False Sonnet-Renga Written Upon a Funerary Tome
Hades and Letters, a religion, by Tanit and Persephone tremble, not-I as writing, communion.
I fall to the sonnet, trace the occasion, or come it from another, the fate, the whistle? The book of the mind gives the option:

level the dilemma and bury teeth-ink in the funeral tome: sacrifice of voices, syllabary that a supposed Who should so shriek.
The words flow to the sea. I fall to the sonnet: binary cliché, symbol, one is zero, corollary of shadows that begin to swim.

* This poem, which reverses the structure of the sonnet - and whose rhymes, verbal sharpness and evocations are by no means ingenious - was originally written in Italian as part of a multimedia installation. This installation was presented at the exhibition Isola… senza confini. “II edizione: Mediterraneo”, (Sardinia), Italy, 8-16/09/2008. In my curatorial text I spoke of Tanit, a Phoenician-Punic goddess who is named X centuries before Christ, in Sarepta, and who would later become Hellenic and Roman; a hypostasis of Astarte, Artemis and Kore-Persephone; in funerary motifs, she was drawn upside down. A wide variety of representations of Tanit can be found on the island of Sant’Antico, site of the exhibition. Finally: “renga” - a Japanese poetic genre of linked poetry written by multiple authors - refers to the collaboration with the other people who participated in the installation: Liliana Vergara (plastic artist) and Danela Stara (filmmaker).
