CONCEPT STATEMENT
NEXT is a global technology company specializing in guided meditation practices and self-improvement through their app. For the design of their new satellite office located in Atlanta, Georgia, I focused on the wellbeing and health of the city and how that can translate to the wellbeing and health of the office. A unique landmark in Atlanta is the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum. The use of an arboretum directly connects the satellite office to Atlanta. The Atlanta Beltline was originally a historic railroad path that is now a multi-use trail that stretches 22 miles connecting 45 neighborhoods throughout the city, creating a way for people to enjoy the outdoors and connect as a community for the wellbeing of the citizens. Along this pathway, an organization called the Trees of Atlanta, has been working on the comprehensive revitalization effort to mitigate tree loss in the city. This is the largest urban redevelopment project currently in the United States, focusing on the health of the environment. I plan on using the Beltline pathway to create the major paths of travel in the building space and incorporating aspects of the major planting projects done by Trees Atlanta to different spaces in the office to bring a sense of wellbeing into the design. Continuing the idea of revitalization of greenery in the city and emphasizing wellness for the occupants of the office space, I included biophilic design through the use of natural materials and colors. The goal was to create a sense of calmness for the occupants and connect to the company’s purpose.

The trail of the arboretum is broken down into three key parts: two paths that interesect, the interesection point, and a path that surrounds the city. I placed the interesection point at the center of the building and then created the walkways that interesect at that point which are repeated on both levels. The walkway that surrounds the first floor is reflected on the second floor to incorporate the additional area of the floor plan that is in contract.

COVID PRECAUTIONS Placed throughout the floor plan in the open areas are round shaped sanitation stations with hand sanitizer, lysol wipes, and other disinfectants to encourage occupants to sanitize themselves and the surfaces they touch.
POSTURES The lounge areas have a variance of seating including a formal chair at a table, sofa seating, lounge chair with a movable work surface, and work pods.

Cork Flooring In circular form
Trees of Atlanta utilized dead, fallen, and storm-damaged trees as a habitat to the animal and plant life along the path to revive the forest. This will represent the in-between lounge areas for employees for a quick mid-day rest or “revival�. These areas will be placed on circular forms of cork flooring to give the feeling that one is sitting on a huge tree stump on the forest floor.
PROJECT : PERSIMMON WOODS Trees of Atlanta wanted to protect this forest as it is the oldest growth forest and the home to the largest American persimmon tree in the state of Georgia. Accents of green textured drywall are added to the finish of the traditional construction or permanent walls to emphaize the permanence of this forest in Atlanta.
PROJECT : BEECH COLLECTION This project resulted in a circle of beech trees surrounding a granite outdoor classroom or gathering place, to have an area of learning and work surrounded by nature along the path for citizens. This idea was reversed in the floor plan by placing greenhouses throughout the floor plan to create areas of nature surrounded by work.

Native azalea is Georgia’s State Wildflower. This collection is divided into Georgia Moon Series, fragrant white-blooming azaleas, and Georgia Sunrise to Sunset Series, warm orange, reds and soft yellow azaleas. The private offices will represent the moon series through its monotoned coloring to enhance focus and relaxation in private. The open offices will represent the sunrise to sunset series with its more vibrant coloring to enhance energy and productivity in an active zone.

Both open and private offices offer height adjustable workstations and seating. Additionally all stations have a footrest to further enhance the comfort of the occupant.
All lighting fixtures throughout the designed space are equipped with LED lights for a more energy efficient lighting design.
