ARCHITECTURE STUDENT

THE C.D. MOODY BUILDING

CONNECTING ESTABLISHED STRUCTURES

The goal was to design a Connector between the Engineering (LKD) and Architecture (Mackey) buildings of Howard University’s College of Engineering and Architecture. We were also tasked with relating to the greater campus masterplan trhough instances of Creative Placemaking.

My approach was to design a connection that felt as though it was always meant to be there; A connection that blends in and stands out while balancing that duality with nuance and care.

Why Moody?

The building is named for Mr. Charles David Moody, the CEO of CD Moody Construction and a major donor made to reference the fact that ‘construction’ is the point at which Architecture and Engineering connect.
