Selling costs

There are a number of important things that you should consider with respect to additional costs when selling a property.

Capital gains tax (IRS / IRC) ‘Capital gains’ are the profits earned from the sale of your property that was previously purchased at a lower price. You will have to report any capital gains to the tax authorities. The amount of capital gains tax you will be liable to pay may vary and will depend, among other things, on whether or not you are a resident in Portugal. We recommend that you seek advice from a tax advisor before selling your property.

Broker’s fees In Portugal, the seller pays the broker’s fees. To discuss our work in selling your property and the associated costs, we will be happy to meet you in person and explain what we can do for you.

Attorney’s fees You have the option to choose for an attorney to represent your interests when selling your property. Attorney fees in Portugal can vary. We have worked with various attorneys and are happy to help if you would like a recommendation.
