While being a few months into the service year, the NY District has surpassed 50% of their Fundraising goal
Hope you all are enjoying your summers off! The New York District is working hard to prepare the clubs for the 2024- 2025 school season. With our amazing committees and extensive preparation, the New York District will be one top! NYDKC has earned priority seating at the recognition session at the International convention and an opportunity to meet Past Key Club International President William Sims thanks to our high percentage of members completing Global Leadership Certificate courses! As a small reminder, Key Club does run throughout the summer; our service year is from March 2024- March 2025. Take this time to plan out future key club events for the school year.

Hi everyone,
My name is Katy Gottlieb your District Executive Assistant and this July I had the pleasure of attending ICON. ICON stands for International Convention and was held this year in Atlanta, Georgia. ICON was such an amazing experience. I met people from all over the world, pin traded with them and made friendships and connections that will last a lifetime. On the NY District Tour we attended the World of Coca Cola where I tried literally every flavor, we visited the National Center for Civil and Human Rights which was an eye opening experience and visited the Georgia Aquarium where we watched a sea lion and dolphin show. We also attended the Opening Session, heard music from the Savannah College of Art and Design, won free t-shirts, played games, sang Karaoke, did Just Dance, heard from incredible Guest Speakers including Olympic Gymnast Laurie Hernandez, Paralympic swimmer, Evan Austin, and Founder and CEO of The LiTEArary Society Rania Zuri. We also had a meet and greet with past Key Club International President and new country singer W.B. Sims due to highest percentage of GLC courses completed and he even performed a concert for all of ICON. NY also won awards at the Recognition Session, specifically my home club won Distinguished Diamond Club Level Award. Finally, we ended the convention with the closing session and a dance on the last night. Overall, the experience was incredible and it was so great to meet key clubbers from all around the world and to see the sights of Atlanta. I look forward to attending ICON 2025 in Orlando, Florida Katy G.

It was Millennium’s first time participating in such a big Key Club collaboration and it’s a huge milestone for us as we ’ re becoming more well-known in the community, despite being a small school. Cardozo, the main organizers of the event, reached out to us to be part of the fundraiser. We were ecstatic to be considered, even though I had concerns about our ability to provide attendees. As we predicted, not many people from our school were able to come due to the far location from our school, but our school provided the tug of war rope and bracelet-making materials. My board and I had so much fun pieing and throwing water balloons at each other; it was a great bonding experience. I hope Millennium is part of the event again next year and hopefully we ’ ve convinced more Millennium and D11 Key Clubbers to join! It was truly worth it.

We had Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches galore in our North Shore High School Cafeteria Kitchen on Friday for the Nassau Bicycle Challenge. This bike race is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of North Shore and a great event for fun and active community involvement! Even faced with a sticky situation, our Key Club members made 150 sandwiches in one hour so bikers can refuel at three different rest stops during their race. The bike race has been an event for Kiwanis for thirty years and us as Key Clubbers could not be happier to have been involved in it. It was so great to know that we were helping others in a great journey to start off the summer. Our small gesture can put smiles on so many faces and we are excited to continue this tradition with even more members for many more years!
