Last year, we teamed up with the bold, iconic star athlete Angel Reese to participate in our DTLR x Nike AF1 40th anniversary “FORCE” campaign.
We knew the Baltimore-born champion was a star-in-the-making back then, and now, she’s a world champion! The LSU Women’s Basketball program are the 2023 national champions and it was Angel who helped lead the charge.
Earning a double-double in each game this season, Angel was a force throughout the entire March Madness tournament. Now, her and her squad are at the top of the totem pole. Always being unapologetically herself, it’s amazing to see how far Angel has come since DTLR first worked with her up until now. Can’t wait to see where she goes from here! Congratulations to Angel and the entire LSU Women’s Basketball program!
PURSUING OPPORTUNITIES WITH EXTRAORDINARY RESOLVE
DTLR Community is a proud title sponsor of the annual IBIM Girls’ Annual Empowerment Conference. I Believe In Me Girls (“IBIM Girls”) is a mentoring and leadership development program dedicated to building self-esteem, and leadership skills in girls ages 8-18.
Believe in your P.O.W.E.R. is an interactive, all-day enrichment workshop that we sponsor annually. The acronym P.O.W.E.R. stands for, pursuing opportunities with extraordinary resolve.
The event was designed to empower girls and young women to identify their dreams and passion while equipping them with the proper tools to assist in igniting the
power they have within. This years’ theme was Mind, Body & Beauty! The activities’ theme, and focus encompassing this event were to promote and activate the POWER, PURPOSE, and POTENTIAL of every attendee.
The day was brimming with speakers, open discussion, artistic and social encounters, as well as guided, hands-on activities. The promise and experience of the event was to educate, inspire, encourage, and unlock the creativity, power, purpose, and potential of our young women that will become our future leaders. Every year this event grows in attendance and exceeds all the organization’s goals, we look forward to this continued partnership.
Every year DTLR Community Outreach partners with the staff at Ballou High School in Southeast DC to help them give the young ladies an intentional experience to celebrate their womanhood, possibilities, and beauty with our community during Women’s History Month.
This year’s theme was Healing Starts
Within! It included sessions with licensed therapist, Ms. Courtney Chanel, who shared her book “The Affirmation Book” and ways to cope and deal with life moments.
Next, we transitioned to a session guided sound bath of yoga and meditation with a local instructor. Each student received their own yoga mats to continue what they learned at home. We ended the event with a chat and chew that included food from a local catering company and a panel of influential Women from all over the DC metro area.
HEALTHY . OPTIMISTIC . OUTSTANDING . DETERMINED .
This month’s Community Champion initiative featured founder of the Chicagoland nonprofit, Gyrls in the H.O.O.D. Foundation. The organization hosted its Grand Opening event with grocery giveaways, community resources and more, along with a closet giveaway event where community members are invited to “shop” for free clothing, shoes, household items and more.
To the founders surprise we attended the events with donations of baby items, groceries, shoes and apparel from DTLR and volunteers to help where needed. We also presented a check to the organization, recognizing the important work they are doing in and for their community.
Gyrls in the H.O.O.D.’s mission is to increase positive reproductive health outcomes amongst adolescent females residing in urban areas considered the “hood”. This 501c(3) nonprofit organization that takes pride in meeting the basic needs of Chicagoland gyrls. Her organization has engaged and served hundreds of gyrls across the city through education, empowerment, events, and we look forward to offering our continued support so they can continue to reach thousands more.
Our annual partnership with the Fab 5 Foundation in Atlanta, GA is nothing less than amazing. The Glitter & Goals Vision Board Party is dedicated to inspiring the minds of vibrant young girls, which is always a phenomenal experience that has catapulted the hopes, dreams, and goals of youth attendees.
Focused on building and nurturing young minds, The Fab 5 Foundation along with special guest empowered, motivated, and provided mentorship to the girls in attendance.
The Fab 5 Foundation is a non-profit, 501c3 organization founded by Atlanta radio personality Jazzy McBee. Affectionately known as “Miss 10 til 2”, Jazzy McBee is the most sought-after personality in the South. Her strong love for family, community, and supporting youth has driven her to start The Fab 5 Foundation. We are proud to partner with a person and organization that focuses on nurturing and developing the minds of young girls with a strong emphasis on confidence and higher education.
As part of our Activism pillar, we sponsored a trip for 150 students from several Atlanta Metro-Area schools to travel to Selma, AL, in memory of the 58th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Students marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, a National Historic Landmark, and the site of a key march for voting rights during the civil rights movement. We also visited other historical sites, including the Rosa Parks monument, and the homes of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Ralph D. Abernathy, and Nat King Cole.
Through this moving education experience, students of all ethnic backgrounds were inspired to respect and appreciate the power of their vote. They were alongside dozens of organizations and had an opportunity to hear the commemorative speech of President Biden.
This event is a continuation of not only our Activism mission but also a continuation of our nationwide “Mission 1865” campaign, which is inspired by the year that the 13th Amendment was passed and ratified by Congress to abolish slavery, provided opportunities and experiences for students and communities to learn about and celebrate African American history and culture.
One of the biggest days of the year in the sneaker world is Nike’s infamous Air Max Day, taking place on March 26. As we do every year, DTLR showed up and showed out across some of our biggest markets to celebrate the iconic day.
This year, the theme for Air Max Day was “Maxxed Out,” so you know we took our activations to the next level. In Washington, D.C., we teamed up with Air Lounge for an evening of fun festivities. Hosted by King Flexxa, we had it all –free food and drinks, bumping music, Air Max and DTLR 40th anniversary trivia, gift cards, giveaways and so much more. The place was packed from start to finish!
Across the Midwest, our events in Cleveland, Durham, and Detroit all followed suit. Whether it was the many special guests at Club Anejo in Cleveland or 9
One 9 in Durham, or the five-hour celebration in Detroit that had the whole city excited, it’s safe to say DTLR did it big for Air Max Day ‘23.
The legendary DJ Drama stopped by our DTLR Radio studios this month (3/20) for a new interview with King Flexxa. To close out the month, DTLR Radio’s own Kyle On The Mic had the wonderful Alex Vaughn and Jai’Len Josey swing past the Unruly/SprayGround Studios for a new interview on DTLR Radio. While currently opening up on Ari Lennox’s AGE/SEX/LOCATION tour, Alex and Jai’Len discuss what the touring life is all about, how they balance it all from city to city, their favorite moments so far, and much more.
They both also discussed their new music and other collabs they have in store for 2023, their growth as an artist, and more. Toward the end of the interview, Kyle made sure to hook these two songbirds with care packages courtesy of our friends at New Balance. Check it all out below!

Recently, DTLR formed an exciting new partnership with undefeated boxer Jaron “Boots” Ennis and his promotions company Boots Promotions. While Boots is on a major come up himself, he’s simultaneously focused on launching the career of many others.
First up in that initiative is Ismail Muhammad, who’s debut fight took place this month in ATL. The week leading up to the highly anticipated bout, DTLR hosted a press conference at our DTLR Camp Creek location to get everyone excited. Once again hosted by Fadam Got Da Juice, Boots, Ismail and the Boots Promotions team came through to meet various media
folks, field questions about Ish’s upcoming fight, what Boots has on the horizon, and much more.
Both boxers sat down for an interview on DTLR Radio, answered questions for the media and got focused and ready for Thursday’s fight. We’re also happy to report that Ismail won his match with a first round knockout! Stay tuned for what we’ll be a lengthy career for Boots, Ish and the whole Boots Promotions team.

We took over our Camp Creek DTLR location the night before his album dropped and had fans of all sorts eagerly awaiting to get in. Upon Hunxho’s arrival, it was nothing but excitement.
While enjoying some complimentary food and drinks, fans got to hear the album a bit early, meet and take pics with Hunxho, and embrace the upcoming release. Hosted by DTLR Radio’s own Fadam Got Da Juice, this was yet another memorable event with our 300 Ent. Family.

D’s new single “Against The World,” featuring Fivio Foreign is officially out now and we trekked down to DTLR 52nd + Market in Philly for the festivities. The young fans were lined up outside the store hours before D and the crew arrived.
Once they got there, it was mayhem – in a good way of course. Kids started breaking out their infamous Philly dance moves, reciting their favorite D. Sturdy lyrics, and of course, eagerly lined up for photos. Philly’s own DJ Don Will handled the 1s and 2s, while DTLR Radio’s own Fadam Got Da Juice hosted the event.

Manuel’s new album is already making its well-deserved rounds across the industry and DTLR Radio’s happy to help kickstart that wave.
