SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS and BUS ATTENDANTS NEEDED!

THE NORTH COLLINS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT has an immediate need to fill permanent & substitute positions in our Transportation Department.

Bus Driver applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age have a good driving record , already have or be willing to obtain a CDL class “B” license with a P & S endorsement, pass a background check, physical and drug screen. (Options available for CDL class “C”- call for more information.) Free Paid Training to get your CDL provided to the right candidates. Bus Driver starting pay- $17.50 per hour. Bus Attendants must be a minimum of 19 years of age & pass a background check. Candidates for all positions must be dependable and enjoy working with and being around children. Our permanent positions involve working a split day: 6am-9am & 1:30pm-4pm (for example). Benefits include: paid health insurance, flexible spending account, paid sick & personal time, perfect attendance bonus, overtime availability, NYS Retirement Pension Plan. Our substitute positions allow you to pick work as it comes available. We have work available at many different times of the day including field trips, sports runs (from 3:45pm on) and even work at times on weekends. Substitutes can choose what they want to work based on what is available. Work 1 shift a week or 1 a month!

Tom Warner and John Kelley won the inaugural North Collins Public Library chess tournament, in their respective divisions, adult and teen. More than 20 people participated in the event. The tournament took place at the library over two days in January. The library's chess club, which began in August 2021, meets every Wednesday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with players of all ages and skill levels. Everyone is welcome to join and play for free. Recently, the North Collins Varsity Basketball team traveled to Franklinville and came away with a 66-44 win over the host Panthers. Derek Ebersole led all scorers in the game scoring 26 points. He also had 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Matt Sweet scored 18 points, had 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Asher Parnietzke scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds. Walter Ebersole had 5 points and 2 rebounds. Daniel Downes had 2 points in the game, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks. Josh Glosek had 2 points, 2 rebounds and an assist. Zach Quiter had 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Scott Keen had 1 point and 2 rebounds. Everyone on the team played great defense and every player contributed to the team's victory. News from Southtowns Catholic School

To celebrate Catholic Schools Week here at Southtowns Catholic School, we have been having fun with themed dress-down days such as: "Dress as You Dream Job" and decades day. In the afternoons, we have had entertaining activities for the students and staff to participate in. We saw the Principal and Assistant Principal get pied in the face by students, we shook things up a bit and did a teacher swap, and there was a school-wide game of BINGO. We even had a student vs. faculty basketball game where the students ultimately took home a win. The teachers did not walk away empty-handed, they went home very sore and very tired today (we do have amazing teachers here!) Congratulations to our students!

Ellen L. Szal, age, 87, of Eden, New York, passed away January 26, 2023 She was born on July 22, 1935 in Buffalo, New York. She was a daughter of the late Fred and Ernestine Kunderman. She is survived by her children; Lawrence (Constance) Szal, Laurie Gard and Terry Szal. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her sister, Joan (James) Renaldo. Besides her parents, Fred and Ernestine Kundman, Ellen is predeceased by two sons; Gary and Jerry Szal and a brother Fred Kunderman. Family and friends called at the Laing Funeral Home Inc., 2724 W. Denise Lynn Powless (Parker), Jan 26, 2023 of the Cattaraugus Seneca Territory at the age of 71 Years. Born Sept. 7, 1951 in Gowanda, NY lived on the Cattaraugus Seneca territory for many years returning in 2022. Beloved wife of the late Robert B. Powless for 29 years. Mother of Debbie (Kevin) McCarthy of Pearl, Mississippi, Cassie Powless (Bob Waltz) of Seneca Falls, NY and the late Patrick Parker. Grandmother of Damian Hicks, Sage Waltz, Mara and Robert McCarthy. Sister of Wade, Christopher Thomas and Bruce Parker. Denise was predeceased by her parents Betty (John) Thomas and Clarence Parker. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Denise lived and worked in Houston, Tx for over 47 years and worked in Buffalo and Houston hospitals for over 50 years. Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Kaminski) Zulawski; loving father of Sharon Zulawski, Susan (David) Schreiber, James (Susan) Zulawski, Michelle (Christopher) Podpora, Pamela (Ed) Gabel, and the late Christine Zulawski; cherished grandpa of Katelyn (Eric) Wastl, Eric (Hanna) Schreiber, Bradley Schreiber, Jessica and Lisa Zulawski, Craig, Keith, Kevin (Morgan), and Kimberly Gabel; adored great-grandpa of Brandy, Rhett, Elizabeth, Chase, and Allie; dear brother of Nancy (late Frank) Gallaway, Thomas (Mary) Zulawski, and the late Julie Frydrychowski; also survived by in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
