Electric Vehicles Management for Carbon Neutrality in Europe
Horizon Europe—funded project under Grant Agreement no. 101056765 Vehicle—to-everything (V2X) strategies are essential for electric vehicle (EV) widespread adoption, enabling data exchanges between EVs and energy systems, optimising charging during periods of low energy demand or high renewable energy production, allowing EVs to be energy storage units, facilitating the integration of renewable energies, and providing grid support services. Thus V2X contributes to a more sustainable and resilient economy and society.
The EV4EU project aims to develop and implement user-centric V2X management strategies to boost the use of EVs in Europe for a more sustainable mobility.
Editorial
DR. HUGO MORAIS IS A SENIOR RESEARCHER AT INESC ID AND AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR AT INSTITUTO SUPERIOR TÉCNICO It gives me great pleasure to witness the developments of the EV4EU project, making significant contributions to the future of emobility and societal needs, thanks to the dedicated efforts and motivation of all EV4EU partners. As we wrap up Month 18, we have completed 20 tasks , submitted 25 deliverables, of which 15 have already been approved, published 18 scientific articles, including conference (10) and journal (8) papers, and 8 students have presented their bachelor/master dissertations.
During the last 18 months, EV4EU has successfully achieved significant milestones, identifying Business Models and Use Cases to be used in the demonstration sites, developing algorithms to be used by Charging Point Operators, Virtual Power Plants and Distribution System Operators to manage flexibility services provided by V2X, and creating a cost-effective V2X station prototype that will be used in the Portuguese demonstrator. All DEMO activities are in preparation and more developments will follow soon. EV4EU consortium is not only working hard in developing V2X innovative solutions but also actively engaging with other projects, initiatives, and stakeholders, to overcome the main barriers and challenges of the future of e-mobility and V2X technology.

Welcome to the third Newsletter of the EV4EU project! The EV4EU project involves a consortium of 16 beneficiary partners (+ 6 associated partners) from 4 European countries: Denmark, Greece, Portugal, and Slovenia. There are demonstration sites installed in all four countries to test the V2X management strategies and tools that will be developed within the project. The project has successfully concluded 18 months of activities. The third EV4EU Newsletter highlights the EV4EU deliverables, events, workshops and scientific articles developed from June to November 2023. EV4EU Newsletters will be published every six months presenting the activities of the consortium. Subscribe to our newsletter HERE.
