PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
Health CENTER RELOCATION | 79,000 SF TENANT FIT-OUT
2024 - Present

The Department of Health from Prince George’s County plans to relocate the Health Center from its current location to a newly acquired building in Greenbelt, Maryland. The project includes 79,226 USF across five levels, to be inhabited by 10 different clinical departments. The design team is delivering this project from Concept/Programming through Design Development.
After conducting surveys and interviews with each department, I assisted in creating the program for all levels based on clinical needs. I produced multiple space planning iterations for the building with programmed-in expansion space for the departments’ future growth.
The team indicated four key design drivers, wellness, inclusivity, trust, and sustainability, from client visioning sessions that greatly influenced the concept. The conceptual design is based on being “Classically Jubilant”. As this is a civic project in the greater Washington D.C. area, I am playing off classic civic architectural elements common to this region, such as coffered ceilings, columns, and arches, but with a modern and fun twist. I carried this concept through with a finish palette that mixes classical materials, such as terrazzo and marble-look, with playful pops of color.

Sunstone therapies
Psychological therapies for cancer patients | design guidelines
2023

The Adventist Healthcare group is exploring new approaches to wellness, emotional, and psychological therapies for cancer patients through innovative clinical trials using psilocybin to treat psychological distress. The ideal controlled environment was designed to enhance the patient experience, through soft furnishing and light controls to support traditional talk therapy and guided psilocybin treatments. After the initial location was a success, the Adventist Healthcare group wanted to grow its impact. A real estate strategy and design guidelines were created to support the franchise roll-out. The design goal was to determine what makes the environment uniquely “Sunstone”, and to guide decision-making in site selection and design. As part of the design guidelines team, I built the room typology standards based on the successes and challenges faced at the current location shared with us by the patients, doctors, and care team. I also helped create the furniture standards for the functional and aesthetic needs of the different user groups.

FURNITURE STANDARDS

The goal of the Pittsburgh International Airport was to transform an outdated terminal with a new vision infused with nature, technology, and community. The concept was built on a foundation of biophilic design of rolling hills and falling water of the greater Pittsburgh area.
I assisted the team in completing the construction documentation phase by designing the space layout and the finish palette for all public restrooms within the airport. I also worked with local artists to integrate their artwork into the project design per client request.
