Stone too has a soul! The first archaeologists of early Christianity, during the excavation of Salona, said that you had to get a good look at the eyes of stone, feel it and press your ear to hear what it says. Salona holds a significant place in the world among experts on early Christianity and those who love history, which is evidenced by the fact that after the discovery of the basilica and cemetery, there took place here the First International Congress of Christian Archaeology in 1894. We will be introduced to the pulse of a state that is inseparable from the area where it had been since the Apostle St. Paul and his followers, when in Salona the calendar was divided between BC and AD. The famous phrase of St. Jerome says something about the interesting and peculiar temperament of Dalmatian people: “Parce mihi Domine, quia, Dalmata sum.” “Forgive me, Lord, for I a Dalmatian.”
