During Women’s History Month, Abounding Prosperity Inc. and the City of Dallas Host Dedication and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Honoring Irene H. Trigg-Myers’ South Dallas Par
cutting ceremony in honor of the late, Ms. Irene H. Trigg-Myers, one of the founders of Abounding Prosperity, Inc., where the 1.2 acre Kimble Park will be renamed in her honor for her contributions to the Southern Dallas community. Commissioned by the City of Dallas as part of its effort to
redress greenspace disparities and revitalize historically underserved neighborhoods, the name change and dedication ceremony will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Kimble Park, 2215 Warren Avenue, Dallas 75215. Dignitaries from the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department, the Dallas Police Department Community Liaison, and other city officials will be in attendance to mark the celebration. State Representative Venton Jones will issue a resolution from the Texas House of Representatives, while Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson will issue a proclamation to honor this special occasion.
Vanessa Bell Armstrong and Tramaine Hawkins. Armstrong, best known by her solo album Peace Be Still, is a seven times Grammy Award nominee, Stellar Award winner and Soul Train Award winner. Hawkins has won two Grammy Awards, two Doves and 19 Stellar Awards. Ms. Trigg-Myers was a local community activist who had a passion for assisting families in their transition from subsidized housing to self-sufficiency. During her career as a property manager, she became an advocate for fair, safe and sanitary housing practices for families in need throughout Dallas County and nationally. Her work ethic earned her numerous accolades and stellar reviews from the Housing and Urban Development Board (HUD). Her advocacy work led her to lobby for change for low-income and affordable housing and property beautification on many levels. Renaming the park underpins this legacy.
Irene H. Trigg-Myers cofounded Abounding Prosperity, which is just a few miles from the park, on the very principles and morals that made her successful throughout her life; selfless vision and dedication to community. Abounding Prosperity Inc., a nonprofit organization, was founded to respond to social and health disparities devastating communities of color in Dallas County.

GOSPEL GREATS VANESSA BELL ARMSTRONG AND TRAMAINE HAWKINS TO PERFORM AT EVENT TO COMMEMORATE RENAMING OF KIMBLE PARK AND HONOR LOCAL ACTIVIST
Let’s face the facts, divorce attorneys are all over the DFW metroplex. However, they are not all created equal. There are those who practice in a multitude of legal fields and there are those who practice family law exclusively. There are those who work pro bono and those who don’t. But most importantly, there are those who you should put your trust in and those who you shouldn’t. In this article, I’ll give you five qualities you should look for in your divorce attorney so that you will be better able to pick the firm that’s right for you.
1. Responsive
Did you know that most client complaints about their attorneys are that they do not properly communicate? It seems like a simple thing, but the truth of the matter is not every attorney will give you the responsiveness you need. A good divorce lawyer knows that cases are stressful on clients and will do all they can to put you at ease. A good attorney won’t just read your questions and concerns in an email, but will do their best to address them as soon as they can.
2. Caring
There are attorneys who forget that counselor is a part of their job description. Tensions run high in a divorce, which means emotions often do as well. There will be times when you will need someone to give you general advice in addition to legal advice. That’s where a good
divorce attorney comes in. Any attorney can callously handle your case. However, a good one will get to know you and treat you like a person instead of a case number.
3. Strategic
A good divorce attorney also knows when to be aggressive and when to show restraint. If you have someone who is constantly chomping at the bit for a fight, you run the risk of getting in a drawn out case, spending more than you need to, and potentially getting a worse outcome. On the other hand if you have an attorney who bows down to opposing counsel, you could find yourself being left out to dry in a bad settlement. It’s imperative that you find a divorce attorney who knows when it’s time to fight, and when it’s time to settle. Not an attack dog, not a bunny rabbit, but a fox. You want someone who has your best interest in mind, and will work for it in the most efficient way possible.
4. Knowledgeable
It sounds like a no brainer, but a good divorce attorney knows the law. There are attorneys who take divorce cases, but do not practice family law exclusively. This does not mean they are bad lawyers, but it can mean they may not understand all of the nuances in the Texas Family Code and the relative case law. An attorney who does nothing but family law will be best to represent you in a divorce, because it greatly reduces your chance of being blindsided in Court due to a misinterpretation of a statute.
5. Timely
The difference between the success and failure of your case could be one minute. If your attorney misses an important deadline by just one minute, there is a significant risk that you won’t be able to make certain objections or worse you won’t
be able to present evidence at all. A good divorce attorney will plan out and monitor all of the deadlines in your case, regardless of whether they apply.
If you ever find yourself in need of an attorney for your divorce or for any family law matter; use these five traits to help you discern who is worth your time and money. During your consultation, ask their policy for emails and call backs. Ask if they are willing and able to help you settle a case or take it to trial if necessary. Ask them how much experience they have practicing family law specifically. If you find an attorney with these five qualities you will be in good hands; and if you need help finding an attorney with these qualities reach out to O’Neil Wysocki Family Law. I will be happy to show you these qualities in action.

TX. She understands the many challenges that black individuals face when it comes to buying a home. Many people of color lack the knowledge of understanding finances, credit, and assets. As an agent, Kera wants to create an impact in her community by helping them understand the importance of establishing a solid credit standing and the leveraging power of homeownership. To solve this issue, the Renters to Homeownership Program was developed.
The Renters to Homeowners Program was created to educate and prepare renters for homeownership. This 6-week program offers education about each step of the buying process, how to get started, and what you need in order to purchase a home. This free program is offered every quarter of the year and comes with a strategy call to each renter to help create an actionable plan to become a homeowner.
[Dallas, Texas, March 10, 2023] Did you know that only 12.5 percent of black Texans occupy housing units and 8.3 percent of black households own their home? From 1960 to 2022 the homeownership rate has only changed by 2 points. Black families are falling further behind on homeownership than any other ethnic group. DFW has a new Realtor that plans to change these numbers in the metroplex.
Kera Asberry is a Texas native that was raised in Mexia,
The vision of this program is to bridge the gap between the black community and other ethnic groups in homeownership. Kera plans to build relationships with people within the community and assist them in becoming a homeowner even if it is in the distant future. Together, let’s take the fear out of real estate by learning the power of owning a home.

“In this adaptation, when CJ declares he has “three eyes,” the Reverend’s Riddle challenges CJ to be a witness who discovers how “to really see” with his two eyes – but more importantly to discover “What’s the third “I” gonna do?”
“While riding the bus with CJ and Nana, we learn the value of meeting people where they are, and the joy of opening our hearts and minds to the experiences of others. With all that is happening in our city and in our world today, these are very important lessons for all of us.”
“Some of my best memories as a child included sitting at my grandmother’s feet on Saturday afternoons and asking what, I’m sure, felt like HUNDREDS of questions. She was always honest and incredibly patient with me - answering anything I asked - even when the answers weren’t always fun to hear. What an honor to share this experience now from the perspective of the grandmother. I hope that this show encourages those kinds of conversations between parents and their children.”
“Kids are inundated with so many advertisements of things that they ‘should’ have, and they develop this idea of like ‘I want, I want, I want.’ ... I felt like the grandmother was such a great vehicle for: ‘But you have, you have, you have.’”

D in the normal range may help. Still, there are challenges with the connection. “Sunlight improves both vitamin D and mood, so we wouldn’t know if it’s really the vitamin D improving the mood versus the sunlight improving mood,” says McTiernan.
of certain white blood cells, as well as increase the immune cells’ production of microbe-fighting proteins. Adults who have low vitamin D levels are more likely to report having experienced a recent cold, cough, or upper respiratory tract infection.
If you’re feeling low, you may want to get your vitamin D levels checked.
According to a study using rat brain cells published in July 2018 in Genes and Nutrition, vitamin D seems to play a role in the production of serotonin. Serotonin is a hormone that helps regulate mood and sleep per Stanford University. There are correlations between low vitamin D levels and mood disorders, research shows. What’s more, a study published in September 2017 in the Journal of Diabetes Research found that a vitamin D supplement improved the mood of women with type 2 diabetes (a group of people at a higher risk of depression than the general population, according to the Mayo Clinic), yet overall the data is mixed on whether vitamin D supplements for people with lower levels will prevent or help treat mood and psychiatric disorders.
There are many causes of depression, but Cleveland Clinic notes that depression and fatigue may be a sign you have low levels of vitamin D, and getting your vitamin
Myth: Vitamin D Supplements Lead to Weight Loss
While there is a correlation between obesity and vitamin D deficiency, as the NIH notes, there’s no scientific proof that taking a vitamin D supplement will help trim your waistline, says Michael Holick, MD, PhD, an endocrinologist and the director of the Bone Health Care Clinic at Boston University Medical Center.
A previous study found that when obese and overweight women brought their vitamin D levels up to a normal level with a supplement, while eating a low-calorie diet and exercising, they lost more weight than women who were also on a lowcalorie diet and exercising but were unable to raise their vitamin D up to the ideal level. Still, the researchers agree that it’s too early to draw any conclusions that taking vitamin D can help you shed pounds, because it’s still unclear whether a low vitamin D status is a consequence of obesity or in some way involved in its cause.
Having sufficient vitamin D, though, may help people live healthier lives, which could in turn help a person lose weight. “If bone aches and pains from a vitamin D deficiency keep you from exercising, and if vitamin D supplementation allows you to exercise more because you don’t have those aches, that could help you be more active,” says Dr. Holick.
To keep your immune system functioning at its best, you’ll want to make sure you’re getting enough vitamin D.
That’s because, according to Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, vitamin D may help mitigate the harmful inflammatory response
“Clinical trials have found that vitamin D supplementation can reduce the amount of illnesses that children develop,” says McTiernan, referring to past research on influenza. And a meta-analysis published in February 2017 in the BMJ yielded two points: One, people who took vitamin D supplements were 12 percent less likely to develop acute respiratory infections compared with people who didn’t. And two, the authors found that for those with a severe vitamin D deficiency, taking vitamin D supplements lowered their respiratory infection risk by 70 percent.
Because of the potential benefits to the immune system, some people have been quick to assume vitamin D could work as a potential COVID-19 prevention tool or therapy, but it’s still too early to say. According to Harvard, there is no good evidence on the topic because it is such a new virus. Still, they suggest it’s wise to keep your levels out of the low range.
One study, published in October 2020 in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, found that more than 80 percent

deficiency. Another study, published in September 2020 in PLoS One, analyzed 235 individuals infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus; the researchers concluded that improving vitamin D status in both the general population as well as those hospitalized with COVID-19 had the potential to reduce the severity of symptoms and death associated with the disease. Given the low risk of supplementation, if you have questions about taking vitamin D and proper dosing, it’s best to discuss with your primary care provider or a registered dietitian who is well versed in integrative medicine.
