How to get your grill ready for grilling season: Know what kind of fuel.
Having appropriate signage to tell people how to operate the grill is important. If your grill has a timer that controls the gas flow, people need to understand how it works. If your grill uses the replaceable propane bottles, having full bottles or a service to check the propane levels is important. If someone uses the wrong kind of fuel, say charcoal in a gas grill, not only could it damage the grill but it is also a safety hazard.
Keep it clean.
Nobody wants to cook on a dirty grill. No only is it unsanitary, but a dirty grill causes food to stick to it. Provide a good grill brush to be used each time someone grills. A very through deep clean should be done about twice a year. If the grill and pool area are going to be closed for the winter, then the last cleaning should be done after the season ends. A charcoal grill should have a noncombustible receptacle for the ashes to go. Keeping your grill area clean will also help keep rodents and other animals away
Inspect it.
It is important to have the grill inspected at the beginning of the grilling season. A professional inspection will look at the major systems of the grill; the fuel system, the wiring and structural integrity of the grill. On gas grills whether it is natural gas or liquid propane, the fuel system should be checked for leaks. The burners should be checked for blockages and cracks or rusted parts. The valves should turn freely and the igniter should easily light the grill. If the ignition system is battery operated, the battery should be replaced. The firebox should be inspected for rust and corrosion. Any missing or damaged parts should be replaced. The lid should open easily and not bind up.
