“It ain’t the money. It’s the congratulations, giving somebody their credit. It just feels good when you’re working, working, working, and then finally getting to that point.”

Fresh off the release of his new album “B.I.B.L.E.,” New York’s own Fivio Foreign stopped by the DTLR Radio headquarters for an impromptu visit and interview on April 16. Sitting down with DTLR Radio’s Fadam Got Da Juice, Fivio spoke about “B.I.B.L.E.” and the creative process behind it, how it differs from his other projects, his relationship with Ye and how that came about, his favorite drill rappers of all time, and much more.

As part of DTLR’s Dare to Thrive health pillar, we strive to provide free access to food and resources in neighborhoods deemed food deserts. This activation was full of fun and entertainment for youth in Florida, and our partnerships with various nonprofits enabled us to do our part in giving to those in need by handing out fresh produce in preselected neighborhoods. In our partnership with Farm Share, Florida’s homegrown food bank, we support the organization’s innovative idea to recover crops from Florida farmers and distribute fresh and nutritious food to Floridians in need. Under our Dare To Thrive health pillar, we jump on any opportunity to make it possible for families, children, seniors and individuals in need to receive healthy and nutritious fruits, vegetables, proteins and nonperishable items, for all the communities DTLR serves.

TOKYO VANITY

Tokyo Vanity recently stopped at the DTLR Radio and Sprayground/Unruly studios for a sit-down with our own Fadam Got Da Juice. During their conversation, the TV star-turned-artist spoke on the differences between working in music and television, her progression as both an artist and an entertainer, her influences and inspirations, growing up in New Orleans, which artists from NOLA she holds in high regards, and much more.

DTLR’s Dare To Live Right mission is to create an environment of inclusion while making a difference in the communities we serve. By working collectively, we aim to create programs to uplift and revitalize our underserved communities. Our last Refresh was held in in Partnership with Cameron Kirkland—infamously known as Cam Kirk. He founded the Cam Kirk Studios which is a staple within the Atlanta community, averaging over 500 appointments a month. Alongside being a community forward operation and platform, the studio has developed into a media company—highlighting creatives and spotlighting talent in Atlanta on social media. Cam and his youth volunteers were intentional in attending our community cleanup, which is part of our ongoing “Dare to Live Right” community initiative. We aim to help ensure communities are safe and clean to cultivate a new generation of leaders who take pride in the communities DTLR serves. These bi-monthly clean-up projects will continue in neglected inner city areas and partner with local organizations to gather volunteers and do our part in refreshing specific neighborhoods. We will continue to do our part by Refreshing our space, as we Dare our communities to Live Right!

ARTASTE 2022 DTLR was once again part of the annual ARTASTE event, which took place in Baltimore, Md., at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. The event continuously fuses art, cuisine, fashion and music together to push culture forward. Located in an old cannery, the museum features exhibits on various types of manufacturing and industry from the early 20th century, providing the perfect backdrop for the event. DTLR Radio’s very own Tiara LaNiece was featured as the house DJ, and she set the vibe for the event. Baltimore’s finest attended the event in their artful attire and creative footwear. Live art demonstrations, delicious cuisine, and photo moments with our DTLR mannequins dressed in the hottest fashions culminated the evening.

DTLR Community Outreach partnered with Baltimore City Public Schools to launch the first-ever large-scale college and career fair, Homerun for Higher Education. More than 2,000 students attended the event on April 28, where the goal was to expose 10th and 11th graders to postsecondary pathways locally and around the country. During the event, students had the opportunity to meet and network with nearly 100 colleges and community organizations. To honor and celebrate the college choices and postsecondary decisions of seniors ahead of national signing day, Dare To Live Right created the senior celebration station where we handed out individual certificates and gift cards, and attendees could enjoy a 360 photo booth and music from a live DJ. Scholarship agencies and institutions were onsite extending special scholarship opportunities to student participants. This opportunity and partnership is key to the success of Baltimore City and its youth at a time when college and postsecondary enrollment numbers are in steep decline across the country, and as the nation grapples with lifting resourcestratified communities that have been disproportionately and systemically impacted by the pandemic.

DTLR participated in the Nike Doernbecher Freestyle XVII launch with a community-first strategy. Leveraging our social channels (@DTLRLifestyle) we focused our efforts on campaign awareness and driving traffic to the six specific doors carrying the collection. At three flagship locations, consumers were met with DTLR Radio live broadcasts featuring their favorite local DJs and entertainers as a part of our street-level promotions. Our hyper-local approach increased overall energy and hype for consumers on release day. Our key locations included Mondawmin Mall (Baltimore, 005),Camp Creek (Atlanta, 025) and 52nd Street (Philadelphia, 3002) where consumers could find both footwear and apparel merchandise.

WESTERN FASHION SHOW

The Western High School Fashionettes fiercely returned to the stage at this year’s fashion show, aptly named “THE COMEBACK,” and they did just that! Delayed due to the pandemic, the April show took place just in time to celebrate the start of the spring season and show off clothing mostly designed by former students. Located in Baltimore, MD, Western High School is the oldest public allgirls high school remaining in the U.S., and these ladies did not disappoint. Despite the age-old tradition, the fashion show also featured several male models dressed in clothing provided by DTLR. NIKE, KAPPA and COBRA KAI were among the brands featured on the male models as they complemented the ladies on the runway. The models strutted up and down the aisles in front of a sold-out audience of four hundred students and alumni. This annual show is back and here to stay.

BALTIMORE

Through our annual partnership with MidTown Cleveland’s spring cleaning and community tree planting in celebration of Earth Day, we were able to lend a needed helping hand with 12 of our employees from local stores. Alongside 100 volunteers, we spent the afternoon cleaning, planting trees and revitalizing gardens around the neighborhood. In addition to the spring cleaning, we took part in the community Flow and Grow, which was a quick yoga course and community concert. MidTown Cleveland is the sole organization charged with leveraging MidTown’s diverse assets to develop a dynamic neighborhood that unites the city’s downtown and innovation districts. MidTown Cleveland provides services to MidTown’s members, stakeholders, businesses and organizations, residents, and visitors to create a connected and complete community. The organization facilitates conversations, makes connections and addresses safety concerns to achieve its goal, which is to simply show every community that we are better together!
