DTLR, in partnership with New Balance, presented a donation to nonprofit District MotherHued, which benefits less fortunate millennial mothers of color and their families. We were ecstatic to present a $15,000 check to, the DMV’s premier organization for millennial mothers of color, ahead of the upcoming Mother’s Day holiday. The donation was in partnership with New Balance, as we set aside proceeds of our DTLR exclusive shoe, 990v3 “GR3YSCALE,” sales for a donation to a local nonprofit.
DTLR and District Motherhued share a mission which aims to help single, millennial mothers of color by sponsoring their families’ needs, including groceries, furniture, and clothing. District Motherhued, founded in 2016, is dedicated to creating a regional space for millennial moms of color to connect. District Motherhued’s mission is to engage with mothers while empowering and equipping them with resources and support.
The Momference® is powered by District Motherhued ® – the premier organization dedicated to creating experiences and providing resources for (millennial) moms of color based in the D.C. Metropolitan area.
The Momference® is the premier, full weekend conference for bomb brown moms boasting a celebrity keynote, regionally and nationally acclaimed mom influencers, panels, workshops, vendors, and top-tier, multi-cultural focused products. The Momference® champions all things For Us, By Us and #BlackMomMagic. The Momference® is selflessly produced by a #MomSquad composed of 30 moms.
The Momference® was conceptualized to fulfill not only the regional demand for District Motherhued® events, but to also provide a nationally acclaimed #BlackMomMagic experience. DTLR Community Outreach is an annual partner for the fitness portion of the event. This year we introduced our brand partner New Balance to the Revolutionary Rest: Sunday Sweat Wellness Experience.
We fitted the Mom Squad in the new 990v6 shoes so they could lead wellness the activities in comfort and style. Over 150 moms participated in Xtreme Hip Hop Step, Afro Jazz, Meditation + Sound Baths and a Praise & Worship Walk. This weekend was full of well-deserved rest, education, and empowerment for Mom from all levels of society and we look forward to supporting this organization every year with the necessary work they do for our communities.
We are committed to putting resources back into your neighborhood and with your purchase of this DTLR Exclusive, proceeds will go towards a local non-profit, Girls For A Change . Thank you for helping us do small things with great love!
The DTLR x New Balance 2002R “Lovers Only” is the last installment in our series of releases dedicated to the DMV area, with previous versions including the 990v4 “DMV” and the 992 “D.C.” This sneaker pays tribute to all the things we love about the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The accenting colors are inspired by the many markers that bring life to Virginia including two sets of laces – a cream set and a royal blue set. There are hits of blue taken from the state flag, yellow that represents the unending highway lines, and bold black-and-red blocking taken from the welcome sign that lets everyone know “Virginia is for lovers.”
“Not all of us can do great things but we can do small things with great love.”
Our Dallas region’s management team hosted their 1st Annual Mother’s Day Community Outreach Event.
The team was able to impact the store’s community positively. With the DJ providing the vibes, and us giving out free snowballs we were able to draw in more community members. They gave out roses and gift cards to all the mothers shopping with us. They were even able to purchase groceries for two mothers.
This event was a major success for the community, and we are looking forward to hosting many more.
Experience it was! We invited 20 juniors and seniors from the Dallas area to experience and celebrate their accomplishments with complimentary brunch, mocktails, & IG-worthy photo moments!
This event was to increase our Juniors’ & Seniors’ social capital. They were able to network with Baddie Brunch members (age 32+) They also hosted an Identity and the Molds of Culture Activity, which is a Self Portrait, Mirror Reflection. The activity included the Paper Mirror, where you write words describing yourself in other eyes that you have adapted on your own, then on the Physical Mirror write words describing the way you feel and see yourself. This was an amazing experience for our youth that we look forward to supporting in various markets.
The return of Lit Lobby was one to remember!
DTLR Radio brought back our beloved Lit Lobby event where we take over the lobby of the Aloft Hotel here in Arundel Mills, MD to host a fun networking mixer event featuring a different special guest. For this go round, we invited the free-spirited Sukihana and afro beats hitmaker Afro B to celebrate their new single “Casamigos”.
With a full crowd taking over the hotel, fans and local tastemakers poured in as the event was getting started. About halfway through, Suki and Afro B pulled up to meet the crowd, take some pictures and chop it up with attendees, all before their sit down with our host Fadam for a live Q&A interview. Discussing the new single, how these 2 connected and more.
DTLR Radio’s own Fadam Got Da Juice handled the hosting duties with DJ Scottie B on the 1s and 2s. We had delicious catering and the bar created 2 different Casamigos drinks deemed “The Suki” and “Afro B” for a nice added touch.
DJ Quicksilva, close friend and affiliate of DTLR Radio, is back with in the freestyle-hosting game as he continues his newly launched Spit That Fire freestyle series. Taking place here at the DTLR Radio Studios, Quick invites a new artist each week to come through and showcase their bars over a popular industry beat. Continuing this month strong, the legendary DMV host calls upon some familiar local names as he invites Fat Trel, Noochie, Big Cruz and more to come show us what they got. Stay tuned for more as we have more on the way!

As a part of the Timberland brand 50th-Anniversary celebration, they committed to giving back to various communities, specifically to the youth. The brand offered several design workshops to bring youth into boot design and building led by their own Designer Chris Dixon.
We were honored to partner with them on their Philly stop. This one-day design workshop truly sparked the imaginations and ambitions of diverse young designers of tomorrow.
The Timberland® brand aims to help diversify the professional design community. While Timberland offers apprenticeships and job opportunities for emerging adult designers, they believe that inspiring younger minds to imagine creative new possibilities for their future, will help ensure an abundance of diverse design talent in the future.

We partnered with various organizations at the end of High School Basketball season to elevate their All-Star Showcase events. These showcases were established to serve as a memorable and celebratory event to honor the achievements and mark the end of the high school season for area student-athletes
We will continue to provide an opportunity for high school students to display their basketball skills one last time in front of college scouts, their peers, friends, and family members. Such an event can help create lasting memories, strengthen the sense of community, and bring people together to celebrate the accomplishments of our region’s basketball community!

DTLR Sports alongside community partner The Movement Team, hosted the first of its inaugural Beasts in Cleats football event.
Forty high school football players were invited out to test their skills with local trainers and coaches. The private event was held at Randallstown High School in Baltimore.
The day opened with an introductory lunch that explained NIL rules and advice on social media etiquette. Current collegiate players spoke to the students about the next level and a special guest from NFL Films spoke to the students about opportunities in football outside of the gridiron.
The Movement Team provided lunch, pre-workout, mid-way point smoothies and dinner along with a 28-foot trailer that served as hub during breaks.
Once outside, players got to experience participating in the 40-yard dash, vertical, broad jump, 185 lift and shuttle run, along with position specific drills. Their times and attempts were recorded and shared with their respective coaches, as a teachable moment for athletes to understand what skill set, they can build upon for the upcoming season.
Baltimore Ravens RB Gus Edwards made a guest appearance to encourage the players and share some motivational words. Despite the rain, the players enjoy the day on the gridiron and were grateful to receive insight on areas they can improve upon for the Fall 2023 football season.
Hundreds of kids gathered at the Dwight A. Moseley Field in Northeast D.C. Saturday to practice some baseball. They were there for the first-ever “Ceph Christie Baseball Camp,” held in honor of a 17-year-old star athlete that died last August.
Ceph Christie, a gifted baseball player, who was named DC High School Baseball Player of The Year in 2022, was killed in an apparent boating accident on August 5, 2022.
DTLR provided hydration stations, giveaways, and music to curate the day with over 300 kids registered for the free event. It was paid for by the Perfect Game Cares Foundation, which puts on camps across the country. The camps, which cost approximately $50,000 each, according to the foundation, bring MLB athletes to talk to the kids. Former professionals such as Dimitri Young and Luis Gonzalez were there at the D.C. event.
Under the Education pillar of our movement, it is only right that we show love to some of the teachers in our community. The National Education Association describes National Teacher Week as, “a week for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.”
Teachers play a critical role in educating and shaping our children, the future leaders of our country. Kind, patient, hardworking, dedicated, and understanding professionals help mold our children and guide them in positive directions. We entrust our children with teachers, and they affect their daily lives.
DTLR celebrated teachers by gifting them with swag and a $500 gift card for them to enjoy at their leisure. Teachers were selected based on the Mission 1865 campaign in which they were encouraged to decorate their doors/ classrooms celebrating Black culture. DTLR was able to award teachers in Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago, and the DMV.
