MAKE A PURE IMPACT IN EVERY CONVERSATION
In business we meet all sorts of people and we also make all sorts of mistakes. Once we know better we can do better. Usually small setbacks fester if we don’t find or extend grace.
Not all folks can handle our big emotions. I’ve learned that some people are wonderful with my grief, and some people are clueless. Others are able to patiently discuss difficult states of mind while others would rather not.
I’ve found that walking around bitter, or bummed out rarely helps.
Most people appreciate a fresh start and don’t enjoy our woes.
I believe our emotional well-being is our responsibility and it’s important to find folks with skills beyond our current emotional arsenal.
Brave women share their story of encouragement!
In one of my favorite networking groups, FAVE Lifestyles, I find so much wisdom.
I’ve admired this month’s remarkable leader, Brenda Reiss for years. This is Brenda, myself, and Deanna Nowadnick at the Brave book-launch event last December. Brenda is a Forgiveness Coach. She’s an author of several books & has a sweet podcast. She knows the power of creativity in the introspection process.
In this issue I’m going to share more about those states of being in hopes of encouraging you to navigate your business hardships. I’ll always highlight her remarkable body of work as it can bring families & teams closer together.

Data art is partly about making rejection pretty. Sales that don’t close, contracts that pause, friends who never buy our book, etc. Navigating negative moments is a big part our professional resiliency game.
The seagull represents a successful sales person, and the big yellow flowers represent checks, and the other smaller flowers and foliage represents all the “NO’s” or “Not yet’s”, and missed connections. This was used with mock data in my AI graphic. Cute!? Clever? Not all scripts or strategies work. People can be grumpy and forget their manners. I can be grumpy and forget my manners. Our moods can be managed with grace and playfulness.
I don’t expect myself or my clients to always have a large daily impact goal. Helping 2-5 people every day is great! Helping dozens or hundreds is cool and helping thousands is exhilarating. Maintaining certain paces is unrealistic in my experience. The role of forgiveness is important in a 30 day sales cycle. The ability to emotionally hug our own effort is lovely. Being discouraged is a tough place to sell from. Do you have a kindness practice for yourself?
I’ve seen some people grin and bear it, some can disconnect action from emotion, and sometimes people feel ALLLL the feels.
Just like time management is a skill that can be learned and taught, managing emotions is a skill that can be learned and taught.

A while back my Mom had pointed out that I was really good at finding help when I needed it. Those words really have guided me and encouraged me now that she’s not physically here.
In my book Financial Joy, I introduce an infographic identifying “states of being” and “states of knowledge.”
My Mom was the first ever ‘Seagull’ who modeled sales behavior to me. She drove a pretty Corvette and navigated being a single Mom by rocking her career in mortgage lending. While I constantly go back and forth from being ‘cautious, capable, and curious’ on my scale here, her words encourage me to keep going.
Brenda’s teaching of forgiveness reminds me to not hold on to the failures for too long. We must learn and move forward. We must keep our chin up and ears open.
