In January of 2024 this quote was on the inside cover; “When we avoid difficult conversations, we trade short-term discomfort for long-term dysfunction.” Peter Broomberg.
Under the quote is my purpose for my work here at Dreamosity, harmony in every home.
Recently Tina & her husband Jeff won a hour of video time with me and teaching them the game ROLE SWAP was a blast because they both have an important message that could bring harmony and health to homes!
Almost every day when I scroll online someone is saying “F CANCER” because in our culture it’s become so common and heartbreaking.
At the same time, the only person I know who is really saying “F Plastic” (those are my words not hers), is Tina Tesch-Myers of Move-Me.org
Tina is our featured leader this month because she’s on a mission to communicate the dangers of plastic so that we can live better, longer lives.
While the research is there, the messaging around it on a larger
scale is debatable and many communities haven’t even started the process of making changes at home or work. Most festivals still have plastic water bottles, many venues and stores offer beverages housed in plastic. The everyday kitchen has yet to be ruthlessly edited to be free of toxic crap.
Tina presents with such passion and kindness and she is making waves in our local networking groups.

What if you imagined the picture on the plastic bottles were of those loved ones we’ve lost or like Mr. Ick?
it?
Sometimes, the most powerful ads start with a striking photo—or a haunting idea.
This image walks the line between art, awareness, and grief. Is it an ad? A protest? Or just a blurred photo of faces—faces that remind me of people we’ve lost, perhaps even to cancer.
I created this to provoke emotion especially in myself. Seeing the outline of my uncle or aunt behind the label of a plastic bottle stirred something deeper than data ever could. Who’s face do you picture?
It’s personal. And it’s pushing me to make better choices.
Tina first appeared in this publication when I wrote about Cyndi O’Neill Dady and if it wasn’t for Exceptional Connections, I may have never met Tina!
Tina’s brand is relatively happy. She’s a gem of a human doing really hard work.
I appreciate how much she’s opened my eyes and I wanted to write about some of the elements of her campaign and how she’s causing people to change.
Her website has one of the best affiliate pages I’ve seen in a while.
With all the recommendations she makes, it’s easy to navigate to her page and find what she suggests. Some quick links https://move-me.org/theplastic-problem/ https://move-me.org/books/

Tina also host events at her home and she’s been invited into many kitchens to share and teach. Events drive engagement! Often I encourage clients to host an events if they’re not getting traction on social media.
Not all change will come from a video or meme or some clever content online. Often guidance from the hands of a knowledgable and kind person is necessary.
I appreciate how her hashtag use often opens me up to a new topic around her cause & light hearted reasons we should care about change..

When it comes to adopting a healthier, sustainable lifestyle, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the thought of overnight transformations. But, as Tina shares, meaningful change often comes from the incremental actions we take every day.
“It took me, like, I think about six months to swap my whole draw out of everything from Ziploc and plastic into everything alternative. But I just did it gradually.” Tina reflects Her philosophy? Start with just 10 minutes a day. Tiny but consistent choices; like swapping out plastic Ziploc bags for plantbased or reusable options, bringing your own cup to a coffee shop, or gradually replacing plastic cutting boards with bamboo—lead to habits that feel effortless over time. Tina encourages people not to focus on perfection but progress, emphasizing, “You’re not going to be 100% perfect. But at least make the attempt.”
The ripple effect is profound: not only does reducing plastic in your home improve your family’s health by minimizing exposure to microplastics, but it also contributes to less waste reaching landfills and oceans. As Tina puts it, the small changes you make at home eventually “reduce it in the ocean or in the landfill.” The journey to a cleaner, greener lifestyle isn’t about making one massive leap—it’s about committing to regular, doable changes that ripple out into the world.
Behavior change can feel lonely, however Tina discovered that social impact often starts in unexpected places. While individual choices matter, real transformation often gains momentum as a community movement. Tina’s friend attended a Tupperware party where, due to Tina's influence, no one bought any plastic containers. They knew how poisonous plastic is because of Tina’s influence.
Even though Tina sometimes wonders, “who really cares?” The reality is her message sticks with people more than she realizes. She knows she’s getting in people's head when they think twice before reach for a plastic bottle of water. We’ve seen the turnover of people changing. Sometimes, change doesn’t show up in sales numbers, but in how people think and talk at home or in social circles. The effect is cumulative. Whether it’s planting plasticfree advice in someone’s mind or seeing it ripple through networking groups and friendships, those persistent seeds eventually bloom into bigger movements. Seeing tangible progress alongside others fosters accountability and keeps people motivated, long after the initial inspiration fades.

My August & September feature broke my framework as it only goes up to 1M and there are 260M - 330M folks needed for her vision & dream to come true With Tina’s expanded vision it’s expanding my understanding of how a campaign can be visualized on my social audience matrix Jumping from local to national is possible but not easy. It’s time to pick up The Tipping Point again.
A ripple starts small and you never know the impact one well-documented message can make. Determining the right medium and distribution is important. Will it be TV? Public speaking? An interview series? Writing to the companies who make dangerous containers?
Tina’s definitely one to watch.
Definitely follow her community FB Group, The Ripple Effect. Listen, watch, participate. We all have to navigate our bandwidth for change and bringing those we love new solutions and concepts. Lots of little conversations can bubble up now because of the work she’s started to save our oceans and improve our health. What a feat!

There’s growing concern about the effects of household plastics on long-term health— especially when Tina shares facts about how a 16-ounce plastic water, may be putting 84,000 nanoparticles of plastic in your body. While she’s careful not to make direct medical claims, Tina and her peers see a direct link between reducing plastics and supporting healthier lives.
Prevention is key: many harmful effects of plastics, such as microplastic accumulation, don’t appear until years down the line, often manifesting as chronic health issues. Tina cautions, “the tragic with plastic at the moment is that you don’t see the side effects now, but you will in 10 years.”
This approach isn’t about fear-mongering, but providing practical, alternative solutions: using glass jars instead of plastic, swapping to bamboo toothbrushes, and avoiding plastic-lined coffee cups. The focus shifts from just “avoiding cancer” to choosing better options for family, community, and the planet before reaching a tipping point.
Tina’s ideology goes beyond individual health—it’s about collective responsibility. Every step toward a plastic-free home is one step closer to cleaner oceans, healthier communities, and, hopefully, a future where choices we make today create a positive ripple effect for generations to come.

Special thanks to our readers! We’ve had a wonderful summer and are experiencing lots of growth.
Super grateful for the contributions from Charlie Hoffman and Cristina Cuplin to our community & publication this summer. Also, I’m so very grateful for Sydney Bingham and Brian Trendler for continued creative help! Many of Tina’s photos included were taken by Yvonne Marchese.
Cheers to building a team you can count on! Ch to knowing remarkable leaders like Tina who challenge our frameworks and raise the bar about causes to connect with. I was so happy to win some non-plastic goodies at Exception Connections the day she spoke.
Stay well, Marcelle
