Selecting domain names

What is most important about the logo above is a clear and concise message. It is super simple to understand within a few seconds. For me, that is most important when designing a company brand.

3. Selecting domain names

So far, we have structured website navigation and a clear company brand. Now It is time to purchase domain names.

The list below a just a few websites where you can register domain names:

• https://www.namecheap.com-Domains from $0.99 • https://uk.godaddy.com-Save 30% • https://www.123-reg.co.uk-Domains from £0.99

Again, just like the company brand, the domain name should also be clear and concise.

For the breakdown project the following domains were registered by the client:

• www.breakdownltd.co.uk • www.breakdownltd.com

Important notes:

Never let someone else register your domains for you. Always register them yourself, think of domains like the keys to the front door of your house!

If you are based in the UK, then register both .com and co.uk domains, as you can see in the example domains above.

Why register both domains?

Imagine you become a super successful business and you have a ”,co.uk” domain, hundreds of website visitors a day, lots of new customers and then all of a sudden someone else on the planet registers the .com domain name.

Now you have a domain that is almost identical to your domain and is what you call a common domain name, a domain which many people are used to seeing.
