oin us on November 14th at the Chevy Chase Village Hall for our Cultural Event: House of Gucci: A True Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.
Starting at 3:00pm, the author of the book, Sara Gay Forden, in conversation with Georgetown University Professor Donatella Melucci, will present the new movie tie-in edition of her book that is the basis of the forthcoming blockbuster feature film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver. House of Gucci : A True Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, initially published in 2000 by Harper Collins, grew out of Forden’s reporting for WWD on the Italian fashion industry and recounts the family saga behind the story of one of the world’s top-tier luxury brands. Forden’s Italian years started in Bologna in 1986, where she studied for an MA in Economics and International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS). THE HOUSE OF GUCCI LONDON PREMIERE After the world premiere in London on November 9th, House of Gucci is ready to invade cinemas around the world with all its intrigue and mystery linked to the legendary fashion house. In 1995, the dream is broken: Maurizio Gucci, grandson of the founder Guccio, is found dead in the hallway of his office building in via Palestro in Milan. Two shots fired early in the morning, but no one saw or heard anything. For a couple of years the investigators groped in the dark; the turning point comes when a collaborator of justice reports to the magistrates of a former cellmate who boasted of having participated in the assassination. together and we go back to Gucci’s ex-wife: Patrizia Reggiani. She was then indicted as the instigator of the murder and sentenced to a 26-year prison sentence.
