product quality: the salt contains actually no admixtures, and it can be packed and sent to shops immediately after cutting with a combine without any additional purification.

The main salt suppliers in Ukraine in ancient times were chumaks, who travelled the country with their wares: this was the name of the people engaged in trade and transportation business. Most frequently, Crimea was the destination of chumak expeditions. Since that time, an idiom “to Crimea for salt” appeared in the Ukrainian language. 88

Used salt mines are used as medical and tourist objects. The Solyana Symfoniya (Salt Symphony) speleological sanatorium has been operating since 2007. Its patients can descend underground for some hours every day. Some of them stay there overnight. Breathing the air saturated with salt is efficient for treatment of bronchial and lung diseases, diseases of skin and thyroid gland and others. However, it is not obligatory to be a patient of the sanatorium to experience curative qualities of the salt mines’ climate. The therapeutic effect is revealed even after 1.5-hour-long stay in the underground museum. Excursions to the used salt mines are obligatorily preceded by instructions on prevention of accidents. Everyone gets a mining helmet. Sightseers descend underground in a cage lift the way real miners do. So, you are already at the depth of 300 metres. There is only salt around! It is under your feet, above your head, on your left and on your right! When you look around in all directions, you come to understand why salt is named rock: the salt mine visually resembles a rocky cave. The excursion route passes through lit tunnels and halls formed after extraction of many thousand tonnes of salt by people from underground with the use of plants.

The size of some halls just impresses. For example, the length of the largest hall is 135 meters, its width is 17 metres and height is 24 meters. Symphony music festivals Salt Symphony are being conducted namely in this hall. The first concert of his kind was conducted in 2004 at the initiative of… the Austrian Embassy to Ukraine. In the opinion of conductor Kurt Schmid who directed the performance of the Donetsk Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, there are just two or three theatres in the world which can compete with acoustics of this salt hall… Walls of the mine have been decorated with sculptures and bas-reliefs in many places: they had been made by both coal miners working here and professional artists. There is even a salt copy of the famous Mertsalov Palm which is one of the symbols of Donbass. The gallery of the images of saints carved in the wall makes unforgettable impression at visitors. (By the way, there is an underground church in Soledar, and services are regularly held there.) The walls of tunnels and halls are decorated with multi-colour lighting along the

whole excursion route. Light reflects in salt crystals and creates an illusion of wonderful and unique underground kingdom. Even grown-up people get an impression that they find themselves in a fairy tale. A fairy-tale tour is accompanied by narration from a guide: about the importance of salt in human life, peculiarities of its industrial extraction and about different interesting things related to NaCl. Underground sightseers also have an opportunity to see a film about the history of salt extraction in Donbass, to see paintings (exhibitions of modern artists’ works are organized in the mine now

wishes may walk barefoot on the salt floor: unforgettable impressions and relaxation are guaranteed! Many visitors of the museum whose noses had caught a chill and sniffled before the excursion are pleased to notice after ascending to the surface that their rhinitis disappeared as if by magic. Even healthy people also notice substantial improvement in their general condition after visiting the salt kingdom. This is not surprising, as people are aware of the therapeutic and tonic effect of salt since ancient times.

Numerous proverbs, sayings, rites and prejudices testify to the effect that people have attached special importance to salt since ancient times. Many nations, and Slavs in particular, consider bread and salt to be a symbol of hospitality. The phrase “the salt of the earth” which means something most important, significant and true, is a proof of sacral nature of salt. Salt was very expensive and was used as currency back some centuries ago. The salt tax is known to have become one of the factors which led to the French Revolution.
