This year is off to a great start for the Boys and Girls Club of Eden-Lake Shore

Our owned Eden Site had air conditioning installed, new computers, fresh paint, new flooring, and new bathroom stalls. Our school site at Lake Shore has added new programming items for craft, sports and STEM projects and our older members are enjoying new recreational items

New and exciting programming has been added to both Clubhouses, increasing the retention of our members daily attendance and enticing past members to rejoin We have implemented a new staff training program to ensure both sites are safe and fun

Peter Holtz Schwert of Eden, NY, passed away on June 5th, 2023. Peter is the beloved son of Deborah (Foley) Schwert and the late M. Peter Schwert. He is survived by his loving sisters Jennifer L. (Steven) Nassivera, Amanda D. Walden, and Eunice W. Schwert, his nieces Elizabeth M. Chentfant and Jillian M. Nassivera and his grandniece, Victoria D. Hammond. He is the grandson of the late Albert J. and Eunice (Williams) Foley and the late Harmon and Margaret (Holtz) Schwert. Peter is also survived by numerous cousins, with whom he enjoyed everlasting friendships and wonderful memories. Peter was born on June 21, 1961, in school at Eden Central and eventually graduated from St Joseph’s School for Exceptional Children, in Dunkirk, NY. During his time there he became

Eagle Scout level badge, and at Special Olympics events. Peter was an avid outdoorsman, spending many happy hours particularly enjoyed his yearly Evelyn Lake in Canada for the elusive ’Grandpa Pike’. Peter’s many hobbies included reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing golf. Peter traveled to Hawaii and Las Vegas on several occasions. Perhaps his greatest passion was cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Barbara G. Di Liberti, 94, passed away on May 25, 2023. She was born on February 17, 1929 at home in North Collins, NY, to C. Leo and Teresa (Miller) Gurney. She is survived by her daughters Victoria Maxwell, Barbara Di Liberti, Susan Collins, Mary Di Liberti, Margaret (Andy) Goodman, Charity Di Liberti, and Julia Di Liberti; 14 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David Victor Gurney, her sister Joan Frances Gurney in infancy, and the grandparents and six aunts and uncles who helped raise her. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday June 24, at 11:00 at St. Thomas More Church, Elgin. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the time of Mass. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-5:00 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
