DWDMCA Election News

On the DWDMCA ballot for this election residents will see Board Member Candidate names and will choose TWO for the positions available on our Board of Directors. Residents will also see a section for HB 2298/ARS 33-1818 Public Roadway Parking Legislation.

Residents will be asked to vote YES or NO on this Legislation.

The questions on the ballot will say:

Yes, I vote for retaining the Association’s authority to continue to regulate the public roadways within the community as it pertains to the CC&R’s.

No, I vote against retaining the Association’s authority to continue regulating the public roadways within the community as it pertains to the CC&R’s.

Questions/Concerns

1. Does a yes vote mean DWDM residents are responsible for paving/maintenance of our streets? NO. The legislation has nothing to do with roadway maintenance.

2. Will junk vehicles be allowed on our roadways/streets? If a no vote is the majority vote then those vehicles would become a Town of Marana issue. Our CC&R’s do not allow vehicles to be parked, maintained, constructed, reconstructed or repaired on any Lot, Common Area or any street within our Properties. (For more information you may read your CC&R’s page 6 Exhibit ‘C’ items 7, 8 & 9.)

3. Will RV’s be allowed to be parked on our streets foranunlimitedamountoftime?

If a no vote is the majority vote, this might be possible. It would be the responsibility of the Town of Marana to enforce the regulations. A yes vote would allow our CC&R’s to enforce the short-term parking which allows a cumulative period which cannot exceed 72 hours in any calendar month.

4. Does this legislation mean we will become a gated community with costs to maintain our streets? NO. DWDM will remain a non-gated community and the streets will remain the responsibility of the Town of Marana. There is no monetary cost to the residents to vote yes on this legislation.

If the majority of residents vote no on this legislation, DWDM residents/AAM Management will no longer be

able to regulate nor enforce the CC&R’s for any violations of vehicles, dumpsters, landscape material or equipment, etc, which would be the responsibility of the Town of Marana. If the majority of residents vote yes on this legislation, nothing will change in the community. DWDMCA will retain the ability to regulate and enforce our CC&R’s as written for our public roadways.

violations of vehicles, dumpsters, landscape material

Your vote for the Board of Directors and the Public Roadway Legislation is important!

If you should choose not to vote, please at least write ABSTAIN on your ballot so the community can achieve quorum.

Courtside Tips

Prepare Early

Cope with Deceptive Ball Speeds

When it's in the distance, a car coming at you will appear to move slowly. But when it reaches you, the car is a blur of speed.

The same effect applies to balls hit straight at you on the tennis court. You are not able to gauge their speed as easily as shots that come to you at an angle. As a result, you often make late contact with the ball.

What is the problem? Poor preparation, most likely. Unlike balls directed crosscourt, shots hit right at you do not move laterally against a fixed background. Without the visual reference guide, their velocities can be very deceptive - like the cars coming at you on the highway.

You can cope with deceptive ball speeds by making sure to prepare early. That way, you should be able to make contact out in front of your body and drive the ball solidly across the net.

Community neighbor, Julia Choate has been asked to organize the annual Feed My Starving Children event for DWDM neighbors. There are a number of sessions people can sign up for, but the DWDM group slot will be Feb. 4, 2025 from Noon – 2pm. If interested, contact Julia at: rjkc2az@outlook.com You can also use the QR code for our group (session 3) to sign up individually. Registration opens on November 27 and the group registration closes on Christmas Eve. After that, any remaining registration slots open to the general public.

PERSONAL CARE ITEM COLLECTION

The DWDM family is collecting personal care toiletry/hygiene items that will be shared with local charities. When traveling, pick up those travel size soaps, lotions, shampoos and more during your hotel stays. (New or unopened items only.)

These essential care items are greatly appreciated and will then be distributed to those in need here in Tucson, Sister Jose’s Homeless Shelter and the Poverello House (a men’s homeless shelter).

At the next dentist appointment, grab that toothbrush and toothpaste and donate those as well!

While at the store, see items on BOGO Sale and grab extra!

Thank you for your support. Barb Larkin at belarkin@msn.com

Call for Empty Rx Pill Bottles You Can Help!
