A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT WARREN SIBLEY Every bi-monthly article I’ve written in the past year seems to reference a once-in-alifetime event or situation.

Let’s add Valentine’s Week 2021 to the list. Never could we have imagined the weather, and its impact, we encountered. The effects of the cold, snow, ice, loss of electricity and water, and damage to property will likely be a lingering problem for many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our employees and their families, our membership and their loved ones, and the countless others who’s lives were negatively impacted.

UPGRADES I’d like to give a brief update regarding our upcoming remodel. After interviewing three stellar general contractors, we have selected Scott + Reid. We are excited to bring them on as partners in our renovations. Soon you will see demolition begin in the dining room, locker rooms, and the office/storage area. I hope you’ve been able to view the renderings in the entryway to review our upgrades to the facilities. These plans are also now located on the website under Club Information, Dining and Locker Room Renovations. The plan is to have all the renovations completed by early winter.

FINANCES & MEMBERSHIP Despite the challenges of the past year, our finances remain strong. You will have noticed a dues increase on your recent statement. With almost 200 employees and our vast facilities, annual dues increases are necessary to keep

pace with costs that naturally rise each year. The increase will also supplement ongoing capital replacement needs.

Our Club is as popular as ever and we continue to remain on waitlist. We are able to add new members as other members resign to the waitlist.

We budget for this turnover of membership; our financial structure depends on it. This adding of new members when other members resign is what allows us to maintain the facilities and service level we all enjoy.

BOARD ELECTION/ANNUAL MEETING Our Board election ballot has been emailed to our voting members. We appreciate every voting member who takes the time to participate in our important election process. The results of the election will be announced at our 2021 Annual Meeting on March 10, 2021. At this meeting, we will provide you with a report of our Committees and our many accomplishments during the past year as well as future plans. All are invited to our annual meeting. This year, if you would like to attend, we need you to RSVP. Reservations will help us maintain Covid-19 protocols. You will be able to reserve your spot by contacting the Front Desk.

COMING SUMMER In the wake of an epic winter storm, it is difficult to focus on the coming summer. Yet, signups for our summer camps are just around the corner.

We will be updating our plans and getting our schedules out shortly.

The Annual Meeting will be held on March 10, 2021 at 5:30 pm in the Royal Room. At this meeting, the Board of Directors will be presenting the annual report to the Membership and we will be announcing the results of the upcoming Board Election.

Reservations will be taken at the front desk for the Annual Meeting in order for us to follow the social distancing guidelines. Space is limited so be sure to contact the front desk to make your reservations.

FROM THE DESK OF CARI CUNNINGHAM I am thrilled to announce that after months of hard work by Kelsey Bohlman, Communications Director, DAC has a new Mobile App! This App provides safe, full access to your Club from your mobile device with the push of an icon!

The DAC team will utilize the Club Feed to inform you of dining specials, course conditions and the latest Club happenings. The additional benefit will provide you with an even more personalized experience. The Club Feed will perform similarly to Instagram so you never miss any DAC News!

My favorite feature is the Buddy List. You can add your closest member friends to your Buddy List and easily plan your next trip to DAC or see if they have already booked the group’s tee time!

We will continue to find the most convenient ways to communicate with you. The app, Club Feed and push notifications, the website and email are just a few of the avenues that enable us to provide new opportunities that will exceed your membership expectations.

KEVIN NETTLES, SUPERINTENDENT COURSE CONDITIONS In February, we had a 10-day forecast of low temperatures in the teens and a couple single digit lows. A hard freeze is good for the courses. There is always a lot of conversation about how a freeze kills insects, but in reality, the benefit comes from the soil freezing, contracting and retracting resulting in natural aerification. The best protection for the turf is to make sure there is good soil moisture, which protects the root system.

Our new bridges are progressing.

The contactor is currently welding and forming the L-beams to create the arch, this

process should be completed by the middle of March. After the beams are built, we will begin digging piers and placing the beams across the creek, prior to removing the old bridges. It is our goal to schedule the installation when it least affects our golfers.

You may have noticed flags and markings behind the 18th Blue Green. This is the layout of the new cart path to make room for our new patios behind the locker rooms. Working together with our management team and our architects, we believe that the new layout will be a great improvement.

Lastly it is time for our spring maintenance.

Mark your calendars for aerification on March 8th on the Gold Greens and March 15th on the Blue Greens.

Teaching/Coaching Options Stuart Hendley, PGA It’s about that time of year where golfers start coming out of hibernation to spend more time at the golf course enjoying longer days, warmer weather, greener grass, trees and flowers blooming, etc. All things that are exciting for golfers. This would be a great time to secure some time with me or any of our other professionals to help you with your game to get ready for and enjoy your year of golf in 2021.

All of these teaching/coaching options can include the following services: long game, short game, on course, video, Trackman launch monitor, club fitting, ball fitting, course management, mental game preparation, practice habits, fitness, nutrition and me attending a few tournaments (coaching package).

Individual lessons, the five hour, ten hour and twenty hour

packages are all based on time and not a specific number of lessons. For example a ten hour package could be ten one hour lessons, twenty thirty minute lessons or any combination that adds up to ten hours of instruction.

Some of these options have limited availability, so contact me as soon as possible to get more information and book your lesson, lessons, package, or program option.

Stuart Hendley’s Teaching/ Coaching Options for 2021 1. Hourly rate for individual lessons: $125 per hour 2. Five-hour package: $575 3. Ten-hour package: $1,100 4. Twenty-hour package: $2,000 5. Short game program: $250 (three 45 minute sessions on all aspects of short game).

6. Play golf program: $495 (three 90 minute sessions on the golf course covering course management, trouble shots, how to maximize your skills to score).

7. Monthly coaching package: This includes a specific amount of instruction per month, as well as Stuart attending a few of the student’s tournaments in the DFW area during the year. This is a great option for any high school golfer playing competitive golf (four month minimum required).

DAC Wellness Package

The past year has presented us with some incredible challenges. The combination of pandemic related events, virtual school, work from home and the recent February artic chill have led to a lot of stress. We all know exercise is not only necessary for toning muscles and keeping us heart healthy, but also a terrific way to reduce stress.

This Spring we are offering the DAC Wellness Package.

This package includes any combination of four sessions of personal training and massage therapy.
