Fall Rally is one of the biggest and hyped-up events in our district. It is one of the largest events in Key Club where half of the district all goes to Six Flags Magic Mountain to have fun and show our division spirit! It is also a huge fundraiser as we donate to PTP (Pediatric Trauma Program) with the funds from Fall Rally. We have a spirit session in which each division competes with other divisions and have plenty of fun spirit battles in order to win the spirit stick!

Jenna Ramiscal| SDSCPA At the 6th grade Bridging Day, keyclub passed out goodie bags we made prior to the event to incoming 6th graders. The bags consisted of a keyclub message and a handwritten message, some candy, and stickers. It was so fun handing the goodie bags, and I tried to greet as many kids as I possibly could. The sun was beaming on us but the looks on the 6th grader’s faces made it all worth it. It was so satisfying and fulfilling to empty the basket of bags. After we finished, I was able to join in on some of the activities ASB was doing with the kids. It was so fun, and I was able to see what 6th graders are into nowadays and how they act. They reminded me of my middle school self and made me feel quite old, but at the same time stoked to be an elder that could help break the ice in a new and scary environment.

Seleena Garcia| BONITA VISTA On September 11th, Key Club had planned to do a Beach Clean-Up at Imperial Beach as one of their monthly service projects. We started the beach clean-up at 8:00am and we even saw a car show while we were there. We were split into two groups, so one group went to the left of the beach and the other group went to the right. As we walked along the sand, we were getting comments from individuals walking the beach that we were doing a good job in helping our community. This made us feel really good about what we were doing so we kept going. After both groups picked up trash from their sides, we returned back at 9:30 to see what we collected. After looking at our trash bags we realized that Imperial Beach had a lot of trash, so our decision to clean up Imperial Beach was a good one. We sorted out our trash from our trash bags from recycled things to the things that belonged in the trash. We ended up picking up two trash bags worth of trash and this made us feel really good. We hope to do another beach clean-up similar to this so that we could make an impact on the community.

Jema Flordeliza| OCS October was the official start for Key Club this year! The O’Farrell Charter school hosted our school’s annual Club Rush, and this year it was on September 13th, 2022. At our booth, we used posters, candies, and even a bubble blower to draw the attention of all. The event was a huge success, and we had around 100 sign ups, from students of all grades! Later on in the month, the O’Farrell Key Club hosted its first official club meeting of the 2022-23 school year. This meeting was held on September 23, 2022, in our club advisor’s room. A slide show was presented to welcome new members and returners from last year’s meetings alike. The presentation introduced these members to not only the ‘22-’23 officer board, but also upcoming service projects, the basics of what Key Club is, and how to officially join the club. With the room being filled with around 42 eager students (the majority of them being underclassmen), our president, Jocelyn Quiroz told the board, “Good work guys! I consider this meeting a success!”

Amy Luong| SDHS This month, San Diego High’s Key Club participated in its first service event with our Kiwanis Club. It was a partnership at a local Salvation Army where volunteers helped serve food to those around the neighborhood. Our members cut and packed watermelons into containers and passed them out along with canned and dried foods to those in the area. The members also helped clean the kitchen and made sure that it was organized. Along with this service event, SDHS key club also held a Charity Miles event for the month of September. This event was an introductory event for incoming members as the officers plan and prepare for division events such as Key Leader and Fall Rally South. This month was very successful in member turnout and was a great start into the new school year and new Key Club events.

Jenna Ramiscal| SDSCPA PIFA WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We got there pretty early and started off by hanging posters at the entrance and then it turned into working at a t-shirt booth. I had the amazing opportunity to work with one of the PIFA Board Members, Jacqueline Cepeda. I worked closely with her and her staff at the booth. I worked with and trained many of our fellow SCPA students along with students from other schools and a few from SDSU! This PIFA experience was amazing and helped me work on my leadership skills by motivating me to learn everything about the booth, its operations, and training others with my knowledge. It also challenged me in my problem solving skills and kept me on my feet at all times running around! Overall, PIFA was amazing and I had an amazing time with my friends and enjoying the environment and community.

Sophia Nadine Jarina| EASTLAKE This month various of our eastlake dolphins attended with splashing service at this years San Diego Triathlon classic! Members helped with timing, directing athletes, crowd management, handing out goodies, and helped with clean up. We have been having great turn outs at meetings, where many were excited about the announcement of dally rally south! We are so excited for theses upcoming months, we can tell this year will be just as much fun as it is rewarding!
