Fellow members,

As this Dallas summer begins to heat up, DAC remains a welcome retreat for our members. We hope you take full advantage of everything the Club offers - especially the pool, which is the perfect place to cool off and relax with friends.

We are pleased to share that the renovation of the Blue Golf Course is in its final stages. This project has been a significant endeavor. We are grateful for our golf management team and the patience and support of our members. We are confident the course improvements will elevate your golfing experience for years to come. Cheers to all 36 holes open and ready for play soon!

Our staff, Board of Directors, and membership mourn the passing of longtime DAC General Manager, Brent Burkhart. His leadership, dedication, and passion for our Club left a lasting impact on our entire DAC community. He will be deeply missed.

A comprehensive search for our next General Manager is underway. In the interim, we are grateful to our exceptional management team for ensuring a seamless continuation of operations. For any questions, concerns, or suggestions, the most effective channels for member feedback include:

• Phil Callahan, Assistant Club Manager

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

JEN & ASA CASCAVILLA

Inspired by her faith, their Hawaiian roots, and a lifelong passion for making others feel special, Jen and Asa Cascavilla have turned the art of hosting into a true calling.

Whether it’s organizing a heartfelt vow renewal or a vibrant daddy-daughter dance, she believes in the power of meaningful details and memorable moments. In this month’s Member Spotlight, we sat down with Jen to hear more about what inspires her, her family’s favorite Club traditions, and why they believe there’s no better place to celebrate life’s biggest (and smallest) moments than right here at DAC.

You’re known for hosting memorable events — what inspires your event ideas, and do you have a favorite theme you’ve done so far? Oh I love a good event!! I’ve always been

MEMBER MILESTONES

CHEERS TO THE CLASS OF 2025

From their earliest days at DAC to this milestone moment, we proudly recognize DAC's graduating seniors.

As summer winds down, we proudly celebrate the DAC Class of 2025 — familiar faces who’ve grown up on our courts, fairways, and in our dining rooms. Now college-bound, these seniors carry with them the values and memories made here at DAC. Thank you for the laughter, the legacy, and the moments shared. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish — and hope to welcome you back as Legacy Members one day.

Congratulations, DAC Seniors!

that friend or family member to give someone a birthday party, wedding shower, baby shower, etc., and I get that from my awesome parents. (Always doing something special for someone) What inspires me differs for each event. Just depending a who it’s for, or what school, and or which cheer team!!! I would say that mainly my inspiration comes from the Lord - to do something special and to make amazing memories - that’s what we are called to do with our spiritual gifts!

I love a good theme too - every event starts with that one idea and manifests into something so incredible! I would say that my

favorite theme is a Hawaiian-inspired theme. My husband, Asa, was born and raised Hawaiian and grew up there most of his life. We have spent so much time on the islands, and it is such a big part of who we are. Adding any flair of Hawaii is always a treat for methe beautiful touches of Aloha can make any occasion over the top!

You clearly love being involved — is there a particular event or Club tradition that holds special meaning for your family? I love tennis and my favorite event is the Davis cup! I also love all the fun brunches like Easter and Mother's Day - that we bring the whole Ohana to!

What’s one moment or memory from an event you hosted at the Club that still makes you smile? I knew when we joined the Club that I would be hosting many events there. I was so excited, and the event staff probably had no idea what was coming for them!! Two events really stick out and make me smile every time I think about them. One being the first-ever Dallas Christian daddy-daughter dance. Over the years, Asa had taken our girls to several

dances in Rockwall. When I was tasked with this event, I knew it would be so special for all the dads and daughters - and it was one of the best nights ever. The Club recommended the best DJ who had the dads and girls dancing the whole night away! The most special event as of yet - would be hosting my parents' 50th Wedding anniversary and vow renewal ceremony. We pretty much gave them a huge wedding! It was such a beautiful night honoring their love, and such a huge blessing to be able to do so while they are still so full of life, with their kids and grandkids being able to witness something so awesome. They renewed their vows in an intimate ceremony on the lawn, followed by the most fun reception with their closest family and friends! Everything about the night was perfect, and the Club was absolutely the best!

If you were trying to convince a fellow member to host an event here, what would you say to them? Do it! The staff is amazingso easy to work with, flexible, and everyone is hands-on and ready to do whatever is needed to make your event perfect. The newly remodeled spaces are beautiful, and so many different options to cater to your specific needs! Plus, you can show up and do as little or as much as you want!

What’s one small touch or detail you always include when hosting — something that makes your guests feel extra welcome? I think everything is in the details. Big or small, they can make an event so special, so meaningful. So, if you know me, I can’t just limit this to one small touch or detail!! I would say that beautiful flowers are a must, and anything personalized for guests, as well as the guest of honor, and special gifts to enjoy both during and after the event. Also - amazing entertainment. My favorite would be live music amongst a beautiful setting with your favorite people.

What first drew you to the Club, and how has your experience evolved since you became a member? Ok - Honestly - TENNIS drew me to the Club! I love tennis and my very good friend, Traci, whom I convinced to play tennis again after 15 plus years of not playing - she moved clubs from Rockwall to DAC. It was only a very short time before she got me over to the Club to play on a team together! We also have three daughters who attend Dallas Christian, which is right around the corner from the Club. With all of the girls cheering, and it being so close to the Club, it made it super convenient to bounce right over before games, to hang out with other DC families, eat, and get ready, especially for the fun Friday Night Lights!!

What advice would you give a brand-new member looking to make the most of their first year here? I would say to get involved with a sport like tennis- such a great way to get to know members! Also, to sign up for fun member events, classes, go to the holiday brunches and events, and enroll your kids in camps, just put your family out there and have fun with other members!

Is there anything else you want to share about your DAC experience over the years?

We love DAC, and are so thankful for the community and fellowship that goes on here! Although we have only been here for a few years, it feels like a ton already. We look forward to making many more memories - and to all the tennis fun (for mom!!) - special times with our kids, our family and friends, and hopefully our grandkids!!! Love & Aloha - the Cascavilla’s!

PROGRESS ON THE COURSES

2025

In spite of more than 25 inches of rain through mid-June, Sanders Golf has made considerable progress on the Blue Course renovation. The most disruptive phases of the project—irrigation installation and new cart paths—are nearing completion, with new tee construction and other design improvements well underway.

Critical repairs to the pond on #2 Gold are also in progress. Approximately 100 feet of 30-inch drain pipe unexpectedly failed and must now be replaced, running from the pond into the driving range. These repairs are essential to restore irrigation from the #2 pond—one of our two primary irrigation sources. Work is

scheduled to begin the last week of June and is expected to take 7 to 10 days. The driving range will need to be closed during this work in order to complete it as quickly as possible. We must also finish these repairs before installing the new pump station on #5 Blue, the final step in the new irrigation system.

With cart paths and irrigation nearing completion, we will soon be able to steadily increase the number of holes open for play. By mid-July, we plan to limit closures to only two to three holes at a time while crews move through the course—adding drainage, repairing lake banks, and completing final detail work. As new sod becomes established, we will also begin easing “cart path only” restrictions. Assuming no unforeseen issues and a little cooperation from Mother Nature, we are targeting substantial completion of all major items by the end of August.

Work on the “635 Project” along holes #4 and #5 Blue is also in full swing. Crews are rerouting Long Branch Creek and will soon

JUNIOR

SPOTLIGHT

ELLE REED

We are excited to feature an up and coming young golfer in our Dallas Athletic Club Junior Golf Spotlight – Elle!

She has been playing golf for two years and started out in our Operation 36 program and is now in our Junior Elite program. She recently won her first NTPGA Prep Tour Tournament for ages 9-10. Elle shot 33 for 9-holes, winning by 5 shots. Beyond her athletic ability, she is known for her sportsmanship, kindness and respect for the game. Her favorite golfers are Annika Sorenstam, Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler. When she’s not on the course, you can find her traveling, shopping or doing art.

Keep chasing your dreams, Elle – We will continue to cheer you on!

begin building the retaining walls needed to raise La Prada and Woodmeadow. We do not expect significant impact on play, although access to the path between #4 green and #5 tees may be temporarily restricted.

It has certainly been a busy first half of 2025, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s continued patience and support. We look forward to cooler temperatures, showing off the Blue Course improvements, and having both courses fully open soon.

GOLF RULE

THE 10-SECOND RULE

What Happened with Tommy Fleetwood at Colonial?

If you caught Tommy Fleetwood’s dramatic 72nd hole at Colonial, you saw his putt hang on the edge of the cup agonizingly close to dropping.

Under Rule 13.3 of the Rules of Golf, a player is allowed a reasonable amount of time to reach the hole after putting and then 10 more seconds to wait and see whether the ball will fall into the hole.

Fleetwood’s near-miss is a great reminder: even in high-pressure moments, knowing the rules matters.

A MESSAGE FROM NATALIA PRINZ

There’s nothing better than an early summer morning hit at DAC. As the sun rises above Court 6 and the golf course, you start your day with crisp forehands and backhands. Our morning regulars arrive each week to get their workouts in. We love it, they love it. It’s part of the summer charm at DAC: the

warm air and the early sweat routine. The Club is just waking up for another busy summer day. The golf and tennis staff are preparing for campers arriving for a fun day ahead. But before the course is groomed and the pool opens, it’s the early bird special — when clean courts meet tennis players who love the first hit of the day with the pro. If you know, you know.

SUMMER

STRENGTH

& WELLNESS

As the sun shines brighter and the days grow longer, summer is the perfect opportunity to refresh your fitness routine and soak up some seasonal energy. Whether you're staying active on vacation, working on building strength, or just looking to enjoy the outdoors, here’s everything you need to make the most of your summer wellness goals.

Get Outside & Get Moving

Make the most of the sunshine and fresh air! Outdoor workouts not only improve physical fitness but also boost your mood and motivation.

Walks & Runs at Sunrise or Sunset

Avoid peak heat by getting your cardio in early morning or evening hours.

Pool Workouts

Take advantage of the water for lowimpact resistance exercises. Try squats, jumping jacks, arm circles, water volleyball, and of course, swimming!

Hit the Trails

Hiking offers a powerful blend of cardio, strength training, and nature therapy all in one.

Stay Hydrated & Nourished

Hot weather demands extra attention to hydration and nutrition.

• Hydrate Regularly

Drink water throughout the day and consider electrolyte drinks after intense workouts.

Eat Water-Rich Foods

Snack on hydrating fruits and veggies like watermelon, cucumbers, and berries.

Fuel Your Body Right

Quick Tip: Circuit training is a great way to keep workouts fun, efficient, and effective, especially during busy summer days.

Support your summer activity with balanced meals—lean proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of colorful produce.

• Pro Tip: Pay attention to how your body feels. Heat and humidity can increase fatigue.

Build Strength & Maintain Flexibility

You don’t need a gym to stay strong this summer.

Bodyweight & Resistance Band Workouts

Push-ups, squats, lunges, and planks can go with you anywhere. Add resistance bands for an extra challenge.

Yoga & Stretching

Regular flexibility work helps prevent injuries and supports recovery. Bonus: Try an outdoor yoga session for a rejuvenating twist.

Sun Safety & Smart Training

A few simple precautions can keep your workouts safe all season long:

• Warm up before you start and cool down afterward.

Dress in lightweight, breathable clothing and wear a hat for sun protection. Always apply (and reapply) sunscreen. Listen to your body and rest if you feel overheated or fatigued.

Enjoy the Season

Summer is a fantastic time to explore new activities, stay active, and feel your best. With the right balance of movement, nourishment, and self-care, you’ll be set for a strong, energized season.

Here’s to a safe, healthy, and active summer!

This year’s 4th of July Celebration will be our most exciting yet! Come early, stay late, and enjoy a full day of star-spangled festivities.
