HELLO UNICORNS! Hello Unicorns! My name is Evelyn Kong, and I will be serving as your 2018-2019 Lieutenant Governor. Like Unicorns, the very mascot we elected to represent our division, I believe we have a mysterious power within us to enact and bring to fruition change in our community. What’s more, I believe that we, like unicorns, have the potential to be such forces to be reckoned with that by the end of each event, we could be remembered as legends and myths. I say all this with the utmost confidence because, having served in the capacities of a secretary, district executive assistant, and most importantly, a member these past two years, I have witnessed a distinct passion for service already sparked within the hearts of members. I recognize, then, that one of my roles is keep emblazoned this passion for service. I will do this by finding more magical community service opportunities for you all, and by never forgetting to remind everyone of our purpose and the importance of what we do! Moreover, I will work tirelessly to get to know you all individually, while doing my best to help foster deep and meaningful relationships between all of you guys - whether on the club, district, national, or even international level. I will work hard to have us serve the community effectively and efficiently as a family truly united with the spirit of ohana tieing all of us together. I can’t wait to meet you all, and I look forward to working together to change our community and planet, one service hour at a time.

HOPE Carnival By: Luis Lopez (Vaughn) The HOPE Carnival, the most fun and family friendly event that happens here at our school campus. Ever year a club at our school called HOPE hosts a carnival. It’s a evening filled with game booth’s, jumpers, dances, and food. Many different clubs and programscome to bring the whole event together. It was an evening that anybody would truly enjoy and anticipate. Our Key Club had the opportunity to sell food, in order to raise money for this new term, as well as for any other necessities for the future. We sold Porto’s which was something new that was sold at any school event and small Danishes and muffins. The food ended up selling quite well. People were enjoying the Danishes and the Porto’s. People, one after another came to our booth, we were very happy and excited about it. We had planned to sell coffee as well but the day was unexpectedly hot! Although around 6 o’ clock we decided to take the coffee out and begin to make it. Our volunteers helped make and deliver coffees to people who had paid for it and were waiting. We decided to begin that process when a small to medium group of people wanted to enjoy a nice cup of coffee with a sweet muffin. Although the coffee wasn't as big a hit after the few who wanted it. It still attracted people every once and awhile. As the night began to end people were leaving and business was slowing down. Our 3 members who help out were very generous with their time. We couldn’t have done it without them. They were able to take care of the booth while I or another officer was off solving a problem or question. Them being able to stay till 10:30 pm, which is when the event ended, really was a sign of commitment. And we couldn't thank them enough!

Golden Valley Banquet By: Sierra Selby On April 20th, 2018, the Golden Valley Key Club hosted its banquet, the first event under the new board. This banquet was held at Fair Oaks Park, and turned out as a great success. This was a potluck banquet, inviting members to bring treats for everyone to enjoy. The new board members put a lot of effort into this event, getting there early to decorate the area, as well as set up food and welcome the members. As the last event of the term, a majority of the seniors arrived to enjoy their last event as a part of their high school Key Club experience. At the event, the new board members handed out stoles earned by senior club members and special awards congratulating specific individuals. Games were also implemented to make the even more fun. After all of the official Key Club business, members were free to hang about as they pleased, allowing for senior members alike to hang out with each other and enjoy their time. Overall, this event was a positive end to an amazing Key Club term.
