Space Cowboy Welcome to the next dimension. From cosmic colors to stellar silhouettes, we are boldly going where we’ve never gone before. The Space Cowboy collection is just a little bit outside our normally “earthy” realm, and honestly, we had a whole lot of fun making both the clothing and the catalog. We experimented with eye-grabbing greens and galactic graphics and combined them in a way that is simultaneously cheeky and chic. This collection also features what can only be described as the oxy-moron, “retro-futuristic,” drawing inspiration from the likes of The Jetsons, a futuristic show from the past, and the iconic celebrity stylings of Nudie Cohn, who was ahead of his time, decades ago. It’s colorful. It’s cosmic.
It’s out of this world.

Back to the Future Decades ago, American designer Nudie Cohn made his loud, colorful mark with his ostentatious twists on the western fashion industry. He is known for outfitting some of the larger-than-life icons of the day, from Porter Wagoner to Elvis Presley and John Wayne to Ronald Reagan, in suits that were bold, bright, and often blinged out with rhinestones. Nudie’s signature was a fearlessness in his designs, injecting swagger into his silhouettes and pushing the envelope with edgy embroidery (from music notes to Cannabis leaves.) As is often the case in fashion, what’s old is new again. (Just recently, musical artist Kesha donned a vintage Nudie Cohn suit at the 60th Grammy Awards.) While our manifestations are slightly more muted, there is certainly an evidence of inspiration and homage to the iconic designer in the silhouette embellishment of our sassy spin on the suit.

A Cosmic Collectible If you’re not already on the biker jacket bandwagon, what planet have you been living on?! They are universally appealing and transcend generations, genres, and genders. They’re investment pieces, they’re heirlooms, they’re wearable collectables. Double D Ranch has been designing biker jackets for decades, with variations in style, theme, embellishment, and design to compliment different collections. As a result, our jackets have developed a “collector’s culture” around them, which makes us feel both humbled and proud and is an inspiring source of motivation to create unique wish-list worthy jackets for our loyal lovers of leather. This particular design is a cosmic twist on our perennial favorite biker jacket, and is really the tangible embodiment of “Space Cowboy;” a classic cut in bold black featuring embroidery elements from both the ground and the galaxy.

Eenie Meenie Micro Meet our latest obsession: micro inlay. The extremely intricate arrangement of minuscule slivers and shapes of stones and silver results in an incredibly gorgeous design with almost mindblowing detail. It evokes a sense of marvel equivalent to star-gazing, and we are absolutely mesmerized by it. These specific pieces struck us as particularly perfect to accompany the Space Cowboy collection as many of the designs exhibit a celestial feel, with some (such as the earrings) even appearing comet-like. Additionally, the lime greens, shimmery whites, and atomic reds, against backgrounds of black, mimic the color schemes and motifs that carry throughout the collection. Bit of advice about micro inlay: when you see it, snag it. It’s about as common as shooting stars.
