Courtside Tips

Need Help on Low Volleys?

Bend like a skateboarder

At the net, do you hit weak pop-up volleys when the ball comes low to your feet? If so, you are probably bending only at the waist to reach the ball. That type of stiff bending does not allow you to move or react quickly enough to return lowballs. As a result, you drop the racket head and hit a weak, off-balance, pop-up volley instead of a solid, penetrating one.

Anyone who is into skateboarding knows that the way to stay balanced is to keep the bodies center of gravity low by bending at the knees and the waist. Use this technique when you hit low volleys in tennis.

Bend at the knees and waist and keep your racket head level with your hand. Your volleys and overall net game will go on a roll!

Proper Disposal of Yard Waste Committee submittal

Remember that all yard waste should be disposed of properly. All homeowners must keep the common areas and water storm drainage locations free from any personal yard debris.

There are locations in Marana that will take yard waste for composting. Otherwise, please break the yard waste into small pieces and use your trash cans so that the Waste Connections of Arizona will pick it up.

Emergency Contact Information

Flying Solos submission Continues…

As a resident in the Del Webb at Dove Mountain community you have a lot of support (singles & couples alike). The hope is after reading the first article that was in the October newsletter, each resident took a moment to fill out a form with critical medical information; and took a moment to step outside and greet your neighbor(s).

Keeping all areas free from debris allows for the free flow of water through the storm water locations and washes.

It also prevents additional costs to the Association and homeowners by not needing the landscaper company to address additional issues.

Let's continue to do our part to keep the common areas beautiful and the landscaping costs down.

Just a reminder for all homeowners that in the event of an emergency in your home there is available a secure box, with your home key, that you may purchase and have installed at your front door.

This device is called the Knox HomeBox

It is recommended by the Police/Fire Department and would be used only in the event of an emergency when needed by authorized First Responders.

Your home key is securely locked in the Knox HomeBox with access only available through your local emergency service department.

These Knox HomeBox key safes will save your home from damage and allows quick and easy access to the authorized first responders in the event of an emergency at your home.

Time is of the essence in an emergency, many of our residents (singles and couples) have these secure devices at their front door.

Home | File of Life form is also provided by the Northwest Fire District or obtainable online for homeowners to keep in their home with critical medical information available in a crisis.

PERSONAL CARE ITEM COLLECTION

The DWDM family is collecting personal care toiletry/hygiene items that will be shared with local charities. When traveling, pick up those travel size soaps, lotions, shampoos and more during your hotel stays. (New or unopened items only.) These essential care items are greatly appreciated and will then be distributed to those in need here in Tucson, Sister Jose’s Homeless Shelter and the Poverello House (a men’s homeless shelter).

At the next dentist appointment, grab that toothbrush and toothpaste and donate those as well!

While at the store, see items on BOGO Sale and grab extra!

The white collection container is behind the bar/counter inside the Saguaro Center.
