That’s a wrap for the 2022 BET Awards, and wow – what a weekend it was! DTLR was live in Los Angeles for all the festivities, and it is safe to say this year’s BET Awards weekend was one of the best yet. Fadam Got Da Juice and DTLR Radio were a part of the highly exclusive Radio Room, where (alongside the biggest radio stations in the country) we had the opportunity to interview all the top artists and influencers in town for the weekend. Our partners over at Sergio Tacchini and Sprayground provided us with gifts to give out to our special guests, which was a highlight, to say the least.

To close out the weekend, on Sunday (June 26) DTLR partnered with EMPIRE Records for their annual BET Brunch — a known staple event that takes place every BET Awards weekend. Set on the luxurious rooftop of the Godfrey Hotel in Hollywood, the sun was shining, the food and drinks were flowing, and the music was bumping, courtesy of our very own DJ Quicksilva. DTLR set up shop in the private gifting suite, where we had an intimate experience with the special guest attendees. In the gifting suite, we conducted more interviews for DTLR Radio and gave out a slew of gifts from our partners at Kappa. From the likes of Lamar Jackson, Too Short and so many others, the most popular artists, tastemakers and celebrities were in the building.

BRO DAY 2

re • baltimore

2022

The Black Running Organization (BRO) serves to organize, educate and condition the Black community based on running as a practical demonstration of unity. BRO holds weekly community runs, youth empowerment programs, and community service projects throughout the Greater Baltimore area. BRO’s slogan is “LETSGROW,” which simply means collective development. BRO Day is a worldwide celebration that encourages the Black community to run. This annual event brings together running clubs from the DMV area for a morning of exercise, empowerment, and fun for all ages. This local partnership is special to DTLR’s mission, as we are focused on the physical health of our communities. We understand that with everything going on in the world today, the importance of movement through exercise is a priority for all. Unfortunately, not every community has access to outdoor tracks or exercise equipment, which makes local groups key to showing people how to utilize the space where they live. This partnership has aligned perfectly with the Dare To Live Right health initiative. We will continue to support this movement, and others alike in all the DTLR regions.

PROM

LOVE STORY 2022 DTLR showed an abundance of #PromLove to the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy and William Penn High School as we hosted their official 2022 Senior Proms.

Founded in 2011, The Jalen Rose Leadership Academy is a tuition-free, open-enrollment high school serving 410 scholars in Northwest Detroit, founded by former NCAA and NBA superstar Jalen Rose, who is also a Detroit native. DTLR DJ and Hot 107.5 Detroit personality Vintage Twon served as prom host for the evening. William Penn Senior High School is a large, urban, public high school serving the City of York Pennsylvania in York County. William Penn students have access to a wide variety of clubs, activities, and an extensive sports program. DTLR Hype Man KYLEONTHEMIC served as prom host for the evening. The high school is conveniently located only a few blocks away from one of our newly remodeled DTLR stores, making it the perfect community partner.

DTLR’s Dare To Live Right mission is to create an environment of inclusion while making a difference in the communities we serve. Under the Community pillar of our movement, it was only right that we show extra love to some of the men in our community doing some AMAZING work. To show gratitude for some amazing men in the Chicago, Cleveland, and Atlanta areas, we hosted a brunch to thank them for being pillars in our communities, and for their selfless service and tireless dedication to others. Dare To Live Right wanted to celebrate them with their families, as a critical reminder that although they hold many titles, they are indeed A Father 1st. With our love for the brand and the actual abbreviation for a shoe we as a company hold near and dear, we gifted each Community Champion a new pair of Air Force Ones (AF1), along with a special plaque. This event was full of fun, food, and celebration as we showed brief highlight videos of the fathers in their community element for their families.

EBRATION

The goal of the A Father 1st event was to rebrand the men of our community in every way. We must change the narrative – we want to create a new vision for the role of our fathers and lift up those who work to give back every day! The vital role of fathers makes a difference in the success or failure of our communities, and we aim to give various men a platform to be seen and heard in all our regions. In Atlanta, we partnered with the renowned Cam Kirk Studios to provide 50 fathers with a photoshoot with their children. All fathers were gifted complimentary photos, breakfast, custom DTLR frames to store the photos, and a branded USB storage drive full of their family photos. Let us not allow this celebration be limited to one day; if you know a father who dedicates their time to the community especially, send them a special “thank you,” for they are valuable to us every day.

GRAND OPENINGS BACK YARD BBQ KICKBACK

On June 10, DTLR officially opened shop at 132 S George Street in York, PA, from 3-7 p.m. We celebrated with a bang, hosted by DTLR Radio’s own Kyle On The Mic. We had the Back Yard BBQ Kick Back, which consisted of free hamburgers and hotdogs, hot tunes from DJ Show Tyme, games with DTLR gift card prizes, and much more. George Penn High School students who attended the event were eligible to receive free gift cards upon presenting their school IDs.

WHO IS DTLR? On June 24, DTLR officially opened up a new store location in Manchester, CT where we hosted an exciting grand opening event. From 5-8 p.m., we had the entire store and surrounding area on lock. The event was hosted by 93.7’s own DJ Meechie, who kept the vibes right all throughout the day. We teamed up with the Bars on I-95 team as well, who was live hosting an exciting “Who is DTLR?” freestyle competition. From local artists and tastemakers, we had some exciting entries. With giveaways flowing all evening, gift cards and other prizes, our new friends and store-goers in Connecticut had a ton to be excited about. We cannot wait to see what we end up doing throughout the years with Connecticut, but it is safe to say this: if they did not know ‘“Who is DTLR?” before, they surely know now!

JUNE TEENTH CELEBRATION AT FOR OAK CLIFF • DALLAS •

DTLR hosted the 2nd Annual Juneteenth Festival at the For Oak Cliff Community Campus. We choose to honor Juneteenth with a community celebration for the whole family, featuring free food, games, a live DJ, an on-site job fair hosted by DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit), and educational activities for young children provided by Dallas Independent School District and The Perot Museum. Additionally, there was a voter registration drive to educate and help individuals register in Dallas County. The event was full of free food and fun activities, such as water slides, bounce houses, balloon animals, and face painting. We also held games such as dominoes, spades, and UNO. Being that a lot of the community does not know the history of Juneteenth and why we celebrate, we decided to create a life-size book with the timeline of how and why it recently became a holiday. Our life-size Juneteenth history book not only outlined the Juneteenth timeline but also highlighted the local incarcerated – because, in lieu of the event’s theme, we are not free until we are all free. The QR code on the back of the book encouraged attendees to sign a petition for the Second Look Act, which supports a developmentally appropriate justice system that increases public safety in Texas. This was truly a community-wide event that was informative and fun for the whole family.

JUNE TEENTH COMMUNITY CLEAN UP • ATLANTA •

SCRAPPY, Recording Artist

DTLR’s Dare To Live Right mission is to create an environment of inclusion while making a difference in the communities we serve. By working collectively, we aim to create programs to uplift and revitalize our underserved communities. Our last Refresh was held in partnership with The Book Bank, Keep Dekalb Beautiful, and Fostered Foundation to commemorate Juneteenth. Each and every volunteer was intentional in attending our community cleanup, which is part of our ongoing “Dare to Live Right” community initiative. Among the participants were recording artist, Scrappy, Commissioner Larry Johnson, and award-winning writer and producer Cyhi. We aim to help ensure communities are safe and clean to cultivate a new generation of leaders who take pride in the communities DTLR serves. These bi-monthly clean-up projects will continue in neglected inner-city areas and partnered with local organizations to gather volunteers and do our part in refreshing specific neighborhoods. We will continue to do our part by Refreshing our space, as we Dare our communities to Live Right.

WAY

As we know, most of our stores are in communities that are deemed food deserts. We have a mission to educate our communities on the importance of healthy eating, as well as providing them with those healthy options when we can. Our Dare To Live Right initiative encourages our communities to be more health-conscious. To thrive is to prosper and flourish; and we want all our community members to truly do just that – starting by helping them develop and maintain healthy eating habits, and providing resources to give some relief to residents. We will continue to donate and partner with hyperlocal nonprofits to provide fresh produce and nonperishables in our communities.

SILENT PARTY SCHOOL INVASION DTLR, Urban Fetes, and Chicago Public Schools created a partnership throughout the 2021-22 school year to bring “The Silent Party School Invasion” to over 60 schools, reaching more than 20,000 students in the city’s south and west sides. The purpose of this party is to incentivize and celebrate students with perfect attendance and good grades with a surprise silent party. We provide students with food, music, 360 photo booths, DTLR gift cards, and promotional item giveaways. This campaign created a demand from teachers and principals city-wide, and we have already started booking dates for the next school year. Be on the lookout for DTLR’s Chicago Park District Summer Camp Invasion.
