Descripción de Proyecto / Project Description Para ampliar sus servicios al público, el Jardín Botánico comisiona una estructura que permita reunir y atender a quienes visitan sus predios, también para albergar oficinas administrativas, baños, un área de ventas y espacios de espera. El diseño se plantea como un típico “folie” de un gran parque, si bien un tanto más discreto. Escudada por la vegetación circundante, la estructura toma forma de torre para subrayar con la verticalidad su carácter de hito. Por la forma en que se articulan – a modo de bajorrelieve – las superficies en concreto evocan el tratamiento tradicional de fachadas en madera. La pared exenta que se extiende longitudinalmente permite insertar el proyecto en la red de veredas circundantes.
In an effort to expand its services to the public, the Botanical Garden requests the design of a structure to gather and service those visiting its grounds, incorporating administrative offices, bathrooms, a sales area and waiting spaces. A “folie” in the manner of those found in large parks is proposed, even if in a somewhat discreet version. Shielded by the surrounding vegetation, the structure resembles a tower, underling its importance through verticality. Articulated as bas-reliefs, surfaces finished in concrete recall the traditional appearance of structures built in wood. The free-standing wall that extends longitudinally facilitates incorporation of the structure to an existing network of trails.
