New York Harbor
Cargo ships from around the world sail into New York Harbor. Tugboats dash to greet them. The big ships slow down. They need tugboats to help move them toward ports. Without tugboats, the ships could crash.
Tugboats guide the ships through narrow parts of the harbor, moving the ships forward, backward, and sideways. Tugboats help the huge, heavy ships park safely at ports. Cargo ships carry goods in big boxes. Stacked like building blocks, some boxes are full of food, such as bananas and potatoes. Others are full of objects people use, such as bicycles, furniture, and computers. Thanks to tugboats, cargo ships can deliver their goods. Cranes load the boxes onto trucks and trains that will take the boxes on their way.
