The waiting crowd on the closing night of “ain’t too proud” depicting the Life and Times of The Temptations came ready for a showdown in “D” Town Sunday Night. You could tell by the way the generations filed in…took their seats so gingerly, stately and confident of a truly fine evening.
Ready! Set! Dance! Pat your foot! Snap your fingers! Dance! Move to the side! Bob your head! Put a smile on your face. Dance! Lights up, orchestra, action. And action it was! The world acclaimed Dallas Music Hall Fair Park belonged to the unstoppable tempting Temptations…. and let me tell you that place will never be the

do not ask me how the show was! Words are not enough. Yeah! It was all of that. It was of course … electrolysis charges on steroids! All you really had to do was think about “My Girl”, “Since I Lost my Baby”, “Just my Imagination” and my personal favorite “Ball of Confusion” which can only be defined as timeless. I was on “Cloud Nine” and deeply in love with my first husband when that song hit the charts. And “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” was upfront and personal when that cloud got foggy, overcast and dissipated. That’s the real American Story of Motown’s glory days, “The Temptations” … that sound, shaped our

legacy of poise and grace that has never been duplicated in the entertainment industry. Maxine Powell studied elocution with the Negro Drama League in Detroit. She taught dance, movement, self improvement and modeling classes. One of her models was Gwen Gordy Fuqua, Barry Gordy’s sister. Maxine was hired by Barry Gordy to train the acts that were on Motown’s label. Emphasis was placed on body language, etiquette, stage presence, diet, fittings, fashions, posture and diction. Her job was to “polish” the young artists of Motown into artists who could That Seem Like They’re Not Aging Earl page

excel in both the black and white world. She intentionally transformed a generation. All of the acts at Motown spent hours upon hours with Maxine Powell. I will write that story soon.
The storyline for “Ain’t Too Proud” was carefully crafted as meaningful stories should be. Otis Williams, who was born in Texarkana, Texas, raised in Detroit, is recognized as the founding and sole surviving member of The Temptations. Most of their accolades are planted in the memory banks of our minds. The entire audience was singing alone, missing a few
words. We know that Smokey Robinson played a major role in the songwriting success of The Temptations. Motown’s Barry Gordy told them to go back and come up with “another name”. Scores of fans actually remember the original fabulous “quintet” by name without studdering, i.e., Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, David Ruffin. The Temptations & Supremes Album still stands out as one of the bestsellers ever. As a typical fan, there was a tidbit that came as a surprise about these American Masters. Close to the end of the evening, Otis Williams (Marcus Paul James) notified us that there were a total of twenty-seven(27)Temptations in their lifetime. Oh, please, come to Broadway Dallas. Bring them Esterdavis2000@gmail.comback!!

activity and we are all feeling the consequences of that type of Ourleadership.jailsare overrun, understaffed, and falling apart. Our streets are plagued with violence and thievery because they know they can get away with it. Cowardice, corruption, or incompetence all yield the same result: more crime, more insecurity, more fear, which in turn drive higher stress in all of us until we snap or move somewhere else. Enough is enough. It’s time for bold, strong leadership for all of Dallas County, but especially for our black
Pleasecommunities.takethetime to get to know me between now and November 8th. I will absolutely be asking for your vote and for you to share my message with your friends and family. But more than that, I’m asking for your help. This city can be greater than ever, but it will take every one of us. We must come together around the values we hold dear of safe, prosperous communities, and work together.
I’m so excited to introduce myself to those of you I haven’t had the privilege to meet yet. I’m Faith Johnson and I’m running for Dallas County District Attorney. It is my great honor to be featured in Elite News because this publication is a testament to the longstanding and deeply rooted talent and thriving nature of the black community. But there have been great injustices in our land and it is time for new leadership. This is not about politics, this is about our way of life.
The black community has so much to offer our society and we cannot thrive and prosper if we are constantly buried under fear, oppression, and crime.
qualifications for the position. But today, I want to speak to you from my heart.
My love for this city and her people runs deep. I long to see justice truly served because when justice and the rule of law reign, all our people have the opportunity to thrive. Now, I’m talking about true justice and enforcement of the laws already codified and on the books. Our laws are solid, enforcement is not. There may be a few that need adjusting and I’m committed to that process where it makes sense, but we need enforcement and to deincentivize criminal activity. The current DA has activated and instituted policies that actually incentivize criminal
Don’t take my word for it—talk to your neighbors, the shop owners, the small business owners—ask them if they feel safer. Ask your grandparents or your aunts and uncles about how they’ve seen the city change. Ask them if they feel safe to leave the house once the sun goes down. The policies and lack of enforcement by my opponent are not serving us and our great city -- they're killing it. Lawlessness does not bring freedom and it certainly doesn’t bring justice.
Join me as we get to work and make this city a safe place for you and your family to truly thrive! Most sincerely, Faith Johnson, your next Dallas County District Attorney.

The City of Dallas has proposed a street rename change for a beloved matriarch and staple in the South Dallas community, Ms. Vestana Wollos. In 1912, Ms. Vestana Wollos was born on the corner of Romine Ave and Latimer St., where the Park South YMCA currently sits. In 1968, Mayor J. Eric Jonsson reached out to the businesses and citizens of South Dallas to support the proposed YMCA in South Dallas, Park South YMCA. Ms. Wollos showed her support by donating her land for the erection of the Park South YMCA. In 1970, the doors of the Park South YMCA opened. Until the 2020 pandemic, Ms. Wollos could often be found in the lobby of the Park South YMCA. On September 21, 2021, at the age of 108 years old Ms. Wollos passed away. To pay homage to her life and dedication
to the South Dallas community, the Park South YMCA Former Executive Director, Melanie “Tricey” Love and Park South YMCA Board of Members worked with The Wollos Family and Councilman Adam Bazaldua and his representatives on the proposed name change of Romine Ave. to Ms. Vestana Wollos Ave.

is pleased to announce his office secured a guilty verdict and life sentence in the first trial for the newly created Vehicular Crimes Unit
“The(VCU).bar
has been set. We are sending a message that this office takes vehicular crimes just as seriously as all other violent crimes. Vehicle fatalities are a major threat to the safety of people in Dallas County, and it is important we do what we can to change the behaviors of those at risk of committing these types of offenses,” Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot said.
On September 6, 2021, defendant Bobby Lee Murphy, 38, ran a red light and drove into oncoming traffic in an attempt to evade a traffic stop in Garland. He put dozens of motorists in danger, driving at an average speed of 99 mph until he ultimately slammed into a car being driven by 28-year-old Karla Rico. Rico was killed and her 10-year-old son was left in a vegetative state. The family’s dog was also killed in the Defendantcrash.
Murphy was found guilty by the jury after just 20 minutes of deliberation. They later returned a punishment of Life in Prison.

in this victory at trial on behalf of Karla Rico’s family.
“This defendant’s selfish choices caused the ultimate tragedy for Karla Rico and her family,” said lead prosecutor Andrew James.
“I’m grateful to the Garland Police Department for their hard work and thorough investigation - we would not have been able to obtain justice for Mrs. Rico and her family without it – and I’m grateful to the jury for giving justice to Karla Rico’s family and ensuring that this defendant will never have the opportunity to harm another innocent family again.”
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes
Unit (“VCU”) handles the most serious crimes involving vehicles such as Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault. From the moment the crash happens, the VCU is contacted by law enforcement and responds to the scene as needed to assist law enforcement with any legal matters that arise during the crash investigation. Vehicular Homicide cases are often some of the most complex and difficult cases to investigate and prosecute.

Happy HispanicNationalHeritageMonth!
National Hispanic Heritage Month(Spanish: Mes National Hispanic Heritage Month(Spanish: Mes nacional de la herencia hispana) is annually celebrated from September 15 to October 15 in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States.
Hispanic Week was established by legislation sponsored by Rep. Edward R. Roybal of Los Angeles and was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson in 1968. In 1988, the commemorative week was expanded to a month (September 15 to October 15) by legislation sponsored by Rep. Esteban Edward Torres (D–CA), amended by Senator Paul Simon, and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan. September 15 was chosen as the starting point for the commemoration because it is the anniversary of the Cry of Dolores(early morning, 16 September 1810), which marked the start of the Mexican War of Independence and thus resulted (in 1821) in independence for the New Spain Colony (now Mexico and the Central American nations of Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua) which became the Federal Republic of Central America.

History of MediterraneantheDiet
the Mediterranean diet in their lifestyle.History of the Mediterranean Diet
The Mediterranean diet refers to the concept of carefully jointed common food types and healthful habits, origins of which stem from the Origin of the Mediterranean Dietdistinct traditions of a variety of regions, such as Greece, Crete, Portugal, Italy, Southern France, and Spain. Its main goal is to enrich one’s life with the proper amount of fish, beans, grains, poultry, olive oil, and plant food to promote a healthy way of living.
The concept of this diet was developed in the pursuit of reflecting food patterns, which were typical of Crete, most parts of Greece, as well as Italy in the 1960s. It was first published in 1975 by Ancel Keys, an American biologist and chemist Margaret Keys. The diet finally managed to achieve widespread recognition in the 1990s. And it was Walter Willett and his colleagues of Harvard University’s School of Public Health. They came up with the most basic version of the diet, which further contributed to its popularity.
The General Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet
There are a variety of reasons as to why people living all around the world, and especially in the Mediterranean areas, have decided to incorporate
For starters, the diet includes a variety of healthy products in your daily food ration. Such as high quantities of different kinds of vegetables, such as tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, spinach, and cucumbers. Fresh fruits like apples, figs, grapes, melons, and bananas. High amounts of beans, nuts, and many types of seeds, such as walnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, and almonds as well as further enriching it with whole grains(corn, brown rice, oats, buckwheat and barley), olive oil, cheese and yogurt(including Greek yogurt), eggs, reasonable amounts of fish and poultry, limited amounts of sweets and red meat, and even one glass of wine per day,
By following the diet, the risk of getting a heart disease gets reduced by 25 percent. Moreover, it also aids in warding off Alzheimer’s disease and other drastic changes which are related to memory and thinking. It also reduces the odds of getting type 2 diabetes. Additionally, eating this way when a person is younger increases the chances of living past 70 without getting any chronic illness.
The final results concerning the benefits of the diet aren’t all that surprising as due to its healthy structure promoting low levels of trans fats, and abstaining from refined oils and highly processed meats and foods, it drastically drops the risks of several chronic or non-chronic illnesses linked to conditions such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
