This month, we had the opportunity to interview Tim St. Clair, the builder/ owner at Lake Point Homes. Lake Point Homes has been building homes in Tellico Village and the surrounding areas for 18 years. They not only build quality new stock or true custom homes, but they have recently expanded into exterior and interior home remodeling and renovations.
MV: Tell us a little about yourself and Lake Point Homes.
Tim: Glad to! I graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Construction Management and then spent several years working for other builders, learning construction from the ground up. I then started my own home building business in 1995. As a young man, I always had a passion for hands-on work, and a desire for independence. I really enjoy all aspects of construction work - from beginning to end. I’ve always taken pride in my work. Starting a home construction business gave me the opportunity to build a top-quality product and grow a professional business that gives me - and our customers - pride and satisfaction. I’ve
built hundreds of single and multi-family homes in Pennsylvania and East Tennessee over the past 30 years. I pride myself on great communication, quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. My son, Zach, is a US Navy veteran attending college for civil engineering.
In my free time, I practice martial arts, currently holding the rank of 2nd degree blackbelt. My wife, Suzanna, and I live in West Knoxville and enjoy spending our weekends boating on Fort Loudon Lake and riding through the East Tennessee mountains on our Harley.
MV: Tell us a little about how you “do business” – or your business philosophy.
Tim: At Lake Point Homes, we believe that each home or project we take on is much more than simply pieces and parts crafted together. It is a physical result of our customers’ years of dreaming, planning and saving. That’s why Lake Point Homes is always striving for excellence
Tim - We want to thank you for the fantastic house you and your team created for us. Also, thanks for putting up with all my texts, emails and phone calls.
- Dan & Debra
Dear Tim, Heather & Eddie - Ya'll are always so busy when we see you, talking business .... I want you to know how much I appreciate the temporary mailbox you loaned us! Means a great deal to me. I absolutely love our new home and thank you for all the hard work you put into it.
- Sue & Doug
and customer satisfaction in everything we do. I work directly with our customers through the entire remodeling project or the construction of a new custom-built home. No middlemen are ever involved! Lake Point Homes is a financially sound company. We have an excellent working relationship and are in good standing with the TN Builder’s Licensing Board, all area homeowners’ associations, and all area banks. What sets us apart from other builders, contractors and remodelers is our level of attention to detail from start to finish.
Dear Tim - We can never thank you enough for all you have done for us as a builder and as a friend. Talk soon
- Jan & Dennis
MV: Up until recently, Lake Point Homes was exclusively a home builder. What led you into expanding into renovations and remodeling?
Tim: Over the years, Lake Point Homes has received many requests to do home remodeling. Because of this increasing demand, we’ve decided to expand our building services to now include interior and exterior home remodeling. Home renovation projects that we handle include home additions, kitchens, bathrooms and ADA bathrooms, laundry rooms, finished basements, screen rooms, patios and decks, bonus rooms, sunrooms, new roofs, vinyl siding, Hardie siding upgrades, garage finishing and additions, soffit, fascia, gutters and downspouts, railings, exterior trim and exterior stonework, and the list goes on!
We know that most people would prefer to work with an honest and experienced local builder like Lake Point Homes. We are known for quality, professionalism, communication and superb customer satisfaction. Expanding our services makes good business sense and answers the needs of many local homeowners.
MV: You do have a reputation for quality built new homes. How do you maintain quality in your remodels?
Tim: We use the same quality standards and professional subcontractors for all our remodeling projects that we use in all our new custom home builds. Each phase of construction within a remodeling project is carefully planned, scheduled, and done by seasoned experts who are highly skilled in their trades. We personally supervise each project on-site daily and communicate progress with our clients.
June ushers in the good old summertime! As a child growing up in Northern California, June meant the beginning of summer vacation and three months of freedom! Soon after school got out, we’d load up the trailer, hitch up the boat, and depart for one of the many beautiful camping locations around our country to enjoy God’s beauty – and get in some water-skiing. As soon as we’d make camp, and after my chores were finished, I’d get on my bicycle and explore the area, basking in the cool mountain air and the gorgeous trees! I love trees! I guess that’s one of the reasons we chose East Tennessee to make our home. I get that same “Aaahhh” feeling when I explore the gorgeous cool wooded areas around Tellico Lake and the Smoky Mountains as I did as a child exploring the northern Sierras.
June also marks the month in which we honor fathers. And although my dad has been gone now for a number of years, I still reflect back on memories of him when Father’s Day arrives. Memories of camping trips from Yosemite to Yellowstone, of going down the Super Slide, of accompanying him when he sang solos at church, of walking down the aisle with him at my wedding, of him insisting on fixing my sink (translated – take it apart) for me on Thanksgiving Day, and so much more.
Dad taught me a lot. He taught me to read, to always try my best, and about fixing things, just to name a few. He also taught me to love and revere The Lord. Even though he’s been gone for almost three decades, I still think about sharing things with him and asking his advice. I miss him.
In addition to my dad, other fathers come to mind. Our only son is a relatively new father, recently blessed with his third child. Watching him dote on his precious little ones reminds me of watching my husband doting on our son at that age; another example of children learning from their parents and taking on many of their traits. Seems so much of life comes full circle. I’m grateful and proud of the father I had. I’m grateful and proud of the father my husband is. I’m grateful and proud of the father my son is already becoming.
And, I’m especially grateful to my Father in heaven who blessed my life with these three wonderful men. Jesus and Paul refer to God as “Abba, Father” “…you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, “Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:15
What does “Abba” mean? There are many definitions, but I like this one the best: According to HELPS Word-studies, Abba is used as the term of tender endearment by a child in an affectionate, dependent relationship with their father. Note the word “dependent” – that is a great description for our relationship to the Lord. I know it describes mine.
So, to all dads - and to those who fill the role of dad, we wish you a very happy Father ’s Day.

MV: Tell us about the rest of your team.
Tim: Absolutely. Eddy Palacios is our hands-on project manager with 15 years of construction experience. Eddy provides constant “on site” project supervision, makes sure the job sites are clean and well organized, and makes sure the construction materials are delivered to the job sites on time. Eddy is a great asset, ensuring that every job goes smoothly and gets completed on time. Eddy and his wife, Allie, enjoy free time on the lake with their 3 children.
Heather Doran is our office manager. Our office is conveniently located in the center of Tellico Village at 296-A Village Square Drive. When you stop by our office, you’ll be greeted by Heather, and she will answer any questions you might have and supply you with literature and construction specifications for any project you may have in mind. Heather can also arrange an appointment for you to meet with Tim so you can discuss your
project and visit our models and existing construction. Heather is a wonderful asset to our company. She is always there with a big smile - ready to lend a helping hand. Heather and her husband, Josh, have 3 children and particularly enjoy their weekends at the lake.
MV: Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
Tim: Only to contact us so we can personally give you an estimate of your project. We look forward to helping you turn your current home into your dream home! Lake Point Homes 296-A Village Square Drive Loudon, TN 37774 www.lakepointhomes.com

Lifetime memories are made during the summer months. Children are home from school, often swapping textbooks for fishing rods and classroom time for water time, learning from new summer jobs. Summer allows for family vacations, backyard BBQs, neighborhood get-togethers, church picnics, art festivals, hiking the trails, camping in the woods.
High school and college graduations are often celebrated during the early summer months, bringing family and friends together to recognize and honor the accomplishments of the upcoming generation of new leaders. Marriages in the garden, babies born, loved ones put to rest. So much happens during the “lazy days of summer.” Not so lazy these days. What is notable with events like these are that permanent memories are often etched into our minds that are unique and entirely personal. Memories that can make for positive changes in our lives.
Summer ends. Schools reopen, some students travel back to college or to distant new job locations. Vacation time is exhausted, its back to the grind. Time to start planning for next summer. If only the time between summers could be compressed to just one week, or as a 1974 Beach Boys album was named: Endless Summer. If only we could continue making summertime memories all year long. Well, for some there is a way.
Church congregations are often referred to as church families. Liturgical churches such as Shepherd of the Lake in Tellico Village emphasizes the importance of the Word and sacraments, all of which serve to bring us together as God’s family. Weekly services are church-family reunions, special events such as graduations, marriages, births and burials are celebrated as any family does, with hands held, embraces exchanged, tears and smiles shared. Church family members become truly family. Holy Communion is shared like a dish at a family reunion, but in this setting, we are nourished by God’s sacramental gift of grace.
Throughout liturgy, love of God and neighbor is the number one teaching. Its love that bonds family, love that builds bridges, love that overcomes hate, love that brings peace.
Every Sunday at Shepherd of the Lake, parishioners are welcomed as brothers and sisters in Christ upon entering the building as they find their way into the sacred space in anticipation of being reunited by faith. Gathered together as family, beliefs are professed, greetings exchanged, and all gather for Holy Communion, the Eucharistic gift given by Jesus, that bonds us as family. Yes, it is a weekly reunion.
Following the conclusion of the liturgical services the parishioners at Shepherd of the Lake gather for social time in the adjacent friendship hall for refreshments and a tasty treat. The day of reunion fades until the next, just a week away.
Summertime can be all the time, but most importantly it can always be family time, and it’s available to anyone who is looking for it.
If you grew up in the 1950s into the 1970s, your home likely had a list of emergency numbers near the family phone. Topping the list were the police, fire department and ambulance. In pre-911 days, all were reachable by dialing zero for the operator.
Other numbers likely included the family doctor, school, babysitter, employer, church, veterinarian, neighbors, insurance agent, family friends, and, of course, grandparents.
Given the latitude that parents of that era gave their kids, the doctor’s office likely garnered a few calls, which necessitated calls to the school to report absences due to injuries, but also illness.
Where young kids were concerned, grandparents’ numbers were likely the most dialed. For many youngsters, grandparents were the ultimate emergency number. There wasn’t much they couldn’t do for you – even over the phone – an attentive ear, encouragement or comfort, wise advice, even pledges to intercede with dad and mom. For many of us, our grandparents are long gone, but the memories and emotional comfort they brought remain vivid and endearing.
Today, few households have emergency lists tacked on a wall. Those all-important numbers are now stored in cellphones, and we merely instruct our devices to dial up so and so.
While the technology has changed, many of those childhood concerns endure. Who among us doesn’t occasionally pine for forgiveness, need an emotional boost, or feel fear, grief, regret, emptiness and doubt?
Are you seeking comfort, forgiveness, direction, maybe grace, in your life? The good news is there IS an emergency list of numbers for all these needs and goals. It’s the Bible, that miraculous collection of 66
books written in three different languages over the course of 1,500 years by more than 40 diverse authors (ranging from simple fishermen to kings) – all of them inspired by God Himself!
Consider just these 10 “emergency numbers.”
» Abandonment – Deuteronomy 31:6
» Anger – Romans 12:19
» Anxiety – Philippians 4:13
» Despair – Romans 15:13
» Doubt – Proverbs 3:5-6
» Fear – Isaiah 41:10
» Grief – Psalm 34:18
» Guilt – Luke 15:7
» Loneliness – Psalm 62:8
» Regret –Acts 3:19
Are you interested in the healing, comfort and direction available on the pages of the Bible? At First Baptist Church Tellico Village (FBCTV), we are a congregation striving and learning to focus our eyes on the Lord and His Word for comfort, direction and salvation. Led by Pastors David Talley and Kem Lindsay, FBCTV is a friendly, welcoming community of believers. Join us by attending – or watching online – our Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. Visit FBCTV.org for more information.
Pastor Dave’s Prayer:
“Lord, You promise that You will be found by those who seek You. And when we seek You, You are present with us, strengthen us when we are weak, give us hope in the unexpected of life, grant peace that makes no sense in times of stress and difficulty, and enable us to rest when life seems out of control. So, help everyone who reads this to seek YOU. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Whether it’s in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry, or closet, ShelfGenie® has Custom Pull-Out Shelves for your biggest frustrations.
You may have a particular challenge in your kitchen related to storage, organization or access. Luckily, ShelfGenie has some organizational tips and solutions to help transform these frustrations into joy.
Issue #1—Deep or Narrow pantry shelves: Deep or narrow pantries make it more difficult to see and access items you’re storing. Grouping items in like categories and keeping frequently used items up front can help. ShelfGenie Glide Out shelves can also help since they pull out the full depth of your pantry, making seeing and retrieving items easier
Issue #2—High overhead cabinets: If you have a high cabinet that is hard to reach, consider putting in vertical dividers to use this space to store flat items such as baking sheets and trays. You can reach each item at the bottom
which makes access much easier.
Issue #3—Blind corner cabinet: Some homeowners struggle with cabinets that extend back to a corner which makes full access nearly impossible. ShelfGenie has a solution that can increase usable storage space by up to 50 percent and brings items from the back of the cabinet to the cabinet door for more accessibility.
Issue #4—Tricky space under the sink: The area under the sink is hard to reach and keep organized. A ShelfGenie under-sink Glide Out with a riser shelf is custom designed to your cabinet to avoid pipes, hoses and the garbage disposal so it maximizes your usable spaceand increases access.
Issue #5—Hard-to-reach spaces: For those with mobility issues, bending down to grab pots and pans in
lower cabinets can be a real struggle. To make accessing these items easier, ShelfGenie Designers suggest storing heavier items higher up on Glide Out shelves that pull out for easy retrieval.
Issue #6—In-the-way trashcans: Keep your trash / recycling out of sight- but always within reach- with a Glide Out trash / recycling unit installed in a lower cabinet. The unit pulls out for easy access and can be attached to the cabinet door for an elegant, functional solution.
To bring these solutions to your home and begin turning your frustration into joy, schedule a complimentary inhome consultation with a ShelfGenie Designer today. ShelfGenie® 865-270-5465 www.shelfgenie.com

Our PLACE was blessed by everyone who supported our SOLD-OUT Gala on May 18th at the Tellico Village Yacht Club. This is quickly becoming Tellico Village’s premier event, and we couldn’t do it without our sponsors, auction donors, volunteers, and Gala attendees. Throughout the evening, it was clear we were there to help Our PLACE participants, caregivers, families, and programs. Be sure to mark your calendars for our 3rd Annual Gala on May 17, 2026.
Over the next few months, I’ll provide you with information about the programming that happens at Our PLACE, which is not only therapeutic but thoughtfully designed to help our participants and their caregivers. This includes music, exercise, pet therapy, and communication, among others. This month, the focus is on music and the brain’s incredible response to it. From day one of volunteering at Our PLACE, I have been amazed by the immediate, positive, and universal participation of our clients when they hear music. Whether it is an individual or a local group that comes in to share their music, or a volunteer who leads everyone in singing songs or hymns, everyone takes part by singing, humming, or moving their body along with the music. So, I wondered how exactly music affects the brain in scientific terms.
A new article published in April by Neuroscience News reports on studies done at the University of Southern California on the link between nostalgic music and cognitive health. The scientists used magnetic resonance imaging to monitor blood flow to various regions of the brain. They created three categories of songs for each participant: 1. Personalized nostalgic (music tied to life events); 2. Familiar non-nostalgic (songs known to the participant but not linked to specific memories); 3. Unfamiliar nonnostalgic (songs the participant hadn’t heard before). Nostalgic music lights up the brain regions associated with autobiographical memory
CTellico Village Library.
and self-reflection. For example, a person hearing their wedding song may recall not only the event, but the people and emotions of the day. Nostalgic songs also activate the pleasure and happiness areas of the brain, as well as motor regions of the brain. That explains why people may want to dance, sing along, or move their bodies when listening to a song. Music, then, turns into a mental key, giving access to thoughts, emotions, calm, and even vocabulary. This study confirms that music isn’t just entertainment, but essential to staying connected and aware. It also creates a feeling of awareness.
So, playing music in the background at home or singing together is a great tool, and one that is available to borrow at the Tellico Village Library. They have several music players that are easy to use and preprogrammed with specific kinds of music. In addition, other music genres are available, such as R&B, Jazz, Big Band, Rock, and music from various decades. Check out this great resource!!

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month.
aring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia is one of the most selfless and noble acts a person can undertake. Yet, it is also one of the most challenging. Many caregivers express a deep sense of commitment, often tied to the vows they made to their spouse— “for better or for worse”—never realizing that the final years of their loved one’s life, which should be filled with love and cherished moments, can instead become some of the most difficult. Many caregivers struggle with the belief that they must handle everything alone. They often feel guilty, as though asking for help means failing the person they love. Many have spent their entire lives caring for others, and reaching out for support can feel foreign or like a personal shortcoming. However, asking for help is not a sign of weakness —it is an incredible display of strength.
Recognizing the Signs of Caregiver Burnout - Caregiver stress takes a serious toll on both physical and emotional health. Symptoms may include depression, feelings of isolation, extreme fatigue, unexplained anger, frustration, or anxiety.
Failing to ask for help may lead to caregiver burnout, a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that can also bring feelings of resentment. Many caregivers lose their sense of identity, as friendships, hobbies, and personal time fade into the background.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone - There are many ways to seek support, whether through friends, church communities, caregiver support groups, or adult day centers. Adult day centers, like Our PLACE, provide a safe and nurturing environment for loved ones while giving caregivers a much-needed respite. This break allows caregivers to reclaim their sense of self, engage in activities they enjoy, and maintain their well-being, while knowing their loved one is receiving quality care.
How Our PLACE Can Help - Our PLACE supports adults who are mildly to moderately impaired by Alzheimer’s or dementia. Because the progression of these diseases varies, the window of time when someone can safely and successfully attend our program is limited. We encourage families to reach out sooner rather than later to ensure their loved one fully benefits from our services.
To qualify for Our PLACE, participants must be ambulatory, manage their continence needs, cooperate in group settings, and adhere to behavioral norms.
Cost is one common reason families delay asking for help. However, Our PLACE has multiple funding options, including support through VA benefits, TennCare Choices, long-term care insurance, and scholarships. Our scholarships are made possible through the generous support of multiple organizations and funding sources. Our goal is never to turn anyone away for financial reasons.
Take the First Step—We Are Here for You - Caregiving is a journey, and no one should have to walk it alone. Seeking support is not giving up—it’s ensuring that you and your loved one receive the care you deserve. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Let us help you find the support and resources you need to continue providing the best care possible.
Our PLACE is the only independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit adult day center in East Tennessee. Another tax season is in the books and if you wish taxes weren’t taking such a bite out of your wallet, here are some tips to help you lower your tax bill next year.
First, if you have investment accounts that are creating taxable income, focus on choosing tax-smart investments. For example, hold investments that create qualified dividends instead of ordinary dividends. Qualified dividends are taxed at 0% to 15%, while ordinary dividends are taxed at your ordinary income tax rate. For your bond holdings, mix in some municipal bond funds, whose interest is federal income tax free. You can also keep taxable interest off of your tax return altogether by choosing tax-deferred, guaranteed-rate fixed annuities.
Second, if you’re taking Required Minimum Distributions and also giving any money away to charities or churches during the year, PLEASE use the Qualified Charitable Distributions rule to lower your taxable
By yvonne marsh, cfP®, cPa
income. By instructing your IRA custodian to send a portion of the RMD straight to your charity, you can exclude that gift amount from your taxable income. Super easy – just remember that you can’t take possession of the RMD funds first; it has to go straight from the IRA custodian to the charity.
Third, if you’re working and use a high-deductible health insurance plan, set up a Health Savings Account and take a tax deduction for funding it: $4,300 for an individual or $8,550 for a family in 2025, plus another $1,000 if you’re over age 55.
Remember, an HSA is triple tax-advantaged: You get a tax deduction, it grows tax-deferred and it’s tax-free when you use it for a wide range of qualified medical expenses. And you always have until the April tax filing deadline to fund an HSA for the previous year, so it can really help out in a pinch.
Lastly, a little trickier idea, but if you’re in the mood to do Roth IRA conversions and you also have a charitable
bent, consider doubling up your charitable giving into one year to create enough of a tax deduction to offset the taxable Roth conversion. You build tax-free wealth in a Roth IRA and your favorite charity gets to help the world be a little better place.
Shoot me an email if you have any questions – helping people save taxes is one of my favorite past times!

Tennessee has two primary clearwing moths; the snowberry clearwing and the hummingbird clearwing. I don’t photograph insects much, but I can never pass them up.
The species I’m sharing in this article is the snowberry clearwing. Most people probably don’t even know these exist here in Tennessee, but May through September is when you will see them. They are most active during warmer months and during mid-day. I really don’t see them much, so I often forget about them being here myself – but I can sit for hours watching them when I do spot one. These moths can hover, fly backwards, and feed on nectar like hummingbirds do, and they can also reach speeds close to that of a hummingbird. These moths are a crucial pollinator; their long proboscises allow them to reach deeper into flowers and pollinate flowers that bees and butterflies often miss. You can attract them to your garden by adding nectar rich flowers like wild columbine, phlox or bee balm.

ell, we made it through May with its hot days, cold days, torrential rain, hail, and an earthquake, so let’s see what nature throws at us this month!
WJune is still a good month to work in your garden. The days are getting longer, and the soil is fully warmed. The rising heat brings new challenges, from pest management to watering needs. Here’s what you need to/can do this month:
1. Plant Warm-Season Crops If you haven’t already, June is a great time to plant heat-loving vegetables. Some top picks include tomatoes (we still have plenty), peppers (both sweet and hot varieties), eggplants, okra, sweet potatoes, beans (especially bush and pole beans), squash (zucchini and yellow squash), melons, and cucumbers. If you’re serious about feeding your family, succession planting is key this month. Stagger plantings of beans, lettuce, or squash every couple weeks to extend the harvest later into summer.
2. Maintain and Fertilize Once your garden is in full swing, maintenance is essential. Some to-dos:
» Mulch: Apply a 2-3 inch layer of organic mulch (straw, pine bark, or shredded leaves) around vegetables and flowers to conserve moisture, reduce weed growth, and moderate soil temperature.
» Fertilize: Feed heavy feeders such as tomatoes and corn. Organic compost or balanced granular fertilizers work well.
» Weed: Weeds grow amazingly well in fresh, worked-up soil. Remove them regularly before they go to seed. If plants are established, use Preen. Now let’s talk about lawn and landscape plants. June is a peak month for ornamental gardens, with many plants putting on a show! To keep the show going you’ll need to keep working in the yard.
» Plant summer annuals: It’s still a good time to add color, and we have lots of plants in stock. Angelonia, vinca, purslane, and lantana are a few that take the summer heat like a champ.
» Prune spring-flowering shrubs: Prune azaleas, lilacs, or forsythia now before they set buds for next year.
» Deadhead: Remove spent blooms from annuals and perennials to encourage further flowering and to keep the old blooms from causing fungus.
» Check for pests: June often brings increased pest activity. Watch for Japanese beetles, aphids, and spider mites. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil as needed.
» Mow high: Raise your mower blade to 3-4 inches to promote deep root growth and retain soil moisture.
» Water deeply and early: Aim for about an inch of water per week, ideally applied in the early morning to minimize evaporation and prevent disease. If your space is limited, June is a great time to plant or freshen up containers.
» Herbs like basil, cilantro, thyme, and oregano love heat and do well in pots.
» Water daily in hot spells, as containers dry out more quickly.
» Pinch herbs regularly to keep them from bolting and to encourage bushy growth.
» Some vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, carrots, potatoes, and more do well in pots.
» Flowers will need the same care as those in the ground. Deadhead, fertilize, and check for insects weekly.
Now let’s talk about perennials, because June is perennial month! There are some things to
keep in mind if you’re not used to growing perennials. Many perennials do not have a long bloom time - 4-6 weeks is average. If you want consistent blooms, you’ll need to plant sequential bloomers. Start out your spring with creeping phlox, candytuft, irises, peonies, brunnera, and baptisia. Add summer bloomers such as daisies, lilies, phlox, purple coneflower, yarrow, bee balm, rudbeckia, and salvia. Shady yard? Hostas, coral bells, and ferns will give you blooms and wonderful foliage color combinations. Moving into the fall, asters, mums, sedums, and some sages will continue the bloom show. Winter has hellebores to bloom in the gloom. Native plants have the additional benefits of being easier to grow and feeding our native pollinators, so check those out as well!
More information about perennials:
» It takes them a little while to get going. Most start performing the third year.
» After 3-5 years, you can divide and share. Research timing or give us a call, some prefer spring and some prefer fall.
» Most can be moved if they (or you) are unhappy with their location. Butterfly weed has a taproot and cannot be moved.
» Perennial does not mean forever. Some, such as peonies, live for decades. Others start fading after a few years.
We continue to get trucks in throughout the summer, so stop by to see what’s new. Let us help you have a beautiful garden!

“Iwas fortunate to know Mike Massey growing up, and this is the table he got for me.” A dear childhood friend, who will go unnamed in this article, was showing me his billiards room and an elegant, absolutely beautiful table.
I was shocked to discover he had been so well acquainted with the great Michael Massey, a sports legend known as the “Tennessee Tarzan.”
Born in Loudon in 1947, Massey learned his craft right here in his formative years before moving on to big time competition on the national scene.
His accomplishments over a long career stand right up there with the esteemed Minnesota Fats, Willie Mosconi and others.
What makes this Loudon native stand apart from other pool greats is the wide range of his accomplishments, especially in the realm of amazing trick shots. If you need proof, google videos and television appearances where he makes shots which seem absolutely impossible. But his successful sporting life once seemed doomed for destruction and sure death.
As a young adult Massey slipped into drug abuse and alcoholism while preying on others as a compulsive card cheat and pool hustler. After suffering an awful LSD trip, he was jailed and eventually placed in a psychiatric ward, diagnosed as schizophrenic. This went on for years until one day, kneeling at a church altar in his hometown of Loudon, Tennessee, Mike pleaded for God to help him to begin a new journey toward a productive life. He learned to stop praying for himself, requesting God to show him a way to serve others. Despite a couple of backslides he found a way to testify to others while demonstrating his tremendous talents at each public appearance.
His world records include 11,230 balls pocketed in a single marathon shooting, as well as a miraculous 330 racks of nine-ball run one evening on live television in a 24-hour set. Another unmatched feat was 8,090 balls pocketed in marathon shooting with only one arm! He’s won the World Snooker Trick Shot Championship three different years, the Mosconi Cup, the World Pool Masters Trick Shot Challenge and numerous 9-Ball championships. Mike won the ESPN Trick Shot Magic titles an unprecedent-

id you know that hearing aids are high-performance computers? Digital hearing aids are technological miracles. With a processing system just a few millimeters long, hearing aids perform remarkably well. A microchip processes all sounds in real time and plays each frequency in the appropriate amplification level in your ear. The left and right hearing aids communicate with each other and allow you to hear in a natural way.
Bluetooth enabled hearing aids can help you reconnect to your world by pairing your hearing instruments to a variety of Bluetooth enabled electronic devices-including your cell phone. When you use this technology, you get hands-free communication, clear transmission of the phone conversation directly into your ears and more! They also connect to your TV and bring the sound directly to your ears!
Did you know that hearing aids are built with directional microphones to detect all ambient noises and automatically filter them for important sounds? The hearing aids automatically adjust to provide optimal sound reproduction whether you are at home or in a noisy restaurant. You do not have to concentrate on listening but can participate with all your attention in the joy of conversations. Therefore, you can understand your conversation partner well in noisy scenes – whether he is sitting next to you in the car or in a busy café.
Did you know that modern hearing aids have an automatic situation detection feature? They detect whether you are in a noisy or quiet environment, whether you are talking to one or more people, and whether you want to listen to music or natural sounds. With respect to the situation, annoying background noises are faded out and the conversation is intensified, so you can understand well.
Now you know; hearing aids can change your life.

Looking for ways to make the most of your time outdoors this summer? Grab your crew and go boating! Being on the water is one of the best ways to disconnect from distractions on land, allowing you to relax and recharge in nature. Not only is there a scientific connection between boating and happiness - the sight and sound of water promotes wellness by increasing serotonin, lowering cortisol and reducing stress - but boating is also a fun way to spend time with loved ones and meet new people within the boating community. There are plenty of ways to get on the water whether you rent, charter, share, join a boat club or own a boat.
Remember, boating should be enjoyable, not intimidating. Before stepping on board or taking the helm, brush up on your nautical know-how to boost your confidence and create a safer environment, allowing for a pleasant, stress-free day on the water for everyone involved.
“There’s nothing like spending a day on the water - where freedom meets fresh air, stress melts away and lasting memories are made with your favorite people,” said Ellen Bradley, senior vice president of Discover Boating. “Whether you’re new to boating, a seasoned captain or a passenger along for the ride, it’s always smart to brush up on the rules of the water. Discover Boating makes it easy with expert tips and safety resources right at your fingertips.”
Discover Boating is a one-stop destination for all things boating, from safety and education articles, maintenance checklists and boating destinations, to finding your dream boat, locating verified dealerships in your area and more.
Below are five tips from Discover Boating to improve your boating knowledge to ensure the best possible experience on your next boating adventure.
Learn boating safety essentials. View Discover Boating’s new video series in collaboration with Progressive Insurance® for expert tips ranging from preparing your boat for the season to trailering, boating with kids and furry friends and more. If you plan on buying a boat, or you are a new boat owner, consider getting boat insurance for an added layer of security and protection.
Take a boating course. Sign up for a boating lesson to hone your powerboating, sailing or watersports skills by mastering the basics while having fun along the way. On-water training courses, watersports camps, youth boating programs and more are offered across the country.
Visit a boat show. Boat shows are an ideal place to immerse yourself in the boating lifestyle and provide a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with - and shopa variety of boat dealers and marine product companies all under one roof. Most boat shows also offer hands-on demonstrations and educational opportunities for boaters of all experience levels. Find a boat show in your area.
Look for the seal of approval. When shopping for a boat, whether at a boat show, online or at a dealership, check to make sure it is NMMA Certified. NMMA Certified boat and trailer manufacturers have been independently inspected to ensure they meet strict industry standards for safety and construction, as well as all federal regulations. Look for the NMMA Certified sticker near the helm of a boat.
Maintenance matters. Similar to cars, there are a few areas that require regular maintenance by the owner, and a few areas that require maintenance at routine intervals, which most leave to the professionals. Prepare a boat maintenance checklist that covers everything from engine needs to cleaning to electrical systems to ensure your boat has a long lifespan.

redecorating, or building, here’s how working with an interior designer can help:
Remodeling - When you need to reimagine the whole space, we ca n help before you touch a single wall. Especially i n older homes, the layout was designed with a different lifestyle in m ind. The rooms are smaller, with less storage, less lights and often little windows. When remodeling these spaces to suit modern sensibi lities, it can be hard to envision what those chang es can look like, and even what options are available. We can work with your c ontractor to preserve the elements of the home that you love, and change the parts that you don’t. Once the new bones are establ ished, we can continue with the rest of the home an d seamlessly carry the design from room to room.
Redecorating - Maybe you have a room that you just don’t know wh at to do with. A cafe, a library, an office, a play room, the options are endless to reimagine rooms to better suit your current lifestyle and needs. Perhaps your furniture from when you started your family is no longer your style. We can help you rei magine your space, keeping your favorites, and addi ng in new pieces or colors to match your current preferences.
Building - You’ve got your home plan, but it’s hard to read. You know there’s a cool ceiling detail, but you ca n’t visualize what it will look like from the plans. 20' x 20' sounds like a h uge living room, but there’s so many walkways, wher e would the furniture go? We can help you see the space before it is built, and help place your existing furniture in the virtual s pace so you’ll have a plan. Wanting a specific piece for an accent wall, but can’t find i t? We can help with that too, as well as lighting, countertop, cabinet, and paint selections. This way, we can help provide the answe
he holidays are here and, with family and friends over for meals and fun, the spills or unexpected “items” on your one-of-a-kind Oriental rug are bound to happen. For serious stains or dirt, a professional Oriental rug cleaning company like Superior Rug Cleaning is 100 percent necessary but, what if you want to maintain your expensive rug or clean up accidents? We asked the expert, Kerry McDuffie, at Superior Rug Cleaning to give us some tips for keeping your expensive Oriental rug clean.
Kerry’s Expert Rug Maintenance and Cleaning Tips:
» Vacuum your rug regularly and, if possible, flip the rug over and vacuum the back of it, too. The vibration will sift loose soil to the front of rug. Turn the rug over again and then vacuum off the top one more time.
» Rotate the position of the rug every few months, if possible, so that the higher traffic part is in a different place.
» Remove spots as soon as they occur. The longer something that can stain the rug remains in the fibers, the more difficult it can be to remove them later
» Blot up spills using just water first. I don’t recommend using Resolve or OxiClean on rug stains as these products are designed for laundry, and it can take copious amounts of water to flush them out of the rug once they are there.
» Feel free to call me at 865-691-5686 for further advice.
If your Oriental rug needs an expert touch, be sure to call Kerry at Superior Rug Cleaning. Superior Rugs believes that properly caring for your Oriental rug requires more than just a carpet cleaning machine. That’s why we have a 12-step cleaning process, where we first determine the exact fiber content and dyes used, then take the rug to our specialized facility, wash it in pure, deionized cold water in a wool-safe solution. Once the rug is washed, we give it a thorough rinse and hang it to dry in our temperaturecontrolled drying room.
Whether it’s in your home or place of business, our cleaning process is sure to put that extra magic back into your handmade Oriental rug. We’ve had hundreds of satisfied customers walk through our doors over the years, and we’re excited to add you to the list.
