FLASHCHAT HIGHLIGHTS Student Q: What advice would you give for following your dreams?

That is a great question! I would say the advice I would give is to not give up. There are going to be times when your dreams are going to seem extremely challenging and even very wafty and seem like things you might not be able to achieve. Along with that you are going to have a lot of naysayers that are going to tell you 'no, you can’t do that,' or 'why would you want to do that?' You are going to get that along the way so I would say, figure out what it is you want to do, have that as your dream and hold fast to it. Don’t be easily persuaded by either challenges or naysayers. You have to listen to that internal voice, that we all have, that tells us this is really what I want to do. You have to listen to that and be true to that.

FLASHCHAT HIGHLIGHTS Student Q: Did you see yourself here when you were younger?

A: No, I did not. I think when I was really little I wanted to be a football player someday but that did not happen. Getting into accounting kind of happened naturally, because I was good at math and liked it, but it may not have been my true passion.

So I think what I was trying to drive home in my opening comments was that you, at any point of your life can pursue something that you are more passionate about. So, although not initially what I really wanted to do, it eventually lead me there and I figured out there were opportunities even within accounting that could get me to something I am even more passionate about.
