David Adame Journal 9: how has your quest turned out? What changes do you notice in yourself from the beginning of the semester?

Surprisingly, I am not happy with the amount of items I have been able to check off of my film making checklist. I hate to use this as an excuse, however the amount of work I have to do outside of school is unbearable. Although I love to stay active and alert and feel uneasy at the sense or sight of rest, I have not been able to work on my quest as much as I want to. My friends and I still work hard on the short video and still keep our visions clear as to what we need to accomplish. Not too long ago we finished an incredible scene which took us about three and a half hours to film, nonetheless the process and the actual scene was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had in a long time. Being able to see the actual business side of the filmmaking industry is very different. A few days ago I met a film producer at the SXSW Interactive and Music Festival which takes place in the wonderful city of Austin, Texas. He explained to me how stressful and unbarring it can be but he wouldn’t trade his profession for the world. Throughout this quest that I have involved myself and others in has been a tremendous experience. To actually be able to grow some, you know what, and actually go out there and ask people if they would be interested in being in a film with no pay in return and asking store/ building owners if I can possibly film in their building is amazing. Overall, this quest has given me a different perspective on filmmakers and anyone who is involved in the communication industry. I feel as if I am a little more talkative, outgoing, and happy.
