• Make regular preventive maintenance easy by asking your HVAC company if they offer maintenance programs. These plans usually include two maintenance appointments per year plus perks like reduced or waived dispatch fees.
• The right HVAC system size is key to efficiency. A too-small system won’t do a good job controlling
the temperature of the house. A system that is too large will cycle on and off frequently. Your contractor should use the Manual J formula to make sure your HVAC system is the right size.

• Drain clogs are typically caused by food, hair, foreign objects, and grease. To avoid clogs, use drain strainers to catch the majority of debris. Do not dispose of grease in drains. Be wary of a company selling doorto-door. Reputable contractors rely more on referrals than door-to-door sales.
Resist high-pressure sales. A company that tries to rush you into a decision may not want to be researched too thoroughly.
