Work Experience Role Finance Work Experience Student

BACKGROUND

The Youth Space Work Experience student will maintain effective and positive relationships with the Operations Manager and other Youth Options staff.

Work experience student is required to be a current Youth Space student at Youth Options and under 18 years old.

An induction on Youth Options mission, values, Code of Conduct and Child Safe policies as well as other ongoing training will be provided.

Youth Options is a Public Benevolent Institution, with a mission to help vulnerable and disadvantaged people to access the employment, education or training they need to achieve their life goals.

We have provided youth, employment and career services with funding from the Commonwealth and SA State Governments since 1997, delivering assistance including case management, mentoring and coaching, career development support, training, life skills programs, work experience, and job search advice and support to disengaged and at-risk young people.

Description of the Work Experience Role

The role of the Finance Work Experience student is to observe and assist the finance team. This role would suit a student wishing to gain practical experience and skills in an office and youth services environment, with an interest in finance. This opportunity allows for the student to determine if this type of work is of interest to them and will assist in directing their career planning and goals

Key Responsibilities

• Observe and assist with:

o Use of Xero Finance Package

o Accounts Receivable

o Accounts Payable

o Production of Reports for Management

o Banking and Reconciliations

o Filing

o Additional projects as required

Selection Criteria

Essential

• Punctual and reliable with consistent attendance record at Youth Space.

• Enthusiastic and cheerful attitude

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Competent use of Microsoft Office programs.

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Confident to work in a youth orientated environment

Experience/Education

No formal qualifications required.

This role would suit a student wishing to gain practical experience and skills in an office and youth services environment, with an interest in administration and customer service. This opportunity allows for the student to determine if this type of work is of interest to them and will assist in directing their career planning and goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Front office and reception service

• Photocopying, collating and binding documents and manuals

• Collecting and distributing mail and general office supplies

• Records management

• Data entry and other computer related work

• Assisting in various program projects

• Event and function support

• Room preparation and pack down

• Minor catering support

• Promotion and marketing support

• Other general office errands and tasks

Selection Criteria

Essential

This opportunity allows for the student to determine if this type of work is of interest to them and will assist in directing their career planning and goals

Key Responsibilities

• Observe and assist with:

o Helpdesk tasks

o Hardware deployment

o Cybersecurity and system upgrades

o Software and system deployment

o Additional IT projects as required
