The facade is made up of four main panel types: Double-pane glass, Double-pane glass with ceramic frit, ACM, and Terracotta rainscreens.
All types work together to reduce glare and make the facade bird-friendly, conserve energy through the building envelope, achieve optimum insulation, and relate back to significant buildings on campus such as the Interdisciplinary Research Center
The use of terracotta plays hand in hand with recent new developments on campus. A prominent example is the Interdisciplinary Research Center completed in 2016
Terracotta also relates to the clay red standard bricks used in the construction of the Mackey and Lewis K Downing buildings and across campus This will cement the Gateway's aesthetic connection and keep it from looking out of place It will in fact look like an almost natural progression
