D/S Bjoren - Ein tur med den gamle vedfyrte dampbåten Bjoren frå
Bygland Museum er eit friluftsmuseum med gamle gardsbygningar frå kommunen frå 1600-talet og framover. Den store årestoga frå 1650 gjev eit blikk inn i mellomalderen. Museet ligg rett ved sida av Glashytta og den fine badestranda, og er veleigna for ein pause langs vegen. Museet har ikkje guidar, men dørene står opne. På Glashytta frå du gratis låne ein audioguide, ein liten ”lyddings” med øyretelefonar, som gir deg masse informasjon når du går på eiga hand. Ope dagleg frå 22.6-15.8 kl, 11-17. Landeskogen Peacesenter ligg i Grendi i Byglandsfjord, eit
globalt møte- og konferansesenter for miljø, utvikling og fredsspørsmål. Sjølve hovudbygget er på 5000 m2, og er ein praktbygning med lang historie. Innvendig finn du stort selskaps- og konferanserom, hyggeleg kafé, fredsbibliotek og fleire utstillingsrom. På det 300 mål store naturområdet som høyrer til, er fine vandrestiar og fredstiar. Her ligg også godt til rette for terrengsykling, og det er mogleg å leige ein mountainbike på senteret. Like ved hovudbygget ligg ein stor tipi-teltleir med anledning for overnatting. Ved avtale er det mogleg å få gratis omvising på senteret med foredrag av grunnleggaren av Aktive Fredsreiser, Helga Arntzen. Ho deler historia og tankane bak senteret og korleis dei i dag jobbar med fredsarbeid.
Glashytta i Setesdal - Glasblåseri, ligg like ved Bygland Museum i Bygland. Verkstad open for publikum. Glashytta har blåst glas på Bygland sidan våren 2000. Her kan besøkande sjå korleis glasblåsing går føre seg, og kjøpe med seg produkt som blir laga i Glashytta. Det er òg sal av ulike bruksting frå andre leverandørar. Atelier Mona Ida ligg i Bygland sentrum. Der finn ein acrylmaleri og litografi. Motiv og inspirasjon vert henta frå Setesdalskulturen og dagleglivet der bunaden ofte er eit sentralt element Tam elg - På Elgtun ved idylliske Landeskogen får du nærkontakt med våre tamme elger. Du kan følge med elgene på vandring i skogen og være med på foring. Vi har kafé, utstillling, grillplass og aktiviteter for barna. Åpent daglig fra 1. Juni til 20. September kl. 09.00–17.00. Bygland Museum - Situated adjacent to the glassblowers’ workshop Glashytta and the idyllic beach, this is a perfect place for a break. There are no guides at the museum, but the doors are open. At Glashytta you may borrow an audio guide with headphones that will provide information when you explore the museum. Open daily from June 22–Aug. 15. Opening hours: 11.00–17.00. Landeskogen Peace Center a global conference centre dedicated to issues regarding environment, development and peace, is located at Grendi in Byglandsfjord. The imposing 5000 m2 main building has a long history, featuring function and conference rooms, a nice cafeteria, a peace library and several exhibition rooms. On the 75-acre premises surrounding Landeskogen you’ll find idyllic walking paths – the peace paths. The area is also well suited for off-road cycling, and you may rent a mountain bike at the centre. Next to the main building there is a large tipi camp for overnight accommodation. Upon arrangement you may get a free guided tour of the peace centre, including a lecture by the founder of Active Peace Travels, Helga Arntzen. She conveys the story and ideas behind the centre and how the peace work is carried out. Glassblower’s workshop - This glassblower’s workshop is
situated near Bygland Museum in Bygland, and is open to the public.
Atelier Mona Ida - Art studio, located in the centre of Bygland, displays lithographs and acrylics on canvas, with motifs from the area. Tame elks - At Elgtun, located in the beautiful Landeskogen area, you get a close encounter with our tame elks. You may accompany them through the forest and take part in the feeding. We also have a cafeteria, an exhibition, a barbecue area and activities for children. Open daily from 1 June to 20 September, 09.00–17.00.
