Jenna Ramiscal | SDSCPA The Beach & Bay 10k event was one of my favorite events to volunteer at! I mainly helped out with checking in the participants for the event and then putting away the tables and chairs after the check-in closed. I collaborated with the other Key Club members and got to know everyone better. I also met some other volunteers that weren't a part of Key Club and it was fun to meet some new people. I gained new social skills and I learned how to work with lots of others. I had so much fun at this event I look forward to more!

Sophia Nadine Jarina| EASTLAKE This month a few of our members, along with another dolphin from SDSCPA, participated in volunteering at the Spring Sprint Triathlon from April thirtieth to May first. This took place at south shores park, where there was a lake for the swim portion of the race as well as lots of room for the bike and run. This is an annual event that happens in San Diego, where athletes come together to race in various kinds of races, such as the triathlon and duathlon. There are even events just for kids! Our titans helped out by handing out medals, fruit, and lots of goodie bags with some water and snacks for the racers at the finish line. And of course, we showed our support and dolphin pride by congratulating and cheering the racers on as they crossed the finish line.

Jocelyn Quiroz / Jema Flordeliza| O’FARRELL Throughout the month of April, the O'Farrell Key Club worked with our club advisor, Mrs. Nguyen, to create care packages for all of our staff. These packages included pens, candies, student written cards, and were done in order to express appreciation for the staff and their hard work. Cards were passed around with all of their names on them and members were encouraged to write heartwarming messages; even if they did have the teacher. These cards would then be included in our care packages. The care packages were given out on May 4th during our advisory class. Many teachers at our school expressed gratitude and surprise through words like, “Oh my god! This is so nice,” “This is so cute! Thank you,” and “This is so cool, you guys are so cool,” from the array of teachers we handed our appreciation gifts to. This teacher appreciation project has been in the works between our Buzzathon and the integration of the new board.

18

Amy Luong | SDHS This month we had a volunteer opportunity where members of our club were able to participate in Earth fair which is the biggest environment fairs in San Diego. Members had the opportunity to attend volunteer trainings, or help with set-ups and clean-ups. They raised awareness and learned about multiple ways in which they can be more environmentally conscious and how to promote this information in their communities. Overall, it was another great project our SDHS key club members took part of!
