Hello Unicorns!

the editor

I hope everyone is enjoying their last few weeks of summer break! A new school year is about to start, which means a brand new start for yourself: learn from last year's mistakes, keep up the hard work, and try something new! You can do it, Unicorns!! Once the school year begins, remember to attend the Key Club meetings! I know everyone is probably busy during the year, but try to do some service projects as well! Trust me, it's a great way to relieve all the stress school puts on you. Lastly, thank you to all the editors who are submitting their articles and visuals on time! I really appreciate it! Your articles are filled with so much love for Key Club, and it brightens my day whenever I read them!

Serving with love,

Vickie Cai

Greetings Unicorns!

How are all of you doing? I hope you all are having a great summer so far. Our division has just successfully finished up OTC with division 16 south! Thank you officers and members who came and learned more about your position and the structure of key club. Stay tuned for more events and fundraisers coming up! Never stop serving~

In service,

Rachel Kim 4

Meet the DLT (they're so cute!) Lieutenant Governor: Rachel Kim

Favorite Food: Ramen Hobbies: dancing & sleeping Favorite music: K-pop, pop, r&b Favorite artists: BTS, Red Velvet, Ariana Grande, Dean, Loona (stan Loona) Fun Fact: I can’t snap or whistle Goals: an increase in active and happy members!

Executive Assistant: Nick Nyein I’m a rising Sophomore from Golden Valley High School. At Golden Valley I am a member of my school’s competitive show choir and ASB. Additionally, I also serve as my home club’s Vice President on top of serving as an EA! When I do have free time I often watch ASMR/Mukbang videos, or I’ll relax and binge music (Recently I’ve been really into KR&B). Personally, I can be really absorbed with high school life as I really don’t know what to do with myself with too much free time. So please don’t be surprised if you find me staring into space, I’m probably just thinking about Key Club! I really hope with my upcoming term, I can bring out the upmost potential of both division and my home club. I’m super excited for the upcoming year and I hope by the end of it I can instill a sense of unity and motivation for service within the division!

Executive Assistant: Chika Ma Chika Ma is a senior at West Ranch High School. When she is not learning languages on Duolingo, stumbling around darkrooms in Calarts, or jamming out at random concerts, you can find her sketching fashion pieces, debating at the next Model UN competition, writing her latest journalism piece on her sucky laptop, or dancing around on stage in the theater. She strives to become a storyteller that spark conversations about everything from plastic waste to who the rightful heir of airplane armrests is (the middle seat, duh). Of course, her Nikon D3400 is attached at her hip. She's super cool. Trust me.

Secretary: Margaret Malinao

Hi! One thing I really enjoy doing is going on spontaneous trips with my friends/family whenever we get the chance. In my opinion, the best types of plans are last minute plans :) Also,, i'm super into just listening to music while going on drives to nowhere in particular... y'all should try it bc it's the best thing ever. I'm always down to eat out for some good eats!!! In specific, my favorite food is sushi or just seafood in general :) Green and orange are my favorite colors, and my favorite boba tea is matcha (pot plant style if ya know what i mean). Also! My most favorite person in this world is my best friend Alexus from d16s ;D But most importantly, I love keyclub because I've met so many amazing and genuine people through it, and i hope to meet many many more along the way!

Spirit Coordinator: Skylar Cho Hi! I’m Skylar :) I LOVE driving around town with my best friends while listening to our favorite songs. My hobby is sleeping hehe and a fun fact about me is that I just started drinking boba. One of my major goals for Key Club this year is bringing together the entire division through spirit! D16N has NEVER won the spirit stick and this year I will try my absolute hardest for our division to get that dub! LETS GO UNICORNS!

Media Coordinator: Mitchell Favis I enjoy drawing, watching movies, listening to music, and collecting sneakers. When I’m not doing any of those, I’m probably dead. During my time as the Media Coordinator for this division, I hope to show what this club really is about using social media, the best way to communicate with everyone around the world.

Treasurer: Kaitlyn Jang I love cooking, baking, reading, and watching netflix :)

Fundraising Coordinator; Ashley Song My goal for Key Club this year is to focus on getting more members as well as member retention. I’m really excited to plan fun, engaging fundraisers for PTP. I play golf and love being outdoors because fresh air and trees never fail to lift my spirits. I also love cooking and being a couch potato with my dog!

News Editor: Vickie Cai Hello! One of my favorite things to do is binge watch dramas. I love watching K-dramas and C-dramas the most! I also like to do grandma things, like crochet, knitting, crafting, journaling, and calligraphy! I also really like tea, especially milk tea. One random fact about me is I really like Hello Kitty and my room is filled with cute Hello Kitty decor :P This year, I hope to make our newsletter fun to read, and I'm looking forward to working with all the editors!

July DCM and OTC On July 13, D16N and D16S gathered together to hold their annual Officer Training Conference at Burbank High School. From stress management to communications, Key Club officers and members learned a lot from the workshops. It was also great to see unicorns and white tigers interacting with each other and sharing their love for Key Club! New friendships were created, and old friends were reunited. After the closing session declared the end of the OTC, the July DCM for D16N began. LTG Rachel talked about upcoming events for Key Club and answered some questions from the officers and members. She also handed out awards to the schools that displayed excellence and to the member and officer of the month. Congratulations Unicorns! Keep up the good work!

Regional Banquet

by Daira Merino, Golden Valley Bulletin Editor

On June 21st, 2019, Region 7 gathered to say their goodbyes to the graduating seniors and to the previous term. The room was tangled in tears, joy, and love for one and other. The regional banquet was held in Debell Golf Course, Hilltop Restaurant. It was beautiful to see the decorations on the tables displaying the theme of the night, "Tangled in Service." The room was vibrating with good energy. The night was filled with laughter, savory food, and heart moving speeches from past LTGs. A memorable speech given that night was from a graduating senior. He thanked Key Club for all the memories in his four years of high school. His speech displayed the members as a whole: loving, kind, helpful, and on top of that a whole ton of humor. Many past LTG were given the chance to award their club officers and members. At the end of all the speeches and awards, everyone got up to chant their last "how do you feel?“ of the term and, for graduating seniors, the last of their high school years. The night was wrapped up with photos, hugs, and farewells. Overall, Regional Banquet was a success and a memorable night to all, especially to those Key Club members saying their goodbye to the Club.
