Declaración del Artista

Dibujar y escribir nacen del mismo gesto de las manos. Los ojos no diferencian texto e imagen, los ojos exploran toda superficie que albergue sentido. Dispongo contenido en las hojas sabiendo que hay poder en el cambio de una página, en ese lugar tengo, o una posibilidad o un precipicio. Me siento compelido a concebir el libro como una tecnología de lienzos sucesivos. Su unidad de sentido es la secuencia, la cual busco y aspiro: que un signo afortunado anuncie pero nunca delate al siguiente.

Una tradición poética-visual nos enseñó a rimar viñetas, escribir en el cielo, dibujar con oraciones o mensurar la poesía en metros. ¿Acaso no podríamos hacerlo en kilos, casera? Una palabra pesada, emplatada, sabe mejor en la mixtura y el hibridaje. Buscamos nuevas expresiones y soportes para continuar esta loca costumbre de marcar con señas una superficie, quién sabe con qué ingenua esperanza de comunicación.

Artist’s Statement

Drawing and writing are born from the same gesture of the hands. The eyes do not differentiate between text and image, the eyes explore every surface that harbors meaning. I arrange content on the pages knowing that there is power in the change of a page, in that place I have either a possibility or a precipice. I feel compelled to conceive the book as a technology of successive canvases. Its unity of meaning is the sequence, which I seek and aspire to: that one fortunate sign announces but never betrays the next.

A poetic-visual tradition taught us to rhyme vignettes, write in the sky, draw with sentences or measure poetry in meters. Couldn’t we do it in kilos, homemade? A heavy word, plated, tastes better when mixed and hybridized. We look for new expressions and supports to continue this crazy habit of marking a surface with signs, who knows with what naive hope of communication.
