Community is a vital attribute for the success of Godfrey-Lee Public Schools. We have tremendous pride in the partnerships we have with business, philanthropy, nonprofits, educational institutions, charities, and service agencies. It is our goal to be a community school that meets the needs of the whole child, so that our students are happy, healthy, and successful both in, and out, of the classroom.
GLPS is requesting a 10 year, 3 Mill Sinking Fund, for maintenance of our buildings, safety and security enhancements, and upgrading technology. The current Sinking Fund, approved by voters in 2009, is expiring this year. The average homeowner would see a $34/year increase.
However, our most meaningful partnership is the collaboration we have with our families to support student learning. It is core to our mission to serve the community, in order to deliver the finest education possible. We cannot accomplish this outcome on our own, as it is critical for learning to extend beyond the school house walls. This past Fall, GLPS took on the task of creating a Strategic Design to guide the work of the district over the next three to five years. Key to the process of creating a final product is stakeholder feedback, to reflect the many voices Godfrey-Lee serves. Our Board of Education and Leadership Team held school visits, administered perception surveys, and hosted focus groups with students, staff, and families.
On November 29, 2017, over 50 families participated in a focus group session to provide feedback on issues critical to their child’s education. Questions included identifying what makes our district special, opportunities for improvement, technology integration, and visioning for the future. The voices of our community matter when determining the mission, vision, and direction of our school district. This event demonstrated that, by collaborating, we can bring many thoughts and ideas together to create one powerful voice. We look forward to sharing the outcome of the Strategic Design process, later this Spring, for a second round of feedback before it is adopted by the Board of Education. Throughout this edition of our newsletter, we will continue to explore the 6Cs framework, by highlighting Collaboration throughout our district. The 6Cs include Collaboration, Communication, Content, Critical Thinking, Creative Innovation, and Confidence. The Godfrey-Lee Board of Education adopted the 6Cs framework from the book Becoming Brilliant as our Learner Profile in June, 2017, to clearly define what learning should look like at Godfrey-Lee. La Comunidad es un atributo vital para el éxito de las Escuelas Públicas de Godfrey-Lee. Tenemos un tremendo orgullo en la sociedad que tenemos con los negocios, filantropía, no lucrativo, instituciones educacionales, caridades y agencias de servicio. Es nuestra meta ser un escuela comunitaria que alcance las necesidades del niño, así nuestros alumnos están felices, saludables y éxito dentro y fuera del aula. In Becoming Brilliant: What Science Tells Us About Raising Successful Children, (2016) authors Roberta Michnick Golinkoff and Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, provide evidence that collaboration is a key skill for developing success in creating meaning out of experiences. They identify "building together" as a high level of collaboration; Godfrey-Lee Public Schools aspires to collaborate and build together with our students, staff, and community partners. Three strong examples of building together include our partnerships with local and national experts in the areas of reading, social studies, and learning transformation. First, we have partnered with Ottawa and Kent County Intermediate School Districts and the Reading Now Network to participate in an inventory of our reading program and practices, to help strengthen K-5 readers. In December, almost 20 literacy specialists, administrators, and teachers observed and provided feedback about the current state of our reading program. Teachers and administrators will decide how best to use the feedback to build on the strengths of our program.
En Convertirse Brillante: Que Ciencia Nos Enseña Criando Niños Exitosos, (2016) las autoras Roberta Michnick Golinkoff y Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, mostraron evidencia que la colaboración es clave habilidad para desarrollar éxito en experiencias. Ellos identifican “construyendo juntos” como un nivel alto de colaboración; Las Escuelas Públicas de Godfrey Lee aspiran a colaborar y construir junto con nuestros estudiantes, personal y socios comunitarios. Second, in Social Studies, we have brought together a team that has deep knowledge of both content and practices, to develop a thematic approach to social studies learning. Dick Cooley and Tammy Schreiner of Grand Valley State University, and Alex McDonnell, from Friends Central School in Philadelphia, collaborated with GLPS teacher Tom Degennaro, to build a curriculum that focuses on the compelling questions of history, using theme to organize the content. Last, we have established a partnership with author Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, herself, and she and a team including Ginger Fifer, former Friends Central teacher from Philadelphia, Andres Bustamante, post-doctoral assistant to Kathy, and Twila Tardif, early learning specialist from the University of Michigan, visited us in November. Over 50 members of Godfrey-Lee learned, together, how to organize learning in meaningful ways, using themes. Teachers and administrators literally built a model together to show their understanding of a text that all read and to provide the experience of creating to help produce understanding, a practice many hope to bring back to their classrooms. These three partnerships are just a few examples, among so many, that show that Godfrey-Lee is committed to moving beyond an ‘on my own,’ ‘side by side,’ or ‘back and forth’ method of collaboration to a true ‘build it together’ model that expands our base of knowledge and experience, so that we can provide an environment in which students build together to create meaning in the learning they do. 2018-19 Budget Collaboration It is hard to imagine that the budget season for the 2018-19 school year is nearly upon us. We will get a look at the Governor’s proposal for schools, in early February, that will set the stage for how Godfrey-Lee will budget for the upcoming fiscal year. In order to have a fiscally responsible budget, a great deal of cohesiveness and team effort will take place between the business office, administrators, and staff. The collaboration begins in early February, when the Director of Finance schedules individual meetings with each administrator, to establish their upcoming budgets. In order for the meetings to be reflective of the needs of each department, administrators look to their own staff to gain additional insight of the expectations and needs for the district to run smoothly in the 2018-19 school year. This process gives principals and administrators direct input from the staff who need the resources the most. When the district can gain knowledge from individual departments within the schools, they are much more in tune to what their individual budgets contain to help them purchase for their needs.
Once this process is complete, administrators and principals will submit their recommendations to the business office for review, by early March, during their individual meetings. This allows the business office to gain insight as to where the needs are and their impact of funding them or not. It also allows the Director of Finance and Superintendent to have ample time to discuss each building and department, to make final decisions where the funds are needed most that, ultimately, have the most impact on students. While the process cannot accommodate all requests, to remain in line with the district’s overall budget, it does establish a prioritization of where each department stands. It also gives the business office additional things to consider for the future, if some needs can’t be met in the upcoming school year. This helps put a radar on particular items that may have been overlooked in the past, to make sure we are still considering these needs for the future. All in all, the budgeting aspect of a school district is a team effort that could not be done without the collaboration of all parties involved looking out for the students and what serves them the best way we can.

Es duro imaginar que el presupuesto para el año escolar 2018-19 esta cerca de nosotros. Observaremos e la propuesta del Gobernador para la escuela, temprano en febrero, eso preparara el escenario de como Godfrey-Lee hara el presupuesto para el año fiscal venidero. Para poder tener un presupuesto fiscal responsable, una buena oferta de union y esfuerzo en grupo tomará lugar entre la oficina principal, administradores y personal. La colaboración inicia temprano en febrero cuando el Director de Finanzas programe reuniones individuales con cada administrador, para establecer sus presupuestos venidero. Para que la reunión refleje las necesidades de cada departamento, los administradores veen por su propio personal para obtener una visión de las expectativas y necesidades para que el distrito funcione bien en el año escolar 2018-19. Este proceso le da a los directores y administradores el aporte directo del personal que son los necesitan la mayoría de recursos. Cuando el distrito tiene el conocimiento de cada departamento dentro de las escuelas, están más al tanto de lo contiene su presupuesto individual para ayudarles a comprar sus necesidades. Una vez completado el proceso, administradores y directores presentaran sus recomendaciones a la oficina principal para su revisión, temprano en marzo, durante sus reuniones individuales. Esto le permite a la oficina principal entender mejor dónde están las necesidades y su impacto en estar o no en el presupuesto. También le permite al Director de Finanzas y al Superintendente ampliar el tiempo para discutir cada edificio y departamento, para hacer decisiones finales donde se necesita más el presupuesto, al final, tener más impacto en los estudiantes. Si bien el proceso no puede favorecer todas las solicitudes, permanecer en la lista del presupuesto general del distrito, establece la prioridad de donde cada departamento esta. También le da a la oficina principal mas cosas por considerar para el futuro, si algunas necesidades no se logran en el año escolar venidero. Nos ayuda a poner un radar en cosas particulares que han sido observadas en el pasado, para asegurarnos que consideramos estas necesidades en el futuro.

Considerando todo, el aspecto del presupuesto del distrito escolar es esfuerzo en equipo que no se puede hacer sin la colaboración de todas las partes involucradas viendo por los estudiantes y que los sirve de la mejor manera posible.
OPERATIONS, TRANSPORTATION & FOOD SERVICES
Operations Department
The Godfrey-Lee Public Schools Transportation Department works in collaboration with our Administration Team, as well as surrounding school districts, to provide transportation for qualifying students under the McKinney-Vento Scott Bergman, Director Homeless Assistance Act. Under this Act, every public 616.241.1140 school in the Country is required to find and ensure that qualifying students are educated. As reported in the Grand Rapids Press on January 14, 2018, Godfrey-Lee Public Schools currently serves 110 of these qualifying students, and is collaborating with schools in Michigan to provide transportation. Godfrey-Lee provides direct transportation services to students covered in the Act.

On January 15, 2018, the Godfrey-Lee staff gathered for their Annual Rebel U Professional Learning day. All teachers across the district participated in the day long event that was filled with new learning opportunities and lots of fun. This day provides teachers with the chance to self-direct their own learning and select sessions that are important and meaningful to them, as well as learn about what other teachers in the district are using in their classrooms. Teachers also had an opportunity to collaborate and build a lesson plan that dives deeper into Thematic Learning with a STEAM/Maker focus, which will engage students on a whole new level. Some students also participated in the day and worked alongside teachers to offer insight on what inspires them to learn. El 15 de Enero del 2018, el personal de Godfrey-Lee se reúne por su Rebel U Profesional Dia de Aprender. Todos los maestros del distrito participaron en el dia de gran evento que estaba lleno de de nuevas oportunidades de aprendizaje y mucha divercion. Este dia provee a los maestro la oportunidad de dirigir ellos mismos su aprendizaje y seleccionar su sesiones que son importantes y significativas para ellos, así también lo que otros maestros en el distrito están usando en sus aulas. Los maestros tuvieron la oportunidad de colaborar y hacer un plan de lección que profundiza en Temas de Aprendizaje con Enfoque, Hacer/STEAM, la cual involucra alumnos en un nuevo nivel. Algunos alumnos participaron tambien ese dia y trabajaron junto a los maestros para ofrecer la visión en que los inspira a aprender. ECC - Global Play Day At the ECC, teachers have been hard at work collaborating with each other to create some exciting and engaging opportunities for our students. With the XXIII Winter Olympics coming up, the staff is working together to create an Olympic Day, where students will be able to work alongside classmates, students from other rooms, and teachers to create, explore, and learn about geography, culture, and even participate in some Olympic Style Events.

In early February, the ECC will once again participate in “Global Play Day,” which gives students a chance to find areas of interest, and explore the building. Teachers create opportunities to play with a purpose, while encouraging students to work with others and practice social skills in a large setting. This day always proves to be an exciting opportunity for students to feel a sense of independence, and show pride in how they navigate throughout the school, showcasing their abilities to work collaboratively with all students and staff.
Teachers from Kindergarten, First, and Second grades took part in a day of Professional Development, learning about thematic teaching. Thematic teaching is a structure where students and teachers collaborate and identify a common theme to lead their learning for a semester. For example, a class could choose the theme of flight and to see where their learning goes. They could incorporate math, read about birds or planes, use the scientific method to determine what does and doesn’t fly, and why. The possibilities are limitless, and give students the opportunity to take charge of their learning while working alongside their teacher for an engaging learning experience.
ECC - Dia Global de Juego
En ECC, los maestros han trabajado fuerte en colaborar uno con otro para crear oportunidades atractivas y excitantes para los alumnos. Con las XXIII Olimpiadas de Invierno por venir, el personal esta trabajando juntos para crear un Dia de Olimpiada, donde los alumnos podrán trabajar junto con sus compañeros, alumnos de otro salon de clase y maestros para crear, explorar y aprender geografía, cultura e incluso participar en algun Evento Estilo Olimpiada. Temprano en febrero, la ECC participará de nuevo en “Dia Global de Juego” el cual le da a los alumnos oportunidad de encontrar areas de interes, y explorar el edificio. Los maestros crean oportunidades y propósito para jugar, mientras alientan a los alumnos a trabajar con otros y practicar habilidades sociales en un escenario grande. Este dia prueba que es una oportunidad excitante para los alumnos de sentir una sensación de independencia, y mostrar orgullo de cómo se manejan en la escuela, mostrando su habilidades para trabajar en colaboración con alumnos y personal. Los maestros del Kinder, 1ro y 2do grado tomaron parte en el día de Desarrollo Profesional para aprender enseñanza temática. Enseñanza temática es una estructura donde los alumnos y maestros colaboran e identifican un tema común para liderar su aprendizaje por semestre. Por ejemplo, una clase puede escoger el tema volar y luego donde fue el aprendizaje: pueden incorporar matemáticas, leer acerca de pájaros o aviones, usar el sistema científico para determinar que vuela o no y por que. Las posibilidades son ilimitadas y le dan al alumno la oportunidad de tomar cargo de su aprendizaje mientras trabajan junto con los maestros para atractiva experiencia de aprendizaje.

We have identified some easy ways to improve communication with our families, and here are a few things parents can expect to see beginning this Winter/Spring.
First, we understand the parents in our district work extremely hard to provide for their families, and that they trust us, as a school, to provide their children with the best education possible. Three times a year, Godfrey Elementary has an opportunity to formally report how their child is performing, by sending report cards home. In the Fall and Winter, we do this by hand-delivering the report card during Parent-Teacher Conferences. In the Spring, we mail out the report cards. We have determined that the report card we were using was not user-friendly, and could be confusing to anyone who is not familiar with the format including most, if not all, of our parents. The decision has been made to simplify the format of our report card. Beginning in March, parents can expect to see a single-page report card in both English and Spanish.
Second, our school loves when parents are involved in activities during our school day. In January’s Parent-Teacher Group meeting, a list of possible volunteers was created. Mr. Steketee will be scheduling a time for people on this list to meet with teachers to discuss the volunteer possibilities for them in the school. This is a big step toward getting Godfrey to becoming the place we want it to be: a warm inviting place where parents feel comfortable coming to be a part of our day. Lastly, beginning on Friday, February 2, a bi-weekly communication newsletter will be sent home with students. This newsletter will highlight exciting things going on in the building, opportunities for parents/families to participate in, and celebrating individual and class accomplishments at Godfrey, among other things. We are excited for the future of our school, and cannot wait for our families to be a part of it. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Llegando a las familias A través de varias reuniones, desarrollo profesional y aportaciones del personal, alumnos, miembros de la comunidad y las familias, Primaria de Godfrey se compromete a mejorar las relaciones con las familias de nuestros alumnos. Hemos identificado algunas formas sencillas de mejorar la comunicación con nuestras familias, y aquí hay algunas cosas que los padres pueden esperar a partir de este invierno/primavera. 1ro, entendemos que los padres en nuestro distrito trabajan arduamente para mantener a sus familias, ellos confían en nosotros, como escuela, para brindarle a sus hijos la mejor educación posible. 3 veces al año, la Primaria Godfrey tiene la oportunidad de informar el desempeño su hijo, enviando tarjetas de calificaciones a casa. En otoño e invierno, entregamos la boleta de calificaciones en las conferencias de padres y maestros. En primavera, enviamos las tarjetas de calificaciones. Determinamos que la tarjeta de calificaciones que usabamos no era fácil de usar, y podría ser confusa para el que no esté familiarizado con el formato e incluye a la mayoría,o a todos, nuestros padres. Decidimos simplificar la tarjeta de calificaciones. A partir de marzo, los padres podrán ver la tarjeta de calificaciones en una página en inglés y español. 2do, a nuestra escuela le encanta cuando los padres participan en actividades en nuestro día escolar. En la reunión del Grupo de Padres y Maestros de enero, se creó una lista de posibles voluntarios. El Sr. Steketee programará un horario para que las personas en esta lista se reúnan con los maestros para discutir las posibilidades de voluntariado para ellos en la escuela. Este es un gran paso para lograr que Godfrey se convierta en el lugar que queremos que sea: un lugar cálido y acogedor donde los padres se sientan cómodos a formar parte de nuestro día. Por último, a partir del viernes 2 de febrero, se enviará a casa un boletín de comunicación quincenal con los estudiantes. Este boletín destacará las cosas emocionantes que están sucediendo en el edificio, las oportunidades para que los padres/familias participen y celebren los logros individuales y de clase en Godfrey, entre otras cosas.

Choir is all about Collaboration!

Both Lee High School choirs (Varsity Voices and Concert Choir) will be attending the Michigan School Vocal Music Association District Choir Festival in February. This will be the second year for Varsity Voices, and they plan on repeating their high level of performance, by attaining a Level 1 (highest marking), so they may attend the State Choir Festival in May. Varsity Voices will be singing the songs "Yo le Canto Todo al Dia," a Venezuelan piece, and "Cool Moon," an a cappella piece. Concert Choir is attending the District Choir festival for the first time this year, and they also plan on obtaining a Level 1 marking. Concert Choir will be singing a piece by Mozart entitled "Viva!" and a spiritual called "Let Me Ride (Swing Down Chariot)." Lee High School choirs use collaboration daily with each other, Mrs. Elliott (choir director), and Mrs. Prins (school accompanist). They work extremely hard, together, on their music as well as their sight reading skills, which are included as part of the scoring in the festival, plus their music performance.
There is so much talent at Lee, and we can't wait to show off their skills and talent!
El coro es acerca de colaboracion! Los dos coros de la Preparatoria Lee (Voces Mayores y el Cor de Concierto) asistirán al Festival de Coros del Distrito de la Asociación de Música Vocal de la Escuela de Michigan en febrero. Este será el segundo año, para las Voces Mayores y planean repetir el nivel alto de interpretación, para conseguir el Nivel 1 (Calificación más Alta) y asi poder asistir Festival de Coro Estatal en Mayo. Las Voces Mayores las canciones "Yo le Canto Todo al Dia," un Pedazo de Venezuela, y "Luna Agradable," un piesa a capela. El Coro de Concierto asiste por primera vez al Festival Concierto del Distrito este año y planean obtener la calificación Nivel 1. El Coro estará cantando una pieza de Mozart titulada "Viva!" y una espiritual llamada "Déjame Conducir (Swing Down Chariot)." Los coros de la Preparatoria Lee usan colaboración unos con otros, La Sra.. Elliott (directora del Coro), y la Sra.. Prins (acompañante escolar). Trabajan duro juntas en su musica, asi ven las habilidades de lectura, la cual incluye parte de la calificación en el festival, más la actuación.

Circle of Friends is a group which meets during lunch and recess, on Mondays and Thursdays, to learn about and practice good communication skills, including things like how to be a friend and reading body language. These students talked about using their eyes when communicating, specifically making observations. They discussed how it is important to "say what you see" by making comments and asking questions. They played a game similar to "I spy" called "I observe" to practice observation skills. The students and Mrs. Conrad (SSW) and Mrs. Clark (SLP) also practiced this skill by role-playing different scenarios. The girls loved to pretend to be teachers and demonstrated what happens when people do not observe their environments before communicating.
Círculo de Amigos es un grupo que se reúne durante el almuerzo y el recreo los lunes y jueves, para aprender y practicar habilidades de comunicación, incluyendo cosas de cómo ser un amigo y lenguaje corporal. Los estudiantes hablaron sobre contacto visual en la comunicación, en concreto hacer observaciones. Discutieron qué tan importante es "decir lo que se ve" hacer comentarios y preguntas. Jugaron un juego llamado "Yo espio" y "Yo observo" para practicar habilidades de observación. Los alumnos, la Sra. Conrad (SSO) y la Sra. Teachers, Mr. Van Over and Ms. Diaz, collaborate to meet the needs of all students. Each week, these teachers meet and group students according to ability on a specific skill and then create lessons/projects for each group. This week was adding/subtracting three-digit numbers with borrowing/regrouping. Maestro de EL, Sr. Van Over y la Maestra Ms. Diaz colaboraron para reunir las necesidades de todos los alumnos. Meet Sue Schumacher, Student Services Secretary. Sue has lived in the Godfrey-Lee district for 36 years, and has worked for the school district 18 of those years. Her husband, daughter, and son all graduated from Lee. Sue has been the Student Services Secretary since 2009, working closely with the Director of Student Services, and the Special Education staff, to ensure the district is in compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates. She also supports families in navigating through the special education process and helps them access support for their children. Sue enjoys seeing the families and children she helps in the community. Conozca a Sue Schumacher, Secretaria de Servicios a Estudiantes. Sue ha vivido en el Distrito Godfrey-Lee por 36 años y ha trabajado para el distrito escolar por 18 años. Su esposo, su hija e hijo se han graduado de Lee. Student Services continued:
Students at the ECC are learning to read and write using the MAISA units of study. First grade students recently finished the second reading unit which taught them many strategies to use when learning how to decode or sound out words. Students in Mrs. Thomas’ first grade class celebrated the end of this unit and their hard work learning to read words by taking time to read with Mrs. VanHaven’s Kindergarten class. The older students enjoyed showing off their reading skills to the younger students, while the kindergarteners enjoyed having a story read to them. ECC students have the opportunity to expand their literacy skills through a variety of interventions. One intervention offered to students who are learning to speak, understand, read, and write in English is an EL reading intervention. During this time, students develop their reading skills in a small group with an EL teacher. Kindergarten students were able to collaborate in sorting and matching the letters of the alphabet. They worked on sorting the vowel letters (a,e,i,o, and u) from consonants and they matched capital with lowercase letters. Students were able to communicate in English and, sometimes, in their native languages to work together to complete their work. First grade students had practiced reading a book about making cookies and further developed their reading skills by reading a recipe together and making cookies. Some students worked to put the months of the year in order, while others worked together to find Christmas themed words, on the walls throughout the ECC, and write the word next to the corresponding picture. Los alumnos en ECC aprenden a leer y escribir usando unidades de estudio MAISA. Alumnos del 1er grado recientemente terminaron la 2da unidad de lectura la cual les enseño muchas estrategias para usar cuando aprenden cómo descifrar o pronunciar palabras. Alumnos en la clase del 1er grado de la Sra. Thomas celebraron el fin de de esta unidad y su duro trabajo aprendiendo a leer palabras tomando tiempo con las clase del Kinder de Mrs. VanHavens. Los niños mayores disfrutaron mostrar sus habilidades de lectura a los menores mientras que los del Kinder disfrutaron que les leyeran una historia. Los alumnos de ECC tuvieron la oportunidad de expandir sus habilidades de literatura con varias intervenciones. La intervención EL es ofrecida a los alumnos que están aprendiendo a hablar, entender y escribir en Ingles. Durante este tiempo los alumnos desarrollaron habilidades de lectura en pequeños grupos con el maestro de EL. Los alumnos de Kinder fueron capaces de colaborar ordenando y encontrando las letras del alfabeto. Trabajaron separando las vocales (a,e,i,o,u) de las consonantes (el resto de las letras) y juntaron las mayúsculas con las minúsculas.Los alumnos pudieron comunicarse en Inglés y algunas veces en su lengua nativa y trabajaron juntos para terminar su trabajo. Los del 1er grado practicaron leyendo un libro acerca de hacer galletas y en un futuro desarrollar sus habilidades de lectura y leer una receta y hacer galletas juntos. Otros alumnos trabajaron poniendo los meses del año en orden mientras otros buscaron palabra con temas de Navidad en las paredes del ECC y pusieron las palabras en la fotos correspondientes.
Catapults, Cars, and Collaboration

Students in Mr. Vickers and Mr. Kaechele’s Integrated Physics and Algebra II class, at East Lee Campus, learned about velocity, acceleration, linear, and quadratic equations through the Project Based Learning themes of catapults and cars. Students designed, built, and tested catapults to launch golf balls to travel the greatest distance. They recorded the data of their launches and graphed the results in Desmos, an online graphing program, to analyze the results. Next, students designed self-propelled cars, using mousetraps, balloons, or rubber bands as a power source. Throughout these projects, students practiced communication, critical thinking, and creative innovation as they tested and tried different designs to overcome challenges. Many students took their projects home to improve them. Students gained confidence throughout the project, as they improved their designs for better results. The best part of the project was watching students work together, not only with their own team, but helping other teams with design ideas and construction.
Catapultas, autos y colaboración Alumnos de la clase de física y álgebra II de Mr. Vickers y Mr. Kaechele del Campamento East Lee aprendieron ecuaciones de velocidad, aceleración, lineal y cuadrática a través del Proyecto Aprendizaje Basado en temas de catapultas y automóviles.Ellos diseñaron, construyeron y probaron catapultas para lanzar pelotas de golf y recorrer la mayor distancia. Registraron sus lanzamientos y graficaron los resultados en Desmos, un programa de gráficos en línea, para analizar los resultados. Lo mejor del proyecto fue ver a los alumnos trabajar juntos, no nada mas en equipo, sino ayudando otros equipos con ideas de diseño y construcción. By working with representatives from GRCC and Lee High School, East Lee Campus was able to enroll two students in the Dual Enrollment program for the first time. Sylvia A. and Mitzi H. will now be starting their college experience by taking one class each, while completing their high school requirements. Mitzi is taking a Biology class with a Lab component, and Sylvia is taking a Civil Government class.
East Lee students visited Artiflex during the Manufacturing Week, hosted by KISD. During the visit, Armoni had a conversation with Ali McLeod, who is the head of Human Resources, and she was very impressed with him. She reached out to Mrs Bower to pass on contact information to Armoni, who then set up a meeting. Armoni was offered the job the day after that meeting. He was hired part time and was assigned jobs to help him become familiar with the company and give him a chance to finish high school. The first Monday after Armoni graduated, he went to full time (working 40+ hours a week). He will start an apprentice program in Tool and Die, as well as attend GRCC, upon completion of his probationary period.
Al trabajar con representantes de GRCC y Preparatoria Lee, Campamento East Lee fue capaz de inscribir a dos estudiantes en el programa de inscripción dual por primera vez. Sylvia A. y Mitzi H. estarán ahora iniciando su experiencia en la universidad tomando una clase cada uno, mientras que completan sus requerimientos de preparatoria. Mitzi está tomando una clase de biología con un componente de laboratorio y Sylvia está tomando una clase Gobierno Civil.
Los alumnos Campamento East Lee visitaron Artiflex durante la Semana de Fabricación, organizada por KISD. Durante la visita, Armoni conversó con Ali McLeod, que es la jefa de recursos humanos ella se impresionó con él. Ella se acercó a la Sra.
