DUNK's after-school education program offers students additional learning opportunities beyond conventional school hours. Its purpose is to supplement and enrich the knowledge and skills students acquire during regular school hours. This program is particularly advantageous for students who need access to these resources in their homes or familiar school environment. Overall, DUNK's after-school education program is a crucial resource for students from diverse backgrounds and ages, ensuring they have equal access to the educational resources necessary for theiracademicsuccess.

The Playmaker education program, or the youth empowerment program, relies on a peer-to-peer learning approach. It draws inspiration from the empowerment model established by our partner GAME in Denmark, which is based on the core life skills defined by the World Health Organization. This model tackles significant societal challenges and operates across three levels - Individual, Group, and Community - to facilitatethecomprehensivedevelopmentofGhanaianyouth.

LOCATIONS

Jamestown is a vibrant community located in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. It is situated along the coast of the Gulf of Guinea and is known for its rich historical significance and cultural heritage. Jamestown, also called Old Accra, has a diverse population and is home to many youths.

In Jamestown, our centre is the central hub for our organization, serving as the primary community centre. It encompasses a wide range of projects that the organization focuses on, including child protection, inclusion, women's and youth empowerment, and various others. An impressive 50-60 children and youth attend the centre daily, with a gender distribution of 25% female and 75% male. Moreover, we are proud to have a diverse community, with 3% of attendees being individuals with disabilities. We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of over 40 trained youth volunteers who contribute their time and efforts to the centre's activities.

JAMESTOWN

Agege is within the Ablekuma West District in the capital city of Ghana, and it is located in the Greater Accra Region and encompasses several communities. The district is known for its diverse population and various social issues. The youth population plays a vital role in shaping the district's social fabric and contributing to its development.

Our centre in Agege is a valuable asset to the community, serving as the sole community centre in the area. It is worth noting that the centre holds a remarkable achievement as it boasts the highest number of female participants among all our centres. With pride, 40% of the attendees are females, while 60% are males. Moreover, we are fortunate to have around 20 dedicated youth volunteers who selflessly contribute their time and efforts to the centre's activities.

Operating under the guidance and support of two esteemed DUNK alums, the centre in Agege works closely with the principal centre in Jamestown to ensure smooth operations and maintain alignment with our organization's values and objectives

AGEGE

Nima-Mamobi is a vibrant community in Accra, Ghana's capital city. It is located in the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, one of the administrative districts in the Greater Accra Region. NimaMamobi is a densely populated area known for its diverse population and lively atmosphere.

The Nima Centre stands as a symbol of the essence of DUNK, and it holds a special place in our hearts as it was on the playground our founders once played. However, there is a pressing concern that this centre, which has become a vibrant hotspot for the community, may face the risk of being transformed into a private business. This is a critical issue as Accra grapples with the scarcity of community spaces. The fate of Nima hangs in the balance, and DUNK and the community must advocate for the local government to preserve our community spaces, which are essential for the development of children and youth.

On average, the centre registers a participation rate of 15% females and 85% males. The Nima program is effectively implemented by two accomplished DUNK alumni who receive invaluable supervision and support from the Jamestown Centre.
