2022 was exciting , eventful , and brought many surprises We can ’ t wait to see what 2023 will bring us !
It will come as no surprise that parking can be tricky, especially in areas where space is scarce.
Also, charging electric cars, which until recently remained a rare curiosity, is now beginning to pose quite a challenge
The hospitality industry is no exception, but its needs are specific. This is the problem that the founders of Share.P, a successful startup operating within the EHL Innovation Village, decided to solve.
"High operational costs, lack of real control over the occupancy rate of parking spaces, lack of flexibility of monetizing idle spots – enumerates Mateusz Wojdylo, CEO – The Share P system solves all such issues’’.
‘’Installation of our car park electronics takes just half an hour. At very little cost, we introduce
full rental automation with the option to dynamically rent parking spaces to external drivers Our system can be integrated with any hotel management software , so that, at the time of booking a room , a parking spot is assigned to the guest for a specific period of time ’’.
‘’ Upon arrival , the driver can use the app to open the garage door or use the EV charging station . All fees are tracked by the app and are paid by the customer directly, or added to the hotel bill ."
As Mateusz Wojdylo points out, the system significantly reduces the tasks performed by the hotel staff : " This month we installed our system in the car park of a « self check- in hotel » in Fribourg Its owners had no control over who was actually parking there and were losing potential profits because all available solutions were proving too expensive .
With Share P, they ' ve not only regained control of the car park , but they ' re also generating income thanks to doctors from a nearby hospital who are happy to make reservations on the app , instead of driving around looking for a free parking spot."
The system is also being used in the parking lots of companies that, due to the growing popularity of remote work , are no longer satisfied with the traditional monthly subscription model
Among Share . P ' s customers is Google , which has seen a large increase in the use of parking spaces in its office buildings . Employees greatly appreciate that they only pay for the actual parking time used .
The company is in the process of finalizing an investment round to fund international expansion

Please introduce yourself and tell us what you are doing now ?
JC: I ' m from Paris and I did the BOSC program , having graduated in 2019. Then , I continued with a Master in Entrepreneurship at HEC Paris and right after the master I directly created GOODVEST, a FinTech company based in Paris
The objective is to decarbonize the savings for French people and soon of the Europeans , and to allow individuals to invest for themselves and for the planet while respecting their values .
The company has existed for a little over two years We have a little over two thousand clients and manage 20 million euros . We ’re now a team of around twenty people based in the center of Paris .
What made you come to EHL?
JC: At first, I was very interested in the world of events and hospitality
What I really liked at EHL was the fact that there was a direct business dimension which is very important. In the classic French system , it ' s often a preparatory course followed by a grande école . In fact, preparatory school is an extension of high school . And what I really liked about EHL was that there were projects with companies right away
I worked with Accor and Metro We really got our feet wet in the field because I was also passionate about entrepreneurship and so that ' s what I was looking for at EHL . It was really the connection to the business from the beginning .
Let ' s talk a little bit about GOODVEST. Where did this idea come from ? Was there by chance an experience at EHL that marked you or was it really after your master ?
JC: Look , it didn ' t come from the Masters nor from EHL . It came from the confinement during COVID -19. We were all confined , so we couldn ' t spend our savings that accumulated and I wanted to find ways to invest in a responsible way
So , I was looking for solutions that existed on the internet and so on but didn ' t find a solution that corresponded to what I was searching for.
I decided to create GOODVEST in parallel to that I did some research and saw that the impact of savings was significant It is
We currently have an intern from EHL, and we will certainly have others in the future.
estimated that the average French person saves for about 10 Paris - New York flights per year So we had to find a more responsible and transparent solution
After EHL , you did a master ' s degree in Entrepreneurship at HEC Paris . Why did you decide to embark on this adventure ?
JC: I graduated from EHL at 22, I didn ' t feel like starting a company right away in a sector that was quite different from the hotel business .
So I wanted to continue my studies for a year I also didn ' t have any specific plans to start a company I just knew that I wanted to create one
And so that ' s why I chose to continue my studies for another year, because of the strong relationship between HEC and EHL
GOODVEST has been remarkably successful since its launch in September 2020. What do you think were the main drivers for this development ?
JC: I think there was a real opportunity There' s a market, there' s a real demand that isn ' t being addressed . There' s also a growing ecological awareness .
A few years ago , we were only interested in the impact of meat or the impact of transportation and now we are really interested in the impact of all the different sectors
And we realized that finance , in fact, is the engine of the economy, and all sectors are financed through investment. And so it ' s important to help sectors decarbonize as quickly as possible . So , I think there is both the awareness , the fact that there is no solution , and that we were able to quickly recognize this
Do you by any chance plan to take on EHL alumni in the future ?
JC: We currently have an intern from EHL , and we will certainly have others in the future
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years ?
JC: At the moment, we' re trying to make ourselves known as much as possible in France and to gradually become the reference player in France for responsible investment.
So , the objective is to establish this leading position in France for the next two to three years And then , for the next five years , to launch other countries in Europe , perhaps Switzerland , and to democratize responsible investment elsewhere in Europe .
And when we talk about international development, what is the key factor in choosing a market for GOODVEST ?
JC: This is a very good question . I think we really have to study the market, we have to study the competition Currently, we have similar players in the UK and Switzerland
We also have to look at the cultural and linguistic proximity. It ' s easier for us to launch in Belgium and French - speaking Switzerland than in Spain or Portugal . So cultural proximity and competition are the main criteria
What is the main challenge you face when you want to develop GOODVEST ?
JC: We are in a huge market. Even if we have more than 2,000 customers today, it ' s still very small compared to the market. So , the biggest challenge is to make ourselves known . That ' s why all invitations , all interviews , all events are good opportunities to get known
From your experience , do you have any advice to give your EHL colleagues to enter the professional world ?
JC: I think that you really shouldn ' t be afraid to dare If someone had told me when I was in my AP that after EHL , I would start a company in responsible finance , I wouldn ' t have believed it
So you shouldn ' t be afraid to jump in and go for it. There' s every chance that it will work if you put your mind to it
The biggest challenge is to make ourselves known. That's why all opportunities, all interviews, all events are good to get known.
And if you were to talk to Joseph in AP, is there anything specific that you would advise him to do in his professional future ?
JC: I don ' t know if I ’d have necessarily done things differently. I might have done an international internship as well in a non - French speaking country to improve my English
Do you have a message for the Alumni community, either from you or from GOODVEST that you want to share ?
JC: Don ' t hesitate to reach out to your network As soon as you need something and as soon as you want to give something too , I think it ' s important to keep close over the years
Is there anything else you want to add ?
JC: To keep an eye on the sustainable development and environment part, regardless of what business you ’re into Not only it is essential for the future generation , but also for business development It is becoming a criterion
And so it ' s always important to look at it and to be well informed , and to have a good CSR approach and so on
GOODVEST IS AN INVESTMENT SOLUTION COMMITTED TO THE ENVIRONMENT. SO THAT YOUR SAVINGS WORK FOR YOU AND FOR THE ECOLOGICALTRANSITION
How do you see the development of new technologies the hospitality industry ?
MC: The hospitality industry is notorious for low pay, long working hours , and emotional stress And many employees were let go during the pandemic to find new jobs . The industry is now facing a labor shortage that has become the top challenge This leads us to the following question : how can the hospitality industry address the labor shortage challenge ?
The industry needs to transform itself and become a place where people can find human interactions I don ’ t mean interacting with friends ( they can do this at home), but interacting with employees and customers . Consequently, employees ’ jobs are changing . Routine tasks , such as food ordering and serving , will become automatic Robots will work in the kitchen , such as inn Japan , where they have dishwashing robots
As a concrete example , I am convinced that hotel housekeepers are becoming extinct. Nobody wants to be a housekeeper. So we need to find other solutions , such as robots . But developing housekeeping robots takes a lot of work . Think about how quickly housekeepers can move into a room , scan the environment, and know what needs to be done ( what are customers ’ belongings , and what are the sheets or towels that need to be removed ). Humans can do these tasks in seconds , but for robots , even opening a door will take time .
How do you see the development of human interaction with the introduction of new technologies in the hospitality industry ?
MC: In the past few years , because of the pandemic , Airbnb and alternative vacation rental places grabbed 1/3 of the accommodation business . Food delivery apps also grew in popularity and replaced (at least for the short term ) traditional in - dining experiences Why would people want to go to hotels or restaurants ? Well , it all comes down to
How can the hospitality industry address the labor shortage challenge?
The industry needs to transform itself and become a place where people can find human interactions.
entertainment. Loneliness is an epidemic in itself, and Covid only worsened this situation . People sought interaction and entertainment between employees and customers as well as between customers This interaction has become THE reason for going out.
For instance , look outside the traditional hospitality industry, such as co - working spaces People have laptops and desks at home , yet they go to coworking spaces . Why do they go? Because of the network and the opportunity to socialize with others For instance , look outside the traditional hospitality industry, such as co - working spaces . People have laptops and desks at home , yet they go to coworking spaces . Why do they go? Because of the network and the opportunity to socialize with others .
Take a look at gyms as well Many of us have exercise equipment at home , YouTube videos with athome workout ideas , etc . So , why don ’ t we exercise at home ? Because we crave interaction . I highly believe this is an opportunity for the hospitality industry. And , because EHL is rooted in hospitality, we should be the pioneers of this initiative . This means communicating and shaping human interaction as a core business offer
How can EHL contribute to the development of human interaction and technology synergies?
MC: First, it comes down to technology within our industry EHL should reach out because we are industry experts and know about standard operating procedures The industry is trying to automate , but businesses need to remember the hospitality aspect of being a home away from home .
Second , we need a framework for companies to offer more human interactions When you go to a hotel , there are things called ‘actual service ’ ( such as the front office) and the ‘support services ’ ( such as the valet parking and concierge). But the problem is that new trends such as Airbnb can replace most of these core functions . So why should customers continue to go to hotels ? It all comes down to employees and customers producing the experience together to create cherished memories This is what people are willing to pay for ; this is the real added value
So , how can EHL develop this framework and share it with companies ? We can reflect on our EHL experience . For example , we are good at co - creation . We have team projects where students work closely with people they aren ’ t necessarily close with Our concept revolves around the fact that you cannot stand out by yourself You have to co - create to succeed
People sought interaction and entertainment between employees and customers as well as between customers.
This interaction has become THE reason for going out.
You can also take the AP experience as another example . AP is all about team building . Outside of classrooms , we have lots of events , a multicultural community, passionate employees about the hospitality industry, and the greater EHL community ( students , alums , and colleagues ). So we bring the hospitality culture here to create our own culture It ’s so rewarding to see that New members tend to fit in effortlessly Honestly, we often take for granted just how much our staff and students enjoy being a part of our unique
community It ’s amazing The framework we propose will include the design element One example is our curriculum As you know, at EHL , most students follow the undergraduate program And here ’s the thing , over the years , the curriculum has remained similar, focusing on the business and hospitality industry.
This allows us to easily have conversations with previous and new students because we share a similar mind map This shouldn ’ t be taken for granted For example , when comparing EHL to prominent universities worldwide , some have the same 4000 students , but these students study, say, 20 different programs . This makes a common conversation quite challenging , even quasi - impossible . But for us , we all share similar experiences and love the same thing , hospitality
Just as well , students live on campus and have lunch together This makes such a difference ! I recently read an article about creating human interaction , and eating together was listed as #1. Some of us even have breakfast together, dine , and drink . Take MBar, for example . We love it because we can have spontaneous interaction
And it doesn’t matter if we graduated two or twenty years ago. As AEHL, we have so many similarities that it helps us bond almost instantly.
MC: I have a touching story. Last year, I visited a hotel in Zermatt operated by two alums . The thing is , I didn ’ t know that their parents were EHL alumni . When I met them , the father asked first : “ How are the students ?”. It warmed my heart This level of caring and supporting our students is unique to EHL
Finally, the framework may include technology. For example , EHL is strong in its social media efforts , emails , and even this eJournal for alums . All these initiatives keep us connected . I find it fascinating that
The industry is trying to automate, but businesses need to remember the hospitality aspect of being a home away from home.
We need a framework for companies to offer more human interactions.
every class and Stamm has its own Facebook or WhatsApp group ; some even have their own active Instagram page .
I firmly believe this is our purpose we are heroes of human interaction We are experts at creating human interactions and can help other industries . And in the end , human interaction is not only important for businesses such as the hospitality industry but everywhere , especially now that we are recovering from the pandemic . EHL can contribute to and facilitate companies in other industries to develop human interactions
How can our alums learn and adapt to these changes?
MC : Great question . It ’s essential to be up - to - date . A fantastic way to do so is by reading Hospitality Insights . The people behind it know the audience , industry trends , and what to expect from hospitality in the future
Recently, I was told that one of our alums hosts an event where alums pay a fixed fee to attend The thing is , when you arrive , you cannot sit with your friends . At first, everyone hated this because , think about it, you ’re paying and want to sit with whomever you came with . But the host created something special , an interaction among guests Imagine this You sit with a stranger at a paying event, but by the end of the evening , you have new friends And that ’s what the future will be Our students are masters at this because not only do they know how to create fantastic events , but they all have excellent social skills .
So now we need to consider implementing this concept in restaurants and hotels Because , if you think about it, these will no longer compete on food quality or decoration Now, we compete in human interaction So the number one thing people should do is start imagining events to cater to this demographic that feels lonely. And the idea is that once you build a solid reputation , other lonely people will come .
You ’ve been in EHL for 21 years, and you know many people. What has been the most rewarding moment?
MC : That ’s a great question . To me , it ’s definitely when alumni come back to see me . Seeing old , familiar faces is wonderful because it ’s always bitter - sweet when students graduate I never
I firmly believe this is our purpose— we are heroes of human interaction. We are experts at creating human interactions and can help other industries.
really know if I will ever see this person again, mainly because our students are from all over the world. But I realized our campus is the perfect place to meet again.
Alumni always let me know when they stop by, and I started taking pictures with them to celebrate the reunion. With that, I’ve created the hashtag #maggieswalloffame. These days when alumni see me, they instantly say, “we need to take a photo!”.
EHL has something compelling, excellent social support and love through our daily interactions. And this is something money cannot buy.
It’s essential to be up-to-date. A fantastic way to do so is by reading Hospitality Insights. The people behind it know the audience, industry trends, and what to expect from hospitality in the future.
Please introduce yourself and share a few words about you.
Since my childhood, I've been more and more passionate about sport and its values
I also love helping out with student life at EHL, which has given me the opportunity to be in EHL Mountain, organizing the Sports Challenge twice, as well as being in our beloved EHL Rugby Committee since the beginning of my Bachelor
What made you decide to stay at EHL for your internship and why this department specifically?
GS: At first, my choice was to do an internship worldwide My first choice was Canada, to do it either in Montreal or Vancouver. But when I saw the job offer on the job platform of EHL, I was very interested because the alumni network is one of the school’s greatest strengths. I was also intrigued, not by the internship itself, but by working at EHL as a Staff instead of as a student, and about the experience it would bring me
I was extremely curious about what I could bring to the department from the point of view of a student and the ideas that come with it, also being curious about what the department could bring to me. I’m lucky to have joined a fantastic team with very different personalities but with an absolutely grandiose spirit and generosity
What has been the most rewarding moment or thing about this internship until now?
GS: Oh that is a very good question! I had the chance to work on multiple events during this internship. My first was the Inauguration of our new EHL Lausanne Campus which was no small affair Then, there was the Alumni Stamm event, where I had the occasion to collaborate with the Stammlady of the Lausanne/Vaud Stamm, Jenna Racine.
GS: I’m currently in BOSC 4 and I have the honor to do my internship at the Alumni & Industry Relations Department at the EHL Lausanne Campus I was born in Lille, where I grew a passion for the Hospitality world despite the fact that my parents do not work in this area
I also had the occasion to work Student & Alumni Apéro with Emilie Avenarius who is our Alumni Coordinator from the Student Council
Finally, the two greatest events in which I partook were the Career Fair and the Back to the Roots Events That one was probably the most rewarding event of all because it allowed me to connect with a lot of Alumni from all around the world including the Stamms ’ representatives . We worked countless hours on this event to make sure it went well To support such an event, while helping bring back a sensation of joy and
We worked countless hours on this event to make sure it went well. To support such an event, while helping bring back a sensation of joy and friendship that we haven't seen on campus since the Covid, was a real source of pride for the team.
friendship that we haven ' t seen on campus since the Covid , was a real source of pride for the team .
Why was this event so unique or so memorable for you ?
GS: Well , first of all , the Back to the Roots was the first time that we ever gathered almost 2000 Alumni on our new campus in Lausanne so this in itself is already unique .
Plus , I had the chance to meet people I haven ’ t seen since I did the Junior Academy in 2018 before “ La Ferme ” was deconstructed
Another thing I really liked about the preparation of this event was that everyone was able to add a personal touch , a personal idea . It would have been difficult to do the same with other events like the Career Fair because , as an ambassador of professional excellence , we have to respect the standards we have set, allowing very little room for personal touches in the preparation
You know, Einstein once said ,
“ For an idea that does not first seem insane , there is no hope ”. I share his point of view. That ’s what my years at EHL pushed us to do . To not be afraid to innovate and to think outside the box , to me , is the core of what we do at EHL
I ’ ll have many opportunities to use what I ’ ve learned during these past 6 months . I ' m happy to say that I ’ ll be taking the position of Events Coordinator at the Student Council next semester so having had the opportunity to see both sides of the student and the staff life will be very useful
If you could describe the alumni community to your peers , what would you say ?
GS: If I had to describe this community in one word , it would be “ Family ”. In addition to being the EHL’s most important value , the AEHL community is unique on its own .
We now have over 25 thousand alumni worldwide and it doesn't matter whether you know someone or no, whenever I see an alumni, they’re always friendly and always ready to help the network Even when I have to write emails, from the first contact, the conversation becomes amicable and we get to know each other. It's really amazing to see such a welcoming community and, as a current student and hopefully a future alumnus, this is really impactful
My only advice for my peers would be to not hesitate to get in touch with the network The opportunities to meet and learn about people's lives, their experiences, what they did before and after EHL are astonishing. And, having seen both sides, I realize how much of EHL’s strength lies in its Alumni Network It would be a shame not to explore it
How could you describe the network to students who haven't had the chance to discover it themselves yet?
GS: No school in the world has such a powerful network. We help each other, we care about each other. I saw it in the Alumni department.
I would highly recommend APs and BOSCs students to participate as often as possible in the events the alumni organize, because that's where they can make the best connections, to meet new people and, who knows, find job opportunities.
Plus, it’s always great to get feedback from alumni on student life and hear about their experiences during their years at EHL I don’t think I can recall any real conversation I had with an Alumni without mentioning “la Ferme” or the “Fête Universelle” *laughs*
What were your impressions of this community when you first started participating in these events?
GS: What strikes me most is how approachable everyone is The Network always has room for its students.
There is no limitation, no individual groups, no hierarchy system that separates them because we are all part of the same family and we all share the same values and the same spirit We are curious, innovative, trying our best as much as possible, but we also learn when to relax and enjoy time with family and friends around a pint of Guinness
My only advice for my peers would be to not hesitate to get in touch with the network. The opportunities to meet and learn about people's lives, before and after EHL are astonishing.
What was your favorite event during these 6 months?
GS: I particularly liked the events that were organized with the Lausanne Stamm I had the pleasure to work with some of the committee members and events such as "Afterworks” were really interesting.
These allowed us to see old acquaintances and to network with other alumni, while also giving us the possibility to get a taste of our future life as alumni, to learn what a Stamm was and what it means to be an EHL alumni
From the Alumni side, we were a source of information concerning EHL nowadays and about the new Campus It’s amazing to see how interested and curious everybody is They asked me what my position was in the department and why I had chosen this position I really felt welcomed
I was very well integrated within the team, within EHL, and within the Stamm in Lausanne. I was able to make lifelong contacts and lifelong friends, so it's really really a unique opportunity for which I am eternally grateful
Your internship will end soon. How will you continue to be involved in the life of the school after your internship?
GS: I would love to! Of course there won't be a week where I won't pass once in the office to say hello to my future former colleagues so we can take coffee breaks together and have a good chat
Now entering my final year of my Bachelor, I’ll do my best to continue to get involved in all the Student life activities as well as joining the Student Council.
The thing is, to fulfill my duty in this role, I’ll have to leave the EHL Rugby Committee Plus, I’ll have plenty of chances to continue to collaborate with all committees thanks to the Student Council Finally, I'll do my best to stay in touch with our dear Alumni team and with the staff that I've been lucky to work with.
Any last thing you’d like to add?
GS: I would mainly say a huge thank you to the team, to the department, to the staff who have allowed me to progress during this whole adventure since July 2022. Those past few months working at their side has been an incredible journey.
They allowed me to progress on my own, on the professional side in a way that I could never have hoped for before So a huge thank you to them for their investment and for all the memories they have allowed me to create during this time and I hope to be able to stay in contact with them for as long as possible.
