Louis DeJoy will deliver remarks centered around the Delivering for America plan, a blueprint for putting the Postal Service on a positive trajectory with new opportunities for the shipping industry. The Postmaster General will update attendees on the progress to dramatically improve on-time delivery, the road to USPS financial sustainability and the multitude of strategies underway to change and improve the delivery network of the Service. This engaging talk will showcase some of the organization’s highlights over the past two years and the upcoming priorities to position the Postal Service well for the important fall peak season. The Sumner County campus is Gap Inc.’s largest distribution campus, encompassing more than 3.5 million square feet. Gap Inc. is also opening its doors to a recently renovated omni-channel distribution center servicing national distribution for Banana Republic and Athleta brands. You’ll see how they run Vargo’s “COFE” software, a waveless, single-order system that uses a EuroSort Bombay sorter and a lighted put-wall for final sorting to the customer, as well as Kindred’s SORT automation for machine-learned online picking. Recently, the site has added automation to the returns space and has been an early adopter of Boston Dynamic’s new Stretch robot, automating the unloading process. You’ll also tour their 1.2 million square-foot retail distribution center that services the central United States for Old Navy and runs both cranes and multi-shuttles to eliminate 100% of all manual pick activity.
