Baltimore and Nike’s iconic AF1 are forever tied. 40 years ago, when the beloved shoe was launched, it was its indescribable impact in the Charm City that, for lack of better words, “saved” the shoe and allowed it to manifest into what it’s become today. To celebrate 40 years of this powerful and special connection, Nike and DTLR have partnered up for a meaningful campaign paying homage to the cultural heritage of the shoe and the icons who wore it.
To showcase each generation of Baltimore, we teamed up with a select few entertainers and influencers that represented the “OGs,” the “Gs” and the “BGs” as we helped tell the AF1 story through their lenses. It was the older generation that did the leg work of course, but the Gs and BGs adopted their own experience with the AF1 and continue to hold it in the same regard as the ones who started it.
JOINED Forces by joining the right voices, together we successfully portrayed the generational story of the AF1 and why it’s still the heat that joins forces.

GLORILLA ALBUM SIGNINGS
DTLR Radio always works with emerging artists right before they become superstars, and it’s safe to say we struck again. Partnering with CMG Records, we hosted three back-to-back-to-back album signing events with one of the hottest new artists in the game, Glorilla! From Nov. 12-14, we took over our DTLR 52nd + Market location in Philly, followed by our new store at Prospect Plaza in Hartford, Conn., before closing things out at our Camp Creek shop in the ATL. With the release of her new project, “Anyways, Life’s Great,” Glorilla’s fans came in all varieties to meet the bubbling star, from the young kids to the older generation and everyone in between. Rapping and dancing with the fans, taking pictures, and signing autographs, “Big Glo” (as her fans refer to her) is on her way to the top.

Celebrating the MADE in U.S.A. 990v6
Everyone knows how vital the DMV area is to the NB 990s, and DTLR has been a proud vessel of that importance for decades. That’s why when it came time for the highly exclusive NB 990v6 to be released, our great friends at NB partnered with us to host a pre-launch event that the Washington, D.C., area wouldn’t forget. On November 3rd at Focus Social Club in D.C., we did just that. With the “who’s who” of the DMV in the building, mixed with bumping music, top-of-the-line food and beverages, an exclusive look at the new 990v6 and so much more, this certainly was an unforgettable event. The very next day, the shoe was officially launched nationwide, and the excitement from the night before continued on.

KODAK BLACK
ALBUM SIGNING
On November 2nd, DTLR Radio and Atlantic Records partnered to host an exciting album signing event with superstar artist Kodak Black near his hometown of Miami! Celebrating the release of his brand-new album Kutthroat Bill Vol. 1, tons of fans patiently waited outside of our East Hialeah location in South Florida to meet the man of the hour, Kodak. Discussing their favorite songs from the album, figuring out what they were going to say to him, and rapping bars of their own, these fans were ready. Hosted by DTLR Radio’s own Fadam Got Da Juice, Kodak strolled through and hung out until the minute the store closed as he took pictures with his fans, signed copies of his new CD, and celebrated the album release the proper way.

Boxers Tony Harrison and Alicia “The Bomb” Baumgardner of Detroit Michigan opened their hearts and gym to donate fresh produce to families in need. With another 20,000 pounds of fresh produce ready for distribution, the two boxers teamed up with DTLR staff in the Grand River area of Detroit to give back to families in need. We partner in this city bi-monthly for food distribution and it is always well received by the community, and we will continue to fill voids where we can as it relates to the neighborhoods considered food deserts where our stores are located.

At our recently opened Northwood Commons store, we distributed 5,000 pounds of fresh produce and 300 turkeys to families in the Northeast Baltimore community. Baltimore natives and recording artist TMC the Don, the creator of the viral Park Heights Strut, Bunkey Jr, and radio personality DJ Quicksilva and his family, all pulled up to assist us and our local community partner The Movement Team with the giveback. Line began forming 2 hours before the event and items were distributed within an hour of beginning. Special thank you to the staff at DTLR Northwood Commons, the Baltimore Police Department, The Movement Team, 93.9 radio and the countless other volunteers that took the time out of their day to join us!

At the small enclosed, outdoor garden, The Urban, located in Overtown, Miami, DTLR joined forces with one of its long-standing local community partners, TEES Youth to bring the community the 3rd Annual Season’s Feedings. With over 20,000 pounds of fresh produce, 250 boxed hot lunches and 150 turkeys, we were able to feed over 600 families. Purple Leaf experience provided the ambiance engulfed in the tones of harvest. Greens, oranges, yellows, and browns enticed the venue providing a welcome home feel for attendees. A long dinner table sat in the center of the space for individuals to sit and enjoy their hot lunch, surrounded by the loving energy of the volunteers and the sounds of family. Families of all backgrounds lined up an hour before doors opened to ensure they wouldn’t miss the vibes! Special thank you to 305 Films, House of Wings, Headliner, Tomorrowland, and all of our other community partners for joining us this year and we look forward to next year!
NET TOGETHER
fashion • art • music
The worlds of art, fashion, and music will always collide. DTLR epitomizes those three pillars, which led to the first-ever “Net-Together” panel event that we hosted alongside RG Entertainment on Nov. 25 at Focus Social Club in Washington, D.C. Our goal was simple: create a networking “get-together” featuring some of the DMV’s elite artists, fashion creators, musicians and everything in between. It’s safe to say we succeeded and then some.
Our panelists included well-respected musician, actor, and philanthropist Anwan “Big G” Glover, DTLR’s very own fashion designer June Sanders, and revered artist IMean Art, with the likes of our very own DJ Quicksilva and DJ Two 4our handling the 1s and 2s. The discussion was powerful, informative, and certainly helpful to our several guests in attendance. If you were looking for a place to learn a ton about the entertainment world, while networking and partying, the DTLR “Net-Together” event was the place to be.

40TH ANNIVERSARY COLLABORATION
Today, DTLR is one of the leading sneaker and streetwear retailers in America with over 250 stores in 19 different states, but it wasn’t always that way. The brand first opened its doors in Baltimore in 1982 and quickly gained a reputation for being a purveyor of in-demand footwear styles – it’s been that way ever since. This year marks the 40th anniversary of DTLR, and to celebrate, the retailer has teamed up with Timberland to rerelease the duo’s exclusive wheat-and-red 6-Inch Boots from 2012.
Initially launched to commemorate DTLR’s 30th anniversary a decade ago, this limitededition color-way boasts a premium full-grain nubuck upper done in Timberland’s classic wheat tone. The tonal base is accented with luxe red hits, which dress the laces and padded leather ankle collars. Embossed Timberland Tree logos appear on the lateral heels, completing the upper.
Moving downward, you’ll come across Timberland’s classic lug rubber soles. In a nod to the release’s celebratory nature, DTLR’s 40th-anniversary branding appears on the hangtags, as well as on the boxes.
BLACK REFLECTIVE EXCLUSIVE RELEASE
Following the success of the recently released 40th Anniversary 6-Inch Boot, Timberland and DTLR have again joined forces to bring back another coveted 6-Inch Boot from the archive.
This exclusive pair was first released back on Black Friday of 2014 and was limited to just 2,400 pairs. Luckily, if you missed your opportunity to cop them back in the day, you’ll have another shot at acquiring them this November.
Like the original release, this limited-edition 6-Inch Boot comes covered in buttery black nubuck, which is seam-sealed and insulated with PrimaLoft to protect your feet from the elements. From there, reflective 3M hits are added to the ankle collars and laces. Playing off the reflective details, metallic-silver Timberland Tree logos are embossed onto the lateral heels.
SURROUND SOUND OF FASHION
On November 13th, DTLR celebrated our 14th annual Surround Sound of Fashion show in Chicago, IL, hosted by DTLR Radio’s Tiara Laniece and DJ Commando. In partnership with Power 92 Chicago and Prysm Night Club, DTLR created yet again another fashion motion picture day party with over 1,000 guests in attendance, as well as performances by Chicago’s own Danny Boy and Dream Chaser’s artist Tafia. This year’s highlighted brands included New Balance, Timberland, Nike, Brand Jordan, and Puma, with models styled by our very own DTLR merchandising team.
The entrance of the venue featured a DTLR-branded 360 photo booth and ice sculpture. In the upstairs suites, VIP attendees were gifted 100 DTLR swag bags, which included DTLR-branded shot glasses, DTLR-branded towels, and hooded sweaters, courtesy of New Balance. This sold-out event already has the city talking about what we will do for our 15th annual fashion show!
